Last night we did an escape room with some friends and decided to grab apps and drinks afterward. We arrived at 8:20 and the kitchen was closing at 8:30. I was really looking forward to trying Shorty's at the Waterfront, but unfortunately our experience was extremely disappointing. We were visiting from California and were excited to eat here, so we had a few questions about the menu. The Black female employee who helped us was very short and rude when answering our questions, making us feel like we were inconveniencing her simply for asking. To make matters worse, the cups we were given were dirty. When we politely asked for the tab because we no longer felt comfortable staying, she responded by saying, "It's cool, you all can just leave." That level of customer service was shocking. Earlier, she had also rudely asked our group if we could move to another area of the restaurant because they had a large party coming in. We were happy to accommodate the request, but the way it was communicated came across as dismissive and disrespectful. I understand everyone has difficult days, and I always try to give people grace. Throughout the entire interaction, our group remained polite and respectful. We simply wanted to enjoy a good meal while visiting from out of town. I'm genuinely disappointed because we went out of our way to come here based on its reputation, only to leave feeling unwelcome. I used to really enjoy Shorty's, however a recent trip here when craving tacos proved disappointing. The taco options are almost all entirely gone except for one choice on the entire menu. The server was really nice and our drinks were really good, I got some sort of lavender gin beverage that was delicious, but the food was lackluster. I ordered the nachos while my partner ordered the one taco option. The tacos were still good, but the nachos were cold and unfortunately underwhelming. We were going to see a special showing of the movie at the AMC theater, and we stopped into Shorty for happy hour prior to our movie. We sat at the bar and we each had two beers, onion rings, sliders, and fried pickles. Our bartender was efficient and asked us if we needed another beverage when our glass was empty. The food was fine for bar food and the price was good for a happy hour. They had a cute fire pit out front Adirondack chairs, it was a chilly day in December. And they had some cool inflatable holiday decorations outside for Christmas and the entire interior was decorated for Christmas as well. so if I were in the area again, I would definitely stop and sit at the bar again for happy hour. read more

Stopped in on a Saturday night around 830pm after a show at the improv theater. It was much less busy than expected. The service was swift, but beware, even thought it says they are a taco joint everywhere--they aren't anymore and just didn't bother to rebrand, change signs or even the servers shirts lol. We got the 1 taco dish on the menu, which was chicken tinga tacos. They were underwhelming at best. We got a side of ceasar salad instead of fries and it was basically just dressing. Also got the buffalo chicken wings which were pretty good, but a tad overcooked. The atmosphere was a lot of fun since there was playoff football going on. My husband and I had a cute little lunch date here and we had a nice time! The staff were very welcoming and greeted us right away. We were able to seat ourselves, so we chose the bar, because it was a little too hot outside. But, it was nice with the doors open inside the restaurant. We both ordered cokes and then I went with the sliders and he got a chicken sandwich. Both were served hot and in a timely manner and we both agreed that the fries could have been a little better. I never leave reviews. But this was honestly so bad. First of all it seems more of a bar than a food spot. I got mozzarella bites, sliders and fries, and a side of mac n cheese. The mozzarella bites were definitely frozen TGI Fridays mozzarella triangles. The sliders were fine but no salt or pepper on the patties. Fries were literally terrible. No salt on them. Frozen fries but like the worst kind. Mac n cheese was soupy and watery again with literally no flavor at all. No salt even. We came here as a plan B thinking the teens would like the games after eating. The food was okay and the menu limited. While I'm glad it wasn't a crazy large menu it really didn't have much to choose from either. My GF's meal came out with the wrong protein. It took 20+ min to remake it so we were all done when she finally got her food. They had to cook a chicken breast. That's what we were waiting on. Clearly they don't know what on the fly means. They took her order off of the bill but still it didn't feel great about our experience. The food was average bar food. Not bad but not great. Expected it to be busy but only about 6 tables were occupied. Large open building with an industrial feel. The indoor patio was accessed through huge windows that were opened to the ceiling. Neat vibe inside. Restrooms were not the cleanest but won points because of the privacy panel on the stall doors. Floor was sticky and there was toilet paper on the floor in all the stalls. Server was an absolute sweetie and made sure to check on the table multiple times. She was great. Ordered the double smash burger. Came with cheese and bacon in the burger. On the side were red onions, lettuce, tomato and pickles. Ketchup and mustard on the table. The burger was excellent. Cooked to a perfect pink which is hard to do on a thin burger. Nice grill flavor. Brioche bun was firm enough to hold up to a large burger but was soft to the chew. Burger overall was a 10/10. The accompanying fries were a bit of a disappointment. Tasted just like Ore-Ida fries from the grocery store. Only silverware provided was a knife. No fork so the fries became hand food. Lots of napkins given which is a plus for me. The games around the dining room can be kind of distracting at times, especially if you're having a conversation between friends, but it also adds something different that isn't usually seen at a restaurant! Our waiter was super nice, attentive and helpful, he had good recommendations and got everything to us hot and fresh. My party also got the chicken and waffles and the breakfast burrito, they said the waffles were a tad plain, but other than that no complaints. How do you run out of fries when that's the main side your meals come with? And then my man wanted a shot of fireball. They were out of that. We should have took the signs and left then. My friends and I grabbed dinner here before heading over for a movie, and definitely enjoyed our experience! First, they have cocktails on draft - which I wam usually not a huge fan of - however, I tried several (including the marg( and really enjoyed them! I got the "almost bottomless mimosas" where I was able to get up to 4 mimosas and my choice of pineapple, cranberry, and orange juice for a flat price. I ordered the Chicken X Waffles....10/10! The chicken breast was fresh out of the oil, seasoned well, and CRISPY. The waffle was standard, a little crisper than expected, but still has some softness in the middle. The hot honey and bacon crumbles completed this dish!! My hubs could not choose between the cookie butter pancakes and the Dulce de Leche pancakes. But finally chose the latter....I snagged a sample, and it was delicious. The manager went by each table to check on the patrons, and when he came to our table, I knew he was genuine. The steak eggs Benedict was a unique twist to the classic and I enjoyed the flavor. The steak was melt in your mouth which was appetizing. The BLT fries were an interesting twist on loaded fries and I thought they were fine but probably wouldn't order again. I took a bite of the burrito and thought it would be a delicious hangover cure.
