I've never tried the food but the ice cream is great. Whenever it's hot out and I'm in the area I reward the kids with a good treat to their ice cream. They absolutely love it. The flavors are really good no matter which one you pick. They have a few seats right out front. We usually sit and eat it right there. Because of the proximity of the school right next to it there's usually lots of kids but they're usually pretty chill. Prices seem to be fair. Service is pretty quick. read more

I spent $24 on a nasty cheeseburger 2 sides of fries that were still uncooked they were soggy, A small cookies and cream milk shake that was the only edible thing. A hot dog with chili that was ok to eat. If you have workers that don't know how to cook then so be it but don't put food on a menu m. stick to only selling ice cream and milk shakes. read more

I think the only reason the reviews aren't higher is because people expect the prices to have not gone up in the 35+ years since it opened. I personally think the prices are reasonable. Yes, the food is about as good as you could expect. The workers are great and so is the ice cream. The owner is always reading reviews and making changes. The shop is a must visit for people traveling to Auburndale. read more

When the lovely girl at the counter told me my order was LESS than $4, I literally said "Excuse me?" I buy pints of ice cream at Walmart that cost more! This lovely little, you guessed it, Shack is close to the local high school which factors into the prices. How lovely! In my short time at Shake Shoppe, I saw a healthy flow of customers buying everything from cones to shakes to hot dogs. This is the kind of Americana we are all looking for on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon. Delicious ice cream (that doesn't leave an aftertaste) served by friendly staff. What more could you ask for? Wait times vary quite a bit. Drinks are usually fast but hot food can take anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes. We've gotten lucky sometimes and unlucky other times. The main reason for the score is just the overall experience isn't worth the price. The food is fine. Very on par with food you'd find at a high school football game. Shakes are good. Snow cones taste like they use ice made out of frozen hose water and they crush it by hand. Not very good. The prices are just too high for this level of food and drinks. If you go here I can only recommend the shakes, and even they come at a pretty high cost. read more

This is a cute little place in a very pretty location. We happened to be visiting family at a local hospice facility so it was convenient for lunch. We ordered three sandwiches which were all fine; mediocre deli meat but fresh red tomatoes and soft buns. The lunch deal came with HUGE sodas and a HUGE bag of chips. In the evening, we walked over and got 2 milk shakes (a chocolate and a raspberry) and 2 twists. They were all delicious (and my husband is picky about his raspberry shakes) and a good value. Seems to be a local favorite throughout the community. We decided to swing in for a little sweet treat. Not sure if it's the normal here but the wait time in line was a little crazy. They are pretty much only helping two customers at any given time and informing people there will be a wait. Once they hand out a order they will take the next order and than close the window and have the next person wait in line until they get the last order complete. Absolutely no clue as to why they think this would be a good idea. Two stars because the pineapple shake was good but in a weird kind of way, but still good! We will return to see if the whole long wait issue is the normal or if it was just our lucky day. read more

We waited for you 20 minutes to try to place our order since "they were finishing a big food order". Then a local person came and they took her order right away. This is sad. We were all visiting from out of town coming to this shop to get a small town experience and are now leaving town with a very sour taste:( and no ice cream. Nice little shack with a great variety, friendly folks and fast service. It says open at 10, not 9 like YELP has. I had a great soft ice cream cone, though it melts more quickly than DQ, it tastes the same. Also enjoyed a tasty and thick strawberry shake. They have lots of interesting flavored shakes--butterscotch, caramel, rootbeer, peanut butter......hot dogs are only $2. Lots of signs are faded and need remade. Loved seeing dad & son bicyclists riding up for a treat. read more

Have lived in Auburndale, FL for over 7 years. Today we decided to stop for a ice cream cone, had a coupon from "Enjoyment Book" page 117. They refused to honor it. We will never stop there again & I am going to spread the word for people not to stop there either. If you have coupons out there you need to honor them. It is just like insurance companies where they can pick & choose what they what to honor. read more

This was a cute local stop. We were visiting from out of town, and yelp led us there and it did not disappoint. Atmosphere is simple, basically a big concession stand, with a walk up window, and picnic tables for seating. Had a surprisingly large selection of food and snacks. Gotta try a "slummie" ice cream and slushee combo soooo good. It is perfect for a quick bite after a day at the beach or trip to the park. Don't expect a fancy meal, but more fun for sure read more
