The park was very busy while we were there. We stayed several days, however our site was not close to being a good one. We have stayed there several times over the years, but we've never had such an awful site. It was not close to level with several large potholes on the asphalt pad, with a severe grade to the dirty sitting area. read more

My dad lived there for almost 2 years and at first it was fine. But now they dont open the restrooms till after 1:30 pm because they are not cleaned yet which isn't acceptable when she has a 20 year old special needs son that got used to his morning showers. Many of us residents are scared to speak up because this is our home, so anonymous review it is. The "family park" is always littered with dog poop. It was not even bothered to be picked up for the Easter egg hunt! The "dog park" is all dirt, and you guessed it, littered with dog poop. The bathrooms are always out of toilet paper and are not cleaned regularly. One of the sinks has been leaking. The laundry room floor is always full of dog hair and lint. I usually use a laundromat in town, but the washers and dryers are decent, just a little expensive. Speeding in the park is a problem. The speed limit is 5mph, not 20. Kids are everywhere. The pool is always dirty. The hot tub is..... barely warm. Definitely not hot. Both usually look cloudy, probably due to the bleach poured in and not being maintained appropriately. Not worth the amount of money spent when people cannot follow the rules laid out in the lease. Luckily, I shouldn't be stuck here much longer. read more

So, I'm not sure if people who stay, live here can read or comprehend but pool etiquette would be nice. Who takes their dog to the pool see him urinating & do a poor job on cleaning it by opening the shower? That was absolutely disgusting!!! Also if y'all have a baby use the proper swimming diapers because all you're doing is soaking their diapers in the pool with their bowel moments & urine basically you want us swimming in their filth. I get we have no manager in sight on the weekends but holy smokes people it's not that hard to follow done simple rules for all of our well being & sanitation purposes. Fuc**en nasty! read more

I have never been more disappointed with an rv resort more than this place. Unsanitary conditions are just the start of it. Management was horrible. Ashley was the "manager" at the time, she did absolutely nothing to help the tenants. Complete trash of a rv park! Stay away from this place!!! They also make fake reviews. We stayed here on our way home from Southern California to Northern California. I would definitely return. The grounds are super clean! The spaces are pull through, paved and very spacious. Was able to pull our 65 ft Rv and enclosed trailer right in no problem at all. The customer service was excellent. Checking in was easy then we were guided to our space. Staff and owners are super friendly and helpful. Location is right off the freeway easy to get to. It was quite besides the train which didn't bother me at all. read more

Feels like home. We found Shady Haven online after reviewing all that Bakersfield had to offer. We are locals here and weren't sure about the location since we were having to stay a couple months.. Let me tell you, we've never felt so at home. My husband is a lineman and is away from home A LOT, I homeschool our two boys and we are home alone a lot. We feel super safe, the kids can ride their bikes and play without worry. Our big lab is also comfortable, we can play frisbee at the dog parks with plenty of room and we all love the nice pool/spa. The owners go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Lots of traveling nurses and lineman who stay for months at a time, it's a quiet and safe community. We stay in the covered sites ($100 extra and well worth it in the summer) it helps to keep your energy bill down and camp cooler. We are super happy at Shady Haven. They are working daily to renovate all areas, and the improvements already done are awesome. So thankful we found this place! read more

Great place for storage, even though it gets hot in Bakersfield, we found that even on the hotest day, our unit stayed fairly cool so nothing got ruined. They have cameras and self entering gate with key card. Recommend getting the round lock. read more

We used this park as our stopping point going and coming home from our trip. The first time we arrived at 2:05pm and saw the office closed 1:30-2:30 for lunch. We just made lunch in the coach. Once in, he said just pick a spot and here is your key card for the gate. No shade, too many permanent residents in the last 3 rows and dogs running around made me nervous. Pool/Spa down....train running all night and freeway very close. BUT we are all ready signed up to return when we come home. 2ND VISIT BACK To our surprise he moved us to the left side which was very clean, you had your own pad and it was much nicer. Nice dog area plus pool and spa were open and very clean. We still had the train/traffic noises but we were both so tired it didn't matter. Yes, I'd stay here again but for only one night sleep over. This was home for us for 5 months! The owners are amazing. Super family friendly. It's a very safe, clean park. There is a lot of trade worker families so everyone is pretty quiet. The new bathrooms and laundry room are beautifully updated! Propane is available on-site and the maintenance guy will pick it up for you in the mornings, making it very convenient! My wife and myself were in need of a Park that could handle us more than overnight and on a month-to-month basis. This Park, especially its staff, have welcomed us with open arms. They keep an immaculately clean Park and are there to help any person staying there with anything they possibly can. I have stayed at many parks in my life, and this is at the top of my list. My wife and I stayed here for 4 months on a work contract at a local hospital as a travel nurse. We were staying at another park called A Country RV Park who made us fell like we needed them not them needing us (the customer), which I don't do business with people like that. Shady Haven in the past was a rough, rundown heap of an RV park before new owners Paul and Leha took it over and literally turned it into a gem of a place to stay, especially if you're a traveling contract worker, which they give a discount if you are. Shady Haven is nestled in East Bakersfield's industrial section which is a little iffy but when you're in the park you simply have 0 concern. The park is tall-gated with badge entry, clean newly remodeled laundry, club house, bathrooms,workout room. Their rules are actually enforced, great dog runs, clean pool and hot tub, super friendly staff and live on-site owners. Decent cable and WiFi as well. We stayed in their cabana section that has shade fabric coverings over the top of your rig which dramatically helped with the Bakersfield heat. For a moderate RV park this place has it all. Also when you're in this RV park don't be afraid to show your American patriotism, it's totally welcome here even though it's still in commifornia. read more

Would definitely NOT recommend this place! Made a reservation, within 30 minutes had to cancel the reservation, they charged us for canceling?? Never once did they say they had a cancellation fee! The manager Brad was rude and said he couldn't refund us, when we told him we would dispute the charge with our credit card company, he told us we should do that if we didnt want to pay the fee? Let me first say, when you meet this owner operator couple, he is a hard working guy that cares about his customers and the way his buissness looks, she is always an upbeat personality, and dresses to the nines, which is nice to see these days. The park is very organized, clean, and very well taken care of. Easy access from the 58 , should you get a chance to stay here you won't be disappointed, mind you that they are next to train tracks( accross the street) if that train horn blows, you can bet Paul the owner will be over there telling that guy to shut that off, no matter what time it is, Its a quiet zone through that area.. This park is a disgrace, the trains run all day and night, the people who run it aren't honest, they charged me 35 dollars just to leave, we stayed for a month and they were going to try and charge us for another month because they said we didn't give them a 30 day notice but we told them when we moved in we were only staying for a month, it's all about the money here , beware. read more

The staff was very rude. We arrived after hours and called the number on the door. When the staff came outside, she was yelling and said she was calling the sheriff. I clarified I was trying to pay to rent a spot for the night and she in still a rude tone said they don't accept arrivals after 6 and that the cops were on their way. We came to this park for my husbands work we thought we were only going to be a couple weeks. We ended up here for three months and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this RV Park. The new owners are doing so much everyday to make it even better. The park is smaller than most we've been at but we loved it that way. The people in the park were fabulous to get to know. The owners managers and park workers were over the top friendly. The spaces were a lovely size. The park was quiet minus a train here and there each day going by. We always felt safe with the gates at the entrances and all of the cameras all over. We even revisited the park for a night and stayed in the short term section it was very nice. What can I say about this place, the new owners have made it clean and safe. I loved the pool and spa for lazy days out of the RV. They do short and long term rentals and just put up shade units. It's a great place to park your wheels on the way to Arizona or Vegas read more

Lots of negative reviews. It is a great place to stop on your way thru Bakersfield. Had no problems. Very clean. Even the monthly sites seem to be well kept. Only suggestion would be to update dog area and put a door on the park. Also get the dog run fixed. I will stop again. Now called shady haven. Oh I wish but great place to stop. Under new owners and this has to be one of the best run parks we've lived in. My husband and I are full time RV'ers in our 30s and we always have a hard time finding a safe, clean, uncluttered, and affordable place with nice neighbors. This RV place has all of it! Clean amenities and perfect, hospitable customer service. We've been here for a month can't wait to stay here again each year! The only negative is the train is right beside the park and you can hear it occasionally every day. It doesn't bother us though. If that's the worst thing in this park, we're still happy! read more

We have a pop up camper and were running ate in the day so we decided to use this place. Much to my surprise the bathrooms are locked from 9-9 every night so we did not have any bathroom facilities.
