Thanksgiving Sub however they didn't add stuffing or cranberry sauce smh
    Melissa E.

Ordering from this location through third party is not the move. My order is either completely wrong, or cold, sloppy and unacceptable to consume. Today I ordered the limited Thanksgiving sub, with stuffing and cranberry sauce. I received a dry sub, with just turkey. Disappointed is an understatement. How is this location still operating so poorly. I don't like driving to the actual location because it's so inconvenient so I'll have to stick with Jimmy John's or Jersey Mikes when I want a sub.

    New York Steamer

Spent 52$ on 2 subs and 2 mac n cheese Subs barley had anything on them i had to change my order 4 times due to them being out of almost everything. The two employees turned customers away at 8:15 due to them closing at 9:00 then continued talking about the customers as they walked out irritated. I will only eat here again if the manager is working he has always insured everything is done correct and everyone's happy

Hook & Ladder Salad with no flash

Decided to get a salad to have for lunch during my work day and settled on the Hook & Ladder. The food was picked up the night before by my mom so I didn't see it until pulling it out for lunch the next day. It was full of toppings such as cucumber, cheese, peppers and tomato. Underneath a MOUNTAIN of meat and very little lettuce that was mostly stems. First and last time getting a salad from this place. While it was packed in the bowl, which is nice, there was entirely too much meat for me to enjoy it.

I love firehouse subs and I loved this location. The servers are so nice and the location is well kept. As a franchise, firehouse subs is reasonably priced. But this establishment is polite and well kept. There was ample parking as well as seating. Kudos to one of the employees, the name said Jonathan on our receipt. He was very social and engaging. My fiance and I went on a weeknight and there was no line and the service was quick. He orders the Engineer and I ordered the Turkey Bacon Ranch on wheat. We both agreed the TBR was better than the Engineer. I'm not sure if all the locations have this, but they had a cute kids corner. My only issue was my failure to notice the display of available sauces. I wish I saw this sooner to be able to try them with my sub. Otherwise, everything was on point. Can't wait for my next visit. Until next time, ring the alarm because this place is on fire!

The Castellano had a crisped pile of gorgeous beef, with crispy fries, and super fresh veggies (basically a cheeseburger on a sub). My husband ordered this one, so I didn't taste it personally but he absolutely LOVED it. The Thommy, The Three Fingers is a chopped cheese. It's, by god, the best I've ever had in my life. I add peppers, provolone and mayo and an extra side of tzatziki (labeled garlic cucumber on the menu), and oil and vinegar (which tastes like Italian dressing, but who's counting?). The bread is phenomenal. I may literally just order a sub roll with no ingredients one day, just so I can eat it toasted with butter, with every meal I have. It's soft and fluffy, crispy and chewy all at the same time. (It almost gives bagel, but not tough). I also got the y cheesecake. Not as special, perhaps from the Cysco truck (iykyk), but I still bought it and scarfed it down. Strawberry topping was def the average canned-strawberry topping (but I personally love that). I cannot stress, the food is OUT OF THIS WORLD! As for service, the entire team is so friendly and helpful. They kid around, make silly jokes and make sure your order is prepared fresh and fast. It isn't "fast food fast", but also doesn't taste like shit either, so the wait is worth it. At most 10-15 min if you don't call ahead. As for seating, in winter there are only two two-tops so seating is extremely limited. It is mostly a deli-and-get-outta-here kind of place, but nonetheless welcoming and charming. They have tons of Italian memorabilia all over the walls including giant GodFather posters, taxi plates and more. Today was my first time inside, but I've had my husband go pick up food several times on the way home. I cannot live without one of these subs AT MINIMUM once a month.

Capo Italian Deli - Old Town Alexandria…read more I reviewed our new Old Town neighbor - Capo Italian Deli - early in 2026. Time for an update. The deli is outstanding. Taking up a tiny footprint on the N. Washington Avenue thoroughfare, a few seconds from King Street, the deli delivers both hot and cold deli entrees, soft drinks, and salads. There's maybe half a dozen tables inside and a couple of tables outside, but from what I have seen thus far, most of the trade is with carry-out service, drawing from the excellent reputation Capo brought with it as it arrived in Old Town (the restaurant has siblings in Shaw NW, and Western Market in the District, Tyson's Corner in Vienna, VA, Annapolis and Potomac, MD). Fresh Philly rolls for those seeking a traditional hero sandwich, with go-to seasonings and all of the essential protein groups. My favorite is a large half roast beef half turkey with lettuce, tomato, and mayo (I skip the Italian dressing, which is part of the default, and I skip the cheese). I can and have made this $18 sandwich last three meals (so I ask them to cut the sandwich into three pieces), and the ingredients stay fresh for the next 24 hours. The last time I did this the sandwich fed me from 4:45 a.m. to 9 p.m., as I served as an election officer at one of Alexandria's polling places. Neat, trim, and completely satisfying. Just a point of concern: given its location, the opportunity to double-park while picking up an order seems to be just too tempting. This location, however, cannot over the long term sustain double-parkers. The deli is about 100 feet from the intersection of King Street and N. Washington Street. There is a dedicated lane for cars seeking to park adjacent to the deli. And then there are two northbound lanes on N. Washington Street. That's it - just two lanes serving one of the busiest intersections in Old Town. If a delivery-service car pulls up alongside one of the parked cars, all hell will break loose by drivers who suddenly find a delivery vehicle double-parking in front of Capo, leaving but one northbound lane open for however long it takes for the delivery agent to gather the order and beat it out of there. This happens with remarkable frequency, starting at about 11 a.m. and running throughout the day. That's not going to make good neighbors of Capo's nearby shops. Alexandria Parking has its work cut out for it, but here the rule prohibiting double-parking has to be enforced - it's both a safety issue and an issue of common courtesy. Doesn't matter if you think you'll just be in and out of the deli in seconds. We know it doesn't work that way, not always, and here - not even often. More often than not the double-parker will be creating a traffic hazard just by parking alongside a parked car in front of the deli. Please, don't do this.

This review is based solely on the customer service I received over the phone…read more I had placed a $62 order through DoorDash and chose Capo even though there are plenty of other deli spots nearby, because they normally make really good sandwiches. Unfortunately, the customer service this time was extremely disappointing. I called with a simple question about the bread since I have braces and needed something soft. The person who answered the phone was rude and dismissive, acting as if my call was an inconvenience. When I asked which bread was the softest, he cut me off to say they were "super busy" and could only change the bread on one sandwich, not both. I asked again for clarification, and he continued sounding irritated and uninterested in helping. He repeated that they had a line of people and needed to know which one sandwich I wanted to change. For the amount I paid, the lack of basic courtesy and willingness to answer a straightforward question was unacceptable. This will be my last time ordering from Capo in Alexandria, VA.

Last night I was going to fix it for dinner when I opened it the ham has a very thick slimy and gooey. So I went in and spoke with the manager told him about it first thing he asked for is a receipt, no I don't but it has your pricing sticker you can see I purchased it here. He wouldn't even look at it just wanted a receipt, said he could look it up if I used a charge card. I shop here a few times a week, I hardly ever purchase meat ahead of time to use later except for bacon I get 5lbs at a time and meat like the packaged ham steaks or whole yams that have a longer use by date for planned ahead meals , I stop in pickup what ever meat I'm fixing for dinner that night. This is the second time since this store has opened up that a meat I purchased from here had an issue with it and this was the first time I was asked for a receipt. I've been shopping at a Nicks since I was a kid my grandmother use to take me to the one in Clinton once a week, then when I started working I would stop in Nicks of Clinton to get a sub for lunch. It was really nice when the one opened in St-Charles off of Rt 5 and Mattawoman-Beantown Rd. I started purchasing meat for my own family and then this one opened in Calvert made it even more convenient to shop at. I guess I'll have to learn to take a picture of my receipt from here in case this happens again or I can just continue to be a loyal shopper here and just take the loss and move on. I'm not going to stop shopping here since this is only the 2nd time getting a bad product for as long as I've been a shopping at a Nick's.
