Stopped in at Shagfh Cafe for the popular Dubai Chocolate . Located in Tempe in a small plaza, it's quite cute inside. Turquoise blue, gold monkeys and stylized art create an upscale vibe. Friendly staff were hard at work when I visited on a Thursday at 12:30. Half the tables and high top work areas were full with another 6 people in line. I had a hot chocolate with almond milk and the Dubai Chocolate. The chocolate was sweet creamy and the pistachio cream filling was divine! I would have preferred dark chocolate as I find milk chocolate too sweet but that is what is typically combined with the shredded phyllo dough and pistachio cream. If you've ever had the green tea Kit Kat candy, this is a similar taste and so good! This stunning cafe comes to our desert from another desert around the world (the UAE). It's really beautiful and clean inside, with a lot of nice decorations an finishing touches. Even the cups and the baked goods have great presentation. And how cute is the little velvet cake espresso cup in my photos (yes, it's edible!)? The staff is also very friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking in the plaza where the cafe is located. It was very crowded on a Sunday afternoon when I went. Deducted one star because in spite of the large selection, there isn't much for those of us who are sensitive to caffeine, and the cost was really high - the prices may make me think twice before I return, which is really unfortunate because I do like the place! Came by on a Sunday morning and it was about 40% full. There are lots of tables and high tables with outlets for folks who want to work or study. Nice girl helped me out and answered my questions. Ordered a pistachio latte and eclair to go - my bill was $17 without a tip! Pretty expensive so I don't think I would come frequently. The pistachio latte had a strong espresso taste but barely any pistachio so that was disappointing. I heard the pistachio frappe is much better with real pistachio paste and blended nuts. They did tell me the frappe has ice cream blended in so more of a dessert with more calories. The eclair was pretty good and huge. I prefer diplomat creme over creme pat for eclairs but it was fine. You wouldn't think this place was cool from the outside until you walk in. The Instagram accounts and the videos they posted is what drew me to this place. Walking in, it's like you're transported to another culture and I enjoyed that. The decor was simple yet classy. They had these skinny tables for two on one corner that was perfect for working and or studying while you drink your coffee and eat your snack. My sister got a coffee and she said it's the best coffee she's had in a while. I had the tea and it was fabulous. We also ordered the tiramisu which was not as great but also, it's not an Italian bakery so I wouldn't expect it to be a fabulous tiramisu. I should have ordered a middle eastern dessert but it slipped my mind. The service was quick and we were given these lagers that lit up and buzzed when the order was ready. The only reason I gave this a 4 instead of a 5 star because the wifi was not working properly even though I asked numerous times what the passcode was. They also had a lunch buffet spread but the food looked dry. It's not a dinner or lunch spot so I didn't expect a restaurant type meal but still would be good for their buffet to look fresh rather than dry and old. Eh. We came here because of the viral Dubai pistachio chocolate. The cafe was very cute, clean, and friendly. Almost every table was taken on a Thursday night. We ordered coffee and tiramisu while we waited for the next batch of Dubai chocolate. I find it a little odd that they didn't let us pay for it together with our number but we had to flag the person coming out of the kitchen to let them know we wanted one and then pay for it separately. Either way, we only waited about 5-10 mins. The $9 chocolate was very pretty but underwhelming. There was very little filling (esp compared to the TikTok) and the piece was very small (maybe 2.5 in diameter). The coffee was good. The tiramisu was yummy however it was frozen in the middle. Cute decor and ambiance. I got the Turkish coffee & Nutella crepe. Turkish coffee came in a cute mini cup with ferrero chocolate on top. It didn't sit too well with my taste buds as it was too bitter and cinnamon-y for me, but I normally like my coffee a bit more on the sweeter side. I ended up swapping out my drink for the Habiji iced coffee instead and loved it. Probably one of the best coffees I've had. It was strong and had a unique flavor - good combination of nutty and a bit sweet. The crepe came with fruits and Nutella on top. It was a bit bland , I probably wouldn't get again. My daughter has been non stop talking about the Dubai Chocolate Strawberries since she had them elsewhere a while back. I noticed today while we were in the area that Shaghf Cafe offered them. I could also go for a latte so we headed over. While parking lot looks unassuming and well boring it does not match inside where it is beautiful, clean and offers some great options as well as photo op's. I didn't get as many pics as I'd like because it was pretty busy and don't want to intrude on their space. I approached the man at the cash register and smiled and said hello., Nothing. Literally nothing; no smile no hello. Just awkward. I asked a few questions and he answered. I ordered both a caramel latte and the Dubai strawberry cup. I paid and found a seat while we waited. Once ready he walked over to us and I met him halfway. Everything looked great. The Dubai chocolate wasn't as sweet as I'd convinced myself it would be and it was actually so easy to eat the entire thing, but I did share with my daughter ha ha. My caramel latte was great. Nice flavor but not overdone with syrups. A great thing is they stay open super late. It is a huge college area so it would be an awesome place to study. As of this review, their menu mainly serves coffee, teas, and plenty of desserts. My partner and I got the pistachio crepe and the currently trending Dubai chocolate. We loved the crepe! Every single component worked so well together. We would definitely come back again just for the crepe alone. However, we found the Dubai chocolate way too sweet. It mainly tasted like sugar. We think it could be improved if the chocolate portion was made with dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate to help balance out the other components. Service was to the point and not too fast or slow. The inside is very clean. Patrons were also speaking at a respectable volume, which makes working or studying here seem good. The one gentleman worker brought his lunch in a Pyrex glass container and was smacking his food hella loud. Mouth open, chewing Loud, n smackin. Slamming his fork in the glass dish. I decided to try this place out yesterday because I was in the area. When I first walked in, I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it was on the inside. The ambience was great. The menu is extensive and the young woman that rang us up was very nice. She answered all of our questions and was patient with us. We ended up ordering the Dubai chocolate croissant, I ordered a coconut Matcha and my friend ordered a date latte. The coconut Matcha latte was so good and my friend really liked the date latte . The presentation of the Dubai chocolate croissant was beautiful and it was very good. My only complaint is that the croissant was a little bit hard to cut through but the flavors were there. This cafe is super fun! Our friend took us here for their chocolate Dubai strawberry and it was delicious! You can see students (ASU is near) working on their laptops. Absolutely love this place, I wish I lived closer. I am Middle Eastern myself so I am always looking for places to find community. I have been here twice. The owner of this location is Palestinian so please come show some love. The ambiance is beautiful. It's so pretty inside. The seats are a luxurious green and they are my favorite part. I want to come back and try more things off the menu, but so far I have tried two lattes and some dessert. If you're looking for Dubai chocolate btw, this is the place to find it. The coconut latte and the tiramisu latte were both wonderful. Staff has been friendly each time. I love talking to the people there and relating our cultures. I came today Sunday at 10am, ordered pretty timely and drink was ready within 5 minutes. I'm a coffee shop hopper, I go every where local so of course I wanted to at least try this place. I got the Habibi Latte and it's tasty I like it. It is on the sweeter side, not sure if they can make it less sweet upon request, either way it was good. Everyone was nice and pleasant. I'll definitely return in the future. Also price point for my latte was pretty standard. At all the local coffee shops after tip I spend between $7-$9 but that's the price for local coffee shops. Pretty & pricey! I had to check this place out of course after hearing they serve the viral Dubai chocolate. I really didn't know what to expect as I've never had it before. I came in the early evening hours midweek & it was fairly empty. Beautifully decorated with black marble walls, wood fluted corners & contemporary style seating. Like most places these days, the social media hype of this place reeled me in. I tried to visit one time before and there was a long line out of the door so I moved in. Well, I finally got to try it. I ordered a red velvet latte and a strawberry matcha latte. The red velvet latte was good for what it was. It was a little difficult to mix the drink up to create the balance needed so I really just tasted the chocolate flavor, then the milk, then the coffee, not like a good mix or balance of the flavors but it wasn't nasty. The matcha latte was not good in my opinion. The quality of the matcha just didn't seem good and the strawberry flavor did not mix well into the drink. It mostly tasted like milk. Had dinner with some friends and didn't feel quite ready to go home. Found this place and fell in love. I'd never had Arab coffee before, the barista was super nice and gave me recommendations. Pros: Service & staff are really friendly & the atmosphere is cool. Cons: The Cost. Plain & simple there is NO reason I should have paid $38 for TWO drinks (pistachio frappe & single shot Shagfe) plus a chocolate. That's insane and had I paid attention at checkout I would have told them to cancel my order. This price doesn't even match their menu prices. Pistachio frappe is $9.35 & Shagfe is $8.31. Dubai chocolate also $8.31. How do we go from a total of $25.97 to $38.88?! And unfortunately I added a 20% tip, so in the end I paid almost $47. Shame on me for not looking at the price & trusting at checkout. To take it a step further, I called the cafe to discuss the charge. At first she said the prices were correct and drinks are $10-$15 each, but when I told her that doesn't match their menu prices she back tracked but told me she couldn't do anything about what I was charged because she wasn't there. I expressed that $40 for two coffees and a piece of chocolate is ridiculous and that they are not being honest by posting one price but charging another. Lovely family own place. The staff is so incredibly kind here. They have student discount by the way! I believe they had other ones too, but I can't remember them from the top of my head. Habibi latte (10/10): this was a fantastic latte. Wasn't too sweet, wasn't too heavy, and I loved the replacement of Spanish milk for the regular milk added. Corn flake latte (8/10): very unique drink, I loved the corn flakes at the top. If you are a person who doesn't love soggy cereal though, wouldn't recommend this for you haha. I love that it didn't overpower the actual coffee of the drink though. Cheese danish and chocolate muffin were good! Standard, nothing surprising, filling. The wait was little long to order and get our coffee. They were super busy. The pistachio Frappe was really good very unique and you can definitely taste fresh pistachios. It came in a very cool designed can. Theo hot coffee cups are unique as well. They have a lot of seating areas indoor but it may get little busy and crowded on weekends. Gorgeous coffee spot in Tempe, open late and perfect for students. Both times I've visited have been during the day, and it seems to be quite popular still. Plenty of seating for duos and larger groups. It is more expensive, but I don't mind as the space is inviting and I would expect to spent at least a couple hours here each time, either visiting or studying. Habibi Latte - this just tasted like hazelnut to me. Nice sweet treat, but I probably wouldn't get this every time if blood sugar is a concern. Baby chino - Barista said it wouldn't be sweet, so they added a pump of vanilla. I found it to be a pleasant, almost mocha-like drink.
