This little shop is full of Richmond cuteness. From specialty groceries, to locally-made art, to unique gifts and treasures, I could easily have filled my suitcase with goodies. I ended up buying a gorgeous postcard here (designed by a local artist) - the design featured the coffee shops of Richmond. Of course, I forgot to take a pic (who me?) but it was adorbs. The latte was delish, too! I don't usually like cherry-flavored things, but on a warm morning this was the perfect touch. The edible flowers made it just that much more delightful.

I usually come to this location for coffee, specifically coffee during a long wait at Perly's next door. I love their coffee options. This is an intimate/smaller Stella's Grocery, but it has all the local goods the others have packed in. There is a good amount of seating at the front too. You can order your coffee drinks at the front. They also have all the standard Stella's Greek food to go options. At the very front you're greeted by cute Richmond souvenirs and gifts. They have favorites in store like Nightingale Ice Cream sandwiches, Blanchard's coffee beans, Mad Kitchen Co. postcards, and more. I'd recommend getting a drink from here!

Taco stop #3…read more Located almost across the street from Taqueria Panchito & certainly walking distance to one of Richmond's fav strip joint is Latinos Unidos. Please note, when u pull into the strip, if your looking for the restaurant, its @ the far left of center... the big place @ right is only a bodega. As typical of all taco stops reviewed thus far... the staff are very welcoming & seems to have 1 person on staff who speaks very good English. Tacos are very good looking, with white corn tortillas. Fixings that come with are a good Verde salsa & a Pico de galo. The beef is seasoned/ marinated nicely & not too greasy. The meat is then mixed with roasted to perfection sweet onion... & mind you I really loath onions other than as seasoning ... for most I'm sure these onions will really make the taco The menu, like the joint down the street, is extensive & has lots of things I'm sure to try at some other point... but for now... you guessed it, its gonna be Carne Asada tacos (beef strips). This place is a bit different than others I've visited in that it appears to possibly have a bar/late night crowd. Complete with flat screens hanging from angle iron strips (I guess they didn't know there is such thing as a TV mount), a projection video system & live sound PA... I'm sure this is as close as RVA is getting to a seedy Mexican Canteena. Loaded with pictures of the dishes & drink options, you might 1st think you wandered into a Chinese food joint but I can assure you their skin is brown. So as for the taco scale, gotta say, this place is close to the top but with only checking out 3 dumps thus far... I'm still reserving opinion. The only thing I'll give you is they are much better tasting (based on 1 visit) than Taqueria Panchito across the street... The fact you don't have to cross 6 lanes of dangerous traffic to get the the strip joint also adds a point to the score.

Sometimes they have live crabs and clams, which is why I like coming here. There are many snacks, and they have other variety, so can't say I hated them. Overall: Small market, but well stocked. Seems to cater to mostly anyone, but everyone can come here for a varieties of food. You actually get decent service here compared to Tan-A!

However, service there is sometimes an absolute horror, that coming from someone who now lives in Miami (AKA the land of horrible service). You can actually go to a smaller place with helpful service that's literally walking distance away (but it's still more convenient to drive, nonetheless), and that place is Far East. Far East has everything you could possibly need for Southeast Asian cooking (and some staples for Chinese cooking) and although it's packed in a very tiny space, it's all there. The owners will not always hunt you down to see if you need help, but if they see you looking for something, they'll volunteer to help. They are friendly and they do speak English (and multiple Asian languages, too--Vietnamese and Chinese at minimum). The only reason to go to Tan A is if you need something Chinese, Japanese, Korean, etc, because that type of thing is limited at Far East, but come to Far East first and give your money where it's appreciated. The down side of Far East is that it has that odd smell some Asian markets have and the organization is a bit out of whack. Also, the credit card minimum is very high, $20, double anywhere else. However, Far East has among the lowest prices. A great thing to know is that Fridays and Saturdays, they sell packaged specialty buns in the boxes on the shelves in the produce area. They have taro, barbecue, mung bean, and more, all for 95 cents each. I absolutely love the taro one, mmmm!! **Credit minimum is $20***

The store has ample parking lot space, and is a small store. I have always been greeted and provided quality service when attempting to find a specific item in the store. Dishonest owner…read more Purchased a 4 lb (!) bag of chickpeas which became infested with bugs not long after. The bag was UNOPENED with an expiration date of 2024. I brought the item back for an exchange and was immediately and loudly accused that I had not purchased the product there. I told them I could show them my credit card bill (since I'd thrown away the receipt). THEN the owner rudely and loudly yells at me that they don't take returns after 30 days. Then changed his mind to 2 weeks. (!!) Again, the bag was unopened with an expiration date of 2024 (!!!) Horrible people. I've bought bags of beans and chickpeas from Walmart that stayed fresh for years! Never thought I'd be treated like some sort of criminal for wanting an exchange for sth THEY sold that was obviously BAD! To think I bought several 4 lbs bags!!
