Hey Fatima, What's sewing on? This location was recommended to me by one of my neighborhood Facebook groups. Someone else was asking for a place to go for alterations a while back and I remembered that I would put this in my mental rolodex. On an item for my daughter, the work was done fast the price was great and they even texted me when they were done. I came in picked up the item, the craftsmanship is great. I will be back to them to get more items taken care of. read more

Garbage, I'd rate negative stars if that was possible. $55 to sew on 4 basic patches onto a shirt. The work was super shoddy, crooked, and the patches were hanging off, literally only sewn on in 2 or 3 places at most. To top it off, she texted me to let me know my pieces were ready and when I arrived to pick up, I ended up waiting at the front for almost 30 minutes while they ignored me, just chatting with each other. I even texted and called her (and could hear the notifications on her phone) and when I walked to the room they were, they were just looking at me sitting around doing nothing and continued gossiping to each other without even bothering to tell me to wait longer or anything. It was such a bizarre experience. I just went back to the front and continued waiting till they eventually checked me out. Seriously no idea how anyone could rate this place over 1 star. read more

I called the number and she texted me a location that was out of the way and even harder to find and caused me to be late to another appointment. She's the sweetest lady... I read some of the reviews and I get it... we want things now, we want people to answer our calls the first time and always be available... Well this is a small family owned business and you have to be patient.. I believe it's Fatima and maybe her sister or family member helping... I called to check on my jeans and she called me right back.... Swung by and picked them up in a jiff... $20 cash for a zipper which is pretty decent in today's time... I will recommend Fatima and will be back! If you are in a deadline make it clear to her and follow up... she's worth it! read more

I only have experience getting curtains hemmed from Fatima. I have no crafty bones in my body so I really appreciated her help! Her turnaround time for me has typically been 1 week but I'm usually in no rush at all. She does a really job and her pricing is very reasonable for hemming lined curtains. read more

Setting expectations certainly affect your sentiment post-deliverable. Maybe because it's a family business, it's run very informally. In other words there isn't any form of consultation, where the customer (or really at that point, prospective customer) confirms the work needed and then the scope of work is decided before agreeing to the work + cost. In any case, I went in as my friend had previously had her dress altered for a reasonable price. She (friend) told me it should be no more than $30 to be done in less than 2 days (based on her experience) and with that I didn't follow my process (completely my fault). Mistake 1: I allowed her to score (mark up) my dress before having a conversation (when I needed it / how much) Mistake 2: After asking how much it would be after the scoring, being satisfied with the response 'when you come back to pick it up' In the end, to cut 2-3inches off the bottom of the dress and re-sew was $75. Maybe OK? Timing: she had promised it was to be done by EOD next day, but she didn't start the work two days later and it evidently took no more than 45minutes. Quality: It was done as someone that knows how to sew but not $75 worth, no. My review might be biased as I don't go to tailors that often and it's such a weird market that they can command their own prices and it is what it is really. But to get the best / most informed experience, here's Tips for Dummies (read: me) - before any tailor touches the item in any way (scoring tool, pins, etc) CONFIRM: -pricing, completion deadline (BE FIRM), any unknowns that could change pricing. Will I go back? No because even if I hadn't put on my dunce hat before entering the shop, patronizing her means constantly following up to ensure it's ready. And no matter the agreed on date/time it seems you would still need to actively ensure it's being worked on / completed by expected date. I don't have that time, especially when I'm paying full price. read more

I unfortunately cannot recommend this shop for alterations. Dropped a couple of clothing items off for minor fixes and was told to call in a week. When I call a week later, she tells me it's not ready and to try again the next day. No big deal. I was busy so didn't call again until the beginning of the following week. This time I am told that she needs to look through some things and will call me back in five minutes, but she never does (I asked if she prefer I call back and she insisted that she'd call me instead). Two days later I try again and am sent to a full voicemail box. I do get a call back and am once again told that she needs to look to find the status of my items and again I'm told she promises she will call back in 5. Once again, I don't hear back the rest of the day. Thankfully, the next day I get a message my items are ready for pick up. I arrive and am charged slightly higher than I was told, but don't even feel like arguing about it. However, when I more closely analyze my clothing items in my car, I notice the stitching I asked her to correct is poorly done (looks like it'll be unraveled in a few washes) and doesn't match the rest of the stitching. She used a yellow thread instead of brown, and it's obvious. The wait and poor communication are things I could have overlooked if the work done was of quality. In fact, all I wanted was her to tell me a timeframe and stick with it so I didn't have to keep following up. It didn't matter much to be what that timeframe was. But being charged more for shoddy work is just unacceptable. If I had a sewing machine, I could have done a much better job myself. I'm sure some of her work is good. The dresses inside the shop look like they're done by a pro. I think she just determined my job was low priority and rushed through it so she wouldn't have to receive another call from me. I wish I would have taken seriously previous reviews. If I could give negative stars , I would. This is a family small business. Very disorganized, You can't communicate with Fatima directly, she doesn't speak English. Upon arrival I was left waiting for 20m while 3 employees did some type of dress fitting / alterations. I was quoted $10 per patch to be sewn on my daughters Letter Jacket. I was told 2 weeks (5 patches) arrived to pick up 18 days later, and patches NOT done. Told to come back the next day at noon. Arrived at 1pm and charged $135 .. yes, $135 to sew 5 patches on a jacket when I was quoted $50. When I questioned the amount, Fatima wasn't "available ". And the lady checking me out just shrugged. I was stunned. I wasn't going to come back a third time, and didn't trust if I left the jacket behind it wouldn't "disappear " I am saddened, because I am a BIG supporter of small business. . read more

I actually had a completely different experience than some of the other reviews that I read. I randomly walked into this alterations store while needing a dress altered for a friend's wedding. I had not read the reviews though until after I dropped off the dress, and so naturally I was a bit concerned with the way that I would turn out. But the lady listened intently as I told her what I wanted on the alteration while pinning up the dress and the measurements. And on picking up the dress and trying it on again, it was everything that I asked for and more and I was very pleased with her work and attention to detail. I am a pretty particular customer when it comes to the fit of my clothes and fashion, and I will definitely be back. Although the pricing was a bit expensive, I do not mind at all paying for quality work because you get what you pay for and her work is definitely worth it. My only constructive criticism would be that the language barrier was a bit of a challenge at first, and perhaps to make sure to call the customer and let them know when they're clothes are ready. Other than that, I actually had a pretty great experience and will definitely be a return customer when in need of alterations in the future. read more

If there was a zer0 option that what this business would receive. After we take my daughter's dress (she saved up for, plus alterations) to drop off, they measured, marked and made notes, then told us it'd be ready in 10 days. That was Monday, we go to pickup, they have to find it, realize they it wasn't done correctly and had to make adjustments. Tell us to come back the next day, Tuesday, still not ready and doesn't fit properly. Go back today and finally fits correctly, but it's $128, no discount, no I'm sorry for it not being done on time, etc.... When asked about it, they said people make mistakes. I don't know about anyone else, but when I make a mistake I own up to it and take my lumps and or lose money. Why, so my customers are happy and more importantly, I do what I say I was going to do, when and for the price agreed upon. Please don't let your son, daughter, wife, husband, etc... start crying on your shoulder when you when to reschedule photo shoots, can't wear your important dress, suit, pants, etc.... on your special day, UNLESS you're OK with it all being a few days LATE and more expensive than ever expected. read more

I took six long dresses to Fatima. Was told they would be done by a certain date. Returned to pick up dresses on that date. They were not done. Told to return next day. When I came in to pay for the dresses, they had overcharged me for seven dresses. One of the dresses came unravels after the first wear. Would not recommend going to them for alterations. read more

Second time was the same story, plus the hem started coming out after one washing. Family members have had a major problem with a prom dress. Her attitude is left to be desired. I brought in a one of a kind designer formal gown for alterations for my son's out of town wedding. I brought it in on a Tuesday, inquiring if they could take it in & slightly up, & by Thursday, when we were leaving town. She said she's have it ready by 5:30pm. I got there at 5:30pm (on way out of town), & she said she needed 30 more minutes. I waited, & while waiting several customers came in and out, 3 of them had major complaints. She begged one lady to let her redo the bad sewing work, saying she could do it in 10 minutes, which she put ahead of mine & bumped mine. I then got to see that they had my gown in a heap & were having to iron it & were razor cutting the bottom of the dress with a quick hand. 3 different people passing it back & forth in the back, as they prioritized the other lady's repair. She finally brought the gown out & insisted that I try it on, so I did. It had been butchered & it was unwearable! the straps cut deep into my shoulders & neck, & the way the bottom had been cut was obvious & straight across, instead of around the gown. It was also no longer to be a floor length gown but closer to tea length. I was horrified & I left in complete tears, leaving my ruined, one of a kind, gown, & leaving town late, with nothing now to wear to my son's wedding! She never even apologized once, & had simply kept telling me that she was very busy. I wouldn't trust them to touch anything! read more

Will never come here again! This lady charged me $95 to hem up an inch and just to make the straps on my daughters prom dress a little tighter! Didn't need much to do it at all! When we came the first time on Tuesday, it wasn't even ready to begin with! As I asked her about the price she said that she needed to pay her workers, like that's why she charged that much! Well you know how much my daughters dress cost me!!! $120 for her dress! This is an outrageous charge and I will never come here again!!!! If I could give negative stars, I would. My daughter had a beautiful BCBG dress purchased for prom. She took it into Fatima SOLELY for a 1/2" hem around the bottom. But when she picked up the dress, Fatima had literally deconstructed the dress, put it back together incorrectly, and added modesty panels on the v-neck (front and back) that were neither requested nor there when we brought it in. She literally cut the black, floor-length lining out of the dress and made panels on the front and back of the v-neck. Whatever she did ruined the dress, and even the hem is not straight after everything else she did. My daughter was devastated; turned her dream dress into a disaster. When asked about it, she LIED and said she did not add the panels. I guess little elves in her shop did it then.....truly the most disappointing, surreal, and incredulous experience I have ever had with a vendor. DO NOT GO HERE read more

Took a blue collar work shirt in to have 2 name plates patches and 2 arm sleeve patches that I provided to be sewn on. Could not give me a quote up front. I figured it wouldn't be much. $43 later what! For some simple patches that I provided. The shirt and patches didn't even cost that much. Said it would be ready Wednesday, I came Thursday wasn't ready they said they would hurry up and sew them on come back in an hour. Shirt was full of misc thread stuck to it. Took in a pair of brand new business pants that needed the waist adjusted. I was measured for the alteration to make the waist smaller. When I went to pick them up they actually made the waist larger! She said she would correct in a few hours and would give me a call when complete. I never received a call so I went to pick up a few days later. When I arrived the waist was adjusted correctly but there was now a small hole on the pant leg. I let her know that these were brand new pants and the hole was not there when I dropped off. She refused to accept responsibility and told me I needed to pay for the alteration. 0 customer service and professionalism. Pants are ruined! read more

Excellent work!!!!! I needed help with two projects that I was incapable of doing. One was a tear on a little girl's dress - you can't even see the repair! I love working here I'm her 14 year old assistant and I see how she always tries to satisfy her clients. She doesn't like for her clients to pay for the stuff when they drop it off bc she tells me that she doesn't want them to pay and for them to not be satisfy with the results. She does great alterations and always tries her best with her work. She doesn't speak English fluently but I'm here to help and assist her and you all. She tends to get along with her clients and make friends. Her store, some ppl say how it's a joke her place and all but she tries her best to keep it clean and nice, she tells me how she feels bad that she just doesn't have the time to clean up or organize some stuff and I understand bc of all the work I see her doing, she even deserves her lunch break but she doesn't have a lunch break bc she rather do all the work she needs to get done and makes sure it's well done. I help organize and clean the place and i also help at the front desk. I recommend this place not bc I work here but bc I see how she puts effort in her work and how she tries her best to not disappoint herself of her work or her clients. The other two women are also very nice but don't speak well English but they would gladly try to understand you and help you as much as they can. Also if you expect really low prices this might not be the place for you bc she pays for her time and for the work she had to do depending the alterations she did, not saying her prices are extremely expensive but ppl tend to think different. read more

Took a pair of pants in to get altered and when I went to pick them up they were not ready and she could not find them in the piles of clothes that were laying around. I had to go find them myself. She then told me to come back in an hour and they would be ready. We went back a couple hours later and they were ready. Here is the kicker..... I took them in to have them let out an inch and when I put them on she had taken them up an inch in length and cut off the material. Now the suit pants are ruined. read more

We brought in an expensive down comforter that our dog had chewed a hole into the corner of the blanket and the corner of the blanket's cover. So we wanted both holes sewed up because neither my boyfriend nor I know how to sew. My boyfriend took in the blanket and they lady told him it would just be cheaper to buy a new blanket. Um, this was a pretty expensive down blanket? But then, they quoted him $25-30. So he dropped it off thinking it would be an easy fix. When he went to pick it up, he had to pay $47, which is almost DOUBLE the quoted price. Regardless, he just wanted the blanket back and paid what they charged him. Once he takes the blanket home, he realizes the cover of the blanket had been sewed up, but the actual down comforter still had a hole it in? So he had to take it back to fix the hole, again. The woman at the front was very unapologetic. Once he goes and picks it up for the second time, the hole was fixed, but the woman said that this was all they could do and they couldn't fix it any further. All in all, save yourself the time and money. TRUST THE OTHER YELP REVIEWS, I sincerely wish we did. read more
