My AC went down in the thick of the heatwave in MD. I called was able to get same day service after calling several other companies throughout the week and they kept postponing service to another day after another day. I got lucky by a random referral from my vet and found SF Jones. My technicians were Matt and Isiah who were fantastic! It was over 90 degrees in my house at the time and they had already been working in far more heat than that. They were beyond friendly and professional AND were able to get my unit back up and running. My house went from 93 degrees to a very comfortable 70 degrees within 24hrs. I had S.F. Jones out to complete an install during the winter and the company arrived on time, completed very clean work, and were such nice people to work with. They made the entire process so easy from scheduling the proposal within a timely manner to scheduling my installation date not even a week later. Incompetent and very overpriced They originally came out to troubleshoot a heater. After they fixed the unit, they said they could install my two new 3rd Gen Nest thermostats. They charged $200 for install. (I had already done the wiring and programmed the units. I honestly wanted them to more than anything verify I did it all correct.) He couldn't get the unit to switch from heat to cool. He said it was a bad Nest unit. I called Nest and they were nice enough to send a replacement. (Warning: I got lucky. Nest will only replace units if you call and trouble shoot with them BEFORE you call a technician.) They sent the new unit out and the company came out again. Guess what, same problem. Now the technician wants to just manually switch the units from heat to cool. So in the end, I have spent over $400 on this technician to not fix a problem and then when I call to have them manually switch it to "cool" again, he won't return calls. Avoid this company. The only thing they're able to do is charge you money. read more

Bottom line: SF Jones had no issue installing a, to date, horribly unreliable system in our house, but does not seem interested in or concerned about repairing the faulty hardware/installation once installed. SF Jones installed a new Ameristar HVAC system for the company that flipped the house we purchased last May. In January, one of the two installed systems stopped working. Two SF Jones techs came out, and identified a blown fuse that they did not keep in stock. (Side note: neither tech was wearing any kind of clothing that identified them as SF Jones employees. That's a small detail, but in my opinion is a reflection of my perceived lack of professionalism). So, the tech used a fuse that was too small, and bridged the gap to the connectors with aluminum foil, claiming the fuse would blow before a fire started in the unit. I called SF Jones to inquire about the warranty. Scott assured me that the fuse was covered under the warranty, but that his techs also changed a bad wire running to the thermostat, and since SF Jones only installed the two air handlers, two heat pumps, but not the thermostats, the wire replacement was not covered under warranty. About that wire replacement...I did not look over the shoulder of the techs, but considering the way the thermostat wires are so tightly bundled running up to the air handler and how minimally invasive running the new wire was, I struggle to believe that a new wire was actually run through that bundle of wires and to the air handler. But, I cannot prove either position, so I will stop short of making any allegations. I talked to Scott about replacing the fuse with the right fuse; he seemed put out by my persistence, but they did come back out and replace it. I still had to pay for the labor, despite the hardware being faulty. Last week, we turned our systems to cool for the first time. The same system that broke in January does not work. I called SF Jones at 8:21 am last Friday and Scott said that someone would be at my house between 3 and 5:00 pm. Nobody showed and nobody called. At 5:00 pm, I called back. Scott informed me that they just couldn't get to us that day. He further went on to tell me that our house was really far from his business and he could recommend someone closer. Totally unsatisfactory. I highly recommend you spend a little extra to get a reputable system provider (e.g. American Standard, etc., not Ameristar), and have it installed by a certified dealer that provides a warranty that covers both the hardware and the installation. read more

Jones heating came out in the arctic cold for an emergency call today and was on the job within 1 hour of my call for help. They are absolutely hands down the finest customer service provider you can have on your side for all HVAC home and business needs. Scott Jones and his team have taken care of some rather complicated oil heating needs at my home on a german Balderus unit, also performed a new indirect hot water heater replacement at home, made short work of an ac unit repair at my daughters apartment, and provide all the heating service needs at my moms home as well. On every encounter each and every time he and his team have exceeded all expectations. As a small business owner myself I know better than many just how hard it can be to please a difficult client, and my own expectations for good care is extremely high because that is the same level of care I demand for my own customers.
