Did I feel safe? Yes. This park only had families with children. It's also one of the West Covina Parks that confidently post their rules. There's many signs labeled "Park Watch" to keep residents safe. What utilities? There's two main playgrounds. One play ground has an airplane that kids can climb into. That same playground has nets where they can freely climb; the floor is spongey foam, so they have a soft landing. The other playground is tropical and fenced. Toddlers can run near plastic trees, and there's a plastic cat with an open mouth where they can sprint through. The location also has a fenced baseball field; there's a public shaded patio with tables; and there's public park gym equipment equipped with umbrellas for shade. There's also a restroom and water fountains. What are the negatives? This location doesn't feel very pet friendly. I didn't see any pet waste bags, and there's not really a walking area. There's a possible concrete walking loop, but visitors will be walking on the sidewalk. Also, it lacks many common utilities (example: no basketball courts, no tennis courts, etc). Overall, Palm View Park squeaks into a 5 Star because it feels memorable for families. The playgrounds are very adorable, and I like how there's beautiful, big trees near the seating area. If searching for some interesting playgrounds, this is a good choice if already nearby. 4.5 out of 5

This park felt like a comfortable adventure. Did I feel safe? Yes. I primarily saw groups upon groups of families. Many were holding celebrations and gatherings. The location felt clean & well-maintained, and it's one of the few parks that had security cameras from up above. What utilities? There's a large, fun playground area. It has nets to climb, a plastic rock wall, and plenty of slides. There's a park exercising machine area nestled by the playground, and there's a basketball hoop. There's also a volleyball area, baseball field, and concrete cornhole boards for tossed beanbags. There's a restroom, dog waste plastic bag station, water fountains, and many public picnic tables for gatherings. I especially liked how these concrete tables had cover and an installed grill station. What are the negatives? There's no clear walking trail. However, visitors can wander freely since there's a spiderweb of concrete pathways. It also lacks multiple basketball courts, tennis courts, or other familiar areas. Overall, Irwindale Park is scenic, beautiful, and clean. It's a wonderful destination for a family to lounge and relax. The area is well-maintained, and I felt happy as I observed an Irwindale Squirrel pose in front of me for the camera. I enjoyed my visit. 4.7 out of 5

Walnut Creek Park is a 2-acre staging area and a beautiful 4 mile trail. It's nestle along W.C…read more trail in San Dimas, CA. This hidden trail route is considered easy to moderate with an elevation gain of 625 feet. Moreover, this trial is good for dogs (unleashed), family, and kids. Plenty of tree shades and stream crossings. You'll see a thriving flora and fauna throughout the park. Similarly, you'll find yourself swinging in an old used tire and/or rope. I really dig it. Hikers were quite friendly and trail was not crowded. Parking can be found by Lyman Staging area and San Dimas avenue. Overall, I enjoyed visiting Walnut Creek Park. I highly recommend you visit.

It lacks certain utilities, but it has that rare public football field. I felt comfortable here. Did I feel safe? Yes. This felt very clean, welcoming, and family oriented. I noticed Little League Baseball and their family; I saw teenagers praying since their church is nearby; and I saw families just resting. What utilities? This location has two baseball fields, one football field, one concrete walking path, a refurbished playground that's firetruck themed, many tables (some with a gazebo roof), a restroom, water fountains, and a pet plastic bag waste dispenser. What are the negatives? There are no basketball courts, tennis courts, and other typical, extra utilities. The walking path is very distinct, but the path is concrete and shade can sometimes be sparse depending on the day. Overall, Cortez Park squeaks into the 5 Star Rating Spot because it felt very scenic. Out of the many parks that I've seen today, I found a scampering squirrel happily eating in her tree. This rolling hillsides and small statues make this park a bit more memorable. This park is a nice, lovely spot to wander under a cloudy, new day. 4.5 out of 5

This park may look small but is much bigger when you come for a visit. My husband, our little girl dog and I have been to this part a handful of times for dog play dates and also recently to take our family photo. The park has beautiful backdrops that would be perfect for any photo shoot. But also a place to walk (there is a loop trail here that you can walk), (covered) picnic tables, a fireplace and a playground. There are also restrooms available. This park does provide some shade and is very beautiful when the flowers are in bloom. There is also plenty of greenery. The park is pretty quiet and has always been an enjoyable visit for us.

The playground has multiple entries with two slides? Two monkey bars, stepping stone style elevated steps, a fireman pole, etc... definitely a fun park to come to. There is a little creek adjacent to the playground where you get a nice tranquil stream of flowing water drowned by the screams and laughter of children in the background, lol.. its nice really and something that sets it apart. We did not go further past the stream but there appears to be additional tables and a trail. Had a great time meeting our friends there and enjoying some fun times with the kids in the process. My kids loved it.

Once you head down the slope, it does feels like a secret hideaway beyond the trees. This was especially apparent during the late December rainfall, where the wet and gusty weather resulted in many fallen leaves. The air was extra crisp, a perfect place to run around or play hide and seek. I've also come here before during the summer, and I can tell the management takes great care of keeping this place clean. The hike itself is relatively easy with some stairs and incline as well as a nice view to boot. Exercise stations are sprinkled around the top portion which the regulars here can benefit from.

There's also an installed lighting system that turns on when it gets dark. What utilities? There's four pickleball courts, rubber walking trail, brand new playground, two public fitness areas with park exercise equipment, one basketball court, one soccer area, and one gated baseball field area. There's also a restroom with a nearby water fountain. And I spotted a dog waste plastic bag dispenser, so this location is dog friendly. What are the negatives? There are zero tennis courts. Also, the basketball courts are limited to just one. Also, there's not many public tables for eating. I spotted just three tables in the back (near the playground) and two tables in the front (near parking). Lastly, unlike Covina Park, there were no cute, friendly squirrels to be seen. Overall, Hollenbeck Park is spectacular! I am a long-time resident of Covina, and I am genuinely blown away by all these renovations. In the past, this spot was not special. Now... it's one of the best parks that I've ever visited. If searching for a family friendly location or a safe spot to exercise, this is a very easy choice. 5 out of 5!!!!

The new playground has something for kids of different ages. There is a toddler swing for your little ones if they want to swing away. Little kids coffee shop with seating for your Little's. There is a roofed area with 2 picnic tables but no barbecue grill. I have seen families spread blankets on the grassy lot for picnic purposes. I have also come across some ladies who do yoga exercises. For those who shoot hoops, there is a half basketball court. It is a small park but it is clean, well-maintained, not crowded and just the right size and atmosphere for those who want a laid-back playtime with their kids.

I liked that it had a spinning wheel/carousel. There was about one public table, one restroom, and a water fountain. There was also a kid-sized basketball hoop. It's not a court. What are the negatives? There's no space to walk or exercise. It's an extreme bare minimum. This "park" felt like a play-set built in an affluent neighbor's backyard. This is a spot for local residents. Also, the parking is bad for visitors; there's no parking lot. Visitors park on the side of the road; sign says, "No Parking Thursday - 7AM to 11:30AM." Overall, Rancho Park is a quaint curiosity. It's well-maintained, but if it ever gets busy, you'll have zero room to do anything. At the very least, there's nice shades from trees. If bored, you can just lay on the grass. 3.5 out of 5
