Everything--from appointments to pet details--is handwritten, which looks unprofessional and feels disorganized. It's clear they're in desperate need of a digital overhaul. But worse than the disorganization was the experience my dog (and I) had during our visit. Here's what happened: * 9:00 AM: I dropped off my dog for her scheduled grooming appointment. I was told I'd receive a call when she was ready. * 12:34 PM: I hadn't heard anything, so I called to check in and confirm they had my correct number (given their handwritten system). I was told they were fully booked and that someone would call me--but no update was given on where she was in the process, or if she had even been started. * 2:30-2:45 PM: After talking to friends and confirming that waiting over 5 hours with no updates was unreasonable, I decided to go get my dog. * Around 2:50 PM: I arrived--not because I was called, but because my dog had now been there nearly SIX hours. When I asked for her, I was told she wasn't ready and that I needed to pay before they would release her. * I requested a discount, as I had just been told she was only partially groomed. The staff said they couldn't approve that. * 2:55 PM: I paid the full grooming fee of $51.50 for incomplete service just to get my dog back. She now has to be taken to another groomer to finish the job, particularly her face and possibly other areas that were left undone. This experience left me deeply concerned--not just as a customer, but as a pet owner. Grooming can be stressful for pets, and leaving a small dog kenneled for six hours without a potty break is unacceptable. There was no communication, no apology, and no accommodation for the delay or incomplete service. This raises several serious questions: * Why are they booking more appointments than they can reasonably handle? * Why charge full price for only partial service? * Why keep dogs kenneled for hours on end when proper scheduling and staffing could prevent that? I heard a water hose being used and when I got my dog she told me he just spilled water on himself because he was kinda wet and I thought nothing of it. When I got him in the car he smelled terrible and when we got home I saw he was covered in poop all on his belly, one paw and dried all on his nose. Also when I looked closer at his nose it looks like he was bitten. Its a shame I just would have done better with the truth. Really use to love this place.

I have never personally boarded a dog at Hanson Hill Farm, and I want to be completely transparent…read moreabout that. I am leaving this review because of the circumstances surrounding the death of a client's 12-year-old pug, Arabella, and because of Hanson Hill Farm's own public statement about what happened. What concerns me most is not simply that a tragic incident occurred. It is the explanation this facility chose to give afterward. Hanson Hill Farm publicly promotes more than 40 years of experience caring for dogs. With that level of experience, it is extremely difficult to understand their own statement that they were "unaware this was too long and too warm for Bella" after keeping a 12-year-old pug outside during a 45-minute outdoor rotation. Pugs are brachycephalic dogs. Their shortened airways make it harder for them to cool themselves through panting, and they are particularly vulnerable to heat-related illness. Senior dogs are also more vulnerable to heat stress. This is basic breed- and age-specific information that I would expect a professional boarding facility with decades of experience to understand. What makes this even more difficult to understand is that Hanson Hill Farm has apparently cared for pugs before and promotes experience caring for dogs with different ages and needs. So how was a senior pug's individual risk assessed here? The facility's statement specifically emphasizes that the temperature was 79°F and that the dogs had access to shade, water and a pool. But that does not tell the whole story. The relevant afternoon weather in Adairsville on Friday, August 21 was considerably warmer than that. Historical observations show temperatures around 82°F shortly after noon, 84°F around 1 PM, 86°F around 2 PM, and 88°F shortly afterward, with humidity in the roughly 60-70% range during the early afternoon. The day's high reached 90°F. We do not yet know the exact time Bella's 45-minute outdoor rotation occurred, which is why I am not going to pretend we do. But if this occurred during the afternoon leading up to the facility's approximately 2 PM call to her owner, the actual environmental conditions were considerably different from simply saying "79°F." That raises a very reasonable question: why does the facility's public explanation focus on a single 79°F temperature without providing the temperature, humidity or other environmental conditions during the actual outdoor rotation? Shade, water and a pool can help, but they do not eliminate the physiological risks of heat for a brachycephalic dog. A pug's ability to cool itself through panting is already compromised by its anatomy. The relevant question is whether the facility appropriately considered the dog's breed, age, individual condition, environmental conditions, duration of outdoor exposure and early signs of heat stress. The facility also says it was watching the dogs on a camera and that Bella appeared to be walking around and interacting normally before she was brought inside. That raises another serious question: was someone physically outside supervising the dogs, or were staff primarily monitoring the outdoor area through a camera from inside? A camera can show where a dog is. It cannot physically assess breathing, panting, posture, responsiveness or other early signs of distress. And by the facility's own account, Bella eventually laid down in the shade before they brought her inside and recognized that she was in distress. This is especially difficult to reconcile with a business publicly promoting decades of experience and individualized care. I am not claiming to know every medical detail of Arabella's case, and I am not pretending to have been her owner. I am saying that after reading Hanson Hill Farm's own explanation of what happened, I would not feel comfortable entrusting my dog to this facility. If you are considering Hanson Hill Farm, ask very specific questions about how they handle senior dogs and brachycephalic breeds, what temperature and humidity thresholds they use for outdoor activity, how long dogs are kept outside, whether staff physically supervise outdoor groups, and what procedures they use to recognize and respond to heat stress. A business claiming more than 40 years of experience should already know these things. For me, their own statement raises far more questions than it answers.
