I was pleased with both the Arlington and Falls Church SGF locations. Appointments generally ran on time and the staff from the front door to the examination room were welcoming, thorough, patient and supportive. My husband and I met with Dr. Nair in 2020 for a consultation after experiencing two losses. She did a wonderful job explaining our options and was on board with whatever we were comfortable pursuing, which was IUI. At each visit, whether it was a doctor or PA, I felt comfortable asking questions and almost always received an explanation as to what was going on. My one "complaint" would be having access to my personal information via the portal more regularly. I usually had to quickly write down what info was being shared because I wouldn't see it again. I was very fortunate to be assigned two spectacular nurses who responded to my questions, fears, and requests within 30 minutes...sometimes even less! They were so kind and if they didn't know the answer to something, they would ask Dr. Nair who quickly provided an answer. Like others, my experience at SGF was troubling (to say the least). At no point in the diagnosis or treatment process at SGF did I feel like anything other than a dollar sign and I wish I had left sooner. I did eventually leave SGF to work with a newer, smaller fertility clinic in the area. The doctors there listened to my concerns and offered me a customized treatment plan. I got pregnant with minimal intervention (essentially just medication), and welcomed my twin girls in December. But, back to SGF. I struggled with unexplained infertility and not once did I feel as though the doctors there were actually interested in figuring out why I struggling to conceive so they could treat the problem, but, rather, they were interested in making money -- pushing me to immediately pursue IVF instead of starting with less invasive, costly options. I tried, several times, to ask questions and share concerns with my doctor, but they fell on deaf ears. The doctors here are not actually interested in diagnosing and treating medical issues, they are interested in making money. At one point, I even felt as though the doctor was explicitly chastising me for not opting into the most expensive treatments. With lots of options in the DMV, I'd look for a clinic that makes you feel comfortable and heard and, for me, that was not SGF. (Side note: as others have mentioned, their billing team is AWFUL. I would have been willing to look past it if the physicians had been worthwhile, but it was just another reason to leave.) read more

I should have done more research and spoken to more people who looked like me, who had been through what my husband and I have. The past 10 months have disappointing overall. Just go somewhere else. I'd rather drive farther, heck, I'm happy to pay more as long as the goal post doesn't keep moving. I had a disappointing experience with SGF during my egg freezing treatment for several key reasons: 1) I had a high number of follicles (as I understand correlate to the number of eggs), but only 1/3 of the expected eggs were extracted. When I asked Dr. Reh about the low count, she mentioned a flushing procedure could be used next time. This left me wondering why this wasn't done the first time? This is a very expensive procedure both financially and timewise. It felt like SGF were more interested in having me come back and spend more money rather than extracting the highest possible number of eggs. 2) I experienced a serious HIPAA violation not once, but twice! My ex partner was sent my medical records, therefore I had to tell him I was undergoing this procedure. Second, I was sent another patient's personal information (including her name, age, and treatment). When I reported it to the office manager, I was assured the legal team and IT department would look into whether my own information had been mistakenly shared. It's been 3 months, and I've received no follow-up, leaving me concerned about the clinic's professionalism and data security. 3) The clinic's lack of communication was frustrating. They told me to buy a large quantity of medications, which led to me having $600 worth of unused drugs. This was just 1 of several instances. Given these issues, I will NOT be returning to SGF for any future treatments and recommend others avoid this clinic! Take your money elsewhere. This is one of the worst clinics I have ever interacted with in my life. You will never get a call back. They will never admit a problem when they bill you incorrectly. They mis-billed us for something. I pointed out where their error was. We already were CLEARED and started our cycle, but now cannot finish because they are saying we owe them more money incorrectly and I can NEVER talk to a person that will call me back to fix this. Infertility is stressful and the billing department at Shady Grove makes it even more stressful. We planned on returning for another attempt of getting healthy embryos but the stress from billing led to our decision not to. Despite having 90/10 coverage and an $11,000 deposit we still are receiving invoices for services covered by insurance. Quality of care was ok. I believe the clinic is more for younger women who are able to pump out the healthy eggs. read more

This is just a business and no one care for you or your health. Also, most insurance providers do not cover fertility they might make it easy to pay small deposit but you will end paying way more. We have our happy, healthy twins as a result of SGF, so the process worked. Dr Reh and nurse Ashley were great to work with. They worked to keep is in the lowest cost options/options insurance would cover as long as possible, and I never had issues scheduling. They have a few offices open 365 days a year, so monitoring can be done on weekends too out in Fairfax or somewhere in MD. Each IUI cycle they slightly modified the protocol, until one worked. It took 5 tries, which is more than some other clinics even want you to try for IUI, but they let me use up my insurance benefits before pushing to IVF, since that would have been out of pocket. I definitely felt it was a little cookie cutter, and the morning monitoring appointments felt like a conveyer belt, but for a large clinic, I think that's expected. If our case had become more complicated, I may have looked at other options, but we luckily had our pregnancy before needing to go that route. They responded very fast to messages on the patient portal (generally same-day), and outside of one annoying minor issue with billing, that area was fine. Front desk staff were generally helpful and friendly, although once we had to speak to a practice manager when we had issues scheduling an appointment. I'd definitely recommend this office, especially if you're going the IUI route. read more

My husband went to this facility after he was referred by my OB. The OB had faxed the referral last week. They said they had the referral in front of them when we scheduled my husband's appointment. Today when my husband was at the appointment, they tried to refuse him service saying they didn't have the referral. They were rude to him and unpleasant. We had my OB's office re-fax it and they were still unpleasant. Very negative experience. Won't be back. read more

Just another thing that is really frustrating about working with this facility is that there's nowhere on their website that you can check your current balance for what you owe. They send me monthly invoices with different amounts showing as due for the same dates, with little explanation. I wish I could just log into the website and see a transaction history of what I've been charged and what I've paid, or at least what I actually currently owe, but that does not seem to exist. read more

My husband and I met each other in 2009. We always knew we wanted a family and to start trying before we turned 30. We were both young so I thought having kids wouldn't be an issue. I never thought I'd have trouble at 22 years old. Two years passed and I was still not pregnant. I also gained 50 lbs in a year out of nowhere. I knew something wasn't right and it was time to see a doctor. I got diagnosed with PCOS from my OB/GYN. We decided to seek treatment at Johns Hopkins. We tried six rounds of Clomid with timed intercourse and 1-2 cycles of Femara. All of which were not successful. Discovering Shady Grove Fertility After 6 months, I was still not pregnant, so I decided to look up the nearest fertility center with the highest success rates, which is how I discovered Shady Grove Fertility. I live not even 10 minutes away from the Towson, MD office so I was grateful that we were so close and they have so many convenient locations. I met with my nurse Bernie and Dr. Stephanie Beall, who immediately provided me with a game plan. We decided to try again with some basic treatments before going to IUI. We did six cycles of Clomid, then 6 cycles of Femara, but nothing seemed to work. We did 2 IUIs with Femara, still no success. It was finally time for some more aggressive treatment. Dr. Beall said let's try IVF and I was all for it. The IVF process was hard on the body and mind but if you have a positive attitude you can get through it. My first retrieval I was so nervous and scared but I knew that I had come this far and needed to go through with it. The injections weren't too hard but I never thought I'd have to take so many! Eventually I got used to it, and my husband even gave me my progesterone injections every night. Our first IVF cycle, I got the news that only one embryo made it to day 5 blastocyst. We transferred the embryo, but unfortunately, it didn't end up implanting. We decided to try again. Dr. Beall reviewed my last cycle and made changes to our next cycle, but we were slightly worried about ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHHS) since the treatment protocol was a little more aggressive. This time, we got the amazing news that we had 35 eggs and 30 fertilized with ICSI. Five days later we found out that we had 10 embryos that made it to day 5 blastocysts. We transferred two embryos on 02/14/2016 and decided to freeze the remaining embryos. The Two Week Wait The two week wait was dreadful. I just kept thinking I'd never get pregnant. Two days before my Beta blood test I took a home pregnancy test. I walked away from it thinking it would be a negative, however, I came back in 5 minutes later and there it was, a big fat positive! We went in for our Beta blood test and it did come back that we were pregnant. I went in for my 4 week ultrasound and saw the heartbeat and we were so incredibly happy. To our surprise, we came back a week later and Dr. Beall goes "there are two sacs and two heart beats, you're having twins!" We couldn't believe we were having twins. I really couldn't believe it. # Our Experience at SGF Our nurse Bernie and everyone at the Towson, MD office gave me so much hope through the entire process. Dr. Beall was so nice and understanding. She never turned me away because I was "too young" to do fertility treatment. She knew I was serious about this and it wasn't a joke and that I wanted a family so badly. She listened to my concerns and my husband's as well. If I needed her she was just an email away, which was amazing. I now have two fraternal boys named Roanen and Matthias. They did come early and stayed a month in the NICU but they're healthy as can be. They're now 6 months and growing like weeds. We love them so much. I would tell future patients please don't ever give up. As soon as you're about to give up something amazing happens. I would tell future patients to go to Shady Grove Fertility because they gave me my miracles. read more

If it was possible to give a zero star review this would be the one and only zero star review I've ever given to an organization in my life. This company is the embodiment of what is predatory and wrong about healthcare in America. I contacted Shady Grove as I was moving from California to Virginia. I had been through a year of fertility treatment (2 years of attempting to conceive). I had been through all baseline testing, infectious diseases testing, genetic testing and several rounds of IUI. All of which, including medical records, was explained and provided before the initial consultation. The first red flag should have been the initial patient consultation. It was virtual and the doctor (Dr Shruti for reference) showed up almost 20 minutes late. She then proceeded to demonstrate a failure to read my chart or any information that was provided in the contact form prior to getting on the call. In the final 3 minutes of the call, I was finally able to explain exactly where I was in my journey and that I wanted to go straight to IVF. Fast forward to completing several hours of paperwork, medical record and required eLearning modules, red flag #2 emerges. I had a phone call with the financial counselor who also demonstrated she had not read my bio and proceeded to spend most of the time explaining to me the cost of every baseline test that I had already completed and did not need to repeat. Only after I got a little rude was I finally given any indication of what the IVF pricing was. Note: Shady Groves IVF pricing model seems designed by a clever consultant to effectively force all patients into the most expensive "unlimited option" (though shockingly that wasn't my complaint). Flag #3 was 2 days later -the patient coordinator ( not the doctor), follows up to schedule an HSG test. For those not familiar the HSG test checks the Fallopian tubes to make sure they're open. Fun fact, IVF bypasses the fallopian tubes and IS the treatment recommendation if they are closed. Because I have already had multiple pregnancies (one successful), it's an expensive and unpleasant procedure, and my previous doctors had explained that if we did IVF, it was not necessary, I declined. Apparently at SGF, declining is not an option. They must get your $1000 to proceed. And when I asked for an explanation from the doctor of why the procedure was medically necessary, they declined to provide that courtesy. Ultimately, this was the final straw... did I really want to go through IVF with a provider who have thus far demonstrated no ability to listen and no desire to provide medical advice? It's a $25,000+ commitment, you'd think you could get more than 10 minutes of a doctors time. But we are not done. Today I received a bill for $230 (on top of the $100 already paid). Apparently this was for that 30 minute virtual call with the doctor during which she turned up 20 minutes late, performed no tests or procedures, read only my own provided medical history DURING the call and effectively recited the Pamphlet from their website. There was no advance notice of this charge when the consult was booked. Honestly, I am an educated professional too and I WISH I could charge $330 for 10 minutes of my time during what is effectively a prospecting call! I give most places the benefit of the doubt and would like to assume this is one bad doctor / experience. But Shady Grove is a corporation, designed and process engineered to maximize profits unfortunately at the expense of emotionally vulnerable, infertile women. read more

I was facing chemo treatment and needing to preserve my eggs prior to treatment. First thing I must say is that this facility will pressure you to start doing unnecessary test as often as they can get you in just to run up your bill. I would caution to not start any testing with them until you are 100% ready to start the process (don't let them pressure you). I went to Shady Grove fertility Fairfax for an HSG procedure, which was required by my insurance company to approve my egg retrieval. I had researched the procedure and watch videos to make sure I understood how the procedure was supposed to go before hand. I understood that it could be a little uncomfortable and cause cramping, but that did not bother me because I have a high threshold for pain. This is a procedure where they insert dye in your fallopian tubes to detect any blockages. The technician and nurse were having the hardest time inserting the catheters with the dye and the next thing I know the dye exploded all on my exposed body. This was very traumatizing. The nurses attempted again but it seemed like they didn't know what they were doing and the pain was horrendous. I couldn't continue with the procedure. Never in any of my research did I see a potential situation like dye exploding all over you mentioned. Fast forward a few weeks later I get a bill for $500, for a half done job for images that were not of good quality to show anything. The experience was so horrible that I gave up on my hope for future egg retrieval, as I had to start my chemo ASAP and didn't have time to start the process all over again somewhere else. I tried to call the SGF Fairfax, VA location to discuss the situation and the manager Stephanie had very little sympathy for my situation and experience. "Nothing she could do" she said bluntly. Well, I will make sure to never recommend anyone to Shady Grove do to their lack of concern and care for their patience experience and well-being during such a challenging time. read more

I received the worst service imaginable from Shady Grove. I made an appointment for a virtual consultation, and when I logged-in the MD was not online. I waited 15 minutes and no one from ShadyGrove appeared. So, emailed and called the office and the associates told me to hold on because the MD was attending to another patient. I found that disrespectful of my time and an example of poor customer service. At minimum, the Shady Grove associates could have given me a specific amount of time to wait and apologized profusely. They could have offered me an appointment on a different day, too. Shortly afterwards another associate responded to my email with the greeting "Hey there...," then she told me to "hang tight." Overall, the behavior of Shady Grove staff was incredibly unprofessional and disrespectful. I decided that if they would dare treat me so poorly before receiving my money, then the quality of service would only go further down hill afterwards. So, I refuse to do business with this company, and I do not recommend that others use Shady Grove services either. read more

This is for Arlington and DC. It's the Comcast of fertility centers. They have a big data advantage and that's it. Many (not all) staff are cold and impatient. I would get wrong dates for appointments and times that I often needed to clarify. I got the wrong medicine dose information TWICE and luckily my intuition kicked in both times and caused me to ask questions and get the right dosage. Going for check ups was a factory experience (unless you go at like 7am) and I was NEVER seen any where near close to on time. After waiting awhile to be seen, I was then rushed through these check ins often with very little explanation of results. They also don't explain much to you or answer questions unless you ask a bunch of times. My personal team put in the bare minimum effort. I don't think it's a good place for WOCs either but I'm not trying to speak for everyone. Avoid Dr. Moon in DC. Dr. Reh in Arlington is nice but, but again her team provided minimal effort in assistance and even with basic information, in my opinion. Do yourself a favor and check out Kindbody! It's a superior clinic in every way and you'll actually get treated like a human being. read more

The nurses at this location are the worst I've ever worked with and the doctor is impossible to reach, so if you want to feel supported in this process, pick a different clinic. They are rude, lack the ability to communicate amongst themselves, and completely unprofessional. I was contacted by three different nurses about next steps and the results of a blood test, and they all gave me different information and had no idea what was really going on. One of the nurses told me my blood work showed lower than normal levels for three different things so my doctor would call me later that day. Not only did I never hear from the doctor, but when I spoke with the third nurse the next day and requested to speak with any doctor at that point, she refused and said I had to make an appt for the middle of next week, even though I just wanted some clarity on next steps and was told the doctor would call. I understand this is a business but refusing to let patients speak with doctors over the phone AFTER telling them there was something wrong with their blood work is completely ridiculous. read more

I have to say that the best thing about Shady Grove Fertility is that every patient is assigned a nurse. I genuinely don't know how I would have made it through this 2nd process without Alice's guidance. Alice out of the falls church location is an absolute gem. She walked me through how to take every type of medication, and generously answered all my questions via email or phone call. I don't know if I would have been able to get through my 2nd cycle without her help. I'm also so grateful to Dr. Levines out of the Falls church location. I highly recommend his care, he was so patient in explaining the process! I also want to shout out the 2nd round retrieval team : Dr. Connell and nurses Amy, Rachel, CRNA Joy, MA's BRITTANY, Thanh, Tahira and PSR Mitchell. My final shout out goes to Karen R, PSR out of the Columbia location helping out in Annapolis. she and the young lady working with her, gave phenomenal customer service and had the friendliest, and warmest demeanors. I really looked forward to seeing their smiles. Great job ladies!!! I would recommend this company to everyone. Appointments never run on time (30-60 min wait typical), front office staff are not helpful, office is over crowded and not very Covid savvy. Shady grove does get the job done, i had a successful round of ivf for egg freezing but they are far more expensive than other providers AND the service has been the biggest nightmare I am still dealing with over a year later. I was one of the few lucky ones who had this covered by my insurance, I spoke with with shady grover's "financial consultants" and was given the all clear. It was not until I was ordering the drugs, about to start my round when the fertility pharmacy--Freedom Fertility-- was the one who actually broke down the fine print of my insurance coverage. They explained that while my insurance covered up to 20k, the insurance company upcharges the drugs to be 2-3x the cost if you have insurance pay for 100% of the drugs, which would have ended up being the full 20k that my insurance covers for fertility treatment, leaving no room for the ultrasounds, the actual egg retrieval, appointments. The pharmacy explained if i paid for a couple of the drugs myself then that would leave me some room in my insurance allocated budgeted for the rest of the process. Shocking to me after MONTHS of back and forth with Shady grove their "financial consultants" never ever told me about it, it was only the pharmacy who explained that to me. Strike 1. Strike 2: after the procedure the morons at Shady Grove marked my gender as a male instead of a female for the procedure (a procedure that would be physically impossible to do a male?!?!?!) which then led to an entire year of the sending me full bills for the IVF when it was fully covered by insurance. It is a full year later and i am still going back and forth with my insurance company who have finally gotten that sorted out but even though the insurance company as approved and paid the bill. . .shady grove has sent me another bill for the full amount AGAIN. so i'm spending 1 hour a day getting my insurance to call their billing to get it sorted out. All of this makes the fact that the actual process--going in multiple times a week, having to wait for over an hour past my appointment time, being constantly late to to work because they were so bad at staying on schedule--minor in comparison do not go here. read more

I am grateful for our daughter that was conceived by using Shady Grove, however, we had a lot of billing issues along the way that super stressful and due to wrong medical coding, long wait times at the offices and now we find out there is a, "no children allowed" policy in the office? It seem odd for a place that is dedicated to building families doesn't allow families in there office. read more

Completely disorganized office. I was called the day before my initial appointment (which I'd made almost two months in advance because of their lack of availability) that the doctor was "double booked" and that they needed to reschedule me for weeks later. I complained because I was going to be traveling and they somehow managed to get me in with the doctor at my initial time. At my appointment, the doctor basically just asked what questions I had on the videos I was sent. I was not sent any actual videos though and thought the doctor was going to use the appointment to talk me through the process. I spent $200 on a telehealth appointment where I basically had to come up with questions on the fly and then follow up multiple times afterwards asking for the videos I was supposed to have before my appointment. Every follow up appointment has also had a "scheduling error" where the appointment is canceled last minute or I'm supposed to sit on hold waiting for a "phone call" (which would still be charged as an appointment) instead of the in person appointment I made with the doctor. At one point, I was having an active medical issue that was time sensitive regarding whether I should proceed with my treatment and I was told I needed an appointment to talk to the doctor and could not see the doctor for two weeks. They eventually managed to squeeze in a quick phone call with the doctor, but it was pretty rushed. The entire experience felt like going through the McDonalds drive through where you are being rushed through appointments and check ups along with everyone else and receive minimal explanation or information. read more

Everything seems wrong for me from not sending the prescription in to the special pharmacy, pre-authorization was not done timely. This adds more stress to the process which should not have been. Highly unprofessional and marginally cruel front desk staff. I went in to have my eggs retrieved prior to cancer treatment and the girl at the front desk flirted with my husband right in front of me and completely disregarded me! When I made it clear that I was uncomfortable and her conversation was over, she laughed at me! I just had surgery for breast cancer 2 days ago, feeling and looking rough, and she literally gave me a judgmental (eye up and down look) as she chatted it up with my husband! The office manager was kind enough to address my concerns. I sincerely hope she addresses this highly inappropriate behavior. If you are at a sensitive time in your life, maybe avoid the Towson location. read more

I concur with the 3 reviews above. Shady Grove has gotten too large. It feels a bit like a factory. Yes, the inside is very well decorated.... a lovely water wall etc. You feel as though you are going for a spa treatment. Don't worry, you going to pay for it!. There is very little compassion, emotional support or regard for the patients. I have been to 3 ivf centers, this might be the prettiest one, that is where it stops. (I was unable to continue at my previous ivf center due to the type of assistance I needed. I am happy to say that I am now back at my previous ivf clinic and there is now a program that I am a good candidate for!) I came across very few people who could care less about whether you had a good outcome or not. Fast forward a few months. I did get pregnant, but lost the baby at 11 weeks due to a genetic issue. It was some time after when my doctor finally called to see how I was. The only reason my doctor even called was that I had called the office manager to complain that my doctor never called. By then I was so angry. I did appreciate the call, but it was just too late. I also felt as though I was being "sold". Several times I told the financial people that I was not interested in a particular program. And yet they persisted. It felt like a hard desperate sell. Maybe they get bonuses if they sell you on a certain program? I actually had a very heated conversation with the financial person. I hope no one she loves ever has to experience the emotional and financial strain that is ivf. I could go on, but I won't. What I can say, is if you are considering ivf steer clear of Shady Grove. I wouldn't send my dog there to get impregnated. WORST experience ever. 0 stars... but yelp makes you post at least 1. read more

They never keep to appointment times. Keep you there for at least an hour past your appointment time. They don't care that you have to work to pay for the IVF and expect you to be able to sit in their waiting room all day instead of going to work. read more

The front desk people here are great, but the head nurse, who happened to be assigned to me was horrible. She flew through her spiel without providing any useful information and talked so fast you could barely understand her. She promised to provide the ultrasound report to me over a week ago and hasn't done it. I told both her and the doctor that I will be traveling early Oct. and would like to get in a cycle before then if possible (this was late July/early Aug). I stopped my birth control (BC) immediately after the consult so I could get the bloodwork and ultrasound done. I checked the patient portal daily for the results, finally emailing them to check on status. They apparently had the results - they just don't upload them to the patient portal. What's the use of asking your patients to use the portal if the only thing they use it for is messaging? Also, don't you think you should let your patients know that? A friend who has undergone this process had to tell me that her DC office told her suppression BC has to be started by the 4th day, but no one bothered to mention this to me even though I came in twice and told them twice I would like to start ASAP. Upon asking, the head nurse told me I could start on the 5th day - why is there conflicting info from different SGF offices? I read about lowered egg counts when starting immediately after stopping BC. She told me it was fine to start. I went to another fertility office who confirmed that observation and recommended I wait at least a cycle (BC-free) before starting. I messaged the SGF portal last week to ask if I am still able to fit in a cycle before leaving in Oct - that was Fri. It's now Wed and still have not heard back from anyone yet. How is this acceptable for an extremely time-sensitive procedure? I understand that your model depends on volume of patients and thus you run like a factory, but you can run as a well-run factory. Your office, for the most part, does the same thing every day - it shouldn't be this difficult to standardize and provide prompt and consistent information. This is an emotionally tolling, very expensive, and time-consuming procedure for patients. For egg freezing alone with meds, most people spend well over $20k. They deserve better than this. read more

Secondary Infertility Sufferer- Experience at Shady Grove Towson was awful. Doctor was all talk and the nurse navigator was a total hack. No compassion. No actual concern for my individual struggle. What they were interested in were tests and making money. I felt like they were pushing time shares instead trying to find out a cause for my infertility. I went through evasive tests and received a shrug and another push to do IVF. They are selling IVF. Sell. Sell. Sell. I didn't buy it! Then they stalked me for months afterward. I wish those who have the means and stamina for IVF the best. But for those of us who are sent to "Shady Grove" for answers, beware. read more

Horrible. Administratively disastrous and medically ineffective. Spare yourself the agony we endured and take your business elsewhere.

My review is not based on an outcome, as I haven't made it that far to have one yet. However, I feel like just a number to this office. All the invasive testing, repeated blood work and just emotional toll - My Dr. has been very nonchalant throughout my entire experience at Shady Grove. He has a script in his head which is on repeat. He does not seem to be familiar with alternative medicine, treatments or hope for the possibility. During this sensitive time, where you come to a center such as this for hope - my preference would have been to have an optimistic provider even if chances are slim. Although I appreciate the candidness, I also believe there is value in taking alternative measures when you can. I was told after my first round of blood work that my FSH levels would never improve due to my age. Yet they did. I was told that scar tissue resulting from a prior surgery (recommended by Shady Grove) could only be removed with yet another surgery. Yet, through fertility specific massage it is breaking up. I believe there is still a chance for me. In the beginning IFV was recommended, we understood all that had to happen, the success rates and were still willing to try. I was asked, 'what do you want to do' ... I had to ask to be tested again. The nurse at a point I felt when I would reach out for questions that she did not want to be bothered by me. During this last visit, I had a different nurse who was very friendly. Other staff members have been pleasant as well when I would get the various tests done over the past year and a half. Even though my records were in front of the Dr., he didn't have any recollection of the prior visits, just chose to recap on what was wrong instead of what was right or the progress made. I am glad others have had success with this center, unfortunately this last visit left me feeling that I will need to go elsewhere. Regardless of the outcome, it has been a difficult time, it would have been nice to have felt supported. read more

The positives: Dr. Beall and Dr. Nguyen are amazing. Dr. was my last Dr. at shady grove, she completed my second egg retrieval. We was so comfortable with her that when we decided to our first doctor, Dr. McClamrock we opted to see Dr. Beall for our care. She is passionate about her job and she treats her patients with respect. Dr. Nguyen completed two of our transfers. The first one was somber because our doctor at the time Dr. McClamrock told us that the egg wasn't going to make it but made us do the transfer anyway. Even with going in knowing that the eggs wasn't going to make it. Dr. Nguyen made us comfortable and gave us hope that there was a chance. I would recommend the both of them The negative: My experience at the Harbor office is what made me lose any faith I had in Shady Grove Fertility. From the receptionist telling us that we wasn't covered by insurance because we was a same sex couple (which was the incorrect information), to her not scheduling us for the injection class which lead to injecting with the wrong needles, to Dr. McClamrock completely degrading us because our eggs unfertilized and so on. We was left feeling as though we was just another number instead of a patient. We felt like that office was more concerned about our insurance premium instead of our treatment. Dr. McClamrock is not talkative, therefore if you have questions you will not get an answer unless you call different locations. The Towson location has had its share of mistakes to. We have never received an explanation of treatment from Shady Grove. All we received was an excuse that it's a "simple mistake" Shady Grove fertility and their staff don't understand that the mountain of mistakes that has happen to me as a patient caused me a lot of stress. I can't tell you not to choose Shady Grove, I know quite a few people who have chosen Shady Grove and no matter the outcome they still would recommend them. If I had to do it over again, I would but I would not go to any of the Baltimore locations. read more

My daughter and her husband have been on an emotional roller-coaster going through IVF, and utilizing a surrogate to carry their baby. Yes, for Shady Grove this is all about the business and making money. However, they need to take into consideration the mental and emotional strain of their patience. They are not good with keeping the biological parents up-to-date after IVF. When IVF fails, they want more $$$. It seems to be all about $$$, and helping patients is a distant second! read more

I started at Hopkins and had an awful experience there with 3 failed IVF attempts. They recommended donor eggs. They had techs giving medical advice over the phone, they instructed me to take wrong dosages of medications, etc. They were the worst ever. I went to Shady Grove, was able to use my own eggs, & had a successful pregnancy after 2 IVF attempts, had a successful FET pregnancy, and then had a miscarriage after the next FET. I was shocked when Dr. Katz called me himself to console me. I told them that I wanted to wait to decide if I wanted to try again, and they understood. Shady Grove is the reason why I have a family, and I couldn't be more grateful to them. read more
