Brand new facility. Been open for over a year. I think they used to have an older place before moving to this location. Inside is nice and big. Very clean. We use this facility to board our 9 mo old black lab. We were given a tour of the facility. Note: If it's your first time boarding with them, your pet will have a complimentary check-up with their vet. Your pet must be up-to-date with all their vaccines. They have a nice play area for the dogs. You can choose different size kennels. We opted for the VIP suite ($45/night) since our dog is bigger sized. More room for him to move around. Inside the VIP suite is a bed for them to sleep in. You can bring your pets toys and own food which we did. They also have food there for your pet if you forget. We added on extra play time at $4 a day since our dog is still a puppy. Besides their daily 3 walks a day. They add 3 extra play times with staff in their play area. Something to note. The facility is closed on Sundays and you can't pick up your pet. They do have staff to tend to the animals. If you stay 3 nights they give your pet a complimentary bath (usually $36 for large size breeds) We have boarded our pet twice and both times had good experiences. read more

I've been going here for a while but since they moved and enlarged their services, the quality has gone way down. I took my dog, Chico, in for teeth cleaning and was supposed to get a call if the bill exceeded $400. No call and it was almost $700. The blanket I took with him never made it back home. Today I took him in for a simple bath, anal gland expression and nail trim and he was there for over two hours! Chico is a small chihuahua. The previous groomer took less than half an hour because he is short haired. Newer staff seems incompetent and doesn't seem to care much when you have a problem. I've been boarding my precious fur babies here for at least 15 years. It's the only way I can leave town without Constantly worrying about my precious boys. The staff is outstanding and knowing that Dr Jenny is there in case anything happens is a huge comfort to me. That's also the only veterinary clinic I have taken them to, and the staff actually knows their names and treats the like family. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves their kiddos. Tommy and Jerry are both rescues and have special needs. Jerry is blind and diabetic and very attached to his brother Tommy, who's a VERY SENSITIVE cockapoo. The entire staff treats both of them as they would their own. I can't say enough how grateful I am that there's a place like this for them. read more

I've twice boarded my cat Gatsby at Creature Comforts located within the veterinary office. Keep in mind your pet does need to be up to date on their vaccines and they do offer a free wellness exam for first time patients. The first time I visited for an exam I did wait quite a while in the exam room. The exam visit was almost 2 hours. After his first boarding, they forgot to clip Gatsby's nails which I did pay for. They apologized for the oversight and allowed me to bring him in the next day. We were in and out for his mani/pedi in less than 10 minutes. His 2nd time being boarded went well. He seemed happy in his duplex. I highly recommend booking a duplex for your cat. You get 2 rooms for your cat instead of one. One room is just too cramped for an adult cat, a bed, their litter box, and food and water. They forgot to give me back his bag of cat treats but I didn't bother going back. Be sure to check that all your pet's belongings are in their bag before you leave. Overall, I do like this pet boarding. The staff is nice and they told me Gatsby liked the staff, that he was fun to play with. Pricing is also way less expensive than other boarding facilities. read more

We have been going here for sometime now. We moved over from another vet in Vista that we did not like. Shadowridge Vet was a breath of fresh air. Friendly staff, good service, pet boarding and it's SOOOO close to us. That was several years ago. Fast forward to now ..after they moved to their new location. Things have been going down hill. One of their staff members/techs is really rude or just has that rude demeanor. Their schedule is so overbooked that you become just a number to them. They are not friendly anymore, you get put on hold for 30+ mins just to see if your pet is ready to pickup, etc etc. Maybe they are trying to increase rev to pay for their new facility.... I dunno. Their grooming service is bad enough to be classified unethical, and reflects poorly on the practice as a whole. After one horrid incident with a groomer who was obviously grossly incompetent this past summer, we were assured there was a new groomer who was good, so we decided to try their services again (for more than $200, both our dogs were to be bathed, brushed, and dried--it was not a full groom--no special services added). Still, the dogs were kept eight hours, and when we picked them up, they were neither dry, nor brushed out--they were wet, so I'm assuming they were at least bathed. While my husband has been with Jenny Schiebert for his dogs for 23 years, he is finally done. He has paid the business almost $3,000 in the past two months alone, and is so disappointed in the customer service that he is finally ready to move on. The practice has clearly adopted a business model that no longer makes good animal care and customer service a priority. After my husband's dog had his recent procedure, no one followed up with a call, as was once their practice. It is a shame to witness such a sad decline. read more

So, so, SO disappointed. We've been bringing our pets to Shadowridge Vet for over a decade. When we go out of town, we use their Creature Comforts Pet Hotel for boarding. That all ended this morning. 3 of our pets boarded for 6 days. We are always told-and usually assume there's follow through- that our pets are well taken care of. They're fed, hydrated, played with...everything you would do at home. We missed them tremendously, so I called ahead to pick them up as soon as I could. They hadn't gotten their "going home bath" which is complimentary depending on length of stay. I always thought this was such a nice service-but it turns out, that's done to wash away the urine and feces that your pet has been laying in. When my dogs came out, they reeked of urine. My bulldog had what appeared to be a double eye infection-green goop was so thick that he Couldn't see. I immediately said something, and one of the techs sent the other to grab gauze so she could clean the "eye boogers" from His eyes. I don't know how they didn't see this, except that they hadn't checked on him, nor did they care to. Absolutely NOT OK. I placed our cat in his carrier in the back, and loaded both dogs up in the car. This is when I noticed the fecal matter on our cocker spaniels ears. This had to be a joke. We live less than 2 miles away-On our way home, one of my dogs defecated in the car. Once home, the same dog had constant diarrhea for the rest of the morning. I called to see what in the world happened- to see why my dogs seemed neglected-while the person in charge seemed to understand, that just simply isn't enough. She offered to have our dogs back in for their baths, but why would I take them somewhere that didn't care the last several days? I just received another call from someone who was again apologizing-she said she talked to the staff and let them know it wasn't ok- I just can't help but feel that they're just upset that they got caught dropping the ball. I refuse to bring our babies back here-for their health care or their boarding. This is the end of our relationship, and I feel betrayed, disappointed, and so sad that my animals had to stay there for so long. 0/10 would NOT recommend. read more

We boarded our cat there for a week in July 2023. The staff were nice, but busy so not very warm and friendly like I get at our regular vet (Aloha Animal Hospital is the best, but they don't offer boarding services). Shadowridge was affordable and I believe my cat was in good hands, but I don't think there was any extra love and care. When I picked my cat up at the end of the week, he wasn't his normal social self until we got home again, so I don't think he was very comfortable there. Also, they didn't tell me up front that they require an exam before every boarding visit, and then they said they'd waive it because my cat was recently seen at our own vet, but then they did the exam anyway. Just didn't seem like the left hand knew what the right hand was doing at this place. read more

My dog, River, was under your care for a caudectomy . When we took him home after surgery we were unable to provide the care he required. We opted for your medical boarding that was offered and his recovery was miraculous . Your teamwork and dedication to our beloved pet is awesome. You not only reassure the pets but you kept open lines of communication with family members. He is a different dog in so many ways; he is not exhibiting any discomfort or pain and his bowel movements have improved tremendously. The prices are so much higher than other hospitals in the area. I have compared and they're 25 - 30 percent higher than their competitors in the area. If they need follow up visits, they aren't discounted. It's not a clean, sanitized practice. Their personnel do not seem to be glad to be there and that's not the atmosphere I want for my pets. They were supposedly walking the boarded animals but I failed to see a safe grassy area. I treasure my pets and do not want them in this kind of environment. read more

I've brought my kitties to Shadowridge for veterinary and boarding purposes for over a year now and have had nothing but good experiences so far. The staff is super friendly and helpful and my kitties have been well cared for at each visit. The vet is excellent and helped us get rid of fleas once and for all, which is no small feat. They also have great rates for boarding; I think it was $25 a day for my two cats. I really appreciate how safe they are being during the pandemic, one of the veterinary assistants escorts the pets in and out of the office while the owner waits in the car, resulting a safe, no-contact experience. The same goes for medications; they have a curbside pickup system. Another aspect of care I appreciate is that they're accessible by phone and the assistants don't hesitate to ask the veterinarian if they don't know the answer to a question. They have flexible hours, including Saturdays, which is a relief to any busy pet owner. I've been bringing my german shepherd since he was 3 months old his vet takes great care of him the only issue is the grooming services I know he's a big dog and he's hard to handle but These last 2 times his showering and grooming have been horrible I called and I spoke to the receptionist cause on 9/27I took him to get a shower and nail trimming etc etc when I got home he looked the same didn't look like they did anything so the receptionist told me that he didn't allow them to do anything last time I'm like ok well then why did you guys charge me that changed the direction of everything she told me to drop him off today 9/28 they were gonna redo everything I dropped him off at 8 it's not almost 4 and they kept telling me he was next he was next they had him waiting all day for a mistake and they had. I take my pooch here for vet and boarding. He is my lil' BFF and the one of sweetest souls I've ever known so he deserves the best! The staff and vets I've met here are very kind, compassionate and helpful. I hate to board him from time to time but hay mama needs a vacation and I always have peace of mind while I'm away that he is being well taken care of. They have a nice big play yard and spacious kennels. My old vet had cage boarding..I didn't like that.. He needs to stretch his legs. They even give a complimentary bath after so many days of boarding. He has been pretty healthy and has only had a few check ups outside of his vaccinations and I've always felt they've treated me fair and not tried to recommend a lot of upsell services as some other places have in the past. This vet previously had 2 locations. I only went to the San Marcos location until they closed. I was a customer for 5+ years. I will never go back. I love Dr. Lisa, but Dr. Jenny has always been rude. Today I went to drop off my 3 dogs for a bath. I was told as I wanted in the parking lot that they all needed exams & vaccines to get a bath. I was not told this when I made the appointment. My dogs hate the car and I need to medicate them to try and calm them down. Getting them there is an ordeal that requires 3 people to help. I was so upset that I was not told before hand that I needed to spend $500 to get my dogs a bath! I actually cried in my car out of frustration with this situation. I am being charged 57.00 per dog for an exam that includes nothing but walking through the door. They are not sick and don't need an exam. Needless to say, I will NOT be going back. They are a total rip off and clearly jacked up the price while all my dogs were hyperventilating in the car! Shame on you Shadowridge vet!!!!!!!!! read more

We have faithfully made use of the veterinary services at Shadowridge for our Shih Tzu for several years now and have been satisfied. We made the horrible error in judgement and assumed the boarding services would be delivered with the same professionalism. We could not have been more wrong. We just picked Gizmo up and both my wife and I feel so guilty about leaving him there for the weekend. Although not a dog who typically barks, we hear a rasp in his throat which leads us to believe he has spent the last two days barking for help. The contract promised a bath for Gizmo but by the fact that he smelled of urine, not only did he likely not receive that bath, he was probably locked in a cage for the two days where he had no choice but to lay in his own pee. Finally, our dog is a very dainty eater but we just witnessed him wolf down a bowl of food and water. Seems to me that they missed out on just about everything promised. Don't let the clean and organized look of the factility fool you. I would not recommend them to anybody. read more

DON'T GET YOUR PET GROOMED HERE! My pet has been coming here for about 10 months. Everyone was friendly and I've never had any issues with the Vets themselves at all (prior to this situation). In addition to my dog seeing the Vets here, she has also gotten groomed here since her first ever grooming. Shane (the groomer) is a nice guy and seems to really love the dogs; however, I ran into a MAJOR issue last Friday. My dog had an appointment at 10 am and then at about 10:45 I left her for her to get groomed with Shane. About an hour and half after leaving my dog, I called back to ask them to give me an hour notice of when to pick up my dog since they usually give 20 minutes and I live about 40 minutes away. The lady at the front desk, Barbara, said, "hold on just a minute, I will go ask the groomer what time for you to pick her up." Barbara came back to the phone and told me that Shane said, "pick her up anytime between 5 & 6" and then Barbara said, "so anytime after 5 will be fine." BTW, they close at 6. As much as I dislike my dog being there all day, it was no problem because I had to pack for a cross country trip that my dog and I were taking the next day. I show up to pick up my dog at 5:20. Barbara then calls Shane to tell him I'm there. Shane then comes out and says, "I'm so sorry, I was just about to call you. I haven't even started grooming her yet. She peed and pooped all over herself and I had to give her another bath. I actually like her current length, so I wouldn't even have her cut, honestly. Do you still want her groomed?" During this speech, I'm literally just staring at him. I then explain to him that I will be in NC for a month with my dog, so yes, I want her groomed. He said, "Okay, well it'll take me about an hour. Maybe you can go shopping or go to dinner?" I said, "no, I need to be at home finishing packing. I don't have time for that. I was told to be here between 5 & 6." He then says he'll hurry and leaves to cut the dog. Then Barbara tries to ring me up (I had already paid for the vet visit and grooming that morning before I left...HUGE mistake). I then very nicely told Barbara that this grooming needed to be refunded for me. My dog is VERY well trained and if she peed and pooped on herself, she was NOT taken out and not taken care of like they claim they do for dogs getting groomed. Also, let's keep in mind they do boarding here...that really makes me worry. **Please note, the next day on my dog's plane trip, she was in a crate for over 12 hours and didn't have any accidents...something went awry at the Vet's office.** Barbara then said that it would have to be approved by Dr. Schiebert (the owner of the office). I said, "okay, then please go call her. This is the second time that my dog has been pushed to last getting groomed and no one offered to do anything last time, so something needs to be done." Barbara leaves to get Dr. Schiebert on the phone, who conveniently spoke to the groomer, Barbara, and the nurse, but not me. She refused to do anything but give me a $10 credit on my account because she said that I was told to come between 5 & 6. Now, I'm assuming this lady is intelligent seeing as though she's a Veterinarian; however, last time I checked, 5:20 IS between 5 & 6. Not sure what kind of math she's into. After my dog has been put through hell (peeing and pooping on herself) and will be on a cross country flight the next day with checked luggage, I'm pretty upset. How would this Vet react if a groomer or Vet's office had done this to HER dogs? What this showed me is that Dr. Shiebert is nothing more than a money hungry Veterinarian who clearly puts the well-being of pets behind her love of cash. Knowing I could get no further, and doing a STELLAR job of maintaining my composure, Barbara then begins the process of giving me my HUGE $10 credit for the catastrophe that was their fault. She couldn't figure out how to do it, but told me the office manager would be in the next day and Barbara would personally call me to let me know it had been done. It is now 1 week later, and they have yet to give me the credit and I never got a phone call. I called on Tuesday and they told me they would have it done and call me to verify...shocker, but no call! I just called again today and was told (by Barbara) "I don't know anything about this, but I will talk to Dr. Schiebert because she has to approve it." Barbara is an older lady who is as nice as she can be, but is not the right fit to be working the front desk. I'm not sure if it is forgetfulness or dishonesty, but it wrecks the customer service when you have someone like that handling things they can't handle. This experience has proven to me that Dr. Shiebert does not care about the animals or customer service, but is solely concerned about money. This is additionally proven by the fact that the office is severely understaffed. I always wondered why until I realized that the owner is clearly greedy. BTW, I didn't leave until 6:28pm.
