They should rename the "char-burger" to the "dry-burger". I had the quarter pounder and it was dead and gone. The patty was so dry and flavorless. The bun was nothing special, seems like a cheap grocery store bun. They gave me the top of a tomato with a stem on it and they put about 100 white onions on my burger too. The fries are actually hand cut and tasty. They remind me of 5 Guys fries. But, the fries shouldn't be better than the burger. Sorry, but we won't be back. read more

Searched the web for a place that served turkey burgers within walking distance of my job and found Foster's grille. So convenient and homey! The staff (and who I thought were owners) are all attentive, patient and friendly. Of course I got the burger with fries and you can taste the fresh cut potatoes (before I even saw the 100 lb bag of potatoes)! We stopped in after a day in Virginia. Foster's has both inside and outside seating and a bar. I'm not sure if they just serve beer or it's a full bar. The menus are paper slips that you fill out and give to the bar tender. Sandwiches, burgers & salads. I had the steak and cheese combo. The fries are potatoes that are cut fresh daily. The atmosphere is pretty cool. They have a race car frame and a model plane hanging from the ceiling. A wall near the restroom has small model planes all over it. See the picture. The location is great. Very convenient. Walking distance from Metro, AMC, and several apartment complexes, plenty of parking (but spaces very narrow and close together). Inside is industrial and casual. The place looked very clean when I was there. I got app ordered take out so the service I can't say. I got the "famous" hot dog. It was the only item I got and I severely disliked it and will not get it again. However, I will go back and try some other items and sit down with friends after a movie. read more

This eatery is by far the best place for eating Buffalo Wings and fries. I'm from Upstate New York and have eaten these Buff Wing me whole lol . Fosters does it exactly like BFLO NY. They'll even give you all flats for $2 bucks. Grill marks and wet wings are no problem for this place. This place is clean and well kept with sports television on each TV. Coming here is like being at home with you family at a BBQ. Walked in by chance and so glad I did. This in assuming gem is amazing. The chargrilled flavor on the burgers really comes through. The restaurant while eclectically adorned with street signs and mirrors has a fluid feel. The menus is pretty simple and very customizable. We came here in a large school group (37 people!!) and the staff was super accommodating! They had our orders out quickly and everyone was very happy with their food! Great customer service and delicious food! I highly recommend the burger with onion rings. I used to like fosters. But now it's very generic and expensive. I got a burger, chili cheese fries and a tea. 33 bucks. Everything is very meh. The chili on the fries tasted like it was from a cheap can in the grocery store. The cheese tastes like what 7 eleven gives you for free when you buy a hot dog. It's just not worth that money. This place is clean and the staff is friendly but the food? I could have had a steak dinner down the street for LESS money. I'm just so disappointed. For fast food, I actually really like Foster's. Their wings are extra crispy (without me having to ask for them that way) and their French fries are fresh and delicious. None of that frozen junk. They do also have a happy hour which includes draft beer and 70 cent wings up until 7pm on weekdays. I have definitely become a regular here. This was my first time trying Foster's Grille and I loved it! The person who greeted us and took our order was very friendly and welcoming. He explained how to order and helped us get everything ordered. I ordered 6 hot boneless wings (yes... I'm that person) - they were good and decently sized! I always brake for Charburgers. Foster's cooks over a charcoal-style grille and this is a sure sign their burgers will be great. I haven't been disappointed on many visits. Just ask for the burger to be cooked a little pink. Otherwise it will be well done. The skin-on fries are absolutely excellent, and generous. Many burger toppings, great fountain drinks and iced tea. This was my favorite place for lunch when on March 3, 2020 I took my son who was in town for business after been gone 2 years for dinner. I sold him on "the best burgers in town" and soon I was embarrassed. It was no longer a 1st class grill. The burgers were the frozen type and they were raw in the center. The fries, also not their best. I have not gone back since, and I forgot to complete my review. On that they, they had a bus full of students and I wonder if they were serving frozen burgers to the students and I was caught in the service. Anyhow, it doesn't excused them. I was in Alexandria for 2 weeks for work and stayed next door to Foster's. First night I went in to check it out and ended up going in 8 out of 10 days. The owner, Bruce, was the friendliest person I've met in a bar/restaurant setting in years. Mike, the manager was just as friendly. The food was quick even when they were busy. Food was fantastic. Burgers A+++, fries and onion rings A+++, wings A+++. Beer was cold and well priced. If you're in the neighborhood and want to sit down at a customer friendly place with great simple food, cold beer & the game on multiple TV's... this is the place. If I'm ever back in the area, I will absolutely be going back. 10/10 recommend this place over any fancy place in town. read more

Fosters Grille : The Good: The place has a.cool, funky look with an open kitchen so you can watch them grill your burger. The menu is a sushi-style where you tic the boxes of what you want for your meal. Again not a bad thing. The atmosphere of this bar is its most appealing feature, for it is casual and easy. This is a great place to catch a game, and with $2 happy hour beers, you really can't go wrong. The Bad: The service really needs work here. When I entered, Foster's Grille had a bunch of off duty employees or friends of the staff just hanging out. Now, this wouldn't have been so bad, but they weren't drinking or eating and they were taking up prime bar real estate so that it was rather hard to find a seat. And I will admit, it is kind of intimidating to come upon a group that has staked the bar out as their territory. This may also have contributed to the slow service, for their were times that I waited on a beer for about 5-6 minutes and I was the only one drinking at the bar. The Ugly: The food was a bit ugly, but this isn't necessarily a bad thing as ugly food that is messy can be fun. However, in this case, the ugly consisted in a burger that was burned through and through and soggy chili fries. Again, not the worst thing in the world, but with a little more care in the preparation, my burger and chili fries could have been really delicious and not just ok. I really don't wish to mean here, but it was kind of like eating high school cafeteria food. However, just like Clint Eastwood always seems to find himself seeking justice in a Spaghetti Western, I'm fairly certain that I will revisit this chuck wagon grille again..But hopefully my next Fosters Grille experience wont feel like I'm being bushwhacked with mediocre service and off the mark food. I hope so, because this place has a lot of potential. read more

Always in search of a good burger. This one did not disappoint. Really nice char on it, and it was juicy without being greasy. I got to select just the toppings I wanted (cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle). The bun was uninspiring but held everything together well. Burger could have been just slightly more pink inside but I'm not complaining. Fries - not a big fan of their hand-cut style because I like mine crispy - but they tasted decent and were plentiful. I went to the 7Eleven next door to the Foster Grille yesterday and they have at least 50 tables set beside the 7Eleven so I got food from there and saw all the tables I sat down to eat a bite tired from working all day the guy comes out of the Grille tells me "sir you have to leave" first of all I'm not a SIR I'm a female and he was rude as hell when nobody was sitting out there but myself. Very much having a taste for a good burger we decided to order take out at Fosters. The app was very easy to use and gave a time when I order was to be ready. I arrive about five minutes early, but it took about five minutes passed my given time for my order to be ready, although the management was very pleasant. I had a Charburger and it was a great burger with very fresh toppings. They gave us plenty of fries with our order and thye were very good fresh cut potatoe fries. Have always liked Foster's Grill. Food is good and the help is very courteous. When we go (8 of us) we always order hot dogs. The problem is they always put the condiments on the roll first and the hot dog on the top. Every time you go to bite it the roll falls apart. I have repeatedly told the server to have them put the hot dog on the roll first with condiments on top of the dog. This happens every time we go, even though we remind them! I am not a huge fan of Foster's, its kind of like Five Guys (which I do like), only they have a bigger menu, and their fries actually stay warm. It is amazing that each location I have been to has been as different as the other, yeah weird I know. This location had a good sandwich and good fries, except the fries were heavily salted and the grilled chicken sandwich was a bit bland (I got it with Buffalo sauce). Honestly, the one in Manassas across from the train station has been my favorite still. They put just the right amount of fries (and seasoning on them at that), and their entrees were perfectly cooked. I would have given this location 4/5 if it weren't for those two things. Maybe I'm raising the bar for what's supposed to be a decent lunch place, but here, it is a 3 star review, A-OK. The location is great though. Its walking distance from the Eisenhower Ave. metro stop and across the street from the U.S. Patent Office. The lines were already starting to form around noon (I had similar experiences at the other locations), so obviously this location is popular.
