From the moment we drove in, the experience felt elevated--being greeted with a glass of rosé right at arrival set the tone perfectly. The property itself is stunning, with architecture that feels like a modern twist on a Frank Lloyd Wright design--clean lines, expansive glass walls, and uninterrupted views of the rolling vineyard-covered hills. After walking up the long staircase (worth every step), we were met with breathtaking views that made it hard to focus on anything else--until the tasting began. Peggy, our server, was incredible. Her knowledge and storytelling brought the entire experience to life. She shared detailed insights about the wines and the owners, from their background in geology to how they carefully selected this unique property. It made every sip feel intentional and meaningful. And the wine--wow. Easily some of the best we've had in a long time. Every pour was exceptional, but we loved it so much we had to take a couple bottles home--especially the Chardonnay and the Sagacious red blend. The rosé is so good. That was what they welcomed us with. You take the elevator or stairs up and the views are stunning. Covered tasting areas. You have a guided tasting and someone is there with you every step of the way. Most of the reds are very good! Out of the 3 we tried 2 were good! We got a few bottles of those! I guess the only downside is you can't try their top wines without being a member. There is no discount for being a member. The top wines are over $105 so to not be able to taste them before buying is very pretentious. read more

It was a slow day on Thursday when we came there for our 10AM appointment in early June. The tastings took place upstairs up a few dozen steps. They have an elevator if you need to use it. The interior design is modern with large walled windows. The screen by the large table is a bit distracting with a video that they had on, so when our attendant was trying to talk to us about our wine, I kept glancing towards the screen. Soph (first pour) was a stand out! There is a waiting list for the black label so it's quite extraordinary. Remember to gas up or charge your vehicle before making your way up here. I'm not a member but got invited to the 2021 release pickup party and so glad I was. I wasn't familiar with Law and now I'm a big fan. I bought a lot (too much?) Law wine. My three favorites: Beguiling - the most approachable of all of the wines and not surprisingly the crowd favorite. Balanced with a lush finish. If you don't drink much granache, this is a good place to start. They say this is their best beguiling ever and it got 96 points from Jeb Dunnuck Sagacious - with approx 1/3 each of Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Syrah, there's a lot going on in this wine. (I think the official description is complex). You taste it right away but it has a long finish. I wonder how this will age but I probably will never find out because I'll drink it right away. Audacious -- this one snuck up on me. The cab gave it a bigger than expected taste but nearly two years of aging meant that it wasn't unruly at all. The wine I'd serve for someone who wanted to know what the fuss was about. 98 points from Jeb Dunnuck Aspire - this is their brag wine but it didn't move me. Maybe too young or I had already ruined my palette. I bought one to keep for 5+ years to see if I'll change my mind. The food pairing was very good -- kudos to chef Jeff. The standout was the mushroom grilled cheese with a dollop of blueberry. The law property is spectacular. Hang out on the back porch and forget about your troubles. It might feel a bit corporate at times but the family run touches still shine through. read more

I had really high hopes of visiting Law Estate Winery. We went on a windy/rainy day and the views were limited. I thought the wine tasting was extremely limited (small pours). I hate it when wineries pre-pour wines in 1.5 oz and all the wines are pre-poured before you enter the room. The pours for the standard wine tasting are quiet small. I didn't think the wines were exceptional -- nothing really blew me away (I've visited 100+ wineries in my life). I thought the prices were exorbitant too. The tasting experienced seemed a bit lacking - no music, nothing. I just didn't "feel" this winery. I probably wouldn't bother going back anytime soon. read more

It was a fabulous day with Nicole giving us a bunch of knowledge about the grapes & wine tasting. So glad we went to visit!!

My friends and I went to Law Estate on the recommendation of two of my husband's co-workers, a lawyer and a paralegal who are both serious about wine. The winery appears to be popular with lawyer types, but I guess it's actually named for the proprietors, Don and Susie Law, and lawyer types just like to booze. We booked our Saturday afternoon tasting a little more than a month in advance, and while I don't know if that was necessary, I do gather that it was wise, for a party of six. We showed up right at 4:00, on the heels of a long, pleasant tasting at Epoch. We were neither dead sober nor too drunk to appreciate Law Estate's excellent wines. The experience was very classy, definitely for serious customers, but not so formal that it wasn't fun. The property was beautiful, with gorgeous landscaping and architecture. We were greeted at the door with glasses of the winery's rosé, then led to the upstairs tasting room, which was enclosed by windows that gave us a full view of the grounds. Our host was a friendly, knowledgeable woman who sat with us through the entire tasting. I gather this is a standard thing at high-end wineries, maybe to provide maximum educational value while discouraging loud drunken revelry. There were four wines in the seated tasting: the 2020 Beguiling, the 2020 Aspire, the 2020 Audacious, and a blind tasting, which turned out to be the 2019 Audacious. All four were superlatively delicious, and our host did a wonderful job giving us notes on each glass. Law Estate doesn't have wide distribution, so I guess the only way to really get it is to sign up for their wine club. The thing is, you can't even sign up for the wine club because the membership is currently full. The best you can do is sign up for the waitlist. This exclusivity trick sure worked on our group because two of us (including me, obviously) signed up for the waitlist, even though this meant buying four bottles on the spot at no discount. These were the four reds in our tasting, which I was happy to take home. Law Estate isn't one of these little wineries that waive everyone's tasting fees just because a couple of people buy, either. The two of us who signed up got our fees waived, but everyone else had to pony up. It looks like members do get two complimentary tastings with each visit, and I hope to return before long with all the rights and privileges of a fully vested Law Estate membership. In the meantime, I'm excited to drink the bottles I was lucky enough to take purchase. read more

We were fortunate to visit and taste some wonderful wines here. The location and facility are beautiful. We signed up for their wine club but have to wait until early spring next year to confirm if they can fulfill our membership due to a lower than expected yield from their last harvest. They want to make sure their current members will receive their allotment, but they did allow us to purchase 4 bottles maximum to take with us. Their wines are delicious, and we look forward to opening them up later next year. It's definitely worth the visit if you can make reservations. They do not allow many visitors to taste at one time to allow a for a personal one on one experience, which is very nice. They have a beautiful property. Quick Summary Was really excited about all the reviews of Law, so did have high expectations. The wine was decent (probably a dropoff since Scott Hawley opened shop at Torrin), facilities were fantastic, but felt slightly rushed on the tasting. Views were decent. It's 4.5 stars but rounding up because of how nice the facilities were Tasting- 4 stars Had high expectations, but the wine was good but not great. Our somm was very interesting and had great recommendations. My only complaint was the pacing and how quickly the whole tasting went. I get they want to sell bottles and memberships, but didn't get enough time to really settle down and get comfortable Views- 4 stars The views are decent as there are a few shots of the vineyard rows and the mountainside. It's not particularly high up the hill, so you aren't going to get the expansive views you would get from Daou (but still a much better wine experience than Daou) Facilities- 5 stars Pristine facilities and we were seated in a gorgeous tasting room. Been wanting to try this place for some time. I love that they don't make you prepay for reservations. It's always disappointing when wineries do that but I get it. This winery is beautiful from inside to outside. Because we arrived early we were given a tour of the Barrel room which was awesome along with the production facility. The taste took place in a stunning room that faced the hillsides. The views were breathtaking. The lovely young lady taking take of our taste was perfect. She stayed with us in our room and guided us through the entire taste. She was super friendly and was wonderful at what she did The wines were solid. The audacious was my favorite taste. Didn't end up coming home with anything which is rare. I wanted to like the wine more but just didn't make the connection needed to justify the price but I was still very happy with the experience and would definitely come back with friends. read more

The venue is really special, the tasting room is stunning, and so well appointed, with incredible views. Our wine educator was warm and engaging, we really enjoyed our time with her. She was knowledgeable about the wines and the process, and walked us through the tasting and differences between the varietals. The structure of the tasting was interesting, and worked really well. Our visit to Law Estate Winery was influenced in some part by oenophile's we follow on Instagram. I made our reservation for 2 online a month in advance. They do request your credit card at time of reservation but it is not charged unless you cancel or are a no show. The grounds are beautiful and after touring the barrel room with a glass of rose in hand we were shown to our outside table under a pergola. With views of the vineyards we began our process of tasting through 4 of their red wines. Three wines were named and the 4th wine was a blind tasting. Our wine educator came from the fashion industry; great knowledge of the wine and outstanding customer service skills. All wines tasted were of high quality and well worth their price point which is on the higher side for Paso. We were also treated to a taste of "Soph", a white wine that was really impressing. Unfortunately, we were unable to purchase a bottle of the Soph because they were running low. Our granddaughter is Sophia and we call her Soph, so one can see why we would love to have taken a bottle home. Although nobody twisted my arm, the quid pro quo at Law is that you sign a form that you will join their wine club when a spot opens (a 6 bottle a year commitment), purchase 4 bottles of red wine during your visit and they will waive the tasting fees. The form also states if you cancel your membership before you receive the first shipment, they are authorized to go back and charge your card on file for the fee for tasting. Also, the wine club you join does not give you access to their black label wines. You have to be in the entry level wine club for a while to gain access to the black label wines. Outcome: we signed up for the entry level wine club, purchased 4 bottles of the red wine and they waived the $90 dollar tasting fee for me and my wife. Something else that bothers me that Law does as well as other wineries is to include the total of wines purchased in the suggested tip amount. This does not make sense. The tip amount should be suggested based on the price of the tastings in which service was provided. The wines I purchased came to $380.00 and to suggest I pay $76 for someone to hand me the wines is out of the norm. They do allow you to customize your tip. I opted to customize and provided a nice tip warranted on the service provided. Call this a pet peeve if you will but I don't see this practice in other businesses and therefore I will opt for the customized tip each time. Our visit to Law Estate Winery very well might have earned a 4 star review but because we enjoyed the wine, the venue and the service, I will award 5 stars... read more

Probably one of the vineyards I have ever been to. Napa, Sonoma etc. this place still stands out. Classy from the first moment you arrive. Greeted by Tim I think. Met both winemakers. Super friendly and humble. Loved the custom welcome sign and the tour. Would of liked a barrel tasting but I understand. Very European style wines and was superb. Tim could have not been better. I really enjoyed Law Estate. I loved the Sagacious, First Tracks, and Soph. I was really hoping to taste the Prima and Intrepid, but those are part of the Black Label Wines and not available. First Tracks and Soph weren't on our tasting schedule, but our host, Averi (sp?), was really paying attention to how we described the kinds of wines we like, and she brought us tastings of both FT and Soph. We ended up buying a couple bottles of both! The grounds are beautiful and the outdoor tasting area is spectacular. They really go out of their way to take care of you. After having an incredible experience at L'Aventure last year we made a point to come back to Paso Robles and taste more wines. Law came highly recommended so I booked our appointment. The views of the surrounding hills at Law were spectacular so the wife and I parked the car and walked around and took a few pictures. While we were doing this our tasting guide came out and handed us each a glass of Rose. Clos Selene and Epoch did this also. I loved it. It's such an elegant touch to be greeted with a glass of wine before you have even stepped foot in the door. We talked for a bit and then proceeded upstairs to the tasting room. We were the only people in the room this day which made the experience that much more special and intimate. We had a great time with our guide and she even took us outside to take some more pictures. This is the ultimate elevated wine tasting experience high up on a hilltop with an amazing view as far as the eyes can see. Without a doubt, Law is on the more upscale end of the Paso Robles wine tasting spectrum. Upon arrival, they start you off with a white wine called Soph, after the owner's daughter or granddaughter. I am more of a red gal, but this white was so delightful that I just had to have a bottle! We also thoroughly enjoyed the Audacious and Sagacious wines. Don't you just love the unique and sassy wine names too? Cari was our tasting host and she was absolutely lovely. We actually wanted to steal her for the day to hang with us. Without a doubt, we will return to Law when we're back in Paso. Two things to note of significance: 1.) The tasting hosts spend more time with you at Law than most other vineyards/wineries. I heard someone complain that they don't shut the eff up, lol. It didn't bother us, but if you prefer more of an "independent study" approach to wine tasting, this is not the place. 2.)
