Inside view from bar seating near Christmas time.

We had not been to the waterfront in Homestead for probably six years! We were going to see a special showing of the movie at the AMC theater, and we stopped into Shorty for happy hour prior to our movie. We sat at the bar and we each had two beers, onion rings, sliders, and fried pickles. Our bartender was efficient and asked us if we needed another beverage when our glass was empty. The food was fine for bar food and the price was good for a happy hour. They had a cute fire pit out front Adirondack chairs, it was a chilly day in December. And they had some cool inflatable holiday decorations outside for Christmas and the entire interior was decorated for Christmas as well. so if I were in the area again, I would definitely stop and sit at the bar again for happy hour.

Stopped in on a Saturday night around 830pm after a show at the improv theater. It was much less busy than expected. The service was swift, but beware, even thought it says they are a taco joint everywhere--they aren't anymore and just didn't bother to rebrand, change signs or even the servers shirts lol. We got the 1 taco dish on the menu, which was chicken tinga tacos. They were underwhelming at best. We got a side of ceasar salad instead of fries and it was basically just dressing. Also got the buffalo chicken wings which were pretty good, but a tad overcooked. The atmosphere was a lot of fun since there was playoff football going on. Overall, I'd return for drinks but the food is only alright so stick to an app if you need a bite.

Really nice place to chill with a drink!

Inviting store front, along the beautiful brick walkways of the Waterfront. Awesome fires with comfortable chairs await in their outdoor space. Didn't have food, the wine was good and the bartender's service was outstanding. Definitely will return.

My husband and I had a cute little lunch date here and we had a nice time! The staff were very welcoming and greeted us right away. We were able to seat ourselves, so we chose the bar, because it was a little too hot outside. But, it was nice with the doors open inside the restaurant. We both ordered cokes and then I went with the sliders and he got a chicken sandwich. Both were served hot and in a timely manner and we both agreed that the fries could have been a little better. Overall we had a great afternoon! We could hear karaoke in the back, which is among their fun little activities. Such as a Photo Booth and connect four game. Will definitely be back!

We stopped in for lunch and were greeted right away. There were about 5 tables dining and it was just the bartender that day but she did an amazing job keeping up with the tables spread throughout the restaurant. Our food was very tasty and the drinks were good.

We came here as a plan B thinking the teens would like the games after eating. The food was okay and the menu limited. While I'm glad it wasn't a crazy large menu it really didn't have much to choose from either. My GF's meal came out with the wrong protein. It took 20+ min to remake it so we were all done when she finally got her food. They had to cook a chicken breast. That's what we were waiting on. Clearly they don't know what on the fly means. They took her order off of the bill but still it didn't feel great about our experience. The food was average bar food. Not bad but not great. When the teens were done we were told the arcade games were reserved for a private party so they had 2 pin ball machines (on of which wasn't lit up so it didn't look like it worked) to choose from or get board games from the cage. We left. Probably won't be back

Was in the Waterfront for a movie at AMC Theater. Shorty's was directly across the street so easy for a quick meal before the movie. Arrived at 6pm on a Saturday night. Expected it to be busy but only about 6 tables were occupied. Large open building with an industrial feel. The indoor patio was accessed through huge windows that were opened to the ceiling. Neat vibe inside. Restrooms were not the cleanest but won points because of the privacy panel on the stall doors. Floor was sticky and there was toilet paper on the floor in all the stalls. Server was an absolute sweetie and made sure to check on the table multiple times. She was great. Ordered the double smash burger. Came with cheese and bacon in the burger. On the side were red onions, lettuce, tomato and pickles. Ketchup and mustard on the table. The burger was excellent. Cooked to a perfect pink which is hard to do on a thin burger. Nice grill flavor. Brioche bun was firm enough to hold up to a large burger but was soft to the chew. Burger overall was a 10/10. The accompanying fries were a bit of a disappointment. Tasted just like Ore-Ida fries from the grocery store. Only silverware provided was a knife. No fork so the fries became hand food. Lots of napkins given which is a plus for me. Overall was definitely worth a try. Price is decent compared to other burger places. Small menu but covered the basics like burgers, chicken, fish. Would go back again if in the area.

Looked for a lunch spot near where we were house hunting and found the waterfront and more specifically, Shorty's. What a fun place to play and eat and drink. Sat out on the patio and enjoyed my meal. Service was great and it'd be fun to go back and play all the games.

Shorty's Restaurant - A Masterclass in Culinary Catfishing Let's start with how we ended up here. My wife and her girlfriends had been to Shorty's in the past and remembered it being quirky, fun, and full of creative menu options. So on a last-minute trip into town, we figured -- why not give it a shot? Spoiler alert: what they remembered no longer exists. The menu had been completely nuked under new management and rebuilt with what can only be described as a budget grocery list from a sad middle school cafeteria. Now, before I get into the real meat of this, let me say -- the atmosphere? Decent. Want to sip a basic cocktail, half-watch a sports game, snap a few Photo Booth pics, and play a game or two? It's fine. But this isn't a Yelp review about vibes. This is about food. And folks -- the food was a tragedy. I ordered the Chicken Tinga tacos. Limited options meant I asked the server for a recommendation. He gave me that "I just work here" look and mentioned everything had recently changed -- old menu? Gone. Fan favorites? Erased. What I got felt like chicken dumped in a crockpot with taco seasoning and abandoned on "low" until it begged for mercy. The tortillas? SYSCO-grade and lifeless -- the kind you get 200 to a pack at bulk price. The "salsa" was a confusing blend of avocado and mayonnaise, and the cheese? Not nacho cheese. Not even restaurant-style queso. Just a sprinkle of Sam's Choice shredded cheese, like someone raided the fridge in their parents' basement. My wife ordered the so-called "marinara chicken" -- which sounds inventive until you see it. Three frozen mozzarella sticks tossed across commercial chicken tenders, drowned in acidic tomato paste, and served over fries that looked and tasted like they'd been forgotten under a heat lamp. For $80+ after two extremely average drinks, I expected flavor, maybe even a bit of effort. Instead, 15 minutes later, I found myself in the public restroom experiencing what I can only describe as a surprise gastrointestinal exit interview. One of my buddies ordered the smash burger -- and immediately compared it to a Wendy's burger, but somehow...worse. Overpriced, under-seasoned, and absolutely forgettable. No appetizer. Still full of regret. Another couple we were with tried the nachos. I warned them. But they had hope. What they got was a plate of limp chips with scattered homemade shredded cheese that barely melted -- you know, that kind of half-hearted sprinkle that starts to crisp but doesn't commit. Not a drop of real queso, no pulled meat, and the toppings were tossed on like the cook lost a bet. Let's be honest: everything on this menu could be made at home by a 12-year-old with access to frozen food and a microwave. And that's the real issue -- the food feels like it was engineered for margin, not taste. If you're charging restaurant-level prices: * Use fresh tortillas, not the lifeless, mass-produced kind. * Shred your own cheese. A block of cheddar and 30 seconds with a grater isn't too much to ask. * Make the mozzarella sticks fresh. We are near the price point where that should be the standard, not a luxury. * Start over on the proteins. Every dish tasted like the meat was an afterthought -- no flavor depth, no marinade, no soul. The entire flavor profile across the menu needs to be reimagined. If you're rebuilding from scratch, start with the basics: freshness, balance, and quality. And if you want arcade games and mid-tier cocktails, go to Dave & Buster's down the road. If you want food that doesn't feel like it was born in a SYSCO lab, try Burgatory across the street. They'll at least respect your palate. Until Shorty's decides to respect their ingredients and your wallet, save your time -- and your stomach.

We love going to Shorty's for happy hour. The half price taps and shareables are such a good deal! For two of us, we get three shareables and we leave stuffed. The staff is always friendly and we love to get their recommendations for food options. (Get the wings with jerk seasoning and sauce of choice on the side - chef's kiss!) The games around the dining room can be kind of distracting at times, especially if you're having a conversation between friends, but it also adds something different that isn't usually seen at a restaurant! We hope to try brunch sometime soon!

    Breakfast sandwhich
    Juliana S.

I really liked this place. My family and I came here for breakfast. I had the breakfast sandwhich and it was amazingly light, fluffy and seasoned just right. I liked the sauce on it and the breakfast potatoes that it came with were the same caliber. Our waiter was super nice, attentive and helpful, he had good recommendations and got everything to us hot and fresh. My party also got the chicken and waffles and the breakfast burrito, they said the waffles were a tad plain, but other than that no complaints. They have fooseball, a karaoke booth, darts, and a couple other games you can play. Seems like it would be really fun to go during happy hour and hangout with friends so I'll definitely be back. Definitely a playful vibe to the place, but prefect for any ages.

The available darts, board games, and other activities make this a fun choice for a dinner date. Our server was fantastic, very patient and attentive. That being said, the food is just ok. We ordered the Queso Fundido which is more of a beer cheese than queso. The short rib Mac and cheese is a little bland. Smash burger was ok. I'd pass on the cornbread next time. The waffle fries however, were delicious, perfect crispness. Cocktails reminded me of any other chains offerings, acceptable. Overall, I would not go here just for the food, you will be disappointed, but if you go for the games and activity's it is not a bad spot.

I tried the BBQ Beef Ribs bundle - which came with a drink (I got a Diet Mountain Dew) as well as 2 sides (I chose the Mac n cheese and cornbread, although it already came with 1 piece of cornbread) and 4 Beef ribs, a salmon croquette, steak and cheese egg roll with some sauce, and a peach cobbler. The main entree (ribs) were quite disappointing. There was very little meat on them. The ribs were quite chewy and mostly fat, which is not something I enjoy. They were also quite thin and coated in a ton of very sweet BBQ sauce. So, not a win. The corn bread, though, was actually quite good. It had a sugary moist topping that was very pleasant. It was a bit dry on the inside and did crumble, but the overall flavor was decent. I do appreciate they give you one piece for free. The Mac n cheese was not good, unfortunately. There was very little cheese. Any of the cheese that was present came in clumps, which made for a strange texture and flavor. It was also very buttery and oily, which I'm not a huge fan of either. I would really recommend staying away from this dish unless you like oily macaroni without much cheese. Portion is large. The egg roll was quite tasty. When ordering online, I couldn't find a way to add a single roll to my order, so I had to write it in the description of another item. Thankfully, the person making the food saw this note! The roll is larger than your average Chinese takeout egg roll, and it's packed with delicious items. They have seafood, chicken, and other varieties, but I chose the steak and cheese. Its crispy and the sauce in there (maybe the steak juices?) was delicious. Would have liked a bit more cheese, but overall great. However, the sauce that was served with it was not that great. You do not get the option to choose your sauce. The one it was served with was very acidic and too spicy for my liking. Maybe someone who enjoys spice would have a different opinion. For dessert, the peach cobbler was flavorful. It was made with real peaches and was not overly sweet. I have not tried many peach cobblers, but I assumed they were supposed to have a crust? This did not have a crust, and it was a bit soupy. The 'dough' parts were soggy. My favorite part of the meal was the salmon croquette. I would honestly recommend just getting the bundle meal with these croquettes, because I was that impressed. Definitely homemade and delicious. The portion was bigger than I expected for $4. A bit spicy, crispy on the outside, flaky on the inside. Nice sauce. All in all, there were some parts of the meal that were a let down. Others, like the salmon croquette or the egg rolls, were great. It's a hit or miss type place. I'm still looking for a Southern place in Pittsburgh that blows me away.

Cute little restaurant/bar with a Scottish food menu. Some of the items are meant for sharing, like…read morethe Scotch eggs and toast with whipped cheese, while others are single servings, like the salads and bangers and mash. I made a light summer meal of the house salad and half order of one Scotch egg, although I found the two creamy dressings to be too much. The cocktail list is relatively long and very tempting, but we got (and enjoyed) 3 sazeracs. Service was slow, but we didn't mind, because we had a lot to catch up on, and football was on the telly. Next to no parking in their private lot. Didn't try the restrooms. P.s. use the lower door off the patio to enter/exit.

Stone walls. Exposed wood and burlap ceiling. - Honey whipped goat cheese: this is good. Warm piece of crispy baguette. The tomato confit side goes well with it. - The scotch eggs are fantastic. Crispy outside, nice eggs within. Excellent with a little bit of Frank's. The dijonaise with it works well, gives almost a deviled egg vibe. - The fish and chips sandwich is fantastic. Large portion: Two of us could have split it and still walked away full. Battered. This one is cooked perfectly. The sandwich sandwich roll is crippled and lovely. The tartar sauce is subtle and dead-on. This is exactly what I want from a fish sandwich. - The french fries that came with the fish and chips are nicely cooked, medium cut. Crispy potatoey and perfect. These are crowdpleasers - everyone at our table liked them. Could possibly be worth a trip in and of themselves.

Wow what great service and food. Top quality taste and generous portions…read more We came for breakfast and had a Cleopatra omelette and fruit bowl and coffee. We decided to sit out on the front as it's summer and shaded in the am. Felt like we were on a trip to Italy or France! Great atmosphere inside as well. Very funky and friendly! The omelette was topped with a half avocado , and pesto. The center had spinach and mushrooms and baby tomatoes. It was quite amazing.... Please see pics. My fruit salad was very generously portioned. All was very fresh. Service was a ten! We definitely will be back to try more!

Small seating area can get crowded at busy times but they cycle through tables pretty quickly. The food is just fine; nothing special but satisfying. My favorite dish so far is the Caesar omelette which comes with smoked salmon and some nice salad plus toast. The omelette is big, salad too, though the toast felt a little light. My wife got the Tolstoy bowl, which came with two poached eggs, some peppers, and a heaping pile of potatoes. Good but a bit skewed toward potatoes. My mom got one of their egg sandwiches, which seemed very standard (their sandwiches all come with a good side salad).
