Bought a machine from this site for my daughter's birthday. OF COURSE it was during the pandemic. I almost gave this a 4 star review because it was not communicated to me that the machine I chose wasn't in stock. It said shipment in 5-7 days. I waited but it didn't arrive and the tracking didn't update. First time shopper with Sewing Machines Plus I was afraid I'd fallen for one of those scams. But, what happened next is why I've given it a 5-star review. These reviews showed an employee named Jean might be one who could help. Within hours of reaching out to her, Jean responded and got the ball rolling for me. Who could foresee the massive interest in sewing, especially for beginner sewing machines, during COVID - I didn't! The Singer I chose for its simplicity Jean said was coming but so many people wanted it and I was far down on the list. We discussed my options. Jean was amazing, sending me comparisons, counseling me on which would be best for a beginner who, due to the crisis, could not have me there with her to assist! I chose a Janome, a little bit more $ but not unreasonably so. The machine had more functions than the Singer and reminded me of my Elna, which would be cool because my daughter learned on the Elna! Jean's files showed it was coming on the next weeks' delivery. Awesome! Well it didn't. But before I even new that, Jean immediately contacted me, and knowing I wanted something asap (my daughter was hand-sewing masks for herself and people who didn't know how to sew!), had a few others to substitute, some less money, some the same, and some a bit more. I chose one I hadn't considered before because they actually had some delivered that day - a semi entry level Brother's (brand my daughter was looking at before crisis), with cool features and a little bit LESS than the Janome. It arrived at my house exactly when Jean said it would! Jean is a wonderful employee. I work in retail and I wish I could steal her away! She gave the best customer service under the worst possible circumstances. It was obvious to me she cares about her customers and she cares about the business she works for. I know I will support this business again, and bonus, it's only about 30 mins away! My daughter and I are looking forward to the day the closures are lifted and we can actually walk into the store in San Marcos. I moved to California 18 months ago and soon after arrival my sewing machine started giving me problems. A new friend and colleague told me about Sewing Machines Plus. I am so glad she did. I have been sewing since age 4 having grown up in a family of seamstresses and tailors. I know sewing machines. I know sewing. But my love is quilting. First, Quality. Sewing Machines Plus carries quality products. And they stand by their products. Second, Service. The Service Department is top notch. They are knowledgeable, helpful, and dedicated. They have responded with problems and difficulties with patience and diligence. Third, Custom Service. The Best! I have been in the store a number of times and observed over and over again how their sales people help customers. They talk to the customer. They find out their customer's sewing needs, financial concerns, physical concerns. Meaning: they care about their customers. They recommend machines to their customers according to the needs of the customer, not the sale or commission to be gained. They are patient and concerned. They want the sale, but not at the expense of the customer. My own personal experience at Sewing Machines Plus confirms what I observed. I have bought several machines in the 18 months since moving to California and am totally satisfied with every purchase made. I have recommended them to others. Today, I recommend this store to anyone interested in purchasing a new machine and the assorted accessories needed or desired. Good people. Great product! They do get busy. They try to provide personal service each and every customer that walks in the door. So if you visit the store and are "looking" they will give you the space to do so as there are always customers who are needing help. If you want to buy, they will assist. I wish they were open later in the evenings or on Sundays. But, I don't want to work evenings or weekends so why should others. I am looking forward to their bigger store and larger classroom! This is April 2020 most of you know corona virus is with us. I decided to make some masks for friends and family I pulled out my sewing machine. It was not very cooperative. So I got 1 from a friend. It didn't wanna cooperate either.I went to several stores -no sewing machines in stock Anywhere.I found this website And ordered a machine. Actually my mother in law and I both ordered a Janome 2212. It was on back order. We called and were told that it would be in in a week but unfortunately Unbeknownst to us , that particular representative was confusing our model numbers...So when we didn't receive our machines in the next week or so we called. The wait time was quite long I was on hold for an hour before Jean answered.I have to admit I wasn't too worried about the hour wait time. I knew they were busy and I put my speaker on and was doing other things around the house so no biggy. When jean answered she was so pleasant and upbeat and this is late in the day this like 5pm or so.If I had been on the phone all day with possibly irate customers- people upset because orders hadn't come in and so forth, I wouldn't have been as pleasant as she was. Not only was she pleasant she was extremely helpful gave us as much information about the incoming shipment that she had received and gave us that information. So now we have to wait another week or so but you know what I'm okay with that I still need a machine. And if I have to get 1 at least it was from someone who was so pleasant and had knowledge about the delivery the machine and everything else she's a winner in my book,5 stars? I had been looking at the Baby Lock Brilliant sewing machine for months. I tried one out at a local dealer but I just couldn't bring myself to spend the money. Finally, last week, I took the plunge. I paid extra for expedited shipping; it was scheduled to arrive by 8 pm on Saturday. I was home and waiting for FedEx to arrive. Around 2:20, I checked the tracking and found that delivery was "attempted" but the home or business was closed! WHAT?!?!? I was HOME! No one rang the bell, knocked on my door, my dog didn't bark! Finally, I checked my Ring Camera and the truck showed up at 1:34, sat in front of my house for 30 seconds, and drove off! The driver never got out of the truck much less walk up to my door, knock or leave a tag on my door. I called the carrier; after I got through the virtual customer service person at FedEx, I was able to speak to a representative who was of no help, offered no options other than wait until Tuesday. I decided to call Sewing Machines Plus and at least let them know that the carrier did not fulfill the delivery. I did not get a recording or a virtual robot. A real, live person answered and immediately connected me to customer service. Rosita patiently listened to me, apologized, and thanked me for letting them know. She was caring, sympathetic, and promised to follow through on Monday with the carrier. Around 11 am on Monday, Rosita called me to tell me the delivery date had been moved up to today and that my machine would be delivered by 8 pm. At 8:30 pm, I received an email from Rosita; she knew my machine arrived and wished me a good evening. Rosita's demeanor and understanding on Saturday had a very calming effect. I knew she would stay with me until the machine arrived. Amazing. Excellent follow-through. This is my second purchase from Sewing Machines Plus and it will not be my last. I spent a lot of money on this sewing machine and it was a very good feeling to have Rosita in my corner. read more

After having serious timing issues with my 3-month old SINGER machine, I decided to invest in a BABY LOCK JAZZ II which I purchased from Sewing Machines Plus to continue sewing donated facemasks to our local essential worker HEROS and non-profit health-related provider organizations. When I received the new machine, I immediately had issues with the feed grabbing the fabric and shutting the machine down. After speaking with Sheila, who has repeatedly provided excellent customer service when my calls for support have not been returned, I was connected with a Tech Support expert who advised me that "almost all issues are due to customer error". After troubleshooting and having the same issue, he scheduled to have the machine picked up and returned for inspection. Before boxing it for pick up, I thought it may be related to the SINGER bobbin I was using and tried to troubleshoot the issue myself. I ended up calling back to inquire about the bobbin and was connected to an AWESOME customer service rep, "Robert," who took a considerable amount of time and energy to ask questions, provide helpful observations and suggestions, and, most importantly, reassure me that it was NOT AT ALL his experience that most issues were due to customer error. In the end, he was right! The issues I was having then, and continue to have, have nothing to do with the bobbin or error on my part but rather flaws in machine design, which, I are preventable as long as I keep a close eye on the upper threading with the hood up before the thread slips, the feeder sucks the fabric into the plate, which results in the motor shutting off. Although the BABY LOCK Jazz II is not my favorite and definitely has issues, from now on Sewing Machines Plus representative, Robert, is definitely my favorite "GOTU" customer care person and All Around Awesome Guy! I ordered a table insert for my Arrow Auntie Em sewing cabinet. The ordering was easy and quick with no issues. I had read on their site that these types of orders could take 4-6 weeks to ship. My order didn't show a proposed ship date although it stated it was a "drop shipment". I never had a drop shipment before and was unclear as to what that meant. As Labor Day was approaching I was uncertain of when the product would be shipped/delivered and didn't want it delivered and sitting on my porch while we were gone. So I placed a call to Customer Service, spoke with Sheila Lane. She was very courteous and plainly explained what drop shipment meant and how it worked with their shop. It still didn't address my concern about delivery. So I explained why I was calling. Shiela went above and beyond the customer service tasks and actually called the manufacturer to inquire about the order. She then called me and left me a clear message with precise dates on shipping. I was so grateful I emailed her this note! "Sheila, You are awesome at your job & you rock! Thank you! You have put my mind at ease... I appreciate the time and effort taken to help me! It is extremely upsetting to see the bad reviews for this store! I'm a professional Costume Designer, Tailor, and Pattern Cutter with 30+ years of experience under my belt. I have been to countless machine stores throughout the years and Sewing Machines Plus is by far the best store I have purchased from. And, I am a total machine snob, am extremely particular when it comes to machine performance, a total pain in the butt customer, and only I use the best machines! Since my last review, I have purchased 7 more machines from them...9 machines total in the last 3 1/2 years; and countless accessories. I have purchased a couple machines that I was unhappy with and I had absolutely no problems swapping them out, trading in, and upgrading to better machines. They have a very knowledgeable staff! Their Service Dept is incredible, knowledgeable, fast, and will sit down and talk to you so you can easily have a better understanding of how your machines work and the maintenance they need. I have always been treated very well! No matter how much of a pain in the butt I have been! I send colleagues and my students to them because I know they will be treated well and get quality! My current machines from SMP that I use all the time... Bernina 535 with embroidery (traded in Janome 9450) Bernina 735 Janome HD9 Juki MO 654 DE Brother Stellaire XE2 (started with Brother PE 800 and upgraded to Brother NQ1600 to Baby Lock Meridian 2) I live more than an hour north of their stores, and quite soon I will be living close to 2 hours away. I'm pretty damn sure I am not done upgrading and I will never shop anywhere else, no matter how far away I end up living. I specifically want to thank Laura and Corey! Sewing Machines Plus and Floriani software I bought Floriani Auto Digitizing Plus Applique software from Sewing Machines Plus on the internet, believing the description of it and how easy it is to use. it is easy to use only it doesn't work. the pes file I get is garbage, not even close to the simplistic bmp artwork I used. I don't think the software has been updated to work on Windows 7 Home Premium as it can't find Paint which it uses to make changes to the artwork. The help files are useless tutorials written for sales purposes. I can't say much for Sewing Machines Plus either, they first sent me a scratched copy of the software, which i could hear banging around in the unopened package. they quickly replaced it. When i complained about what crap the software is and how I couldn't get it to work, Janet, their expert, couldn't get it to work either. Torrie said i would get a return authorization to get my money back as I felt they had sold me a defective product. Afterwards she would not return my calls because she wasn't going to send it to me, for some unexplained reason. I am a loyal SMP customer having purchased 6 machines from them, not some crank. I live in maryland and buy using the internet and their website. Use caution before buying any Floriani software and make sure it will work on your operating system and actually does what it says it will do. Other companies will let you download a trial version of their software, not Floriani, probably because it doesn't live up to their claims. Caveat emptor, buyer beware! I still want my money back! The sales reps at SMP are great, friendly and helpful people but management doesn't seem to care if they sell defective software. No stars for Floriani ! Two stars for SMP management ! Let me premise this review. I fell for the deceptive marketing claims from another company and bought a sewing machine that was not at all the right one for my new business. Having ruined and destroyed hundreds of dollars of materials, wasted countless hours of my time and shed many tears, I decided to bite the bullet and buy a new machine. I reviewed many other websites, comparing pricing and decided to buy from Sewing Machines Plus. As a new business start up, I called to ask about splitting payment for a new machine because I was only able to get partial financing and needed to put the rest on my credit card. I called and it was my great luck to have Robert answer! His first response was "I can try and get you approved for more" which was so appreciated. Cash capital is tight right now for my business and I appreciate his offer. He asked me what I needed to machine for, fabrics and threads I was using to ensure that I was choosing the right machine. He answered all my questions very thoroughly. No high pressure sales and I was so comfortable asking him questions. Being new to the marine fabrication business, I am still learning and he never once made me feel stupid for my inexperience. He helped me select the proper needles and bobbins for the new machine and added them to my order at no extra charge. He explained the shipping procedures in detail and set all expectations on the time line in which I could expect to receive a call for delivery. And, he was able to get my credit line increased with 18 month interest free financing. And he offered to answer any questions that I may have moving forward anytime! I've watched SewingMachinesPlus.com for several years. They are always willing to give you a lower price than a competitor on the same machine. After a month of looking at a Janome Horizon Memory 8900 QCP and checking against Amazon.com, it seemed worth a phone call to Sewing Machines Plus. I had no idea that on a Saturday anyone would be available to speak with me. Pam Brown was. We spoke for almost an hour. Pam was knowledgeable, helpful and kind. Never once did she attempt to sell me a machine I couldn't afford or didn't know how to use. She asked me if this machine was the one of my dreams. God bless her! What did I know? I said that for me this was an amazing machine. Pam didn't pursue another machine at a higher price. I felt as if I was talking to a great friend who knew far more about quilting and sewing than I ever would. I had the most wonderful time looking at accessories, talking about their color and explaining my current situation--retirement. Pam made everything simple, fun and caring. She felt like the friend I don't have but always imagined. I wasn't talked into anything. My husband and I are looking forward to a fabulous machine that can be used for the next very many years. My husband and I are also looking forward to restructuring our current office to accommodate home sewing desires. Sewing Machines Plus and PAM made all this possible. I won't be doing business with anyone else for our sewing needs ever. The website is fabulous. Pam is extraordinary. I imagine most of the folks at Sewing Machine Plus are. Earlier in August I contacted SMP's Customer Service, Michaela Pistilli took my call and stepped up to the challenge! Her patience with an old lady was reassuring and patient. I had ordered and received a Juki HZL-F 300, after receiving it I decided to add the knee lift. It turned out to be on back order. With all that's going on these days with delivery to vendors, I looked around for it's availability from other sources, the local dealer said it had been on back order for awhile and she could not estimate a delivery time. Meanwhile I located one on line and ordered it. I'm sure I notified SMP to cancel my order, but I must not have as they notified me that they had received a shipment and were getting ready to ship it. I called and Michaela took my call. She went to the trouble to see if it had been shipped, verified that they had not shipped it and made sure I had not been charged. The whole time she was business like but kind, reassuring me that my request was no big deal and she was delighted to do it. I must say this is not my only time working with SMP's customer service team, they have always been excellent. As side note....the Juki has turned out to be a fantastic machine. Having been in the 'business' for over fifty years. I closed my work room several years ago because of ill health. I missed the industrial machines, I have tried several different machines and was disappointed. The Juki for what I call a 'domestic machine' tackles anything I throw at it, doesn't complain or hesitate ... just tackles it without hesitation. Both SMP and Juki are winners! read more

I AM SHOCKED!!! I really find it hard to believe when reading some of the negative reviews. I live in NH and I have been shopping online with SewingMachines Plus for about 5 years now and I bought two Juki's that I absolutely love. I also plan to buy a Juki serger within the next year. I do not think that the staff here are trying to upsell you but it is their job to ask you questions in regard to your skill level or what you need out of a sewing machine in order to help you decide on the right machine for your level, need and budget. The products sold through SewingMachines Plus are not cheap throwaways that you will be replacing over and over they will stay with you for life or until you decide to upgrade in which I hope you would pass down your older starter machine to a beginner family member or friend. I find it very hard to believe the negative service given because everytime that I have ever had to speak with anyone the "ladies and the gents" they all have always been pleasant very forthcoming and extremely helpful. Products that come from this business should be treated like the car you bought at the dealership because the products you buy are an investment. If you just want to put around with a little bit of sewing, quilting or what not, then I suggest going to Walmart and not waste this companies time. No harsh feelings here just my realist experience. To any new or potential customers before passing judgment based on reviews I recommend standing on your own two feet and you be the judge yourself. I had purchased a Brother airflow 3000, and not being able to try it out before hand, I had a conversation with the salesperson, who, honestly I felt really didn't listen to my needs. As he assured me that this serger would fit for me in my business, unfortually it did not in the end. I then was busy ( I am an independent designer/seamstress) that was up to my neck in prom alterations at the time of purchase. I gave the machine a try, a few times, but it just didn't do the job I needed it to do for my clients. After trying to work with it on and off, I decided I needed to find out if I could return it. I reached out with emails in June, July and no response back. So in August I reached out I called and customer service said they never received any emails and that I was beyond my 60 day return policy. To make this story a bit shorter - I asked to speak to a mananger and Laura was totally so helpful and understood what I needed. She helped me return the machine in exchange for one that I know is suited for my business. She was kind, did what she could and even though I did not expect any monies in return (the machines were quite a bit different in price) there was a refund. She handled this all the way and I know I will shop again with the company. It was a bit of miscommunication in the beginning, but I am to blame too for letting it go for so long. I appreciate everything that she did and now I will have the machine I should have been guided to in the first place. I am not only a first year sewer, but like others worried about purchasing online. I wanted a serger and spent many days looking locally and online, then narrowed it down to this company and one other. I was worried about a few of the negative reviews (although all companies have them), so I called them and got Gary in customer service. From start to finish my experience with GARY is over the top excellent customer service!! Gary was so patient with all my newbie questions and nervousness buying online. He was knowledgable and very honest when I asked about some of the negative reviews in 2017; and unlike another online company, did not make false promises, nor say what he thought I needed to hear. I am very impressed and appreciative! His caring to doing right the first time or make it right shined thru, and I applaud the person who hired him! Gary honestly stated they experienced some growing pains in customer service with the increased demand, and had to take time to do appropriate steps to fix it- such as hiring more employees. FYI: Each time I called I got right through to customer service. Once I easily placed order w him, I immediately received email confirmation. Within 2 hours received the tracking information. The price was the best out there, and they even helped me do a quick maintenance step before sending, since I am new to serging and not sure what to do. On May 11 I purchased a 10-needle Enterprise embroidery machine. I drove from the Fresno area just to deal with these people who I found to be very kind and helpful. I purchased the machine, koala cabinet, hat accessory and some bobbins and was able to put all of the purchases on a 48-month interest free loan! (I asked if I could add my house payment!). When I arrived home, I realized that two items were missing. No problem...I called the store and they shipped the items to me immediately at no cost. Yesterday I kept getting an error message on my machine regarding the hoop size. I called the store and when they realized I was over 4 hours away, the technician talked me through the entire repair process and I fixed the machine! I was delighted. I found the owner to be warm and friendly, knowledgeable and willing to work with his customers. Torrey was the one who demonstrated the machine and showed me all of the features and was very patient in doing so. (I had ridden in a car for four hours, was hungry, tired and maybe a little bit crabby.) I received excellent service from this dealership and the reason I drove that long distance is due to the dressing down I received from a dealer in Fresno because she found out I had purchased my 6-needle from a friend, instead of from the dealership. That was enough to send me in a different direction to find another dealer. I strongly recommend dealing with the people at Sewing Machines Plus. Shirley read more
