I am a North Providence resident who has a 2015 Mitsubishi mirage. I was looking for a new mechanic and lived close by, so I went on a Friday afternoon. I was very impressed with the shop. It looked clean and organized. I was assisted within a few minutes of arriving. I booked an appointment for a noise coming from somewhere in the engine, an oil change, a clutch adjustment, a new inspection sticker. I was able to get in the following Wednesday- I dropped my car off at 8am. I received a call from the shop saying I needed synthetic oil instead of a blend. No problem. Liked the communication. I received a second call at 3pm to say the car was ready. I went and picked it up at 4:45pm the same day! Apparently, my heat shield was loose- hence the noise. No noise now. Oil change - done. Inspection- done. Clutch adjustment- done. The bill was very reasonable- surprising actually because I thought it would cost more. I am a very happy new customer, and this is where I am going to keep going. Pros- communication, professionalism, quick work, great attitude of the employees. I've been going here my entire life. I grew up with the old owners son. Had an appointment to get my car checked and they told me I couldn't sit there and wait for it! Unbelievable! Told me to go take my car someplace else to where they have waiting rooms and you can sit there all day! Never been disrespected like that from Sgambatos before! It's too bad Bill Sgamboto retired! After going here for the last 46 years, I will not be going here anymore. That's the second time they told me to take my car elsewhere! read more

A family institution 200 yards from Centerdale is a gem amongst local business and for my family, a wonderful service. We have as a family opted to not purchase new vehicles which means there is a requirement which Sgambattos has provided for us and many here, a sound maintenance support to keep our cars running beyond normal length projections. Sgambato's has been around for a long time. Ask any local and they will tell you Billy and Silvia will treat you right. If they say it cost $200 to fix it, it really cost $200 to fix it. No games no haggling, just service done right. Can get really busy, but they will stay after hours to get the car fixed. If you need a basic oil change just stop by they will get to it right away. Good to call ahead if you can. Just park anywhere and leave the keys in the car, it is a huge lot but they are always busy! Not really much of a place to sit and wait. Went in because I'd run over a curb and had something hanging from underneath my car. All looked at, repaired, and done within 20 minutes and at a VERY fair price. Plus, everyone was really nice, and, unlike lots of auto places, didn't treat me like an idiot or try to gauge me because I'm a woman. Great neighborhood feel to the place too. Highly recommended! I came here on the recommendation of a friend and she was right! This place provides good service and at good prices. Don't let the storefront deter you because this shop is always full of cars and by the end of the day most of them are repaired and gone. For example, I called in the morning, Sgambato said "no promises but drop the car off so they can analyze the problem. Surprisingly, they repaired the car and gave us the car back before closing. While other places would ask for an appointment and days of waiting for the return of the car. Most of all, the folks running this place were honest and friendly. Thank you Sgambato's! Since billy and silvio sold part of the business it has become increasingly more expensive and the work is not up to par .These people are ruining the reputation that Billy has took years to build with locals.These new people are increasingly jacking up prices and don't care for the customers. Sgambato's is an old school garage with fantastic mechanics and fair prices. My husband and I have been bringing our cars there since 1991. Billy has kept my '96 Taurus on the road - despite its accumulated problems , they are all 'fixable' when a mechanic KNOWS what the problem is. If you are of the mind, like I am, that a car was meant to be driven into the ground but not nickle and dime you to death as it ages, then you can't do better than Billy, Silvia, and Company. Sgambato's is the last of a dying breed of neighborhood garage, greasy, gas-fumed and COOL; never a rip off like those higher tech but astronomically priced franchises. read more

The day after a snow storm one of my tires was very low in air. I chose this place because it was so close to my home and they filled up all my tires for no charge. They were friendly, attentive, and quick. I do recommend this place and Sgambato's will first stop when having car problems in the future. read more

This is a place where you can trust the service. Have been going here for over thirty years and never had a problem. You make an appointment and drop the car off, it is done that day. Bill stays at the shop until all the cars he takes in are done.....His family started the business and he has carried on the tradition. I feel compelled to write a review about Sgambato's, because let's face it, it's hard to find a good, trustworthy mechanic these days. Sgambato's is that and much more. I overlooked the fact that my inspection was about to be overdue and literally called the day before it was going to expire. I also needed an oil change on top of it. Not only did they get me in and have everything done in an HOUR, the total cost was $84.95 w/synthetic oil. What?!? I actually asked him "Did you change the oil, too?" because I couldn't believe it. Sure enough, they did. This was my second great experience from Sgambato's and I will definitely be back! My highest recommendation to them. read more

HORRIBLE! I spent over 400 bucks there on my car and then it randomly broke down not to long afterwards. I brought it to a different shop since I didnt feel like paying another 400 bucks at Scumbuckets, and the guy working on my car told me that my car broke down because Scumbuckets... I mean...Sgambatos put a BROKEN piece in my car and they KNEW it was broken because the guy showed us the piece they GLUED back together!!! Seriously?! You DONT mess with someones car, it's sooo dangerous! I'm NEVER going back there and I'm telling EVERYONE I know not to also. read more

An old college friend of mine put me on to this place years ago and I have been treated very well for many years now. The work is reliable and the employees want you to come back and most everyone does. Very expensive scheduled maintenance was due on my car and Sgambatos did three major jobs for a great price. I feel no stress and complete trust bringing my car there and I have recommended them many times. The owner is on site, he works as hard as his employees and he wants to satisfy his customers. Places like this are rare but thankfully, you can find them if you ask around. Sgambatos has been operating since the 1940's and it's easy to see why. read more
