Best sandwich menu in the Burgh
    Stuart H.

Our main stop in Shadyside.. honestly our main stop when we are leaving downtown and hungry before we get to Monroeville. They have the BEST sandwiches and pizzas! We used to live closer and go more often, but still the vibe, the menu, the staff, the price... everything is worth it. The restaurant has two levels. Downstairs is always busy and fun with a bar centered in the space and multiple tvs around the dining area. Upstairs is much more chill usually... and also where the bathrooms are. The staff is phenomenal. You are always immediately greeted by the nicest hostesses.. and if there is ever a wait, you can give your phone number and then go peruse Walnut Street shops! The waitresses/waiters/bartenders are all very chill and nice to talk to. Great suggestions, if you can't decide.. and trust me.. you'll want to try everything and have a tough time deciding. I can't even type as good as this place is. Pinnacle spot of Shadyside. Open late into the evening. Just go!

Want a place to go that makes you feel like you have to go back as soon as you leave...Well, do we have a place for you. A diner feel, with some Shadyside flare and a modern vibe. The food is unique and flavorful and robust. Specials, Service and comfort can barely describe the inside. Don't be afraid to sit at the bar and eat as those servers are friendly, helpful and attentive. Oh! Did I say the BEER is cold and ready... Get them wings, grab them burgers and Sandwhiches and in the end, take a chance to make this place you new go to....You wont be sorry...

Shady Grove will always be one of my favorite spots in Shadyside. Two floor bar restaurant with outdoor seating for warmer months. Tried the summer salad once and always come back and order it. Loaded with toppings and the dressing compliments it very well. They have good fries and great ranch. Service can be hit or miss, dependent on the day in my experience!

Delicious, American food in the heart of Shadyside. Perfect for brunch/lunch!! We ordered the Shazam Cauliflower bites, which were flavorful, crisp and covered in a sweet and savory sauce. The cauliflower was tender and not too soft. Much better than if it were chicken! I ordered the swiss and mushroom burger on a gluten free bun with a garlic aioli. The gluten free bun was soft and covered in everything but the bagel seasoning! Very flavorful. There is plenty of seating in the restaurant. But my friend and I were seated upstairs on an off hour, and I felt like the waitstaff and kitchen took forever to fill our order. What seemed to be a simple late lunch ended up being a 2 hour event. Parking can be tough bc the streets are often packed with cars. tldr; food 3.5/5 service 3/5 Ambiance 3.5/5

This was just a quick little lunch stop with my mom (clearly not small portions tho lol) and those sandwiches we had were amazing. Had no issues with service and like the one picture, the ambiance is so cute and fun! Definitely stop by for a bite to eat and you won't be disappointed!

Went for lunch with my friend. We both hadn't been in years. The buffalo chicken dip was good. I got the chipotle bbq bacon burger and it was good but if I was to get it again I would do without the slaw it made the bun soggy and I just didn't like the taste of it. My friend got the chicken club in a wrap. The service was a little slow. The waitress was very nice. But our food took forever to come out.

Not a bad place to grab brunch/lunch in Pittsburgh! I got the vegan portobello cheesesteak which was delicious but I recommend getting a side of spicy mayo to add a little extra flavor and spice!

Im obsessed with this place. My friend and I came here for dinner and since the weather has been nice we sat up on the balcony. The food is always on point and so is the service. This time I tried something different and I was not disappointed! It doesn't matter what you get, it will always be delicious. I got the chipotle bbq chicken sandwich which was awesome. The chicken was nice and juicy. The truffle fries and the sweet potato tots are awesome. I love the tots with the chipotle ranch. So good!! Oh and their French onion soup!!! You have to try that if you ever stop in.

My friend and I went here last night to catch up since it's been awhile. I found it on here and then she mentioned shes been a couple times. We got seated a couple minutes after arriving which was a relief because we were both starving. We shared the buffalo chicken dip and it was delicious. I got the french onion soup, it was pretty good. It had the RIGHT amount of cheese which is always a delight. Then I got their vegan portobello mushroom tacos. Grilled portobello, pico de gallo, crispy grilled portobello, pico de gallo, crispy onions, vegan cheddar, avocado and cilantro serrano sauce. I LOOOoooOved their cilantro serrano sauce. I also got a taste of their sweet potato and they were delicious too. Would love to try to eat here in the summer to eat on their deck.

If i'm having a girls night, chances are you'll find us at Shady Grove. In the heart of shadyside, Shady Grove offers GOUD eats, GOUD drinks, and a GOUD time. @sie.coons ordered the peppers and listen, peppers are never something I think to order on a menu but these were GOUD. Salty, sweet and there was a lot of them. Definitely a good app to start. Same thing can be said about the buff chick dip. Super flavorful without being too hot. The thick layer of cheese over the top the dip had my French onion soup shaking in its boots. A classic FOS hit the spot for me. Cheese to soup ratio right on point. A GOUD hearty soup. Sierras burger looked delicious and I snuck a few fries bc they are my favorite beer battered crispy fries. It was so GOUD to be with my favorites and we left with our tummies and hearts full. #GOUDapproved from us. Blistered Shishito Peppers With Asian sea salt, Shazam sauce and fresh lime. $10 Buffalo Chicken Dip Chicken, buffalo sauce and cheese. Served with tortilla chips or pita. $11 French Onion $6 Cheese Burger * Cooked to order angus prime burger, choice of cheese, served with l/t/o/p $15

They turned the volume of the music lower and even adjusted the heat as it was just the two of us back there the waitress was still very attentive and helpful although she could have easily forgot about us. I was sold on the chai apple martini, even though I was hesitant because it felt more like a Christmas drink and it was February, but it was delicious and I got another one. I ordered the pork chop medium well the sauce was delicious. However, the pork chop was dry. I still ate the whole thing because the sauce and everything accompanying it was amazing. My friend ordered the pesto pasta, which I tried. I really enjoyed it too, especially the Barrata. his steak was also ordered medium well and was drier than my pork chop. I couldn't eat it, but luckily it was not my meal. He did didn't seem to mind too much. The vibes were high all night, even though we were in the back partly because of the waitress, but mostly because of what seemed to be almost a Rihanna only playlist lol

We were staying Shadyside, and therefore looking for something nearby. Urban Tap received really good reviews, so we made a reservation, a few weeks ahead. We proceeded to place our drink orders, a combination of cocktails and cocktails. I ordered the Peach Hugo Spritz, which was very tasty. We also ordered the breakfast egg rolls, as an appetizer for the table, along with our entrees orders. BLT, chicken and waffles, crab cake Benedict, and I ordered the Cajan avocado Benedict. Also the menu was very kid-friendly. We ordered a side of waffles and fruit for my 4 year old granddaughter. The egg rolls arrived in a timely manner. Options include with or without bacon. We ordered without bacon, and requested turkey bacon on the side (I don't eat pork or beef, so its nice when there is an alternative option). The egg rolls were expertly prepared, coated in everything bagel seasoning, filled with just the right amount of eggs, peppers and onions, accompanied by a Sriracha maple syrup dipping sauce. 3 to an order, we cut each roll into 3 pieces, which was perfect to share. Our entrees arrived a short time later, huge portions, expertly prepared and great presentation. My Cajun Shrimp Benedict was delicious. Plump shrimp, Cajun hollandaise, smashed avocado, sliced tomato, microgreens, and a perfectly poached egg, on top of a fluffy English muffin, accompanied my redskins potato wedges. There were a lots of elements, but the flavors married perfectly. The sentiment around the table was unanimous. All around, and excellent choice, but best of all service, was outstanding! Shout out to Brooke for the warm welcome, and excellent service. Highly recommend, I would absolutely return!

Both of my grandmothers were your typical Hispanic women who made the best Mexican food I had growing up. Living in Pittsburgh, most Mexican restaurants I have visited usually miss the mark and I typically never return. Not with Buenatarde! I usually avoid eating at Mexican restaurants in Pittsburgh, as I'm always disappointed with the quality of the food. Most restaurants seem to use premade ingredients, which is insane cause Mexican food cooked fresh is usually not that hard or expensive. Not with buenatarde, everything we ordered was made in house. The refried beans and rice tasted almost as good as my grandmothers use to cook. Not quite, but close! The carnitas tasted really good, the only issue we had was it was a tad dry. There is a hard start time as the tasting menu is done in a large group setting-serving everyone at once. So, we found ourselves wandering around the neighborhood and then standing in front of the door waiting for 6pm to strike, I felt like a creep. The area itself is an open floor plan so when they welcome you in, it's confusing to see the table we will be seated around but also see little stations for the canapés. Little awkward. We found a two-seater, and as a plus size woman I felt a bit cramped. My husband and I are both tall (5'11" and 6'3" so we were both fighting over who got the bench seat vs the little stool. There's always that awkwardness when you're looking around trying to figure out what the heck is about to happen and wondering..when is it time to EAT. We did 3 or 4 canapés which were all enjoyable-one that stands out to me had goat cheese and beets-yum! We are asked to take our seats at the large table and ...awkward again bc we are just kind of all looking around waiting. I have a sensitivity to alcohol so I did the N.A. pairing and I didn't feel like I missed out on much. The sommelier did a great job at explaining the notes and why each pairing happened. I really enjoyed the tasting menu. The chef kept us abreast of what we were trying and looped in other accompanying staff which gave us some of their backstory which was nice. I love that the restaurant has an urban garden and tries to reduce waste-that's so important. Minus 1 star because of the clunkiness of the bench area vs the large table where we ate and the cost. $275/pp plus tip isn't something that many can swing in a blue collar city.
