I'm gonna give the Manager and their Customer Service skills a big fat ZERO. I went in to Sexy Nails for a no chip manicure and a pedicure as well as an eyebrow wax. After the pedicure was done I was told I had to wait for my mani 20 minutes because they now had appointments come in. There was a technician available who, I was hoping to get bcause she was good last time (shes the last station from front door), but to my SHOCK and surprise she said she did not want to work on my nails (said so behind my back/in front of my face but in their language) and I have no idea why. None!!! The last time I visited the store was a year or more ago due to previous unpleasant experience. The manager did/said absolutely nothing and I was given no explanation what so ever. This is at least the 3rd time that their customer service is called to question. It certainly isn't because of my tipping because I am at "the very least" a 20% tipper. I typically avoid them and normally go to "Right Nail" on Sheridan but today I was in a pickle and had no choice. Never again!!! read more

Biggest tip is to make an appointment ahead of time. There are a lot of people working here, but to guarantee an appointment I would call and schedule one just to make sure. I am here Friday at 12:30 and two people are getting a manicure and four are getting a pedicure. Your chances to get in without an appointment are much better during the week and daytime. The prices are very reasonable for Chicago and are what keeps me coming back. I always receive quality service, never any bleeding or mishaps. I appreciate the staff being so kind and always checking with me to see if the water is too hot during my pedicures. I am always thrilled with the length of time the pedicure lasts me without any chipping. The pedicure chairs have massagers, and there is a TV at either end of the shop so you can watch HGTV no matter where you are. And trust me, HGTV is always playing here. I have been coming for years and HGTV is ALWAYS on! The only thing I think Sexy Nails & Spa could benefit from is updating their space to some hipper decor. I have no idea why they act like that but I've been going to this salon to get my nails done a few times because it's close to my place and I can book a reservation every time I call. I guess I had to take this as a sign, nobody wants to go there. They did a decent job 4 times out of 20ish I went there. When you walk in, they don't even say hi or look at you, they let you standing there pretty much ignoring you for a while. They change the prices randomly, I always get the same thing and they charge me a different amount every time. I tip 20% every time but I'm done. This is not fair for people paying for a service they supposed to provide. They don't care about what you want, they always try to rush you like they're trying to get rid of you. They started to pain my nails without even cleaning the cuticles. And when I ask her if she was going to clean my cuticles, she acted surprised like "oh do you want me to??" I mean, yeah, of course. This is the whole point of getting my nails done. She was mad because I ask for a service I'm paying for. And then charge me extra at the end for that. They put little nails polish like seriously barely nail polish or they put a ridiculous thick coat of nail polish, nothing in between. they don't shape they nails evenly...I get it if this things happens some times but this is not the case, it happens too often. The owner Uni did my nails, I showed her exactly what I wanted which was a cute simple French tip. She couldn't even do that then had the audacity to get mad because I didn't like them. Im playing you $65+ I expect exactly what I want. I've been going to them for years but only Jessica she's a sweet heart, Uni aka the owner is very rude! She will yank your hand if you tell her you don't like the work. Very very rude! I'll never be back! Zero stars if I could. I went for an acrylic fill paid premium and tipped premium although the technician did not want to be there. She (Lisa) had the filer so high it stung twice but she did not care. Their products are cheap and they don't care about the customers. To say the least, My one thumb acrylic chipped. I called they said to go in to get it fixed. I went back two days later. Jessica claiming to be a manger tried to patch it up using a gel polish despite me telling her over and over that the acrylic is what chipped ...to say the least this is the next day and the cheap polish has chipped. Another manager, Uni picked up to tell me tough luck after 24 hours that's considered wear and tear and they only fix polish chips. When I asked for the owner she said his name is Andy and he is in California. Well Andy your business is running to the ground here in Chicago. Close shop and call it quits. I always spoke so highly of this place, referring my neighbors and clients( I work in the Beauty industry for Chanel cosmetics). Monkey pox waiting to happen here. Extremely unsanitary practices when it comes to the Dip application. They do not ask or even require customers to wash their hands or spray with alcohol to sanitize before dipping everyone's nails and the same containers. everyone uses the same base and everyone uses the same activator. everyone's fingers gets dipped in the same containers for a base, activator and colors. I couldn't believe that they don't at least require Basic Sanitizing. anything could be on people's hands and under people's nails. There were so many customers there. When I mentioned this to the nail tech she said it would be best to "bring your own dip get powders" if concerned about Contamination. I found it wild that they require people to pay upfront before for the service starts but don't require people to quiet people to wash or sanitize their hands before using products that can easily be contaminated, Potentially harming many people. read more

First time at this place based on other reviews in a Facebook. I did a walk in and asked if they had time for a gel manicure. The host said yes and we got right to it. As I am sitting in the chair nothing is wrong with the process all felt good. Then I looked at the clocked and looked at where we were at in the manicure and realized this was the fastest my nails have ever been done. Once the paint job was over, the color was in the cuticle, not even on my nails, had air bubbles. As this point I had a gut feeling my nails were not going to last 3 weeks. After 4 days multiple nails have chipped. I am very unpleased with this outcome and will probably not go back due to the lack of detail with each nail and that the gel did not last. read more

My no chip had chipped & peeled on several nails within 3 hours. When I went back to have them fixed, the owner threw a complete temper tantrum. He said he would fix them (as he should), but blamed me for the peeling, even though this shouldn't happen within hours of a "no-chip". He yelled throughout the salon, loudly saying things like 'don't mess with my business' and "you either love me or you f*cking hate me". It was obsurd and unprofessional. Jessica has done my nails on several occasions, but for the last few times, I haven't had a welcoming feel from her, ( giving her another try before switching to someone else). So about 6 months ago I started coming back here to see if things had changed because they are closer to my house. The first couple visits were ok... but I noticed their rudeness was starting to show more & more. I always tip a minimum of $8 when I come, and I always get a fill in and a pedicure. I started making appointments with Uni (I believe she's the owner). But my appointments were never taken seriously because I'd wind up waiting over and over every time, very frustrating. Today I needed a nail repaired and went in. I grabbed the polish I thought was correct. The girl did the repair and didn't even tell me it wasn't the same color. Once she was done and I noticed it was incorrect I mentioned it and she got all upset. I asked her how much the repair was and she said $5. I told her I always pay $4 why is it $5 today, plus you painted it the wrong the color? She got mad and said you don't have to pay at all if you don't want to and don't come back wow ... I was appalled so I left her the $4 that I've always paid for repairs and walked out advising her I would NOT EVER be back and that I was leaving a review on Yelp so that others are warned of their rudeness. I would not advise anyone to come here and spend your hard earned money with people that treat their customers this way. They don't even look at you when they're talking to you. That should've been a red flag for me from the start but I gave them a "culture-pass" never again tho. I recommend going to Bliss nails in Bridgeport and will be taking the drive myself from now on. They don't sanitize well and I think it's because they're trying to cut cost. They re use tools without sanitation. They don't put any type of plastic wrap in the bowl when your getting a pedicure and after your done they barley rinse out the bowl let alone scrub. Theres so many other examples I could give but what really made me stop coming here and I really suggest you don't is the attitude you get from all of them. They're ALWAYS rude as soon as you walk in and if you question them about anything their doing they give you a hard time or ignore you. From the moment I walked in right when they opened, I was being rushed. I'd understand if it was busy but there was only 3 customers and 4 nail techs. The woman that did my nails had an attitude and even rolled her eyes at me because I asked for a darker shade of nude. I settled on the color she initially gave me which seemed to make her even more mad. I pay extra for no chip so that my nails are 100% dry and they won't mess up right away but she would only leave my hand under the curing light for less than 10 seconds and ordered me to switch them out. The result was streaky, bumpy nails with lint caught in them in a color I didn't even want. Rude, rushed and never coming here again. It always dreading to write a bad review because you never want to be "that" customer. However, due to my horrific experience, the unprofessionalism, and poor customer service I received, it prompted me to leave such a bad review. If I could give Sexy Nails & Spa a negative star I would. Unfortunately, this is a RACIST establishment. I truly hope this alone would stop customers from spending their hard earn money here. Over the course of my time there, I witnessed three customers (of a different ethnic group) approach the manager with feedback or to express their concerns about services or the employees not being friendly enough. Each time the manager brushed it off and didn't provide any resolutions - other than she would switch out nail techs (in fact one person switched their nail tech twice). Unbelievable. After having a hard work week, the last thing any customer wants while catching up on a little self-care is to be among a hostile environment. I am still shaken up by how rude and nasty the manager's behavior towards me was. All because I didn't care for the shape of my nails. However, I was respectful in my approach even understanding as I asked her to fix them. For the manager to take such an aggressive approach, immediately stop service, then not find a way to fix the situation (an easy fix) as she did with the previous customers, it was highly unfair to me. At that point, it was not only unprofessional but it became a race issue . I was beyond disgusted by what I was witnessing. I would never enter this place of "business" again. I will go somewhere where my time is valued and I'm treated with some simple decency as a human-being. Please save yourself the therapy sessions you will need after having service(s) here. Haha! Just kidding - adding a bit of humor to lighten up what at the time for me was NOWHERE near a laughing matter. It was and still is a disturbing and unfortunate incident. Don't come 2 hours before closing because they will give you such an attitude. I came for a no chip manicure and pedicure like I normally get I was charged $10 extra for the no chip manicure because of some special hologram polish which turned out basically just to be a powder glitter that they dip your finger in and brush oil over on your nail. It didn't look holographic or similar to the sample I choose at all. The SAME day a few hours later I noticed lines on the tips of my nails like it was already peeling . Not happy at all. I didn't have time to go back to that salon because it's downtown on Adams so I went to this salon. I explained to them that my last no-chip lasted brilliantly for 3 weeks and that I wanted this one to last a long time as well. The girl who did my nails was very nice but I got my nails done on a Tuesday evening. By Thursday they had chipped. I went back to the store today and the manager blamed me. She refused to do anything about it saying it's my fault because I was hard on my nails. I'm a surgical nurse, I wear gloves all day. Was looking for a place that I could go to on a Sunday to get my nails done before flying out on Monday for vacation. Found this place on Yelp and decided to give them a try. Great service and a very professionally run place. Decor is nice and very clean and I love that all the technicians wear a uniform coat and name tags. Free WiFi is great as I can catch up on my TV shows online, but they do have TVs with interesting food shows on. I like that they have real hand towels for drying your hands and that they have a ample supply of clean brushes for you to use. Unlike some nail shops were you use the same brush over and over, they have a container of clean ones and you place them in a different one when done. Love that they also have a parking lot. This will definitely be my new place, even though there are closer shops within walking distance. Worth the 10 min drive. read more

A few days ago, my eyebrows were so out of control that if it had of been a full moon outside, I probably would've started howling at it. Since I'm relatively new to the area, I didn't have a set location of where I could go to save me from my ware wolf-ness. I usually go here for my acrylics. I always book with Teresa, but I have also seen Jessica and Uni in the past!. And would recommend all of them!. I always have an amazing experience, and staff are very polite. They always manage to get me in last minute, and have done nail fixes for me for next to nothing!. I rarely have problems with my nails lifting, and even though I get my acrylics done with regular nail polish they rarely chip. (It does wear off on the tips) and I almost never have any problems with my nails lifting even though I am very hard in my hands. They are fairly affordable so I feel like you definitely get what you pay for.. the salons very close to my job so I always book before work and they get me taken care of quickly!. My only reason for not giving 5 stars is i feel like allot of the time my nails don't match 100%. And are all different shapes and sometimes different lengths!. Once when I got them done here they were VERY bulky at the top, and I had to go somewhere closer to home to fix the shape!. (I live a hour away) Will definitely still be frequenting here!. read more
