My husband and I stopped in to pick our wine shipment a couple of weeks ago and do a little wine tasting. It's aways a great experience whenever we walk into the tasting room. The ambiance is relaxing and decor is beautiful with its nautical theme. The wines are phenomenal and hospitality by the servers are above the top. A special "thank you" to Judy, our tasting room rep who just made us feel so welcomed even though it was not our first time in the tasting room. She kept us engaged with conversation about the wines and varietals and by the end of our visit, we ended upgrading our membership! read more

I thought the atmosphere was very upscale but VERY cold! The service was okay but the staff wasn't very lively or friendly. We paid $10 for 5 tastings and I was underwhelmed with their reds. I screwed up my face at a few of their wines...good God I wish I could remember which but I think it was a rose. I couldn't finish my small taste in my glass...it made me shudder. I am giving them 2 stars for one reason and one reason only: Their Chardonnay (I don't like Chardonnays at all) was DIVINE! It was peachy, creamy and buttery. I've never tasted a Chardonnay like this before! After tasting theirs, I made it a point when I hit other wineries to compare what I tasted at Sextant to others. Sextant ranked supreme in the Chardonnay category! Bravo! I won't be back to taste but will be back to buy a case of that amazing Chardonnay!!!! read more

This was our favorite winery in all of California (we traveled down the coast for 2 weeks and visited 10+ wineries). The Chardonnay was AMAZING. Sharyn poured wine for us, and I am so glad we met her. She also gave us lots of awesome recommendations for the rest of our trip and was so friendly. First off I want to say that this winery is adorable, cute, and has a great staff. The wine does taste good which was why I became a wine club member... The reason why I'm writing this review was how I got mislead into What I was going to get... They don't tell you how many bottles you get with each order but they promise you it's under $160, stupid me thinking that it might be a six case box delivery, maybe even 12... "I can wish, right?" My first delivery ended up being two bottles for $146. Wow! I was super surprised I really wish someone would've gave me the heads up before I became a member that this was what I was signing up for. I very much so enjoy all my wine club memberships with other wineries where I don't feel like I'm getting ripped off. My other memberships always email me or text me before an order is even placed so if I have a friend to pick it up or I can it's there. When I called to tell sextant I had someone picking up the wine they already mailed it. My last thing I want to say, because I feel like I got cornered intothere high-priced membership club wine I wanted to cancel because I wasn't happy which resolved in a $50 fee. I'm a chef by profession so I can buy great wine at wholesale price but I like to support wineries. But I truly felt like I got scammed. By all means come taste their wine but really second look at the club membership. read more

Sad to say this tasting room didnt let me cancel 2 month ahead of the fall shipment. I was told it was already being processed. I then went to the tasting room and the staff had completely changed. They were all young and seemed to have little skills in customer service. Very disappointed, wont be back! read more

Sextant is my most favorite winery to stop at while in Paso. Although, their tasting room is indoors their wine is perfect. Lot of choices and the staff is very friendly. Good place to join for a wine club too! Best part is this winery is dog friendly :) read more

So this review is for my visit this past Sunday 9/6/15. I am a wine member here and there was a members only event that day but I was turned down and told they can not accomodate my party even though I am a member there and was in Paso Robles celebrating me getting married next month with my girlfriends. Service was horrible and the girl that I talked to seemed annoyed. I feel like there is so many wineries in Paso that have great wines with fabulous customer service and this place is not one on my list anymore. Needless to say, I will be canceling my wine club membership and will not be coming back her on my next visit to Paso! read more

I had been to their winery in Edna Valley, and heard about the VIP room in Paso. This place is almost the complete opposite of the Edna Valley room, but that is what makes it special. They had really nice acoustic tunes playing in the background and very knowledgable staff without being overbearing about their wines. We sat in the wine club member room and had the vintner himself pouring us wines. It was very personal and the wines get better and more complex as you go down the list. Will definitely visit again. The only thing preventing me from giving 5 stars was the price. read more

We loved this place. We stopped on a whim as we were driving down 46. The parking lot was empty but to us, that meant we wouldn't have to be in a room filled with loud peope. So we went in. The tasting room is beautiful. Our pourer showed us around the facility and explained the wines wonderfully. My favorite was the Holystone & Wheelhouse. I also got a bottle of the late harvest Zin. All in all it was a wonderful stop. I would have joined the club if I didn't already belong to so many. We will return. read more

Love the wines at Sextant and Amy. She remembers us every time we come in and is so gracious! Our favorite wines here are the Wheelhouse Zin and the Kamal. We drive five hours to get this wine! My husband and I visited this tasting room a few weeks ago. It's new and still being worked on but much better than their previous that was off the beaten path out in the production wherehouse. I have always enjoyed sextant wines especially their zins. Some are just to die for. It shared a driveway with grey wolf (also excellent) so don't miss it. Despite loving their wines, our favorite this trip was the excellent conversation with the pourer. So many of them are such stick in the muds and recite an ingredient list and can't wait to get you out of there. Not this guy, you could tell he loved to talk and laugh with you in addition to pouring the wines. I wish I could remember his name to give him proper kudos. Also, one of the owners Craig came out and recommended villas creek for dinner. One of my best meals ever! Thanks sextant for contributing to our amazing visit! read more

I really like the "new" tasting room. (New to me, anyway. Last time I was here, we tasted in a warehouse.) It's beautiful and roomy. Most importantly, of course, is the wine. I love the Wheelhouse. I always buy a bottle. Their chardonnay is really good for the Central Coast area. And of course the Kamal...if you can get your hands on it, buy it! The staff is friendly, and seem to be able to keep up with large groups as easily as couples. read more

We loved their tasting room. It was really cool and loved how they mixed rustic and modern, if that's a good description. We loved the wine. We purchased 1 bottle of their GSM and I'm regretting not purchasing more. So good! They've got several on their tasting menu that have 90+ ratings by Wine Enthusiast. We also purchased a few bottles of their wheelhouse zin which was very yummy and a good price point. The server we had was somewhat new but he was great to get the other server to come over and answer any questions we had which was good. I'll be going back next time we're in Paso. read more

Visited Oct 21, 2013 This is my second time at Sextant, I like whatever stone they used for the bar and wanted another look at it. Plus it's a quick stop off 46. We were treated well by counter staff, not overly engaging, but no real complaints. My wife LOVED the 11 Chard. I don't drink the stuff but she went 'ape-sheet' over it. The GSM was OK (Caverio?). I bought some 10 Wheelhouse Zin last year, but didn't care for it this time. What I DID like was the 11 Holystone. Give that a little time to open up and it's really nice. Not a bad deal at $28 either (can't find it on their website, so maybe it's a club option only) 3 1/2 stars for Sextant. I'd go back. read more

Went to the winery and enjoyed ourselves so we decided to join their wine club. We subscribe to a number of wineries and find it a great way to sample their wines. It's like a treat to get a selection of 4 to 6 bottles every few months for a few couple of hundred dollars. On our first shipment from this winery, they shipped us their most expensive bottles on their shelves. An $80 and a $40 dollar bottle of wine. Good way to get rid of your high priced bottles. All the ones we bought in their tasting room were in the $18 to $25 range. I know it's not bait and switch but was sure a shocker when we received 2 bottles in our first subscription and the tab was $139. When we called to unsubscribe they charged us $50 to cancel. Oh the joys of membership. After looking on their web site, most of their wines are listed between $16 to $31 retail. I guess only their special members can buy their $80 and $40 bottles. read more

I've been to Sextant's Paso and Edna Valley tasting rooms several times and realized I had never left a review. If you are looking for delicious, great quality wine then Sextant is a must. Their Paso tasting room is extremely beautiful, with elegant decor which makes a very enjoyable environment for your tasting, and you are able to see their fermentation tanks and the barrels which is pretty cool. The employees are all very knowledgable and friendly, and every time I have been there I always learn something new about the wine. My favorite bottle is their Holy Stone Zinfandel, I always have a bottle at my home. All together their wine is great quality and at a good price. I would definitely recommend a visit! read more

The wine is good, but the wine club is awful. When you sign up(no choice of what wine you want either, although that is common), you are forced to purchase wines at full retail, shipping charges you more than the wine, and they fine you $75 to cancel. For instance, I was just charged $130 for two bottles, if I was to walk into the winery I'd only pay $60 for both bottles. read more

So disappointed! My daughter and son in law bought me a bottle of wine from this winery on Mother's Day. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to drive to the winery in Paso ( I live in Manhattan Beach, Ca) to purchase a few cases to share with family who would be visiting from Europe in the summer of 2017 When I entered the wine tasting room I was immediately told prior to even a hello that I was not entering a average winery and that only VIP customers were welcome. I had to stop and think was I privileged enough to stay and taste? I wondered how do you say such things!! I have been very blessed in my life with good fortune but this winery made it clear that they serve only the elite. Because of this I could not nor would purchase the wonderful wine I drove so far to buy. With this attitude of superiority I truly don't know how they stay in business. Shame on you!!! read more

I thought the place was beautiful. I've heard some complain about the price for tasting, but when you travel a ways to get there, what difference does it make if it costs $10 unless you are freeloading. We bought a great bottle of Zin. I will say that of all the places that we went whether we paid or not, these were the smallest tasting samples. The reason for the two stars is how badly we were rushed. The gentleman helping us let us know that the reason he was working that afternoon was that he only came in for a large group. I liked the place, but we were in and out in a hurry, not on our own accord. read more
