Cute seating setup and quaint decor. My flight was delayed and then cancelled in San Fran, I had time to burn and decided to walk a few gates away from my flights gate. SF Uncork'd had the best ratings on Yelp and Google so of course that's where I was headed. The waitress was nice and attended to me quickly. I ordered the Smoked Salmon Salad and a glass of Lake Sonoma Winery Cab 2021. Served with delicious warm toasty bread, the salad was fresh and full of romaine, spinach, arugula, two caperberries, and some halved cherry tomatoes. The balsamic was good and not sweet, which I appreciated. There was minimal smoked salmon but it was good. Not sure if it was farmed our wild caught. I was in the airport and it was slim pickings so I didn't ask the waitress. My favorite was the Lake Sonoma Cab. I'll need to find that and buy some. The location in the international terminal is my favorite (G gates) tends to be less crowded than Terminal 3. It's the same menu as far as I can tell. My tomato soup was fantastic and came with a melted cheese-in-pita half not listed on the menu that felt really filling. I've been here a few times and have always had an excellent experience. The staff is very friendly and attentive. It's a small place but open with comfortable seating options at a few long tables or bar. They have some nice taps and have Pliny the Elder available. We came in to kill some time before our flight to LA. Good selections of wine and beer flights. Plenty of comfy seatings inside and it wasn't as hot as other indoor places. It was relaxing to enjoy some wines but I can't say the same for services. Some waitresses here were bit rude! They kept asking us, in fact every customer there to close one tab and start another. Complete Aholes. Hubby and I were on our way to Mexico for our vacation with a group of other people. We were meeting up our group at this restaurant and interestingly enough, the server says it was a fire hazard for my husband to join the group. Interestingly, enough, they already added one extra chair to the combined tables. They already exceeded the limit. What's even more interesting is that a good number of the tables were not occupied. it's obvious this place is very snobbish. They are definitely not getting my business anytime soon or ever. We travel quite a bit for work and for better or worse, we're United loyalists so we're always in Terminal 3 when we fly domestically. If you're looking for a glass (or bottle) of wine, Uncork'd is a decent option. They have quite a few BTG options and prices are reasonable - $15-25+/glass depending on the option. When we've got the time, we like to relax a bit and enjoy a bottle of wine. They have a vast selection of wines by the bottle and my understanding is that for bottles under $100, there's a modest corkage fee of $15 (this could be outdated, but expect to pay a fee for them to open the bottle). For bottles at or over $100, the corkage is waived. After browsing the selection and being familiar with some of the distributors they use, I can confidently say that on average, their pricing is roughly 2x wholesale. If they buy it for $50, they're selling it for $100. Note, that same $50 bottle would retail for ~$65, so relative to retail pricing, you'll be paying roughly a 55-60% premium. The markup is reasonable because at a restaurant, you'd also pay 2-3x wholesale. While their bottle selection includes some champagnes, in general, the still wines are mostly domestic and mostly from California, so if you're looking for a nice German Riesling from the Mosel, you'll likely be out of luck. For the wine selection and pricing, Uncork'd is easily 4-4.5*. Since we've been to Uncork'd several times this year, I can say the service is inconsistent. Sometimes, it's great - friendly service, water refilled, checked in on often enough, even when it's a packed house. Other times, the employees will just stay behind the bar and chat with bar patrons. I've even had to bring my credit card to the bar to settle or check because nobody ever came around. The employees have rarely been super knowledgeable about wine or even the wines they carry, which I suppose is to be expected. For example, I asked one time if they had any red Burgundy and just got a blank stare. I tried another way and asked if they had any pinot noir from France and the server then proceeded to lead me to a bottle of domestic rose. It wasn't even rose of pinot noir. Lastly, and the primary reason for not giving Uncork'd 4* - the food. It's terrible. We have tried a number of the items on their menu over a couple prior visits and decided that was enough of a sampling that we wouldn't ever eat there again. We've tried the Cuban sandwich - dry pork, low quality ham, bad bread, all heated up with a microwave as opposed to a sandwich press. Absolutely one of the worst cuban sandos we've ever had. The cheese plate was okay, but the accoutrements (like the sliced baguette) weren't super fresh. The hummus was gritty and tasted like it was scooped out of a large commercial tub. The pita was hard - if you've ever microwaved a pita to warm it up, but didn't wrap it in a wet paper towel, you know exactly the texture that results. In summary, the play here is to eat elsewhere, then enjoy a glass (or two or three) at Uncork'd afterwards. read more

Arrived early to SFO before a flight to Hawaii and had 45 mins to an hour to spare before boarding. After extensive Yelp-ing of the spots within the terminal, Amy T. and I opted for SF Uncork'd for their wine and food options to kick off our much-needed vacation. We didn't want to eat too much so we got two sliders (BLT & Huli Huli Chicken) and cracked pepper chips. Note that a slider doesn't necessarily mean it has a beef patty in there as well like I originally thought...lol. But they were both good - the huli huli chicken slider had a creamy sauce, and the BLT was pretty standard, but the brioche buns were perfect. For wines, I got a Martin Ray Cab (they only had a couple decently priced Cab selections), which was quite strong, but I liked it. What happened to the ambiance, the magic, the fancy charcuterie board with lots of white space and tiny portions of exotic meats and cheeses to make me feel "extra"? It really cheapens the experience. I mean, sure, it's an airport lounge, I get it, I should just deal...but dammit, DO BETTER. Now for the entertaining part. On my first visit a few weeks back, typical airport lounge scene with single travelers politely spaced apart staring at their phones. Except for that one guy, he's really REALLY into that women's personal space and she doesn't seem to be reciprocating. Turns out "that guy" also had three bad credit cards, a phony birth certificate, and no ID with an international flight he was going to be late for and couldn't pay his tab. He was also three sheets to the wind and barely able to stay upright. And REALLY LOUD. The bar keep kept her cool and eventually called security after the guy wandered off and left his luggage (um hello, did you not listen to the ever-present announcements not to leave your luggage unattended!! SECURITY!! DRUNK MIGHT-BE-A-TERRORIST AT THE LOUNGE!!). Fast forward a couple of weeks to tonight's visit while waiting on the only flight out of SFO at ungodly hours and I politely ask to sit at a six-top occupied by a single traveler. Delighted to have human company not stuck on a device they graciously share their space. We commiserate about the state of humanity, discuss agreement reality and talk about human things and connect as people. We're both in our 40-50's and attached to other humans and somehow find a way to carry on a conversation that doesn't involve sex or politics and genuinely enjoy the company of strangers for a magical hour. After wandering around the San Francisco Airport for a few hours, trying to decide on a place to "park it," relax, and grab something to eat, SF Uncork'd peaked my interest. I wasn't in the mood for fast food and didn't feel like sitting in a "food court," so this place seemed like a good option. It was pretty busy. They have a small bar and then some table seating. They also have a pretty large wine list. Their menu reminded me of a tapas restaurant. Small/light bites and tons of wines to choose from. After looking at the menu, I opted to get the Tuscan Tomato Bisque and a "fancy water" (i.e. what Nugget calls Peligrino). The server was cherry and efficient. I did some work while I waited for my meal. My soup came out and I was pleasantly surprised. The soup was rich and creamy. The grilled cheddar cheese in a multigrain pita was a surprise. I didn't read the menu, and thought it was just going to be a plain pita. When I dunked this in my soup it was OK. I prefer an actual grilled cheese on bread (the bread soaks up more of the soup). While searching for some brief sustenance at SFO, we found Uncork'd. The kitchen was already closed but we staked out a spot at the bar to grab a glass of wine. The wine list is extensive, as expected from a wine bar. Prices per glass tended to range on average between $12-15 - which is also how my wine was. I ordered the a glass of the '09 Bonaccorsi Pinot Noir. As promised, it was fruity but also dry and surprisingly easy to drink. 8 don't know if I was just wine thirsty, but I really enjoyed it. The description shows it having "red fruits and candied rose with a strong lengthy finish." I also appreciated (as I'm looking it up now) that this wine isn't some cheap up-charged wine I could have picked up for 1/4 of the price at my local grocery store - it's award winning and hard to obtain. According to Wine Searcher's search engine, "We can only find a few stores in America that have this wine." Fancy, huh? They brought my wine right away but it took a while to get the hummus. I don't like to drink too much before I start eating so I waited and waited, taking tiny sips of my wine, until they finally brought the hummus. They generously fill the wine glasses here, so one glass is really more like 1.5-2 glasses worth. The hummus trio was decent. The pesto flavored hummus was by far the best, with the artichoke coming in second and the red pepper being a bit underwhelming. It comes with just the right amount of warm pita bread. The hummus trio is a good appetizer/snack but it's not enough for a dinner. I was still kind of hungry after finishing that so I tried to catch one of the bartender/waitress' eye to order the mozzarella skewer (aka caprese). They were so overworked and busy that they didn't even take my order, so after about 10 minutes of waiting I had to "ahem" them to get their attention. My flight was taking off in about a half hour so I needed to hurry it up. Finally I ordered the mozzarella skewer and the check. The mozzarella skewer was really good. It came with warm slices of bread and olive oil and balsamic. While I finished eating it, I paid and signed the check. I did not really enjoy my time here that much overall because of how long the wait was in between each thing. If you were unable to explore the Jordan or Duckhorn Vineyards, but still want the chance to pick up a bottle at a competitive price (especially for an airport establishment) this is as good as it gets. I enjoyed local beer on draft for only $5 dollars per a pint. Food here is worthwhile, my sandwich was tasty and the salad surpassed the iceberg lettuce standard. But it was only a few dollars more than a pint. And it was just the right amount to take the few minutes until I could board the plane for home. After being taxed because I over pack so im never caught in under dressed, I was feeling a bit unpleasant. Near my terminal destination was SFO's very own UnCork'd. I sipped on a Mondavi and charched my phone at the pleasure of this cozy wine bar. Not only did they have a formidable wine selection, but they also had a variety of single pour wines for purchase. I was informed by the hostess, that as long as you dont have a connecting flights, you can put it in the bag! They also offer 3 wine flights for 10 bucks. Its a nice selection. The menu is pretty substantial with different glasses of wines, beer, cocktails, flights, even food. It could definitely survive as a wine bar outside of the airport with that selection. My sister and I were laughing that they even have a corkage fee. We were joking that nobody could bring a bottle of wine through security! I think you can buy a bottle of wine from this store (or another store in the airport) and then get it uncorked here to drink. I suggest having a long layover or time before your flight if you plan to do that. There is a bar and also three low to the ground tables that seat about eight each. The chairs remind me of plushy ottoman and were really comfortable, however, if you're actually squeezing in eight people you will be sitting pretty snug against your neighbor. Why the fuck am I in a wine bar called SF Uncork'd? Ahh they serve craft brews too? Ehh now we're talking! For $8 (plus tax) you're allowed to select 4oz pours of any three beers from their menu. Of course I went with all high ABV beers at that price. Scarface, Fist Fight, and Undercover Shutdown. Most taprooms/breweries nickel and dime you based on ABV. Not so here. That's quite commendable for the airport. A full 16oz pour is $10 no matter if it's a Trumer Pils or a high ABV Speakeasy Stout. Well, who in their right mind is gonna pay $10 for a Pilsner when a delicious 9.5% stout is the same price? You best believe I went with that full pour of Scarface! Our waitress/beertender Recelyn C. was super friendly and helpful with the beer menu should you be indecisive. Her service was better than you'll find in most taprooms. This place is nicely decorated and very cozy. You certainly don't feel as if you're in the airport. I wish I could visit this place without a boarding pass.
