Came here to celebrate my belated birthday, the food was fantastic and fresh, they also have a variety of side dishes, meat and rice to choose from. It's a bit expensive though, but i would say the food and service does meet up the price. People consistently walking around so if u needed something they would give it to ya~

It's been a while since visiting Shabusen and seem them have an affordable AYCE lunch menu. Decided to add the grill meats of 4 opens (beef, spicy beef, chicken and pork) The roll and sushi option was pretty standard, although a bit smaller

I was honestly beyond disappointed, but I guess you get what you paid for. For $25, you get all you can eat sushi and for another $3, you get to KBBQ (which had 4 meat choices). You can't beat the price in this economy honestly. Bring your debit, otherwise you'll get charged for using your credit. Sushi/Tapas selection: - it was misleading as the sashimi was not all you can eat. each person is only able to order a total of 8 pieces for the entire meal. this needs to be stated more clearly. - the sashimi was not fresh and was FROZEN. I bit into them and it felt like i was biting into some sort of slush.. soo icy. there was no prominent flavour either. - they had a few basic rolls available but the fish and filling were smaller than my pinky nail and helllla rice - their tempura wasn't all that bad-- the batter wasn't that crunchy but the vegetables inside were decent - their katsu and teriyaki were up to par with restaurants as well - yakisoba.. probably one of the worst i've had - scallop done was delicious Kbbq: - 4 types of meat available - wish they had options where the meat wasn't already marinated (bc of different eating restrictions) - overall, decent for an extra $3 Pretty spacious inside. Customer service wasn't bad, wasn't great. They weren't rude but did their job to a minimum I guess. I was surprised it wasn't busy and we didn't need a reservation during a Saturday peak lunch time. But after eating there I guess it explains why.

The quality of the meat wasn't the best but it was expected since it was an AYCE restaurant. The kimchi was a little too sweet, and the quality of the sushi wasn't great either. The menu wasn't very clear that some food items only come out as 1 piece per quantity ordered, and service was so-so.

Several of us came here for dinner. Food: 5/5 - select your choices by ticking off items in an order card. Food was fresh and tasty. Lots of selection ranging from BBQ meats to sushi to appetizers. Portions are small but that's okay. Less wastage of food. Service: 5/5 - good service and they even replaced our dirty dish a few times Ambiance: 5/5 - we had a nice room to ourselves.

We came in the afternoon. It was kind of hard to find the place on the map but there were signs that did help show that it was located on a higher level. For a grill house to also offer sushi, it was not bad at all. My expectations were not high so this place was enough for us since we wanted to try it out. Ambiance was nice, super spacious location for larger groups.

This review is about Too Good To Go deal and their sushi quality. I understand it's surprise bag and the customer doesn't know what inside. That's totally fine and I was looking forward to the surprise. First of all, it had good volume and variety of rolls with miso soup. Normally, I don't order any spicy rolls but the surprise bag had it, why not? I tried it. All I tasted is only spicy sauce. I flipped the slice up side down because I doubt it was sushi. Yep there was a fish. I wondered how many people can recognize what fish inside and how fresh they are under the sauce? It's a pleasure part of eating sushi. But here, I felt disgusted. And Gari, pickled ginger, there was moldy taste. I would never come back again.

Spicy tuna roll and dynamite roll. Both pretty sad.

I couldn't decide between 2-3 stars. In summary: this is one of the few AYCE sushi places left in Vancouver, but the selection and quality leaves too much to be desired. It's not a bad price for AYCE but just not worth it. You only get 8 pieces of sashimi per person, total. The pieces are on the small side compared to other local places, and the quality especially of the hamachi is not very high. It feels not firm but mushy. The "spicy" is just some sauce on top, very blah. The selection is very tiny. 4 kinds of sashimi, only 6 kinds of nigiri of which only 2 is fish, not even eel. Only 2 kinds of rolls if you don't count California roll and basic veggie rolls. They have more hot food. The Chicken teriyaki and tonkotsu is not bad - crispy at least though not much meat. The yakinori is really tiny. The gyoza and agedashi tofu is pretty sad. If you must have AYCE I guess this is an option but I would just pass.

    Sushi, mussel, pork, chicken, kimchi.

Great food with great service. Ambiance was great too. Limited menu option though for all you can eat.

Honestly an A-OK yakiniku house. I've had yakiniku in Japan and this definitely does not compare to it and I also felt it didn't compare to other AYCE grill restaurants. The sushi was very OK - we got a tuna sashimi and it was not very fresh. I did like the salmon though. For the yakiniku, I would say the BBQ spicy pork and chicken were quite good. The yakisoba was very flavourless - I could really only taste the salt. But I did like the vegetable tempura very much! One thing is I don't know how clean everything is as the employees use gloves - they're holding bowls of raw meat, bringing new dishes, removing old dishes from multiple tables, and pouring ice into the pitcher and using the gloves to prevent the ice from spilling out with the same gloves. Maybe they change their gloves at intervals but I do feel there's a high incidence of cross contamination. Still a good experience to go to in Vancouver!

One of the OG last remaining AYCE sushi places in the downtown core. I remember eating here once maybe 15 years ago, and totally forgot until all the other AYCE places around town started drying up. Parking is awful. Try for a loading zone, or take transit. The place is up on the 2nd floor. Interior is pretty dated with the neon strips. Looks 1990s. One thing worth mentioning is that although this place also has Korean BBQ, the tables do not have exhaust vents above the tables. The entire place gets pretty smoky, and their solution is to open the front door(!) to air the place out, letting all the cold air in. Not sure if this is even legal. Cough. The staff speak Cantonese. In other words, don't expect an authentic experience. Just expect a whole pile of sashimi goodness. This place has unlimited sashimi. Yes, you heard that right. I can't remember the last time I got to have that. Can't imagine how many salmon and tuna fish my friends and I went through. Special mention. Skip the regular nigiri. The nigiri selection is pretty decent, with stuff like hokkigai (surf clam), tako (octopus), and unagi (eel). However, there was no masago or tobiko (fish roe) variant. The Korean BBQ selection is nice, but the grill burner at our table must've been slightly clogged. One side was noticeably hotter than the other, so we could only cook at half speed. The grill area is also quite small, so we couldn't cook the pieces fast enough, which put a damper on the experience. Lastly, the coffee jello dessert is like crack. The staff had to stop us after we probably had 6-8 each. Another special mention. Despite the flaws, my friends and I will be back to gorge on more AYCE sashimi. Despite the steep price, it's still way cheaper to eat sashimi here than at T&T. I can't believe I'm saying this.

Portions for the BBQ are really generous, and the marinated meat is super flavorful.

Portions for the BBQ are really generous, and the marinated meat is super flavorful. For sushi, I'd definitely go for the eel rolls, and the tempura is a solid choice too. But honestly, loading up on the salmon sashimi feels like the best deal.

The taste is terrible and the menu doesn't have many choices! Shortrib is not bone-in beef! Their food quality is the worst and the beef is hard to chew! The miso soup doesn't have any ingredients! Even the spoon is not given! And there is no dipping sauce for the grilled meat! The price is expensive and there is a misleading charge for children, 4$per year old, 4*8=32$for 8 years old! There are flies flying around while eating! Even the toilet is very small, can't think of any good points! Anyway, I will never come back a second time! By the way, the food was unhygienic and my family had stomachaches at night!

They answered all my questions and offered recommendations, and were very welcoming. Nam San seems to be very popular for their Soondae (blood sausage). However, I've never really tried Soondae before and I was feeling nauseous on the day of my visit--so I opted for something more mild and less "adventurous" instead. I will definitely be back to try their Soondae next time though. Daeji Gukbap 10/10 This boiled bowl of stew was exactly what my upset tummy needed. The creamy broth warmed me right up and soothed my stomach so well. It was the only thing I was able to keep down in two days. There was also a generous amount of tender and flavourful pork inside. This bowl of stew honestly reminded me so much of the one we tried in Busan. Definitely recommend it to anyone who likes stews. There was no gaminess at all, and yet the soup was still so full of flavour. Absolutely delicious. Have you guys tried this hidden gem yet? 10/10 ‍10/10 $ ($15-$18/set) Nam San Korean Cuisine | 1610 Robson St, Vancouver

So this place now operates under the name Nam San but is still an absolute gem. One of the three…read moreremaining stalls in the Robson Public Market food court, Nam San specializes in pork offal and homemade Korean blood sausage (soondae), incorporated into a variety of dishes. I always order the same thing, a mixed pork offal and soondae soup. You can choose the spiciness level when you order but they also offer red pepper flakes and fish sauce on the side to add to taste. It comes in small and large, with a side of pickled radish, roasted seaweed, and white rice. Even with the small, you get a lot of meat in the hot stone bowl and it is so comforting. The offal is super tender but the star here is definitely the soondae. Pork blood and vermicelli with spices are encased in an intestine casing, making for a unique springy texture. It's even more tasty when you dip into their homemade fish sauce and the stew warms you to the bone. I love supporting small mom and pop shops, and with how tucked away this place is on the busy Robson strip, I'll definitely make an effort to frequent them time and time again. Please pay them a visit and try their unique offerings out!
