What was once a humble cart in eastern Queens has ballooned to a number of locations across the country and beyond, including this Shah's cart on the corner of 46th and Greenpoint Ave. The meteoric rise that Shah's has experienced over the years has been nothing short of impressive. If memory serves correctly, this cart started initially under the 7 train 46th Street station tracks before moving further into the Sunnyside Arch (#1). Since the name has taken off, even the cart looks different with bright colors and big branding. The good news is the food is still tasty. Most of the time, I tend to go for the evening hours when I might not be completely sober (#2) aiming for my go-to combination lamb and chicken over rice with a blanket slathering of white sauce and a dash of hot sauce. I also found the service to be friendlier at night with Muhammad (?). However, even during the daytime, the cart serves as an excellent lunch option. It's a different crew but the food is no less tasty. Different crowds are here at different times, so there are weights occasionally, but I found that the food has always been consistent without much of a wait. While the prices have gone up significantly due to foodflation, the portions have been consistently hearty. I have a feeling they accept credit card, but I always recommend paying in cash. I got the falafel over rice. It was good. I love how they offer you a variety of vegetables to add I got chickpeas, white onion, red onion and cucumber. There was lettuce. I opted out of the olives. And they said the white sauce is not tzatziki, but it's similar. It would be nice they made fresh tzatziki, but it sounds like it was premade, but then they have a variety of sauces that you can pick from. I went on a Friday evening. It was pretty empty, but there was a place to charge my phone. It's nice. It was clean in there. The halal food was good but I've had better. Basically the same setup as other locations with menu of chicken , lamb , fish , vegetarian via a rice platter or gyro or salad style . Chicken sandwiches , chicken cheese steak sandwiches , nuggets , fries , fried potato chips and more .Order to the left , tell them your toppings , move to the right and pay , eat it or grab and hit the road . I personally like the chicken cheese steak and chicken nuggets and the sweet prepacked baklava ain't bad as well. Always passed by it when I went on Greenpoint Ave. I see people ordering so I was very tempted to get a platter so finally got one. Customer service wasn't there, but the order was quick and cheap. I ordered the mixed combo platter with chicken & lamb. There isn't a size to choose from and it comes with a drink. All for just $8 which is super cheap especially for the portion size. I'm shocked, I haven't gotten anything from them before. I will come back and get a salad or gyro next time. read more

The food was pretty decent, the service was good, price was pretty good. I got a bowl with chicken, lamb, rice, white sauce, and barbecue sauce. My meal also came with a soda/drink of my choice. The options was pretty nice. And the portion was very good for the price. So overall my meal costed $8 and was really good and worth the money. The lamb tasted a bit chewy and artificial towards the bottom of my bowl but what do you really expect for such a cheap meal that can full your stomach twice. Overall really good, would recommend. Main reason I am giving 5 stars is cause of the price. They could have a better location instead of a food truck but apart from that I'd compare this place to a cheaper chipotle. Discovered Shah's a couple of weeks ago, and I think it's a close contender to Habiba B&B just down the street. Shah's has better hours, which is a plus, a free soda, and more often than not, better lamb. I'd say Habiba B&B's recipe for chicken is a bit better, and they give more voluminous amounts of food. Shah's also introduced some new items, like kebabs, that I've yet to try. Anyway, a very solid choice for halal. Better than any I've had in Manhattan. Now I understand why this food cart received great reviews. The food is really very good. Because of the reviews I told Hubby to get some for us on the way home. I ordered chicken over rice and Hubby got his favorite lamb gyro. The chicken and lamb were so tender. The taste was better than some restaurants that serve this type of food. We don't mind getting this food again if we feel like eating a Mediterranean style food. We did go back for the second time and I had a mixture of chicken and lamb over rice and hubby got the same lamb gyro. We also liked the hot sauce that we requested on the side. Sometimes something cheap brings happiness to the stomach, ho ho ho! Shah the food maker told us that this cart is opens all day and all night. Wow! Spot has a great tasting halal platter. The chicken is better than the lamb in my opinion. The lamb is generic. The white sauce is good as well. The portion isn't that big but it comes with a free soda/water and is only 7 bucks at the time of posting this review. Always on the hunt for the best halal truck and this is one of the best I've had. The chicken is well seasoned and the texture is on the drier side (which I like in halal) and the rice is really well seasoned as well. The rice is very cumin-y but lacked that turmeric that you see a lot of halal trucks put. I LOVED the rice and the white sauce really put it all together. Very bad.. The guy who makes food was not wearing mask and rather talking on the phone above the food.. I hope he keeps the basic manner at least when working at food related place. Plus, the owner who received my order didn't tell the guy who was working in the food truck, so the guy in food truck didn't make my food until I arrived, saying he didn't get my order. Even though I showed my order receipt through this app and my bank account to prove I ordered. He still keeps saying he doesn't have my order.
