Have not been to Roberts in a very long time. It was afternoon, and we hadn't eaten yet. We were hungry! Food: We got the Bacon Cheeseburger, Junior Cheeseburger, and a side combo of fries and onion rings. They make the burgers to order, so they took a while, but they were fresh and hot when they arrived. The patty was cooked to about medium, which was okay, but for a smashburger, it would have been better to leave it on the grill a bit longer to develop those nice crispy, lacy edges. The additional lettuce, tomato, and onion were generously portioned and fresh. Service: The staff was super friendly. The person who took our order was cheerful, helpful, and professional. Atmosphere: When first driving into the lot, what you notice is a very uncared-for, weedy front patio area. It's not very inviting, and nobody was sitting there. The parking lot pavement could use some refreshing as well. Overall, the exterior is a bit depressing. Inside, however, the restaurant is well lit, clean, and has a friendly atmosphere. You could tell there were lots of regulars catching up with friends and having pleasant conversations. Glad we stopped in. read more

We decided to order a quick burger and get a PBC sundae to have later at home. The burgers were so-so. Seems like less meat and condiments. The bun was not your normal burger bun. Fries were good! I'm assuming because the cost of everything is going up, size and quality will now be going down. The sundae was disappointing. Custard didn't taste like it used to, kinda flat. Something has definitely changed. Ownership changed within the last year, and my recent visit just didn't live up to what I've come to expect. I went through the drive-thru for a cheeseburger, fries, and a root beer. Service was really slow, the root beer tasted like mostly melted ice and watered-down soda, and the cheeseburger just didn't taste the same. What disappointed me most, though, was the customer service. This place used to have incredibly friendly, attentive people who made you feel welcome. On this visit, that same energy and care just didn't come through. These people take FOREVER to get you thru the driver-thru. I have been sitting in line for 15 min and barely moved. I'd go inside but when I do they always forget part of my order and it doesn't move much faster. The food isn't good so it's not worth the wait but my mom wants their custard flavor of the day, so I wait. The people are friendly enough but there's no reason to wait in line even on a Friday for 15-20min for custard. That's outrageous. This place was so dirty inside. The floor looked like it hadn't been swept in days or mopped... it was sticky. Also the soda machine was so gross I would not get a soda ever out of that. Haven't been here in a while, but we felt like burgers last night and had previously had good experiences from here. Sadly not last night. Ordered at drive through and there were some mistakes which they readily fixed, but once we got home we were very disappointed. We spent nearly $75.00 for three burgers, three sides and three malts. I guess that's normal in this economy. The burgers were jammed into the bag and crushed flat together. The sides which included two orders of curds and one order of fries were all less than half filled the curds cost nearly $8.00 each. You've got to be kidding. I used to love the burgers here but since COVID, I've not been out here. I'm disappointed see that nobody behind the counter is wearing gloves. The restaurant, however, seems to be extremely clean. Everyone has on a mask including all the customers. All the young people working here are exceptionally friendly and social distancing is being practiced. I'm going to gamble and order food. It smells great so I'm going to take it home and see what happens. I've been craving this meal for weeks so I hope I'm not disappointed. We'll see! I asked for lettuce, tomato, mustard, and pickles. There was barely any mustard on the burger at all and the lettuce was all diced up. A nice leaf would be better but what do I know about it? The onion rings and shake were good but nothing to brag about. All-in-all, I feel cheated. I don't think the meal was worth the price. I could (and will from now on) make a better burger and shake at home. This is one of my most favorite spots for a quick and delicious bite! The staff is delightful and food is filling and scrumptious. I certainly don't come to Robert's for a healthy, refreshing meal, but life is too short to not treat yourself to a Bacon Cheeseburger, Seasoned Curly Fries, and Oreo Malt now and then. The dine-in atmosphere is cozy, so feel free to bring the whole family. They also have a drive-thru option though for the days you're in a rush. Should have listened to the reviews. I ordered a cheeseburger to go and wanted water to get it down. I've had gastric bypass surgery and need small sips of water in between bites. They gave me a cup with no lid on it for water to go and when I told them I need a cup with a lid and that I can't eat food without water because of my surgery. They just said that I couldn't have a cup with a lid. I then asked if I could buy the cup with a lid so I can take water with me to go. They then charged me two dollars for a plastic cup with lid to take water with me. Ridiculous! I really like Roberts' food, for example, their onion rings are generous and nicely crispy. My favorite is the Gyro wrap; it's made well without smooshing all of the ingredients together. Everyone is always super friendly and their service is really quick for how they prepare a lot from scratch. I used to love going to Roberts. I mean I craved their food. My husband and I hadn't gotten food from there for a while. I had shopping to do nearby and decided that cooking could wait. I wanted Roberts! I ordered 2 steak sandwiches with grilled onions, an order of onion rings and an order of cheese curds! $40 yikes! I know food prices have gone up. Ok, here I go. I ordered the steak sandwiches medium rare. I know it's hard to get this type of sandwich exact, but what I got was shoe leather. They were so dry it was hard to swallow. It didn't help that they were salty it tasted like I was eating potato chips on the sandwich. Really, really salty potato chips. Blech! The onion rings were fried so long I couldn't bite them. The $6.99 cheese curds had no cheese in most of them. I got marinara for dipping. The lid wasn't on tight. Suddenly, as I'm driving, I smell marinara. The lid wasn't put on the cup correctly. The marinara spilled all over everything, including, when I was taking the food into my house, my coat, my dress, and all over my countertop. I'm so sad. That was $40 hard earned money. It was 20 minutes in line. If the food was good, it would have been worth it. I'm sad. I won't be craving Roberts any more. We ordered a reuben sandwich. It was very greasy, the corned beef was so tough and rubbery that you couldn't even cut it with a knife & fork. It came with two onion rings in the sandwich which were soggy. Who does that? Also, overpriced. My husband ordered plain chicken wings with BBQ sauce on the side. He got spicy wings instead. Roberts is super convenient for me so my family has had take out from here a lot. For the most part, we stick to burgers and onion rings and of course the frozen custard. Their custard is very good but I cannot say I prefer it over others like Kraverz, Oscars, Culver's, Pops or Kopps. Regarding service, my one recommendation is to stick to the drive thru. My sister gave me this advice when I first moved here and I reacted like, what's the big deal? Well the one (and only) time I went inside, I immediately wished I hadn't. The lobby looked like a war zone and we waited quite a while for our food. Having worked fast food a lifetime ago, it was most certainly because they were super busy and had not had a chance to catch up. And, employing mostly teenagers, my expectations for cleanliness were not that high. Roberts has the best fish fry in town. You can get the 2 piece fish or 3 pieces with French fries or mashed potatoes and gravy, rye bread, coleslaw, and tartar sauce. Best deal in town. Also their Cobb salad is fantastic with all fixings that they add. My wife and I go there every Friday, we love it. read more

I see you Robert's Frozen Custard - hiding up here all inconspicuously and unassuming. But let me tell you, they had some of the best sweet potato fries I've had in a long time. They were crinkle cut, a good portion for the price, and had a fantastic seasoning on them that brought out the sweetness of the potatoes without taking too much away from the flavor. And of course we had custard, because Wisconsin. The chocolate was fantastic, lots of flavor and no ice chunks. And the vanilla was almost as if you could taste the vanilla bean. Custard is outstanding, burgers are huge, a great stop in Germantown for lunch, dinner or dessert! Burgers are very similar to Kopps, large and luscious. Bun was a little dry, however, on last visit. Prices were a more than Culvers or Kopps for example, but worth it, you won't be disappointed at the taste or size of the servings, just be prepared, ice cream for 4 of us was more than $20 (shakes, sundae). I went through the drive thru last night. The chocolate fudge Oreo custard was amazing and the serving size was meh, okay - a bit more than Culver's and less than Kopp's. I also ordered a cheeseburger with ketchup and raw onions. The burger tasted like a slab of salt! And there were way too many onions and not enough ketchup. It was terrible! I have eaten here before and the burgers are usually at least average if not a step up from average. I would have thought that someone was trying to cover up old meat but I didn't get sick so not sure what went wrong. Literally find the cheapest icecream in any frozen isle and it'll still be 10 times better. Between the two of us, both agreed their custard tastes like ice water with a hint of expired milk. It's pretty much your standard Wisconsin frozen custard place, and that's not a bad thing. Stopped in with a group and immediately remembered why I like these places: they have a ton of options. I decided on a burgundy cherry shake, and it was delicious. It was on the thick side (I like to be able to drink my shakes, and this one bordered on not being able to that), and they have an option to make it thick for $1 more, so I'd almost hate to see what that one would be like! The service seemed a little slow when my friend ordered cheese curds as we were leaving, but it wasn't terrible. I was driving to work from a different location, passing landmarks that were new to me. I was hungry and was just thinking that a big greasy burger would be perfect. The next road sign says "Roberts Jumbo Burgers" and I think, it is meant to be, so I pull off. I ask how big the burgers are, they say huge, so I get a single bacon cheeseburger, and a chocolate malt. First of all, I should have gotten the double. The burger was large in circumference but very thin. Second of all, it was the opposite of greasy-- dry. The bread was dry, the meat was dry, there wasnt a lot of flavor at all. I love the onion rings!! The burgers aren't that good. I have had the burgers on numerous occasions. There is a taste to them that seems off. Today I ordered a burger and rings to go because I had the drink in my car. I tried to grab the burger and the bun just fell apart. I thought of going back in but just ate it anyway. I have never had a bun fall apart like that before. Culver's burgers are much better. For 10-11 dollars for a thin piece of meat on a bun that disintegrates, I think I will go elsewhere in the future. read more
