Good work, but very slow. The man working spent a lot of time telling me how backed up he was. When I came in 4 weeks later to ask if they were done, he replied "Did I call you and tell you they were done?" I answered no and he said, "Then they are not done." I asked for a refund and to get my shoes back. He then found my shoes (which was not easy for him, that place is not organized at all) and he fixed them in 15 minutes while I waited. And they are cash only, so be prepared for that. They did good work, but I will not wait 4 weeks again for a 15 minute repair. I will be going elsewhere. read more

I brought my boots in to be refreshed before winter. The heels were replaced. The receipt had two charges for an oil and a shine. $28 worth of services. This was not done. My boots were visibly dirty when I received them . Scuffed and in bad shape. I am extremely disappointed. I went out of my way to seek a professional that should take pride in their work. I have had two very expensive pairs of shoes absolutely ruined by these folks. I needed a sole and heel replaced on a pair of vintage heels. At first they tried to refuse to replace the leather sole with another leather sole. Explaining that these shoes are used for dancing somehow did not get through. I had to pay a lot extra for that service. They painted the edge of the new sole with some kind of black paint and managed to get it all over the suede uppers. Recently, I had the leather heel tips come off of another pair of my dance shoes. All I asked for was for those to be replaced with the same kind of leather heel tips that came on the shoes. I picked up my shoes and they had replaced the heel tips with rubber ones AND they had coated the soles of the shoes with some kind of rubbery coating that I DID NOT ASK FOR. These shoes have leather soles, appropriate for dancing on hardwood floors. Now I cannot spin or slide, as needed. These shoes cost $200.00 and now they are useless as dance shoes. If you have anything other than old work boots or casual shoes, you are better off going ANYWHERE but here. I will be driving to a reputable shoe repair shop I know of in Cincinnati, even though it is over 100 miles away. It is too bad that I cannot give NEGATIVE stars on this platform. read more

Had a pair of shoes that he quoted $80 (with the cash upfront) that supposedly required stitching. Told me it would be finished within a week. 10 days later, no stitching but glued with residue all over the shoe. He didn't even call to see if I wanted to still have the work done , since stitching wasn't required .Not even a price adjustment to glue a couple of pieces of leather that didn't hold a week. I had the option to either pay half when I dropped the shoes off & half when I picked them up, or all up front. They told me that my boots would be ready in two days and that they'd give me a call- I was pleasantly surprised that they were ready the very next day. The boots looked great! No, it's not free - it costs money to have shoes repaired, but it it less than the cost of a new pair and hey - you already broke that pair in. The man at the counter is always pleasant and they complete the work pretty quickly. Do know that they are closed from 1:00 - 2:30 pm for their lunch (so they can be open for you to come in during YOUR lunch break) and they are right next to Dad's Favorites so you can pick up a sandwich while you are there! read more

I took two pairs of well loved, but high quality boots here. I needed a heel repaired on one and the other pair needed to be stretched out to accommodate and insole. I have picky feet, and couldn't let these very comfortable boots go due to minor issues. The man working was friendly and seems to really know his business. He returned both pairs to me in two days, and now they feel and look almost like new. I will certainly be back when I need more shoe repair or stretching. The hours are a bit difficult for people who work long days, but if you plan you can probably make it work. read more

They recently removed an awful spot on a pair of very good leather shoes while I waited and didn't charge me. So I had a pair of Frye boots that needed new heals. If I had sent them off, repair was going to be $70. Found Bluegrass and made it there before lunch (!) dropped boots off, $28 repair. I took a pair of sandels to be re-glued in August. The repair cost was $26.00. By September (I had not worn them many times) they had come apart. When I returned to the shop I was told to take them home and use $2.00 worth of super glue to fix them myself. I wasted 2 trips, $26.00, but will not be returning to this shoe repair shop. read more

The man behind counter wasn't wearing a mask on two occasions and if he has a medical reason for not wearing a mask- he should be wearing a face shield in a public business. My husband just got over COVID-19 and I am pregnant- I will not be putting myself or family at risk for someone to be so rude to me or my husband just for asking questions about a pair of boots I needed repaired. It's unfortunate because I have been here around 3-4 times prior with great service and I'm not sure why this time was so bad. It's like the guy behind the counter literally didn't think I should be there or didn't want to listen to my questions because they legitimately ended up putting 1 new zipper in my pair of leather boots and not in both shoes. Why would you keep both my shoes if you were only planning to repair one? He also didn't ask which shoe needed to be repaired so not sure how they decided since they both had issues with the zipper that I pointed out. Also who in their right mind wants just one zipper replaced (that ended up being a different color than the other btw) When I dropped them off I asked if $90 covered the cost for both shoes to have new zippers and visually touched them both when I said this and he said yes $90 total - but then when my husband went to pick them up only 1 was done and the man said he told me it was $90 for one zipper when I dropped them off. He then degraded me to my husband saying I was pretty much crazy and refused to offer any solutions to fix the situation. If that truly was the case I would have paid for both boots to have zippers, since these boots aren't made anymore and I love them-but with how we were treated after the misunderstanding I'd rather give someone else my money who treats customers with respect and kindness. I am not someone who typically has these communication challenges as I was pretty straight forward about wanting both zippers to match and be repaired. They even told me they would call if they couldn't find the right color but the only call I received was when they told me the boot was finished. Not the way to treat a returning customer or how I would ever want to represent a business. I have a dear old pair of Red Wing 8138's going 8 yrs strong.. After much grumbling over the price and shipping hassle of online Red Wing resole services I decided to give the local cobbler a try. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they stocked the appropriate vibram wedge soles in white and black, so I took the opportunity to switch from the factory cream color. They had my boots ready to go two days after I dropped em off and a day earlier than promised- a huge advantage over any online service if I do say so myself.. Workmanship seems solid on the new soles and the black is a nice change. Lastly, a couple of gripes- first that they didn't pick the old stitching out of the welt and second that they used a different color thread on the new stitching.. I know it's just cosmetic, but it might be worth noting at drop off, especially on a nicer pair of boots. All in all, I'm pretty happy and won't hesitate to bring my next pair in they're due for new treads. read more

I would never come back here. Very rude. I wanted to have a pair of leather boots taken in, so I left a message asking if they could do it. I've boots taken in before, but at different places. Two days went by and no one called me back, so I went in, and the big guy behind the counter treated me like I had no business being there. When I asked him if they could take the boots in he said "No" so curtly that I thought he was joking and I laughed. Turns out he was serious. He tried to tell me it couldn't be done. The Lady we spoke to was very sweet, but the man was incredibly rude to me. I dropped my boots off there over a month ago, and they told me that they would call me when they were ready. Well, it's been a month now, and I've called him three or four times, leaving messages every time stressing that I needed these boots back, and today I called and the man gets on the phone and I tell him that I've called multiple times and left messages and what does he say, in the most ungentlemanly manner? This place is great! The employees are very friendly and will go out of their way to help the customers. They will tell you the truth - if a job is not worth doing because it will cost you too much or you will be unhappy with the results, they will tell you up front. They are very down to earth. They won't overcharge, and their prices are very reasonable - their work is excellent. I have been a very long time customer, and have had many shoes, sandles, and boots repaired by them. They have also told me when it would cost less and have better results to throw the old shoes away and buy a new pair. I have also had them help me with odd leather projects, with great results. If you need soles or heels replaced or repaired - this is the place to go. If you need sole build ups they will do just what you ask for. They won't waste your time, and often times they will do the small jobs while you wait. I've seen ladies bring in high heel shoes that have been worn way down. And what would have been a simple 5 minute job of replacing the rubber heels tips, costing about $10, ends up requiring extensive repair. Even then, the results are amazing. These folks are nice. Do not take your repairs here. I've been here twice and was somewhat satisfied with the first repair. My second experience was awful. I took a pair of boots in to be stretched and talked to him about what I needed. I picked up my boots and was shocked by how awful they looked. I complained about how uneven they were and two busted seams. It appears that someone tried to glue the seams back together but he claims that he never touched it. He pointed to an obscure handwritten sign and told me that he was not responsible for stretching. He never told me this when I brought them in and offered no solution or refund. read more
