You'll need to bring in an ID (ie drivers license) follow any recruitment instructions- ie wash face 30min prior/ no moisturizer for 2 days/etc. Downstairs lobby for check-in. Sometimes, you have to go up a floor for check in. Elevator available, if need be. Ample parking around the facility. Studies will have much paperwork, for opportunity to consent, diary and study product (s) and process. If you're brought in and don't qualify, you're still compensated for your time. This place is ran like chickens with their heads cut off. So many staff members conversing with each other while you're trying to get help. I went on a Friday and was told that my skin type session was already full. They told me to go downstairs and they could reschedule me for another visit that definitely needed people. I did this and went in on a Tuesday waited two hours, not to mention the 30 minutes early. I arrive to my appointment (mind you it's a 45 minute drive for me to get there, including tolls) and they told me again that my skin type was full!! They should only schedule a certain amount of people for a study with certain skin types if they're already in the system. Don't overbook and set the expectation that you're going to be part of a study. And schedule smaller sessions with smaller groups so you can go through them faster. I feel like they're overwhelmed with the amount of people they have booked, so many people just walking around when they could be helping and taking clients for the sessions. This is WORST testing facility I've ever been to. If you're considering it, don't waste your time because that is what you'll be doing!! I would give them zero stars if I could. I would not recommend SGS. The first time I did a study with them, they ran out of product after we went through the entire paperwork process, and sat and waited for an hour, the staff informed us we would not be able to participate. Everyone who took time off work to attend was not able to participate. (1st experience). I thought, let me try them once more. Last Friday, I had applied for a forearm study and wasn't able to attend all the afternoon appointments. The girl at the front desk asked if I still wanted to be seen by the doctor to have my arms looked at to see if I would qualify, and if so, I could return on Monday to start the process over for the morning appointments. I was told by the doctor I qualified, thus, I returned this morning. I went through the whole process again of waiting, filling out paperwork and getting all the way back to THE SAME DOCTOR who informed me on Friday that I qualified who then said, "I apologize, I didn't notice this on Friday, but you don't qualify because your Asian and your skin tone won't work with this study, then, preceded to tell me, but, you still get $30, and you can check out with the girl up front to see if you're eligible for other studies! What a joke! So, your telling me on Friday, she didn't realize I was Asian, made me go through the entire process again, only to tell me that I don't qualify after seeing me for a 2nd time? I DO NOT recommend SGS at all. What's more concerning is they have doctors/graders, who work with individuals testing medical products, and they make such a gross oversight of an error. read more

What a bunch of unorganized morons!! I volunteered for a hair study. I get there, they tell me to wash my hair because I had a little bit of gel. Then tell me they can't take me in because my hair is wet! What kind of idiots don't know hair gets wet when you wash it? read more

DON'T, JUST DON'T!!!! I didn't stay 15 minutes. Study time was late to begin with. They don't have staff present in their two waiting rooms to monitor safe distancing. It is not possible to maintain 6ft away from other participants in the smaller waiting room. People in waiting rooms weren't wearing masks. Children were waiting (unmasked) with parents even though the study provided written notice that children cannot accompany study participants.m in the building. When I reported mask violations in both waiting rooms to the front desk, she was annoyed and went to go ask the participant to wear her mask. A second Front desk person took me to the 2nd waiting room, where the participant inside wasn't wearing a mask. The Front Desk attendant said nothing about it until I brought it to her attention. I told them I will not participate in the study because they're endangering people in the waiting rooms and she laughed. The CDC clearly states to prevent Covid-19 infection, one must avoid enclosed spaces with unmasked people when the collective exposure time is 15 minutes or more. I called the police and filed a report, If you see health violations at this sham of a business, call the police and file a report. read more

I have had two interactions with them, and neither went well. The first time I was contacted by a recruiter for a skincare trial. They asked if I was available the next day, went through all the screening questions, and I was scheduled. I got the confirmation email and it said for the study, I couldn't use moisturizer for three days beforehand. Since I was contacted the day before, that was a problem and I emailed her back and asked if it could be rescheduled. She responded that she cancelled my appointment. Ok. Second time, they contact me for a different study. They would need to take pictures of my face during the study. No problem. The recruiter stated that I would have to sign a photography waiver. I specifically told her, I have no problems with them taking my picture and using it for study purposes, but I would not consent to it being used for commerical or advertising purposes. She said it was fine, and would not affect my participation in the study. So I drive all the way out to Richardson, go through 14 pages of consent, before I get to the photography waiver. I told the man behind the desk, that I couldn't sign it, and was told it would not affect my participation. He called out a manager who said differently. I handed him my clipboard and left. The people I encountered at the location were friendly, but their recruiters will apparently tell you anything to get you in the door. In the end it was a giant waste of time and gas. read more

They seem understaffed, unorganized, and I'm always waiting way past the time my paperwork states at each visit. I'm currently waiting here, still sitting in same chair since 11:20am this morning. If you have hours to waste, then doing studies here will not be a problem. The gals here are very nice but there is no respect for your time. There is no reason to schedule 20 to 30 clients within minutes of each other. They should be more spread out. The goal should be to have you in and out in 60 minutes or less. I am very disappointed with SGS Stephens. Why do you request we come in at 4:00PM when the doctor comes in at 5:00PM? Yes, I understand she is coming from another clinic, but why do we have to take out our time to be in the waiting room for an hour? I respect your time; you will respect my time. Also, they did not have the checks available when we completed the study last Thursday. The receptionist said they would call us when the checks arrive the next day. It is currently Monday evening, and I have not heard anything back. Give me my money or pull my participation out. You will not use it if you are not compensating your participates. read more

I hate to complain because the employees are very friendly and cooperative. However, I drive there but SELDOM get in any studies! It is a waste of time! Last time, they wanted older women with wrinkles, but I didn't qualify because I didn't have enough wrinkles. Today, they needed women with dry skin so I thought I'd definitely qualify because I have dry skin! But alas, I didn't qualify because I had too dry skin and they only wanted light to medium dry skin! Until the recruiters can specify more specifically what kind of skin they are looking for (for example, a little dry skin or very dry skin) I'd recommend that you don't waste your time unless you live near there. read more

Typing this up in their carpark right on now after having wasted my time. I would leave zero stars if I could but I really just wanted to leave feedback for others and also the management (although after seeing this place I highly doubt they care) I signed up for today's C18-D041 study ( 4/20/18 , 9.30am group), excited to participate in a face cream study. I was called twice this week by Allyson to confirm my attendance. So I turn up early and notice no one is attending to the front desk reception area on L2. I can hear plenty of noise behind the door though. After watching two old people come in and go through the other door (obviously they have done this before), I decide to follow them and go through to see a messy corridor with various desks , color coded to whatever study they are managing. It was crowded, noisy, stuffy, and just like being in the waiting room at the DMV. Not what I expected but I can deal with that. It would have been nice to see a sign at the reception telling people to go through, or advising me in the previous phone calls made. I likened this to going to the medical centre and just strolling directly into the doctors office ignoring the reception area. I go to the first desk - red, I think it was - she checks the details on my email and says "Go to Matt at the blue desk. I "think" he is handling study 41". So I find Matt, he quietly consults with another man. I hear the words "cancelled" and "I think they're still sending people into 41" whispered a few times. He picks up the phone to confirm with somebody then turns to me apologetically and says he is sorry, but the study was cancelled this morning, they called everyone to let them know so as not to waste people's time..... Uh....NO, THEY DID NOT. No missed calls on my phone. They tried to tell me they could try to fit me into another study currently taking place. No thank you! I want nothing to do with such an unprofessional place! My background is marketing, and I have been involved in research before. This was just a disgrace. read more

I was highly disappointed with this group!! They are always running late, very unorganized, and said if you do a 2 week study you receive the check when you are finished which was not the case! I qualified, was there early for every appointment, and the study was 3 weeks long. In fact, today was my last appointment and that is when I was informed that "accounting doesn't have your check ready so it will be mailed to you." When cosmetic companies research and develop new products for the consumer market. They require essential feedback to further process it's effacy. Enter Stephen's and Associates. They are the middle man business to screen everyday consumers like you and I, to test future beauty products before they hit national retail chains. Typically they place electronic ads in Craigslists offering fair amount of financial compensation to become accepted candidates. Their screening representative is Joanne Luu. She can be reached on her cell # (972)716-0630. Call or email her to get electronic listings of their various consumer testings. Email:Joanne@newstudy.info. There are very specific requirements in order to be accepted into a detailed consumer test panel. Stephen's & Associates will start by listing out the study name. For example study # Z002. And this study is looking for men, ages 75-85, with large pores and sensitive skin. Most panel studies range in 2 or 3 visits for in person follow up and pay between $100- $300, each study various. So if you are interested in a particular study and fit the required demographics, contact Joanne to start the screening process. She will arrange a time for you to show up at their facility in Richardson. It is a newer more modern, yellow painted building, a few blocks north of the Interstate 635, 2 minutes off the 75 freeway. Following strict protocol is vital in being accepted into a study. 99% of facial studies require coming to your appointment with no makeup, sun screen, SPF, or other topical lotions on your face 30 minutes prior to your scheduled time. And they are FIRM about this, no pun intended. Once inside the building, take the elevator or stairs to the study clinic room 250 on the second floor. There will be a table with two associates handling in coming participants. Typically, the associate on the right will take your name and confirm which study you are interested in. Say Z002. Sit down and wait to be called up by this first representative. They verify your age, ethnicity, and gender from a valid state issued identification, like a driver's license. After answering a few questions, they provide you with the study paperwork if you pass their oral screenings. It is their job to verify no makeup is on your skin for examplr and that you do not have a few conflicting health issues. Fill out their screening paperwork and return it now to the second representative sitting on the left side of the table to get further processed into a particular study. This person will provide you detailed directions. There are three main colored clinics: red, blue, or green. Once around the first corner there is signage for the green, the first clinic area. Red is down another hall, just left of the green clinic, and the blue clinic, is next to the green further down the hall, but DOES NOT have a sign. Just look for the blue tiles on the floor. Believe me, they are there. Hand your study paperwork off to this associates. Now it's a few minutes before their certified dermatologist will examine your skin to verify if you truly qualify for their case study. In the 6 years I have been coming, I have only been rejected once for not having enough uneven sun damage or age spots. In which case they usually mail you a $20 check for your time. But if your current skin condition fits their very specific case study. You are approved and further processed into a given study. After receiving your test product, follow that protocol. Return for follow up or to turn in your paperwork. Typically they require a daily sheet where you write what time you used the product and any side effects, positive or negative. Again you are testing a product before it comes to market and they need crucial information for its success. You get to keep most unused product, which is great. Some studies require the sample to be returned. Either way, you get a high end quality product for free with hopefully very positive effects. Yeah. And you collect a few hundred dollars in the process. Not a bad thing at all. Typically, one must wait 4 to 6 weeks before applying for another or similar study. Which makes sense. They need time for your skin to normalize and become neutral from each test products effects. Sometimes at the end of the study, associates may be able to share the products intended name and company that makes it. Sometimes, it's a trade secret and they legally cannot disclose this. So don't get bummed if their test product really worked and you cannot go and buy it in the near future. It's rare but it does happen. Why only 3 out of 5 stars on this review?? Stephen's and Associates is not as smooth or as organized as one would hope. So be patient. The staff is nice and trying to do their best. But it never fails, there are always delays in getting processed. So bring your cool as cucumber disposition and get on in the easy money and beauty product bandwagon. It's fun. It's free. Unorganized mess. The front desk is run by the only adult in the office and she's soooo rude. The children (literally) running the office have no clue what they are doing. A half hour appointment takes one hour-- an hour appointment takes an hour and a half to two hours. They have to "fix" a computer while you wait. It's such a joke. I love the concept of this place- test products and get paid really well. However the execution sucks. They need some grown ups supporting this office. read more

I'm giving a review because Stephens asked me in an email. I set up an appointment to begin a clinical trial. I live about 15 miles away so it was a bit of a drive when I pulled into the parking lot I got a phone call and it was Steven's. They told me that they were full and that they didn't need me to come in. It was literally five minutes before my appointment. I don't feel that they were very respectful of my time I do realize they were full and it is a clinical trial however maybe give me at least an hour notice so that I don't drive 50 miles. read more

I really enjoy doing studies for Stephans and Associates. It's easy to do and the extra money comes in really handy.

I would rate them higher from previous studies but recently its been hard to be selected and when I am selected through the phone when I show up I have been turned down. Disappointing when it has happened three times in a row. I don't live close by so it is a bit of a drive to be turned down and waste time and gas. I will try again in the future when I have more availability and see how it goes. Other than that the staff is very friendly over the phone and helpful when you show up for an appointment. My daughter was screened and setup for a survey and her appointment was set. We went into the office early in the morning and after 2 hours of waiting we went into the "blue medical clinic" to be seen by a doctor to "qualify". The EXTREMELY condescending rude doctor stated that my daughter was too DARK even before she even saw her. I asked her how can she state this when she had not seen her and she said she can just tell by her hands. I believe she saw the fact that my daughter was African American and disqualified her just on that basis. I felt extremely discriminated against and my 10 year old daughter was heartbroken as the doctor kept calling her too "dark" to proceed. As I walked out of the room I noticed every African American child left in the waiting room was tapped on the shoulder and told they did not qualify. This type of treatment completely intolerable and degrading to the families who were told to come in for this visit. The study did not mention a race only for children ages 6-12. This company should have better screening to potential testers. They do not deserve any stars for this treatment. Seems very racist as a company. As if African Americans do not use toiletries. read more
