All of them are equally talented, excellent with color, and up on trends and styles. These folks truly take the time to understand your hair, how it grows, your goals, and they listen carefully. I'd love to have hair like Jake Gyllenhall but unfortunately I'd need more product than I have hair left since my hair is bone straight and fine. Plus, if you stick with them, they will see how your hair tolerates color and how it wears and also how your hair grows and offer advice on how to get a look and offer a quick product tutorial. Remember to ask questions if you aren't feeling like you're getting answers. Communication is two way and critical in this process. Kim, who answers the phones most of the time, manages the inventory, schedules, and is the gatekeeper for all things Aveda is truly fantastic. I love these folks, they are as much family to me as my own. I am comfortable asking questions and advice about how to style my hair or create a new look. The nice thing about it too is that they will collaborate together as a team and also offer you feedback. It's a great team! You need to feel secure in your choices and have realistic expectations. You will also love that your color formula is stored in the Aveda system so if you happen to be in NYC or Miami or Los Angeles, it is accessible! Love this! Atmosphere and vibe here is very relaxed. I read some other posts and don't know a thing about brow waxing, but will ask about it as one poster commented the person doing the work was rude and smacked their gum. Yuck, that's not professional. I think the person now doing it, I met once as her client was leaving. She is super nice and interested in the client she was working on. The client was happy when she was chatting with Kim and her. But, I love the aesthetic of this place. I can't remember if it was an old gas station or convenience store, but the building has a rich Lexington history. The interior is painted a nice gray and it has great lighting in both natural and overhead. It is also well ventilated. Products aren't overwhelming your senses. The chairs are quite fancy and comfortable. I also like how the spaces are set up. It allows me to have conversation with other clients or folks working that day. All their towels and capes are great, which is a sign to me that they care about their customer experience and quality. They take the time to keep things clean, brushes and combs, clippers and scissors are always in perfect condition. They also touch things up a few times a year with paint or anything needing fixed. I hate seeing dirty vents in ceilings and they keep theirs clean! I'm just saying these things because I look at stuff like this to help me measure how invested they are at running their business. I lived in Louisville for many years and went to Z Salon & Spa and later William Deans in the highlands. Bill cut my hair at William Deans, and Zenda at Z. They are among the best and on the same level as the team at Rejuvenation Station Salon & Spa. In my experience with the team here, I always have fantastic results. Go and make the leap, you will not regret it. Plus, you'll make so many new Lexington connections having coffee or tea. It is hard to get booked with them. But, once you make an appointment, if they have an earlier opening, they might call to check to see if you want it. It's such a great culture there and so many fascinating backgrounds and interesting caring, kind, nonjudgmental folks. Chelsea! Nearly forgot to mention her! I'm very picky about my hair color and she was able to duplicate exactly what I wanted by pictures and looking at skin tone and eye color. Not only did I get a head and neck massage before highlights were applied, but during the salon washing process I got an amazing head and shoulder rub and hand massage with essential oils. I have to admit, I'm not an avid salon-goer. So, going to a salon doesn't happen often and even the…read morethought of getting my hair cut makes me nervous. I kept seeing reviews posted about this place and finally, in July I decided to see what all of the hype was about, so I peeped around online. The scheduling process is super easy online, although I don't think all of the stylists are listed. So, if you're wanting a specific stylist and they're not listed as available online, call. The day of my appointment I received a call indicating that Jessica, the stylist that I had scheduled was ill. They offered for me to see Sarom who turned out to be less expensive than the one who I'd initially scheduled. Score! I must mention that even though the cut was cheaper, Ms. Sarom wasn't less than amazing. I'm jumping ahead. It's located in the Chevy Chase area, in the same strip as Starbucks. So, parking could be an issue, but I've always been able to score a spot in the lot in front when I patronize the businesses in that strip mall of sorts behind Louie's Wine Dive. When I checked in, I was pleasantly surprised to be offered warm tea, which just so happened to be fantastic and made the short wait worth the while. So, skip Starbucks before your appointment. As I sat and waited, I noticed Sarom taking her time with the client before me. It was nice to see that she wasn't rushing like other stylists in some of my other previous experiences. I didn't know that she was my scheduled stylist, so that was a welcomed surprise when she introduced herself after she finished up. This is one of the few Aveda featured salons in Lexington. Apparently, all of the locations start with a mini hand and neck massage before your cut. Speaking of my cut, it was perfect and exactly the way that I requested it to be cut. I'd go again. Maybe next time I'll have less anxiety about it.
