I recently moved to Oakley and I'm an avid golfer. Coming from the Bay Area, I played many of the courses. So moving to Oakley, I have a few options to play near my house. I went there first to use their driving range. I was informed that they have a membership fee and offer discounts for the tee time, range balls, and 2 weeks advance for tee times. I finally tried playing there and I was amazed by the condition of the golf course. It's well-maintained and the fairways and greens are spectacular. The layout of the course is also amazing. It's a challenging course and as a high handicapper, I was challenged on course management as well as selection of clubs. There's several holes with water hazards next to the greens. So selecting the right club and the right approach to the green is a must. I have unfortunately lost several balls on several holes. If you want this to be your home course, I suggest you get their membership and save on the tee rate, range balls, and twilight rate. read more

This was my first time playing this course. The course was not in great condition - the tee boxes were a mess, pin placement on the greens was odd. The fairways were quite dry. This is a challenging course and could be a lot more fun if it was in better condition. read more

We had our baby shower at Shadow Lakes Event Center, and it was such a wonderful experience! Patricia was so kind and helpful throughout the whole process. Communication was excellent--she answered all of my questions promptly and even offered great recommendations for our setup. She did a beautiful job arranging the tables and chairs, and on the day of the event, she went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Patricia helped adjust things for our food trays, desserts, and games, which made the day run so smoothly. She even stayed to help us clean up afterward! 1 star for the driving range there are no set hours some days it's closed at 3:30 but other days open till 5 no set hours they just open and close as they want. The golf course is ok would be better with a marshal to help keep the slow play to a minimum read more

We had my daughter's high school graduation party here. It was wonderful. The space is full of light, and everything was set up to my specifications. Patricia was wonderful! We had about 60 people there, and there was so much space for more. A great taco company was suggested and we really enjoyed the food. We held my Mom's Celebration of Life party at Shadow Lakes Club and it was absolutely perfect! We were in a panic to get a location booked. I e-mailed Patricia and within a couple of hours she got back to me with pricing and pictures. We then scheduled a day for my family and I to come take a look in person. We were blown away as soon as we stepped foot into the ballroom! We were also able to use the outdoor space as well for no extra fee. Patricia was kind, empathetic and understanding. She knew how much this celebration meant to our family. She made everything so easy and simple and was a joy to work with! She let us come the day before the celebration to decorate the tables and room the way we wanted and made herself available to help us. The day of the celebration, everything was taken care of and went smoothly. Even though this get together was not under the best circumstances, everyone had a great time celebrating my Moms life and thought everything was beautiful. We knew my Mom would be so proud. We could not be happier with how everything turned out and will definitely use Shadow Lakes Club again! read more

I Met with Patricia and Alan for an event we are planning. First of all the facility is INCREDIBLE. I had not viewed it since the event center was in the other building and it had weird carpet and a stage and was so run down. The transformation for this venue has been AMAZING. From floor to ceiling- bathrooms to bar, the venue is sparkling new, super clean, and modern. The outdoor area has a great photo back drop and shade and bistro tables. We worked with Patricia and Alan on the rental and they were extremely easy to work with, offering awesome ideas that I hadn't thought of. Hands down a stellar, no stress experience thus far. Wow. Tee times seem to be 5 minutes apart. I had to let so many people play through, I lost count. We paid for 18 holes for a group of 4 and just quit at the 12th hole. $59 per person plus $60 in beverages due to the extreme heat on the course. No water available or golf cart beverage service. Never returning. Called to let cours3 know of issue and see if they'd make it right and they refused. Acted like they were unaware of the other yelp reviewers calling out bad pin placement on course that cause back ups. Wish I'd read reviews before going there. This is the 2nd or 3rd time a similar situation has happened here, but only the 1st time I call about it to ask for them to make it right. The fact that the staff doesn't really care and they act like they don't know about the problem is amazing. Won't be driving out to Brentwood to golf when there are so many other beautiful courses with cooler weather and more appropriately spaced tee times and better pin locations tee that don't force you to rush. Don't take my word for it many other reviews also mention tee times / pin placements causing problems. As I told them directly, I won't be returning. read more

Fine place for getting in a quick nine mid-week if you are in the area. I have played when killing time between business appointments. It's not an easy nine, two consecutive par 3s longish and a beast of a finishing hole par 5 like 550 into wind from the tips. Greens are pretty good. I wouldn't make a special trip but if within 20 minutes check it out. About $33 with cart. It used to be a great 18, hope they get that form back. Nice staff. read more

Clean course with well manicured greens. Despite the heat there was a nice breeze. Quite a bit of goose/bird poop near the water holes but fairways were cut well with rough areas defined. Clubhouse needs work, not the comfy cozy atmosphere you want after a hot 5 plus hour round. read more

The course is very nice and greens are great, I would've chose 5 star however, in 95deg weather there should be several water jugs available but there's not even one, also there should be a cart girl available to sell cold drinks and snacks plus a small restaurant to have lunch there and then this course might be worth the $59 green fee on a weekday. read more

I am renting the event center for a party in June. Alan and Patricia were fabulous to work with and very accommodating. The facility is beautiful and the property surrounding the event center that we will use is well maintained and the views are gorgeous. We LOVE playing at Shadow. It is well kept. The variety of holes are very enjoyable, and the staff is always accommodating.

Course is ok. Range closes VERY early which sucks for anyone looking to hit balls after work. Greens are well kept however the Greenskeeper might be inexperienced in pin placements. Most pins are placed on extreme slopes where even a well executed shot that drops near the hole will easily roll 4-5 feet away. Better pin placements would not only help the pace of play but make the round more enjoyable, in my opinion. Better pin placements and keeping the driving range open until at least sunset are the 2 things that would make this place better read more

Just had a chance to play the newly renovated 18, and it's great. The sand is nice, the fairways are in good shape, and the tee boxes are nice too. They are still building around it so it will be even nicer. A Marshall stopped to check in with us that pace was good, which was unexpected and nice. Pace was great, the course is pretty fair all around. The one star knock is for having a nicer bar area for after round laughs. I will be back for sure. Nice new carts, although they could use ball cleaners either on them or around the course. It's nice to have another nice course within driving distance. read more

My company booked an event for all our departments here and what a mistake that was! We were all separated into groups like a bunch of little kids and had teenagers chaperoning us the whole time! I didnt even get to play with the guys from my department which was the whole point! This place does to much if you want a laid back time go to lone tree course way more relaxed. We've hit balls and golfed here many times over the past year. One staff member told us to play quicker, and to "suck faster". Another publicly called me out on the driving range for having yellow balls in my bag, and verbally accosted me on the range. Several of the staff are short w/ visitors and seem to have a chip on their shoulders. On a separate occasion, a golfer hit a ball over my head due to being impatient- and my kids taking too long on the hole- then reported us for taking too long. A staff member then drove out to our party on the course and informed me we were holding up other parties. Their sense of PR and hospitality are severely lacking and in need of major revision. That said, I do have children (ages 12-18) and this course is definitely NOT child friendly. The course and range are both nice on their own, and the planned 9 hole addition looks pretty amazing. As with all businesses, it all starts w/ your people and approach. Being in a hospitality driven business, you either create a professional and welcoming environment- or not. I hope Mgmt takes the opportunity to refine their approach and extend the golfing community to the general public and future generations. read more

Playing here recently brought back memories to when the course was open years ago. Had a great time playing here. The layout is a lot of fun, up and down, around water, through the nice neighborhood. Fairways were in average condition. Greens were nice and the bunkers were nice. Carts were great! Will definitely come back and play here soon. read more

3.5 stars. It seems they just opened up again with 9 holes, which you play twice. The course is in decent condition and has a fun layout. The only complaint was the pace of play, which may be due to the 2 par 3s at the end coupled with having to play the same 9 twice. I most likely wouldn't play here again as it took over 5 hours to finish the round. read more

No thanks! With all the drama and lousy community support and interaction, I'd prefer to AVOID THIS COURSE! Playing 9 twice is not the same as playing 18. And what about Deer Ridge? Management has made a mess of the course. The PRICE to play is over the top. It is a shame that all the homeowners never got the country club that was promised. They should allow Shadow Lakes and Deer Ridge to be managed by a company that cares enough to do all 36 holes right and maintain appropriate facilities. I'd rate this course and the company that owns it --- 5 THUMBS DOWN ! read more

Course is in good condition because it's new but pace of play is SLOW. Also these guys close the range early when they don't feel like working. Online says range is open till 5pm some days and 7pm other days, however, when you arrive the kids working will tell you they close at 3pm(the sun doesn't even set till 5:30pm). Don't waste your time coming here if you want to hit balls after work...Lone Tree range is open till 9pm. read more
