Consistently fresh, tasty food! I love the chicken tikka kabobs and the minced chicken kabobs! Great rice, heatlhy and tasty veggies (pickled turnips I believe) and bone-on kabobs! Not the cheapest middle eastern (might be a good thing) but the prices are really low for the quality (something like $10 for really good lamb and sides!) Also the healthiest tasty option nearby (Souper salad doesnt count) Keep it up and Ill keep coming. read more

I had the pleasure of eating at the Shahi Cafe about three times now and can honestly say it is worth the trip. It is probably the best middle eastern style food that I've had in the years since I was lucky enough to get home cooked persian dishes made regularly for me. I would highly suggest the Gormeh Sabzi and any of their kabobs. And the best part is that it is family owned! Gotta love good local buisness and dining! read more

I called in a pick up order shortly before they closed and they were so gracious and helpful! If you order the shwarma wrap and they ask "combo?" Say yes! Also know the wraps are huge. Shahi cafe is an oasis in the middle of this weekday traffic. I love their special chai, but my love and I mainly keep visiting them because of their great customer service. Albert is very attentive and polite. He always greet us with a sincere smile and make our day better. Today, we had their veg and chicken samosas, and I'm considering in getting some of them to go. My GF and I had dinner here and we were very impressed with the freshness and quality of our meals. It was a slow evening, we were told that lunch is usually their busy time. All their meats and vegetables are fresh and since they're attached to a Mediterranean grocery store it all makes sense. My Lamb Kabob plate was very tasty, very reminiscent of the shish kabob mom used to make back in the day and cooked to order. My date's Gyro plate was smaller, less expensive but just as fulfilling. They honored their Groupon with a smile. It fairly utilitarian inside but you can't eat atmosphere. The prices are fair, the food looked and tasted very good and the staff were cordial and helpful and that made for a fine dinner. It's tucked away near the corner of N. Lamar Blvd and Parmer Lane but it's worth searching out. read more

I had my doubts at first, but after trying the chicken breast kabob lunch special I'm convinced that this is one of the best Mediterranean cafes in town. The best Indian food in Austin. We ordered beef nihari, chicken Biryani, goat masala, chapati. Originally looking at the quantity of the food, we two thought we can't finish it. Good shawarma. I also really liked the plots, though it was a bit cold. The veggie curry was a little sweet for my tastes. The chicken curry had amazing flavor and sauce, but the fact that it was fatty and on the bone wasn't really my style. The grocery store may be fine, but skip the hot food buffet. I had the chicken shawarma platter and I felt sick after. They don't put much effort into it. I showed the lady my coupon and was told that they do not take them and could not honor the discount. I asked how she could partner with a company and sell coupons only to tell their customers when they arrive that the discount will not been honored. She did not have an answer so I asked if she would give me the discount even though the back-end agreement with resteraunt.com seemed to be no longer good as that was not really my problem. Best shawarma plate and hummus I've found in Austin! Staff is extremely nice and friendly. I asked if they had a to-go cup to take a drink for the road and he handed me a plastic reusable cup with their logo and said if you bring the cup back with you when you dine, you never have to pay for a drink! I have been back multiple times now and surprisingly I keep liking everything more. I ate in the other day and the level of table service was very high. The family treats you like you are family, people you would totally have in your home and break bread with. Only comment would be that the level of spicy seasoning varies a bit from time to time. I had delivery so can't comment on the establishment, but although delivery was quick, the food was cold. The mixed pakoras weren't as described, were cold (who wants fried food that isn't hot??), and leaked oil through the paper bag. The flavor was good, so they might be good in the restaurant. The chicken kabob flavor was also good, and also cold. The tzatziki sauce was watery. The tabouleh and baba ganouj didn't have much flavor. Worst of all, the gyro meat was clearly pacakged not fresh. Avoid. Update - this was the only thing I ate yesterday (and the only thing I'd eaten since mid-afternoon the day before), and I got very sick a few hours after eating it. So it seems that not only did it not taste good and wasn't hot, it also appears at least some part of it had gone bad / wasn't prepared safely. Absolutely avoid. read more

Tyipcally I don't write reviews. But I do take it upon my self to write one if I start feeling sick after having food. The salad tasted bitter. Kabobs were too salty with meat being cooked in too high a flame so inner parts of the kabob felt uncooked and outer slightly burnt. The dough of the naan wasn't fresh and too salty. Finally the packaging wasnt up to mark either with curd leaking into other sections of the food. Only thing which tasted okay was the rice. I was looking for halal food and this option came up on doordash. Unlikely that I will order from shahi food again. Can't give anything more than 2 stars. read more

After reading the reviews, I am extremely disappointed. I sent my husband to pick up some food for us which should have taken 30 minutes, and he came back an hour later, pissed off. The guy was rude to him...kept correcting him on how to say gyro, kept giving him the wrong items, then pulled out a package of frozen "gyro meat" and heated it up. Well, burnt it to a crisp so it ended up tasting like a mcdonald's burger. Then he put pickles in them. Gross. It seriously tasted horrible. I don't ever want to deal with that again. read more

I stopped in this little market, on my way to another store, looking for Henna, and I have to say this is a little gem, the food was great, I had the grape seed roll, if you have never had one you should try one. Jaymee is the owner, she is a good chief, and so sweet, she let me test the food, How great is that. However I did not find the Henna, I looked at other markets, and what they had was very old and over priced so I hope they start stocking Henna below the $3.50 a box. Being military it is hard to pay over $3.50 for 100gms. So all in all, when they start stocking Henna, it will be worth the drive from Killeen, to have lunch and pick up my Henna. Great food and natural hair care products in one place what more could you ask for? read more
