a month after ordering 1 spool of thread it finally came in and it was the wrong color. I ordered black and received shifting sand (multi-colored tan). I purchased the thread through this company because I was having a hard time with the machine (purchased through them) binding up on me and I thought it was the thread I was using. I have customers waiting for me to hem pants and sew patches and now I need to wait longer for the correct thread to come in. This is disappointing and frustrating to say the least. Nicholas J. is as good as they get. I am not much of a reviewer (said everyone that wrote a review ever), but had to come here to name drop Nicholas' name. Recently, I purchased a Juki TL-2010Q from Joann's in Salt Lake City, UT. I took a sewing class in junior high so I could flirt with the girls, but haven't done much since. After hours of reading and watching reviews, I decided that the TL-2010Q was what I needed to sew protective gear for my mini Aussies. Soon after buying the Juki, I realized that I wanted the zigzag feature so I called in and found Nicholas. He told me more about my Juki in 5 minutes than I learned so far, and way more than Joann's did in Salt Lake and Orem. After listening to my needs, Nicholas presented options and then placed a back order for a Barracuda. While waiting for the machine to arrive, COVID is killing supply chains, my imagination grew and I called to ask Nicholas questions. Nicholas listened, called a manufacturer about a the best way to approach a tricky situation and then came back with a recommendation that was also cheaper than my budget. Because of Nicholas, I am now dedicating the Juki to specific tasks that I never even considered to ask/think about during my research. The new Reliable 4200SW will be used for the other tasks. I am glad that finding Nicholas took so many years. If everyone had access to someone with his level of knowledge, social skills, and ability to listen to wishes, wants, and constraints, in addition to just being a cool guy, there would be too many people in the market and sewing machines would cost a lot more. Do not order from them. My well meaning husband ordered me a Juki and teflon foot in early November (it's now December 15). They were supposed to ship within 10 days of planning the order. We received the wrong teflon foot- a Babylock. When he inquired about the machine, he was told that it's shipping any day direct from the manufacturer and we would receive an email with shipping information. Not surprisingly, we have not and will now need to contact our credit card company regarding this fraudulent company. read more

Shipping took longer than I expected but the problem was with Fed Ex. They changed the delivery date last minute and I had to wait longer with no explanation. Im guessing something happened with the package. It had been busted open, taped back together, and was soaking wet. It fell apart when I opened it, but luckily I have not had to return the machine. I have no clue when I'm going to receive what I've paid for. I received excuse after excuse as to why they weren't able to fill my order. "The majority of the company is in Houston; Someone was going to call me(never received a call); They don't know what is in stock,Ect. Very disappointed. I took my sewing machine in a year ago to get the bobbin winder fixed. Recently, I went to use it and bobbin would not wind. I took it in and was told 5 work days and they would call me-target date of Oct. 3. I finally got a call on the 11th that it was ready and told it had been ready since the 7th. After I left my review here and with the BBB I received a phone call from Jean I believe was her name in the same day about 30 minutes after my posts. She saw my email, and that I wanted to cancel my order and get my full refund back. I told her that her website was false advertising and taking people's money because it was still allowing people to place orders for an out of stock sewing machine. I told her the day before we talked that I went through the process as though I was buying another sewing machine and it let me go through with it. She then told me that they went up that afternoon and changed it to where the machine could not be ordered right then. Jean also went on telling me how 5000 machines were being sorted that were received that day and there were people ahead of me and she still didn't know if I was going to get one in that shipment. She explained that they are trying to get shipments and how machines are in demand. I told her that was my purpose of reseating and purchasing this sewing machine from her company because they were they only ones at the time who has this specific machine. I explained what we are doing and how fast we needed it. I said that also should not have been an option. I would have understood more if different actions had taken place, but not for a generic email to be sent or my phone calls not to be answered. I also told her that I put negative reviews on BBB and here and that when she send me her statement I will write mine. That was last week. I got a response Yesterday from a completely different woman apologizing for not responding to my email, and apologizing on behalf of the company. I was given my full refund and am now done with this company. I am not changing my score though. read more

On January 31, 2020 my wife and I took an old sewing machine she had purchased on Ebay to Sewing Machines Plus to have the machine serviced and have 2 pairs of pinking shears sharpened. We picked up all 3 products on February 6 and made the mistake of not checking and testing the work they had performed prior to leaving the store. Upon getting home we discovered that their technician had taken all of the machine attachments that had been in a closed compartment on the machine, that there were loose parts on the "serviced" machine and that only 1 pair of the scissors had been sharpened. My wife was very upset that these parts had been taken from the machine and immediately called the store. She was treated in an extremely condescending and insulting way and became very upset. I then called their main store and spoke with someone who said they totally understood and that their service manager, Chris, would call me to help recover the missing equipment and get the machine properly serviced. He never called and essentially we will never do business with this company again. If for any reason you decide to give them a try be sure to inspect and test any work that they do prior to leaving the store, they provide horrible customer service once you have left. read more

I recently purchased a Babylock Jazz 11 sewing machine and wanted to return the machine because it bound up on me, they said that I would have to pay the shipping and a restocking charge 20% because I didn't have the box. I decided to see if I could get it to work properly, I changed the thread to cotton and adjusted the tension and it is working fine so I decided to keep it.I have requested that they replace the guide bar on the walking foot because it was broken, and they said they would. I guess I just needed to take the time to know how the new machine works instead of jumping to conclusions. read more

If you buy their in store unknown longarm machine the King Quilter, expect constant electronics issues that SMP is incapable of fixing, nor will SMP own the fact that the electronics are unreliable. I have owned a King Quilter Elite II Special Edition for 2.5 years. It's been down and nonworking all but about 7-8 months of that time. From the very beginning the tablet was constantly malfunctioning. SMP had no solution, just excuses and stories that quite frankly do not make any sense at all. Someone tell me what this sentence means, it came from their service manager. ""Since the machine comes still sewn off from the testing it is possible while taking the sew off out thread got caught in there or more likely it was jammed while threading."" Not only does this not make sense, how does pulling thread from the thread path jam the bobbin when. the machine is off and there is no bobbin in the machine? Explain that! How does threading a longarm jam the bobbin? Explain that, because that is what this guy is saying in that jumbled word salad of poor excuses. This is what you deal with at SMP when you need service. They come across as the best, until it means actually taking responsibility for their product, and for their screw ups. Add to that, "the tablet is humidity sensitive" he said. What? So, I took the man at his word and put a dehumidifier in my studio, it helped for exactly 7 months. When I asked SMP why no other brand of longarm needed a dehumidifier to keep the tablet from blacking out they had no answer. And the dehumidifier was a waste of money, it ultimately had not one thing to do with making the tablet perform, that' was my gullibility slip, I own that. Then, in August of 2023 I had a total electronics failure, the whole system went spastic and then died. Nothing would work. The machine would turn on, but nothing else would turn on. SMP said, yes, that's an electronics failure, ship it to us, we'll go through the machine and replace the tablet and handlebars with upgraded electronics we have for that machine." Myself, my husband and my son and my neighbor very carefully boxed up the machine tablet and handlebars and all connectors and sent it to SMP. I got the machine back, the "upgraded tablet and handlebars" and the very instant that I plugged them in and turned on the machine, it all shorted out, tablet went gray, handlebar buttons would not respond. Let me type that again...THE INSTANT I PUSHED THE ON SWITCH THE ELECTRONICS FAILED, again, But....according the service manager who wrote that word salad above "it is impossible that a short didn't travel to the machine". "he assures me" He has yet to prove how he knows this to be true. So...I want SMP to replace the machine and the electronics because common sense dictates that those shorts could have caused damage within the machine that the electronics plug into. But SMP's service manager swears that it is impossible that shorted out electronics equipment that plugs into the machine could do damage within the machine. It is at this point that I know I am doing business with a company that is going to be a nightmare. NOTE***I have been through this with a previous longarm, one part kept shorting out and taking out all the parts connected to that one part. That company owned the faulty design that caused this failure 5 times in 7 months. The company refunded my money and took the machine back. That is called doing business honestly and owning the faults in your product*** SMP will not own their faulty electronics, nor will they own the damage faulty electronics can do to the machine itself. On top of senseless excuses, SMP's techs have talked to me as if I'm stupid, insinuated that I lied and said I am incapable of packing a box properly. They claim I damaged the handlebars in shipping them, which is a lie. A bold faced lie. I have witnesses who watched me pack that box, they claim I taped the handlebars to the box. I did not. That is utter calumny. They claim the bobbin was jammed when I sent it to. them, that too is utter calumny. I have learned that doing business with sewing machines plus means you have to document every time you touch their product and document any packaging to send parts in for repair because they blame the customer for their ineptitude. I suggest to anyone returning the King Quilter to Sewing Machines Plus, that they make SMP hire someone to pack it because they will accuse you of packing it so that parts break, then lie to you about it. If you email the owner Ron Martin, you will get a "blocked" message back because this business owner hides from the customers, as do the executives. If you email the leaders, you hear from service department, the bosses will avoid you at all costs. That tells me more about Sewing Machines Plus than their hype will ever tell me. Bosses in hiding = do not trust. Here I sit still arguing with this company on Sept. 12, 2023 with a broken longarm. read more
