It is ashamed that Google turns off the review function for SFPD Mission Station. I can see why because most of my experiences of calling 311 or their non emergency number 415-553-0123 for help is similar to the ONE star lone review from 8 years ago, not helpful. On 6/17/24, I called for help after vandals have damaged the exterior gate to my elderly parents' home for the third time. As usual, the dispatcher told me all of the officers were busy and would come out whenever they have time without timeline. I have heard this so many times and don't have faith anyone will come. After all, this is San Francisco. Crimes are so rampant police officers probably have more urgency calls, numb, or no bandwidth to deal with the crime loads. We got lucky this evening! Officer Singh responded. He was patient, courteous and helped my 86 years old dad to file a police report with his broken English first time ever in his life. Officer Singh educated my dad not to fear calling 911 due to the language barrier. Calling his daughter an hour away is not helpful in emergency situation this. He assured my dad there will be translator there to assist if he calls. After reviewing from the camera footage, I could see officer Singh leaned forward and treated my poorly dressed dad with kindness and respect. It is his demeanor, my dad open up to tell him his multiple previous vandalism experiences. It's with his assurance, my parents can have a bit more peace at night when they go to bed. Shout out to officer Singh at the SF Mission Police Station!! May God continues to bless good police officers like him and keeping them safe from harm. We are extremely grateful for your service and help. read more

Here's a huge "Thank You" to the SF Police 911 Dispatch team and the Mission Station team who helped me locate a family member yesterday. They tag-teamed while on the phone with me to try all the options available, and eventually found him. Also, two members of a community help organization (can't remember the exact group name) kindly offered suggestions. This has been my local station for 30+ years and I've been in maybe 10 times total, and called them another half dozed times. Usually I go in because I need to file or get copies of paperwork, or maybe have a fix it ticket signed off. They don't really seem set up to help you in person anymore. There doesn't seem to be a way to park nearby if you need a fix it ticket signed off (all the former parking is now tow away zones and there is no visitor parking in the lot.) I guess that is a reflection of the times. It seems they are now expecting you to do everything online. I would actually have gone for the online option except I couldn't really wait a week or more for the copy of the report I needed. Discussion with the person who answered the phone was a little tough but I did eventually get the info I needed...and had to drive over to Mission Bay to get the paperwork I needed. Too bad they have streamlined/compartmentalized or whatever and are no longer able to hit the print button at the Mission station. I'm sure someone views this as progress. My experience with the Officer's at this Station has been super excellent. I've called them several times in quasi emergency situations and they were there for me in record breaking time. And they were exceptionally kind and caring, helped me above and beyond what their professional duty called for. I'm an old lady who needed a bit of help and they went out of their way to help me. Unfortunately, I've gotten my car broken into while I'm SF today. I parked in front of the SF Jazz building, and there is a camera outside that building. Called this department, and the women who "took" my report probably didn't even file a report. I was asked if my ID was stolen. If it wasn't they can't send out an officer. I would just have to file a complaint. Ok, "Karen", everyone knows not to touch the car and tamper with the scene/car if there's finger prints. No, I don't know broke into my car. There is a camera outside the building I had explained to her. Then she asked if I owned the camera... I'm sorry, but... who are we hiring/employing with our tax dollars? Then I was told she didn't know when or if an officer will get out there. This is the kind of stuff that makes me whisper, "WTF!" To myself at least 20x a day. read more

These guys suck hella a**. I called them maybe 5 times since I've lived here the past 20 plus years. Once with a literal emergency, nobody shows. I called yesterday three whole a** times and NOTHING. At the last call they said they sent someone but nobody got the door.... Not one person? In the entire apartment building opened the door? No doorbell nothing? I and 4 other people were involved in a DUI collision. The driver of the other car was clearly intoxicated (alcohol or other.) The passenger side airbag deployed in my face and also caused my head to slam against the head of the person driving our car. Both cars are totaled. I had to crawl out the drivers side bc of the impact. Both the police and fire department responded and told me that if I didn't get in an ambulance that they only thing they could do was check my blood pressure and do a pupil check. So I requested they do that just to be safe. The FD left without even saying anything and administered no test at all. The responding police officers wouldn't even take the names of any of the parties involved in the collision. Even when we specifically requested documentation, no incident report was made. For no responding authority to even bother to get my name or check my vitals is shocking and beyond appalling. This is not ok. This is not acceptable. I mean zero Fs were given to the wellbeing of any us involved in the accident. read more

I have lived in the mission for years, I have had issues with garage break ins, a shooting, a dog attack, you name it. The officers never show up, the non-emergency line is never answered, the people at the physical station do not help. It's insane. The only helpful group in sf are the fire fighters. The station people will literally turn you away it's bewildering. read more

I want to say F the police. Especially this department. They gave me a ticket for jay walking! On mission street. While I was getting food to feed my family. You cops got nothing better to do beside write these tickets? You can't arrest the junkies that are in front of my house? When you die in the line of duty, don't expect sympathy from the public. So I had the unfortunate luck of getting my car broken into. I'm told I've been served the complete "SF experience" and having your car broken into is inevitable. Oh well. I didn't fret too much and had my car window replaced the next day in SF before I drove back to Los Angeles. What I didnt expect for SFPD to catch the folks who broke into my car AND call me the next day to confirm and retrieve some of the items they recovered. The officer in charge of my case was very nice and accommodating with my pickup the following weekend. When they traced the car back to my parents home back in Southern California, they had officers in my hometown visit their house to alert my parents of what happened. CRAZY. Anyway, while it was a shitty thing that happened, I couldn't be more pleased with all my interactions with this police department. Next time I'll know not to put ANYTHING in view in my car. Not even a ball of yarn, because the people stole that out of my car too. PARKING: street metered. read more

Dropped my wallet on the street and SFPD somehow found it with all cash and cards in tact. They were able to go through the wallet and use an old employee badge to contact my former employer who then got in touch with me. Amazing work. read more

I went in on a friday evening to write a report and was asked to wait 45minutes. I had to insist on getting the paperwork so I could at least start writing the details on the report while I waited. Once I had finished everything and handed in my detailed information about the report, the officer told me through the glass that nothing else was needed, and gave me a receipt proving a report was filed. Overall, I felt like I was being treated with apathy, and I know they must get all kinds of people coming in throughout the day with complaints or requests, but I had a legitimate report, and don't understand why they made me wait to speak with an officer, only to send me away with a receipt, and without any officer taking an oral statement! read more

So got hit and run. Gotta report to the cops. Found myself a parking spot and wants in. There's an elevator in the middle of the room. I sit down and wait patiently for the previous person to finish. Now its my turn. The officer greets me and I tell her the reason I'm there. To report a hit and run. She takes out the forms and I give her my information of the car and the car that crashed me. Takes about 15-20 minutes and we're done. Now to wait for the insurance. My experience here was good. read more

All I can say about these morons at the mission is they stink as far as community relations go and their customer service is none( horrible people they hired people who need to take their jobs and pay more seriously and do what they are paid to do help out people in need of help who are in distress! shame on them as I walked into their station after being blown off by their department on phone( I had a horrible experience with losing my car and being lost after dark in their lousy unsafe neighborhood and went to them for help and dumb lady told me all they could do was file a stolen vehicle report! I told her several times it wasn't stolen as I couldn't find my car as I was not familiar with Area I parked it in( So basically they did zero about it and I had my license plate and car description and approximate area I parked it in and did absolutely nothing at night to help me! in fact they wasted my time for a whole hour and a half as they were supposedly working on it! yeah bs so it got later and later and darker out at night on a Sunday and I had panicked because I couldn't remember where I parked so I called first to get help from SFPD! I waited an hour at a local restaurant and called back twice seeking assistance and nobody showed up and then I walked into my nightmare, a silly lady wearing a police uniform and addressed by her coworkers as sergeant lmao yeah right and I am Easter bunny( This lady had no clue how to deal with my situation and she had found out my license plate, I gave her description of my car vehicle make and model, and approximate area where I Thought I had parked! so after hour to hour and a half of her telling me we are working on it she comes up with well all we can do is file a stolen vehicle report( What you lazy son of a gun! so I left their station in the dark walking alone at night in a strange unsafe neighborhood to attempt to find my car myself( By the way I ate approximately 530pm it was light outside! after approximately searching for my vehicle after hour I went to taqueria and phoned police non emergency seeking their help! they said they would send officer to wait at location I was! Zso I waited for over an hour hoping police would show up Before it got dark! Didn't happen and they didn't show up at all so I called them back again and was told to walk police station about five blocks away! so I did that and boy was that a huge mistake as this lady did nothing about my distressful situation in an hour and a half and made mexwaste my time for in the end saying I can only file a stolen vehicle report and I told her it wasn't stolen!So she did nothing and I left and chilled out trying to remember where I parked the car! I walked for another forty five plus minutes in the dark and luckily the car showed up on Church street as I had remembered! so this morning I call up their department to talk to the supervisor to inform him of the employees poor handling of my case( so he basically tells me on the phone, what exactly do you want me to do about it now? no apologizes no nothing! So I basically told him what he asked because he asked me himself what he should have done and I told him the truth! Dug dodo bird you have the license plates numbers and you have car description duh and approximate area where I said I thought I parked it what should you have done ugh dopey you were either supposed of have gone and looked for car in your police vehicle as it was dark out now or you should have driven me around to find vehicle as it was where I had thought I had parked it! I should have said to him officer dopey duh you could grow a brain and a heart and treat community members and tourists with the same dignity and respect you think you deserve!Someone comes to you looking for help you are police do your friggin job! luckily I got home after successfully finding my car myself in the dark in a strange neighborhood! For anybody even thinking of going to this location run and do not come here they can't seem to deal with real human beings and non emergency situations! no luck, no brains, no heart, no customer service but they expect you to show them respect? your kidding me right? w all the BLM news and George Floyd's issues in tv I can now see why these officers feel they are entitled to abuse their power positions to do nothing to help out private citizens! Anyone who has to deal with my "boss" deserves 5 stars. Most recently that has been the poor officers stationed at the Mission St station. Vimala, the owner of El Rincon Night Club, is truly one of the sweetest, most adorable old ladies you will ever meet. Absolute heart of gold, but as our culture is not her own, occasionally things get lost in translation. We needed to drop off a permit to SFPD (A fire marshal was nice enough to increase our occupancy by a little over 100 people and apparently the police like to know these things) so I drove her over to the station and in we went. I should of known it was a bad sign when they knew her by sight, but since they smiled and said Hello I knew it at least wasn't too bad a reason. Of course the permit officer wasn't there, something that took about 20 minutes to determine because Vilmala had not brought the name of the officer with us. Also she kept stating the officer was a him (turns out the only permit officer is a woman). So after a 1/3 of an hour we leave a name and number. During the time we were waiting Vimala began digging through her purse trying to find something. "What do you need?" I asked. "I need to find the paper I wrote my complaint on." she tells me. Oh no what complaint I wonder. I make her explain to me her intention. So the police department has a place where you can file a complaint. Typically reserved for complaints about officers (uh oh). I believe Vimala holds the record for most complaints filed in a day, in a week, in a month, year, life time.. She holds every record. Why? Not because anyone has been rude to her, just because she wasn't thrilled with the response she sometimes got, the age of the officer, whatever she apparently thought she was supposed to document any grievance no matter how small. Often about things that in no way involved the police. A cultural confusion, she actually really likes the officers at that station and wants off duty officers to work at her club. So I wanted to give these officers a 5 star review for all the help they have given her. And the friendly attitude with which they greeted her, the time they took to help, and to explain. I was really impressed by the absolute lack of irritation and condescension. Thanks guys! read more

I was assaulted on a MUNI bus today and wasn't expecting SFPD to take me seriously but I went in anyway in hopes of filing a report. They were professional about it and took down notes of what happened to me, took photos of injuries and gave me a police report afterwards. The 2 officers helped me beyond my expectations. Sure SFPD seems like they don't care at times but at least today they were helpful to me. read more

I was in the Mission District today having lunch with friends and when we were driving out, we all witnessed another car hit a parked car and leave. We all quickly were able to gather both license numbers and description of the cars and I said I would make the phone call when I got home since I didn't have SFPD's phone number on me. When I called from home in San Jose at 3:30pm to report the Hit and Run, the police officer says "You are calling NOW about it?". Listen Buddy....be glad I even went out of my way to help a poor soul who has to deal with this mess now. I told the officer I had been driving and I was only calling because I felt it was the right thing to do. This guy wants to lecture me and I want to help? Whatever! read more

All my life I referred to police as cops. For various reasons of my own, the men in blue looked more like America's Most Wanted than America's Finest. Mostly when I saw police I looked or turned the other way. That is until I got mugged in my own neighborhood. I was blown away by how the police --who came immediately when I called--seemed to take my mugging personally. They had been tracking this serial purse snatcher in the neighborhood and were openly committed to catching him: come hell or high water. I'll spare the details here, but within one hour the guy was behind bars. The police and detectives supplied evidence that was overwhelming against the guy. His sentencing was swift. To top it all off, the Mission Station police Sergeant is a dynamite petite woman, just like me! I got a huge glow inside thinking how little sister commands this force of competent heroes. Now, every time I see a police-person, I look them right in the eye and smile. Thanks, fellas, for taking my case seriously, solving the crime, and treating me with respect. read more

Why do San Francisco Police Department stations feel so unsafe? I know, I know: Some people always feel unsafe around police no matter where they happen to be--and often for good reason--but it just seems logical to me that you should feel physically safe in a police station with all these cops around, but here (and at Park Station), it feels like you're at one of those fast-food places with thick Plexiglas between you and the person taking your order; all of a sudden, you feel much more threatened and vulnerable than you did when you walked in. The officer who took my report was friendly, efficient, and understanding. There were two people in front of me, and he was patient with both of them, especially the lady who seemed to think that the police should put out an APB about her missing and presumably stolen FasTrak. It's close to the 16th Street Mission BART Station, which is why I came here instead of Park Station like I did last time. read more

Helpful cops work at the Mission station. Shitty cops are around, but I haven't met any in San Francisco yet. I wish they were 3 minutes faster and the scum bag who randomly attacked me would have been caught. They were nice about processing the report fast and taking care of the ambulance stuff. I could have done without the comment about weak prosecutors being too lenient- not everybody supports the death penalty guys. The other guy (Santiago #1498) helped out fine. My house was burglarized. I presented electronic evidence of the burglary that could have easily been used to request from the manufacturer the electronic device's location which was a that time being used for credit card fraud. I even filled out the form needed from the device manufacturer and wrote down the name, phone and email of the person who said all they need is the completed from from the SFPD and they will immediately release the IP address location. I called for the detectives over 10 times, and let messages each time. I went to the station 3 times and pleaded to be assisted. I was never able to actually speak to a detective. I understand detective's time is limited but it's simply unacceptable to not even return my phone calls to at least say - I can't help you. Not only are they letting felony's off free but they are doing a disservice to the citizens they have sworn to service and protect. read more

I made a phone call to find out about ways to properly file a police report and the person on the phone line was kinda rude, and very unwilling to understand the reasons I was calling. I find it super interesting the reasons why people rather never call the police, it is more than obvious that they lack the simple understanding of serving the community. read more

Cop refused to sign a correctable citation on some bullshit pretext just after signing the exact same citation for the girl in front of me. He loved seeing the anger on my face when I explained he just signed for the girl without raising any concern. This is the scenario: It's 2:05 am, you need to pee and you are in the mission. What do you do, what do you do? What you do is pull yourself together, straighten out your clothes, walk into the police station and ask to use the restroom, being careful to not slur. Sometimes they ask for ID sometimes they don't but they will buzz you through a door where you can use a well lit clean public toilet. Why? There are many things in the world I don't understand, and this is one of them. I would HIGHLY recommend not leaving a mess and not committing any sort of vandalism not only because it's bad idea to mess with cops where they live, but also because what the world (and the mission) needs is a little less piss on the streets and a few more clean bathrooms. I waited for over an hour to file a simple report (might be it wasn't enough interesting for them), but for me to take the time and do it, it was! While waiting a guy stepped-in alarmed to let them know that there was a fight a block away, and the police man behind the window listened, moved his head and did nothing lol. He had a face like "....what do you want me to do about it?". He asked the person behind something, and then kept typing who knows what.... I understand that they don't have to provide customer service or anything, but at least show some interested for the wellbeing of the citizen, just saying! read more

As the only person in line with an inquiry at the Mission Police Station, it still took three policemen 1.5 hours to write a police report. They did not know what they were doing, which made them act defensively. Afterwards, they couldn't tell me where to get a copy of the police report (850 Bryant). They were totally unfriendly and incompetent. ...Maybe a college degree should be a requirement to join the police force. read more

this review is about the physical set up there. you can hear EVERYBODY's business. they make the glass nice & thick so you have to raise your voice so the officer can hear, and the floors are nice & stone-y, so everything you say echos and bounces back everywhere. you know exactly what happened & who is reporting what here. really bad set up. it's like going to a bank, and everyone in line knowing how much money you've put in, taken out & have in your pocket & have in your account because of an overhead speaker. not the smartest thing. but the officers that helped were great. read more

I am dealing with an eviction as a master tenant trying no to evict a drug addict tenant who thinks they know the tenancy laws in SF . Officer Keys has been the only officer to take a serious interest in a valid concern from me, the master tenant, that is to me, a life or death situation regardless of the current "tenancy laws" in SF. The 5 stars is for officer Keys, it would be a 4 fo SFPD as a whole as it relates to my current situation. Officer keys was the only one out of 10 or so officers that I had contact with that was able to understand my situation and willing to offer a viable solution to my current situation. Around midnight last night our building was broken into. It was not discovered until mid day today. At first we thought the damage was nominal but after careful examination of the entire damage we realized that an insurance claim might arise. So we decided to file a report with SFPD. I called the SFPD non emergency dispatch around 4:30pm. I called again at 7:15pm to make sure we were still on the call list, dispatch assured me that we were. It is now 10pm and nothing has happened. I'm giving two stars only because of the efficiency of the two dispatchers I was in contact with. Otherwise I would not assign a single star to those who wear a blue and gold star. read more

Go to any other station if you want to file any kind of report in SF. The desk officer I dealt with was incredibly rude, and from the sound of it, others have had similar experiences. I work for a law office that represents cops, so I have the utmost respect for their line of work, and can even empathize with the ones who may get into trouble. However, in this case, the desk officer's attitude was reprehensible. I was filing a report as a victim of harassment and stalking, but was pretty much berated as though I was the bad guy. It takes a lot for a victim to come forward with this kind of issue in the first place, and to be interrogated and insulted for coming forward with the problem is not the way to assist someone who has already been terrorized by psychotic behavior and is attempting to stand up to it. I couldn't imagine someone who had even more serious issues, i.e., physical violence, repeated harassment being treated so inhumanely. I understand the need to filter through frivolous claims, but when I produced a stack of e-mails and voicemails evidencing the cause for my distress over the past few months, all the desk officer did was chastise me rudely for not coming forward sooner ("What did you think it would just stop?" Duh, I was gathering the evidence!), and started interrogating me as to why I had redacted one name off one e-mail that was completely irrelevant to the issue. I was so shaken up not only by my harassment experience, but now this SF police interaction, that I didn't think to get his name and badge number to file an official complaint. In the end he didn't help me anyhow, said I had to call a different number since it was the type of case that was handled by a different department. I recommend trying another location if you need any police assistance, if possible. read more
