I had to try the new Shake Shack in the 3rd Ward. It's pretty much exactly like all of them throughout the country minus the long lines... So that was a pleasant surprise. Nice and clean, but quite a bit smaller dining room than I was expecting. No big deal there though, there were plenty of open seats at my 1:30pm late lunch. I ordered a plain-old hot dog and cheese fries along with a big coke. That came out to a tad bit over $10. A little on the high side in my opinion, but not completely outlandish. While I was waiting for my food to get cooked I noticed that the dining attendant was going around to all of the tables asking if they'd like water while they waited or to wipe down the tables before they sat. He was absolutely fantastic... I'd say the highlight of my time there. The food was pretty good. The hot dog was split down the middle and cooked like an old diner. It brought back some good memories from the classic diners. The cheese fries were a miss for me. Maybe being from Wisconsin has me spoiled with cheese, but the combo wasn't a good one for my taste buddies. Good Coca-Cola though! Overall it was pretty average. I'm glad I gave it a shot, but it won't be making my normal rotation for lunch stops. read more

Before even getting to the restaurant, have to find a place to park. Which if you dont want to pay $5 for parking at the parking garage a couple blocks down, it can be very difficult to find street parking. After figuring that out my daughter and I had lunch. I got a bacon cheese burger and fries with standard drink. My daughter ordered one of their named burgers and it turned out to be the same burger! But the charged me more for hers since it had a name to it! I didnt care for that... she got a chocolate shake, it was very chocolatey! But good! The place has more room for in coming customers than a dining room, not a deal breaker since they have enough seating. A few bits into my burger and it reminded me of Culver's! It was very good! But I wouldn't know the difference if both were in front of me. All in all I enjoyed my experience and the food. If I'm in the third ward again, I may stop by. read more

Was craving burgers so we thought we try it! We ordered soy free fries which are on the menus. Our Grubhub driver arrived at the store and was told they couldn't fill our order! They don't have soy free fries!! We still wanted burgers but was very disappointed that they couldn't fulfill our order when it was off their menus. We will not return to this venue or order again. Let me start by saying that the customer service was GREAT, but I won't be back!!! I took a friend there anticipating something wonderful, but all we got was less than tasty overpriced food and drink. At $15 for the bottle of prosecco wine, I expected it to be a bigger bottle and actually taste like prosecco - BIG DISAPPOINTMENT. The single Shackburger and bacon fries were not good at all - the burger was so little they should be ashamed and the chicken sandwich that my friend had was also small and not good to eat. The fries were covered with some sort of nasty, cold cheese spread, but the bacon on the mess was really good! I paid $32 for 2 sandwiches, bacon & cheese fries, and the little bitty bottle of wine and I am still unhappy...never again! I've had good experiences at other Shake Shack locations, so I was a little disappointed when my experience in the 3rd Ward did not live up to my expectations. It could have just been an isolated issued, but my food was not warm and there was a mistake in our order. Even though the restaurant was not particularly busy, the kitchen seemed to be a little chaotic. In general though, Shake Shack has some good food. I'm especially fond of their Blueberry and Sweet Corn shake when that's available. read more

I noticed that Shake Shack had an end of 2018 promotion for a free burger ($6 credit) if $10 dollars is spent online through their site or mobile app. Ordered through the app and was texted that my food was ready for pickup at 451 pm. Showed up at 503 PM. Chaos. After ten minutes at the pickup counter the guy asked for my order and I showed him. 30 minutes passed before he came back to me and I had to show him again. Stopped in for the first time a couple days ago. A single cheeseburger fries and a large drink cost almost $14 including tax. The burger tasted good but was undersized, about 2/3 the size of Culver's. The fries were warm, not hot, and identical to what you get at culvers. The drink, a ginger raspberry lemonade, was really good but sadly the cup was 2/3 ice, And it cost about 3 1/2 dollars. All in all I thought the food tasted good but undersized and overpriced. Oh boy. Well, I was excited to try Shake Shack, and decided to try it out on a random Saturday when the Public Market was packed. A few things... the food was pretty good. The service was ABYSMAL. Horrible horrible horrible service. Their menu had ONE beer type listed. The cashier asked what beer we wanted? Huh? And then we told her (literally reading off the board). She continued on with our order but never once telling us there were other options. After a solid 15 minutes no beer. We go to ask about it - and she said "oh we don't have THAT beer (the only one listed!!!!) but we have these other ones... what?? You didn't think to tell us or check when we asked you? It was so weird & offputting. At the very least - the cashiers should know what is on the menu! Then, one of the people in my group ordered the mushroom burger - and didn't get that. She got a burger on a half of a bread bun? By then there was a huge line so she just picked it off. The food was pretty good, but dang - they really need to step up their service game. read more

This was our first visit to Shake Shack. I had high expectations considering all the hype before it opened up. The concept is similar to Five Guys except with a lot more options, including beer and wine. So the deal is these are NY burgers? Above average, yes. Not the best though. And rather small for the price. I imagine the high rent in the 3rd ward has something to do with that. As far as chains go Culvers and Five Guys still has them beat. Locally Kopps has them all beat. That said Shake Shack is well worth stopping at if you want burgers and fries but don't feel like spending $50 in one of the trendy area sit down restaurants. Great fries. Crispy and good flavor. I'd go back in just for those if we're in the 3rd ward. As someone else said the beer choices were limited and a bit on the pricey side for what they are. But I appreciated having the option. I'm not a chain anything fan, but Shake Shack changed my mind. Menu is pretty limited but that's ok. I got bbq bacon cheeseburger double with tomato, lettuce and pickle on gluten free bun. I got the bbq bacon cheese fries on the side. Sure, the burgers are more expensive but you're getting high quality, local meat. My burger was fantastic. I liked it way better than Kopps burgers. The fries were perfectly seasoned and crispy. Of course I did not try a shake. Maybe another time. I will definitely eat here again. read more

Horrible horrible horrible! Absolutely disgusting! When I walked in the place it was very cold, and unwelcoming. I quickly realized it was a hamburger place so I tried to find the most healthy thing on the menu. I ordered a Portabella mushroom sandwich. It was processed gross Patty of shrooms that was breaded and deep-fried to a crisp. Might as well have opened up a bottle of oil and poured it down my throat. After a lot of hype, I was underwhelmed by the burger. The good part of the burger is that it's not highly caloric and isn't greasy. The negatives are the size and the blandness. The best way to describe this place is: an over-priced Culver's. They have burgers, hot dogs, fries, shakes and frozen custard. Everything is a la carte, and it's pricier than your average burger/frozen custard joint. The staff does not know their products! I was ordering a hamburger and was trying to decide between the single patty or the double. I asked if the single patty is 1/4 pound, making the double a half pound burger. The answer I got was, "I don't know." That was the end of the conversation. I was really surprised. I was, at least, expecting something like, 'let me ask my supervisor, or the cooks, or someone who might know.' But, no, I was offered no answer to my question. I ended up just choosing the single hamburger, which costs $4.79. I added bacon, for another $1.75, and I got a bottle of water, for $2.40. The burger was quite small; definitely less than a 1/4 pound. It tasted fine, but it was so small that I was left unsatisfied because I was still hungry. I was also disappointed that I bought a bottle of water. When you walk over to the self-serve condiment station, they have triple-filtered water on tap for everyone free of charge. Had I known this, I could've saved the $2.40 on the bottle of water. Bottom line.. I spent $9 and left hungry. Not a win for me. read more

I don't really eat burgers, but they have a very good chicken sandwich and delicious, old school crinkly fries. The ice cream was good, but very thick and a little hard to eat. I was such a pain and she just took all my questions with such kindness and she was so welcoming. I hope I see her again, but she's going places so who knows. Order consisted of: Chicken Shack Fries Peanut Butter shake Shake Shack has become somewhat of a ritual whenever I'm in Chicago so having one in Milwaukee is a great relief, now I can eat it every other day and not every other month. I usually get the Smoke Shack burger with the peppers because it's amazing but my other go to is the Chicken Shack. I hesitate to say it's the best fast food chicken sandwich but it's definitely back and forth between Shake Shack and Chick-Fil-A. Crinkle cut fries similar to a local legend but I have to say I think I prefer Shake Shack. Their fries are just so crisp and perfectly salted. I've never really been a big shake kinda guy. I like my beverages more liquidy if that makes sense. Shakes are delicious but they're too thick to really quench my thirst. But if there was ever a shake to change my mind it would be the peanut butter shake. This shake tastes EXACTLY like peanut butter Capt'n Crunch (which may have started my current peanut butter obsession). It's got this texture to it that is just so perfect for a shake to have. Order it. It was very cool to be able to go to Shake Shack on my home turf. Was lucky to attend the Friends and Family soft opening last night. We arrived about 5:45pm and there was a short line. Nice greeting and welcome from the folks manning the door and taking the invites. The line moved pretty quickly, it helped that they were handing out menus so that people were prepared to order when they got to that point. I was very impressed to see that this fast growing chain is using local products where they can, Usinger's, Sprecher Rootbeer, Spotted Cow, HoneyPie, and Rocket Baby. Some of this is highlighted on the menu board, but not all of them, I think it would help going forward to make sure all of these items are highlighted. Ordering was very straight forward and the cashier was very nice. I observed many workers in the kitchen busy preparing food and drinks. I ordered the standard Shake Shack burger, cheese fries and a strawberry shake. My sister ordered the chicken sandwich fries and the Black and White shake. Food came out in a timely manner, I thought considering it was busy and their first night, they did well with that. Their burger is great tasting, mine was cooked to medium, but I am not sure that is their typical standard, or because it was busy it came out this way, I was fine with it. Cheese fries were great, their sauce is the real deal, no overly orange colored, fake stuff here. Strawberry shake was good, could have used a bit more strawberry flavor. My sister thought the chicken sandwich was excellent, better than Chik-fil-a, she also enjoyed her shake, nice balance of vanilla and chocolate. Luckily we had found a table to sit at, there actually is not much seating here, probably since they produce food pretty quickly, they can get plenty of turns. Hopefully they will have outside seating in the warmer months. We had an employee offer to take our trays and asked us how we enjoyed our meal, that was great to see. Having attended events like this before and opened several restaurants myself, I was surprised that there was not more interaction in the dining area from the managers and corporate folks on hand. New concept, new market, this is when you usually put some energy in to following up with customers and thanking them, creating that exceptionally positive experience. Most people will like and appreciate the quality food at Shake Shake, it does bring something in the Third Ward that is currently not offered. But in a town with great burger choices, I wonder if locals in Milwaukee will give this the cult like status it has elsewhere and stand in long lines to get it, or will they head to another local favorite, where they can likely belly up to the bar while they wait? I suspect we will have mix of both. read more

Went back today for the first time in awhile as I had a gift card. I ordered the single burger, fries, and a cookies and cream shake. They must have just been having an off day the last time I went, because today it was amazing. The burger was delicious, even though I got it plain, it had so much flavor and was very juicy. The fries was all crispy and delicious, and they were a pretty decent size. As for the shake, I think I could eat one every day and never get sick of it. It was a great consistency in that you could easily drink it through a straw, but it wasn't too thin. There was a perfect ratio of ice cream and cookies, and it just tasted absolutely amazing. It is a little pricier than a typical burger, however it is definitely worth it if you are willing to spend this much on a pretty quick meal. read more

This place has bomb chicken sandwiches and the burgers are alright. The sandwiches are are small but worth the price because the quality shows. The fries are great when paired with there herb mayo.
