Not really a review of the food, but an experience I had with the employees today: A friend and I decided to stop by Shake Shack for a quick bite and had to wait in line for a few minutes. While we were waiting, a middle-aged woman came through the door, Shake Shack bag and drunken milk shake in hand, and walked by the line right to the register. "How may I help you?" the cashier said. "I ordered this burger earlier and it turns out my daughter had actually wanted a hot dog so I was wondering if I could get a hot dog instead," the woman replied. She pulled out the burger and held it up to the cashier. My friend and I immediately looked at each other in disbelief. She cannot be serious. "Let me get my manager for you. I am not about our return policy" replied the cashier in a calm collected tone. The manager quickly came over and listened to the woman's story. "Of course, ma'am, we are sorry for the inconvenience. We will have a hot dog ready for you right away" said the store manager. Without even a slight look of embarrassment or remorse, the lady took the hot dog and left without even offering to pay for her mistake. She drove away in her Mercedes and the employees continued to work as if nothing had happened. My friend and I eventually got to the register and discussed the situation with the cashier. "Can I have a free meal as well?" my friend asked in a sarcastic tone. The cashier laughed and replied, "Hey man, Shake Shack is winning." "What do you mean?" we replied. "As long as we can make the customer happy and have them come back in the future, we are winning. No point in losing a customer over a cheap hot dog," he laughed. I have never had Shake Shack's food and I did not even order that day, but I plan on going back just because of what I saw today. Absolutely class act by the cashier and the manager. read more

Great food - Chicken Shack is awesome! Today I ordered one on the app and went to pick it up only to realize I had ordered from the Yonkers Restaurant. My screw up completely. The manager on duty understood and was kind enough to make one for me. He handled the situation very well - nice experience!! So disappointed in this Shake Shack, and their delivery partner, Grubhub. I ordered dinner tonight for my husband and I, and my burger was left out. I have celiac disease and was so looking forward to my burger on a gluten-free bun, but what's worse than missing out on my burger is that my dietary limitation means that I can't just find an easy alternative when my meal is missing. I called the manager's line and was unable to reach a live person, and Grubhub says that they don't redeliver. So to reorder my burger would have cost me $20. It is SO important to check orders before they go out, particularly for someone with a dietary restriction, and this Shake Shack location has just lost a loyal customer and her burger-obsessed husband. read more

I walked in and ordered a classic hotdog and fries with a shake. My order was ready no more than five minutes later, and I was very happy with the short wait time. Shake Shack has never made me wait before, but I feel like this branch was even faster. I was eating my juicy hotdog and amazing strawberry shake when a car accident occurred right outside my window. One of the waiters was a very kind and talkative man and he immediately started talking to my friend and I about it. He was very lively even though he had to work at a shake shack, and he had been working there at least since I was last at this branch about three years ago. Kudos to that waiter, who is always engaging in conversation, and kudos to the food, which was amazing. read more

I'm very picky as to where I eat & get my burgers from, which includes whether or not I will eat them at BBQ parties I attend. So while I love Shake Shacks burgers, I've noticed that when they serve them on the tray for in-service, the burgers are usually hanging off the edge of the trays, which we all know are germ filled devices. So please managers of SS, please don't allow this to happen anymore - the burgers itself should not be touching the trays. I checked into this spot for a second time after a terrific downtown Stamford concert. Jerry and another gentlemen were very kind and helpful with my order and again, I felt the hospitality there! This place is great and the whole staff always seems pleasant and happy. My girlfriend utilised the restroom and she mentioned how clean and tidy it was; the upkeep of this whole building is five stars. I again, am very excited and proud to post yet another review. My husband and I stopped through on our travels from MA to PA. We were so pleased to find this spot and cannot wait to go back. The burger was one of the best either of us have ever had... and we are burger connoisseurs! Juicy, perfectly made, absolutely delicious. We got a fried chicken sandwich as well. Similar to Chick Fil A but BETTER. Had a mild pickle adorning the sandwich. Also absolutely delicious. The third thing we ordered was a vanilla malt milkshake. Can you guess it? Delicious. It's so hard to find a perfect vanilla malt and this place has got it down pat. The service was quick and friendly, and the restaurant's eating area was clean and well laid-out. I liked the option of a higher table, because after driving several hours I could stand and eat! My only criticism is that the bathroom was not well kept. Excellent food. read more

This is the best Shake Shack I've visited, hands down. While on the road visiting family for the holidays, we look for quick, delicious food, and this is the top of the line: speedy service, absolutely delicious burgers and dogs, spotless eating area AND bathrooms, and two of the TVs tuned to kid-friendly programming on the weekend. The manager was bussing/sanitizing tables, and chatting with the guests the whole time we were there. We ordered several burgers, their phenomenal hot dog, and some fries, and everything is cooked to perfection: juicy, flavorful, and scrumptious. I Just stopped in to this location and I ordered a hamburger and an ice tea the worker ISAI told me to take the number go sit at a table and they would call me when it was ready so I waited several peoples names were called after waiting about 10 minutes I realized it never took this long before so I approached the counter and to my surprise my hamburger was sitting on the counter in view of other people that could contaminate it with germs the employee that placed my order was standing right next to it he never called me when I asked him -ISAI why wasn't I called he said oh we don't have someone at the counter right now we're busy. So I said well she that's not good customer service and he decided to ignore me I said excuse me I'm speaking with you he continued to ignore me so I asked for a manager he still ignored me and walked over to the cashier girl and I asked her for a refund and would like to speak with a manager. ISAI started laughing and found this to be quite funny. I complained and said his customer service skills are horrible he ignored me it wasn't till another employee said what's wrong with his order that's when he decided to engage and said he doesn't want it so I told him to mind his own business at this point don't get involved because you rudely ignored me when I ask for a refund. Needless to say it's a horrible customer service experience. Who wants to have a cold hamburger when you're paying for hot one I would not recommend this location whatsoever unless they teach better customer relations skills read more

I was in there today, for the 1st time, around noon. it was fairly quiet. 20 minutes later, you couldn't get a seat. My buddy & I separately placed our orders at 12:10. He got his around 12:20. I got mine around 12:35. 25 minutes waiting! Mine was gluten-free but I can't imagine that adds the extra minutes. The burger & fries were very good.....but not worth the wait. I do like that they have a calorie list. Burger was 550 and the fries are 420. Wow, when you factor in I had bacon added, that takes it over 1,000 calories. What is it with Shake Shack and parking? I guess because it started in the city and parking isn't a consideration there. The one in Westport has the same problem. The parking lots are too small. They either need to choose a bigger lot next time or expand the parking lot. Too narrow and too small for the number of customers. I know it's opening week. I'd give them the benefit of the doubt if Westport didn't have the same problem. I came here with my parents and a family friend on a Saturday afternoon. We got here at about 4:30pm, so luckily, we missed the dinner rush. There is plenty of parking, but I could see how the parking lot could get full if Shake Shack was really crowded. The staff was very friendly and a gentleman named Wayne took our orders. He was very friendly and even joked around with us while we ordered. I got the single ShackBurger, which came with cheese, lettuce, tomato and Shack Sauce. I also ordered a small lemonade, which was fresh squeezed and refreshing. We also shared an order of fries. Everything was fresh and delicious and our order was ready fairly quickly. I was impressed by all the condiments and utensils they have out for the customers to take. They definitely aren't stingy with these. Seating was readily available and we watched the kids play a bean bag toss game outside while we ate. This Shake Shack location is clean, spacious and has friendly staff. I even thought the bathroom was clean and well-maintained. I'll be back, Shake Shack burgers are my favorite! read more

So happy we finally have one in Darien (in between the Whole Foods and the library). Parking is usually not that bad and it's always been relatively quick from order to the time food is ready. Suggest adding chicken nuggets and something even relatively healthy for the moms (does not need to be a salad), seems like a miss to not have these options in an affluent suburban location. A few breakfast options would also make sense (okay, maybe asking for too much now). Otherwise it's good for what it is- shakes and burgers. read more

This evening, we decided to visit the Darien Shake Shack. What a mistake! We ordered six burgers, and it took them about a half hour to get six burgers out. Mind you, people that came after us and placed smaller orders got their food before us. There was no sense of urgency amongst the staff. Bottom line, I will NEVER come to this location again. I'll go to the Westport location as to not wait 30 minutes for HAMBURGERS that were Luke warm at best. This location needs training on how to get food out of the kitchen in a timely fashion. I waited in line for at least 10 minutes. After ordering I waited at least 30 minutes and finally asked for a refund. People ahead of me in line still hadn't gotten their food. There were about 20 staff members there mostly not being directed efficiently . On top of that the manager calculated my refund incorrectly and cheated me out of several dollars. I'm a local resident and voted to have shake shack in our town, what a mistake. Went in on 3/3/17 at about 12:30. Used the Ladies restroom, first mistake, two employees in there using the F word over and over about some other employee, and the bathroom was a mess. I felt like they had made the mess in an attitude of I just don't care? Ordered two burgers and fries and two beers, food was ok but the place was a mess, dirty tables all around.
