I walked into Brendan's 101 earlier this week. Although the food and staff were lovely as always, I have a complaint to make. IT IS TOO HOT and we haven't reached peak summer yet. I was ok in the area i was seated but I could see the staff trying their best to cool off on their iwn and uncomfortable because of the heat. I believe the employees should be comfortable as they are as important as the costumers. There are multiple AC units at the restaurants yet it does not feel like it whatsoever. I will continue to return in hopes of this issue being fixed as i believe it is unfair to staff. Do better Brendan! read more

was so excited to try this place until we got home to try our food and saw the chicken cutlet sandwich that we ordered with lettuce tomato mozzarella salt pepper and roasted red peppers, was only 2 small pieces of cutlet drenched in mayonaise. it had maybe 2 pieces of mozzarella, even still it was seriously inedible and we also paid 25$ for that along with a bec w/ hashbrown, only for it to be unseasoned homefries without them mentioning that they do not have hashbrowns. it was so disappointing and the people at the counter look at you as if they dont know what youre there for. 0/10 read more

Little country market with both indoor and outdoor seating. Their ice cream is very good and it is from a place called "Jerry's Creamery", which is the restaurant brand of Ben and Jerry's . Apparently "Jerry was the ice cream guru and Ben did the marketing". They have a decent amount of ice cream flavors, however they did not have my go-to flavor, chocolate chip, so I had to go with cookie dough chocolate chip. This flavor was very good, and their was a ton of cookie dough in it, however their was very little chocolate chips in it. The downside of this place is that the scoops here are tiny and, when I went at least, the cones were very stale. Ice Cream Quality: 9/10 Overall: 6/10 read more

Not pleased. The man behind the counter was nothing short of rude & curt. I ordered a small w hot fudge. Lame ratio as I had a golf ball sized scoop drowned in fudge. Then, he asked if I "needed anything else- a spoon?" Um, seriously? "Ah yes, I need a spoon." Jerk. The ice cream was just ok. $5 for that & rude treatment. Great hidden gem - if you know, you know! Love their breakfast bagel sandwiches, lunch hoagies, and of course the ice cream. Plus, they do a lot of community give back and event sponsorships, vs The Market down the street who does big business but isn't sponsoring events. Sandwiches are always fresh and consistently good. I love the Sweet William burger for the onion rings alone! Love the fries too. We ordered takeout here a few times when my sister's family was Quarintined with us. The only reason why I'm not giving 5 stars was the mahi mahi my BIL ordered was way overcooked. My sister loved her salmon though and the lobster club!? So. Good! Generously big sandwich. Always great service, ice cream and sandwiches. I'm so glad they're hanging in there during the pandemic! This is an adorable little deli in Rowayton (also known as norwalk) CT. They have really great fries and burgers here. Also they serve ice cream, bagels, sandwiches, salads, cupcakes, scones, brownies, cookies and filet mignon (crazy right?). I got the california burger which consists of cheese, lettuce, tomato, avocado & mayo. It was awesome. Not to mention they give you a huge amount of fries so if there's only two of you I would recommend only getting one order. This place is also teeny tiny. If your lucky you might be able to snag a seat inside or outside but if your coming during the rush don't count on it. We came here by boat (where there is no parking) so I'm not sure on the car parking situation. It's a nice little area to take a stroll in when it's a decent day out. My husband and I stopped here while we were at an outdoor concert in Pinkley Park in Rowayton. By the way, let me just point out that Rowayton has FREE concerts on weekends during summer...something cool to check out. And I'm pretty sure Brendans 101 sponsors these concerts. Anyway, back to my review.... I got a combo club sandwich that was turkey and roast beef, Swiss and spicy mayo and spicy honey mustard. My husband got a turkey and Swiss and we shared fries. It was all very tasty. Nothing extraordinarybut we were satisfied and enjoyed sitting outside in front. Later we went back and got milkshakes. I got coffee...yummy. Really fantastic ice cream. It's as simple as that. The staff behind the counter is so friendly and adorable, they are always smiling. I have yet to ask for anything but a small ice cream cone, but this place should be kept in business based on ice cream, alone. Situated right on the harbor/dock, it makes for the perfect setting to grab a scoop of Major McKinley Mint Chip or Strawberry with Chocolate Jimmies (what do you people call it down here... sprinkles?), and go walk among the boats. There isn't too much of a pier, but it's still a pretty sight. Anyway, back to Brendans. Their baked goods look plump and fresh, their sandwiches light but filling. It could be an awesome small town know everyone place but instead it's just an overpriced sandwich shop / ice cream shop that makes Sammie's that are too small for the price and the attitude of the people that work there is, well, as if they are tired of dealing with people with entitlement issues. I just stopped by to get some sun and coffee. I ended up buying a mozarrella, tomatoes, pesto sandwich but no coffee. I can't even explain how good the sandwich was, the bread was crispy and soft. It was such a good sandwich. I'm questioning my sanity here because the ingredients are simple but the bread really blew it out of the water. I ate my sandwich by the dock, it's beautiful. Parking seemed to suck but I parked in an illegal spot bc I saw locals do it too. I'm a sheep! read more

When my family of five ordered dinner here tonight, my daughter's chicken came out rubbery and bland, with freezer burn and none of the lemon sauce it was supposed to have. They offered to add sauce after we complained, but the chicken itself was so unappealing that we just sent it back instead. But the cashier still insisted on charging us for it at the end: "I'm not the one who cooked it, so it's not my fault it tasted bad." Major disappointment in the service and the policy on returned items. Stick to ice cream and burgers. We've always had a fine experience with those. read more

I'm not a huge fan of deli sandwiches. They're usually pretty boring and uninspired. Not so at Brendan's 101. I often get the Veggie Montage, with peppers, mushrooms, sprouts, muenster cheese and a great dill mayo, served warm on toasted pita. Or, the spinach, mushrooms and mozarella with balsamic vinegar. And then there's the Major McKinley Mint ice cream, which has Junior Mints... I don't indulge often, but when I do, it's perfection. This is a cute little place in a cute little town. read more

Went here for lunch. Server was really nice and brought out our food. I ordered a sausage with peppers and onion sandwich which I was disappointed with. I was expecting a sandwich with sausage like kielbasa or link sausage instead it was like breakfast sausage like jimmy dean. I was at Pinkey park. In the Rowayton Connecticut today and it was for Shakespeare on the sound. It was 9:45. There was a young gentleman and a young lady had the money in her hand still I went to go get ice cream and she said oh were closed. I think it's so unprofessional. But the guy thinks it's OK to park in a no parking zone. She is so rude disrespectful and out of his mind if you think he's going to get service. I'm not going back to his shop ever again. If you want a really good ice cream place go to Saugatuck sweets in Fairfield Connecticut or Westport Connecticut. You will be treated with the outmost respect. A "go to" independent neighborhood ice cream shop. Yes, it's a deli, too, but In my 16 years of going there, I've only ever gotten ice cream. They source the ice cream from Lawtons. They have unique names and some unique flavors. My particular favorite is Uncle Kimo's: coconut ice cream with dark chocolate flakes and almonds. The sugar cones are quite good--more flavorful than what you would get at a typical chain. Prices as of this writing are $3 for a kid cone (1 scoop), $4 for small (2 scoops) and $5 for large (you guessed it, 3 scoops). What would make this a 5 star review? PARKING. There is none--unless you come by boat. And a smile from the scooper. read more

I usually pick up when ordering from Brendan's and they never fail to satisfy. While they can be a little expensive for some basic foods, it's totally worth it. My favorite item to get from here would be whole wheat bread with egg, cheese and turkey. I would recommend grabbing a bite here if you're ever in Rowayton. read more
