I originally booked my eyelash extension with a different company and the girl ended up getting sick. She had to cancel my appointment that was 4 days before my engagement photos. Jenny at atea salon who answered the phone was SOOO nice and understanding and fit me in for a 1.5 hour appointment with Haley. She said she put a note down for Haley so she could put in as many lashes as possible in that 1.5 hour session since I was so short on time. I never imagined how amazing Haley would be given the time. She really put so much attention into my lashes in that time and they turned out beautiful! She even offered to do another session and was going to come in early for me. Talk about amazing service! I ended up loving my lashes the way they were after just the first session. I moved to Lexington in July, and was really worried about finding a new salon to take care of my hair. I've had a few bad experiences in the past where I ended up with something more akin to a mullet than anything else. After asking for recommendations and looking up reviews online, I decided to try Atea and they set me up with Becca. I can't explain how happy I am with my experience! Not only is Becca sweet, but she listens to what you're looking for and is meticulous with her cuts. I have lots of long, fine hair, and I have found that it can be remarkably difficult to find someone who knows what to do with it because it's heavy and weirdly thick! I've had two haircuts with Becca, and both times I've left with my hair feeling 100% lighter, and it even lays well even when I am styling it myself! I've also been considering going bronde, and after talking with Becca, I think I am going to go for it during out next appointment. The salon is relaxing and everyone I have ever encountered is friendly. There's even plenty of parking so you don't have to feed a meter or circle the block for parking. I just had my first appointment at Atéa with Kenzie after being suggested here by a colleague. I am in the process of making a more drastic change to the color of my hair (going blonde!) and Kenzie did a fabulous job with this first step of my hair. My hair had some red in it and had been dyed previously and she did a great job of getting my hair as far along as she could to my goal look but still keeping it feeling and looking healthy and natural. I am so pleased that she kept the integrity and health of my hair in mind and didn't just give me the full look in one sitting and ruin the health of my hair in the process. I cannot be more pleased with the way my hair looks and feels! She was just absolutely amazing and made it an amazing experience too! I can't wait to come back for the next step as I know it will be just as superb. The salon is really easy to get to as well with a large parking lot next to it so you don't have to worry about parking on the street and/or walking a long distance to get there. The salon itself is also beautiful and the entire team there was incredibly welcoming and courteous. I came in for a cut and blowout for myself and my young daughter. Our Stylist was Alexis. I chose Alexis because I loved what she said in her profile on the Salon's website. I believed she was going to be a genuine person of substance and I was right. I want to go to the salon and have a cut/style without any forced phony awkwardness. I also want someone who has up to date skills. I was very happy with the total experience at Atéa. The space is beautiful, the staff are professional and very gracious. I loved that they already knew about the things that mattered to me- ingredients in the shampoos and conditioners such as silicones and sulphates. None of their shampoos have harsh chemicals which would dry or weigh your hair down. Alexis spent time talking with both of us before starting our haircuts. There was no pressure to get us out the door even though this was an evening appointment. She was gentle and knowledgeable. My daughter loves her cut and so do I. I really appreciated Alexis coaching my daughter on best practices for hair care (my daughter is just coming into that stage of a young girls life where she wants to be more grownup with her hair). This was my first experience with Atea, and I was so impressed. The facility is very nice, simple and open, and the girls were welcoming and seemed to enjoy being there (which is not always the case). My stylist, Bonnie, was AMAZING. Not only does she have a great sense of humor and an open personality, but she slayed the short curly style that I asked for. I went in with long, thick and curly hair and came out with a fun, layered bob that was exactly what I was looking for. For a curly girl, it's sometimes hard to find a stylist who is confident in taking on shorter, "crazier" styles. It is even harder to find someone who can do it well! Atea is SUCH a beautiful salon. During your visit, you almost forget that you're in Lexington! The salon offers complimentary beverages while you wait, and the staff is SO kind. The waiting area is beautiful, as are each of the service areas! I've received multiple services at Atea, including hair cut, color (highlights & balayage), eyebrow shaping, eyelash extensions, etc. The salon uses Davines products (which I LOVE), and they recently began using their own brand of eyelash extensions and glue. I'm not sure if it makes sense or not, but I feel a sense of SAFETY going to Atea; I trust that they use the highest quality products and that they want the absolute best for my hair, my eyelashes, my skin, etc. I feel as if they really look out for the well-being of their clients in ways that I've never experienced at another salon. Lydia (the owner), is always present when I visit and seems to be constantly working her tail off to offer the best products & service here in Lexington. In terms of stylists, Becca is phenomenal, and I recommend her to everyone I know! She does such a fantastic job with eyelash extensions and is so meticulous about her work. I've also been a part of a wedding that she did makeup & hair for - and everyone looked STUNNING. She's a joy to chat with and makes your entire visit to the salon so relaxing. The girls of Atea provided a wonderful experience for my daughter's wedding party! We are from Chicago and weren't quite sure where to go for Bridal updo's and makeup. Atea's convenient location to the Hilton hotel is what sold us. When we went in to check it out we were pleasantly surprised on the friendly atmosphere #1, the spacious salon, the variety of products available and the ability to bring food/beverages in. When the wedding day came the stylists were very punctual, so professional and amazing how they captured each of the bridesmaids and brides personalities with their hair and makeup! Let me start with I don't like to spend a lot of money on my hair. I usually go to the Paul Mitchell school for hair cuts as I've only trimmed my hair for the last 10 years. It takes a long time but it's only $12. Well, I was wanting more than a trim this time so I wanted to go somewhere where my hair would be exactly what I wanted. I was occasionally going to a girl who would try to find easier ways to do what I asked and it never turned out to be something I loved. The over vibe in the salon is great! Everyone was constantly asking is a wanted anything to drink which was a nice touch. However I paid $220 for color and a hair cut and quite honestly it looks like a 5 year old put the layers in my hair. The length is great but the layers in the back are embarrassing! My mother said something about it later that evening when I had dinner with her, but I didn't believe she but earlier today she took some photos so for me so I could see them and all I wanted to do was put my hair in a pony tail. It makes me sad as I could have gone to the beauty school and paid a third of the price and gotten a better cut. I do plan to go back to have it fixed but never again will I pay that much for a hair cut! read more

Ateà Salon will always be my home salon-I have been going since college now and I can't imagine going any where else. My stylist, Lydia, is the most amazing person and I am very thankful for her in every aspect of my life-including hair! I normally get a highlight or trim-I always walk out feeling good because Lydia has worked her magic and made my hair beautiful. They always offer you a drink when you get in which is nice if you're in a hurry before your appointment! All the shampoos and conditioners smell amazing-all the stylists at Ateà do a great job, I would be confident that any of them could do my hair. Tiffany Belanger is my hair stylist and by far the best hair stylist I've ever had! She did balayage on my hair and fixed what someone else had messed up. I told her what I wanted and she exceeded my expectations! She also gave me the best hair trim I've ever had! I no longer live in Kentucky full-time but make sure I book an appointment at Atéa every time I'm back in town and it remains my only hair salon. Because of this I usually book last minute and so I've had several different stylists - Becca, Bonnie, and Tiffany. They are each wonderful and super nice! I always leave extremely happy with both my cut and the way they style my hair. Usually I hate the way hairstylists fix my hair after a cut and I rush home to straighten or fix it. This is not the case with Atéa and I always leave with a super cute blowout that I try to make last as long as possible. Highly recommend this salon and any of the stylists there! read more
