My terra cotta sewer discharge line from my crawlspace to the lateral was coming apart due to root intrusion. The line is under an addition that rests on a concrete slab. Other sewer repair providers wanted two days to clear the room, pull up the carpet, and cut the concrete. Sewer Connection is experienced at pipe-burst replacement for these situations and bid less than half those estimates, to be done in one day. They found a couple of issues that boosted the final bill by $1,000, but it was legit problem-solving, not an upsell. The really impressive thing is that my crawlspace is 18" high and accessible only by a 2x3-foot hatch in a bedroom closet. They had two guys under there for the better part of eight hours, using an electric jackhammer and hand tools to excavate a portion of cast-iron pipe and locate the beginning of the terra cotta, then connecting a single plastic pipe to be slowly pulled through the terra cotta by a winch outside the house (the pipe-burst), and reconnecting all the feeds. They slipped that new pipe through a foundation vent screen, which they repaired afterwards. They had to do a bit of excavation outside the house to connect the new pipe to the lateral. I was in awe that those guys could work for that long in that dusty, confined space. During the process, the foreman kept me well informed as to progress and the need for additional measures (e.g., a new cleanout). He was personable and calm, despite what seemed to be some pretty significant problems that arose, which were solved with ingenuity and diligence. One nit: they arrived without floor/carpet protection. I happened to have a big roll of heavy-duty kraft paper, so we avoided any delay. Prior to commencing the job, we had to postpone it a couple of times due to illness. The office people were very understanding and accommodating, with no penalty or change in the estimate. I am in awe of how well this operation worked, when I needed them! If your drains stop working, you might as well be camping. Now I have peace of mind and a great business to recommend. We had a terrible time getting roots chopped out that had obstructed our sewer line, and the rooter service ran a camera and showed us that the (clay, no doubt original) line was not only broken in places, root-intruded in others, but a couple of the sections had separated and offset. They explained that if the offset got worse, it wouldn't be feasible to do trenchless replacement, which is less destructive and less expensive than an open trench. We waited a few months to save up for the job, then called Sewer Connection. Jasmine arranged a new inspection to assess current state. A couple of days later, Tyler came, and I was interested enough to watch him work. We had no ground-level clean-out, so he had to work through a roof vent. I could tell pretty fast that he was great at his job: efficient, made a recording and was able to clearly describe everything along the way. I had the recording the same day. The quote for the work came in under $7000, and we'd been expecting to pay between 8 and 12. Scheduled the work, and communication with Jasmine, and with Stacy, the other project coordinator, was clear, smooth, friendly. They took care of the permit. They let me know that they'd do the work over two days, with inspection on day 2. When the crew showed up, right when expected, they got everything dug and ready, both house side and street side, in about 5 hours, *without* destroying the old line, so we had our old sewer in the afternoon and overnight. Everybody clearly knew exactly what they were doing. They had everything safe and covered up. They were back promptly the next morning, and I watched in awe as they hooked up this length of sturdy new pipe ("rated for 100 years" - so we all agreed we'd check on it again in 2124 :-) to the machine that burrows through, breaking up the old line and at the same time pulling the new one after it. Again, the whole thing was done by early afternoon. Their care with repairing the street was so good I can hardly notice there was a hole there, even when I'm looking right where the giant pit was. And their concrete work in front of my house is just beautiful. They added clean-outs that I've been wishing for, even though that had never been discussed. The crew were friendly and worked well together. The project coordinators made sure to also tell me about a wastewater district incentive fund I can apply for, and they're taking care of sending me the certificate, which will be good for many years in case we want to sell the house. Excellent overall experience. Manny was very efficient and experienced. He came prepared with the right equipment to properly assess the situation. I had seriously clogged drain pipes. I had several other companies come out to fix the problem but no other sewer companies were able to locate where the pipes were clogged and couldn't even figure out how they would solve the problem. One incompetent roto rescue sewer company who came out to fix the problem snapped their snake cable and left their broken roto snake cable in my pipe making the situation much worse. Manny diagnosed the problem quickly identifying exactly where the pipes were clogged and not only cleared out all the drain clogs but also removed the broken snake cable from the pipe. I needed a new sewer lateral installed and shopped around until I found an affordable quote. I was pleasantly surprised when I received such professional and courteous service on top of it. They had to install 88 feet of new sewer and the sewer main was across a busy street so it wasn't an easy job. On top of that I was considering laying some concrete over a section of the pipe to protect it from occasional cars parking and Tracey came to my property to talk to me about it and explained that I didn't really need it because the pipe is guaranteed for 100 years and is super strong. Where to begin. When the pump for our small private street that serviced 5 houses went out, many companies refused to even consider taking the job or helping us.
