    Seafood Galore for 2
    Alan L.

Messy and delicious Put on your old clothes and arrive hungry. There are multiple seafood boil options available, with different items and two different sizes. The upsell to easy peel shrimp is a good choice. The cocktails are sweet and pair well with a spicy boil. The room is simple with plastic tablecloths. The service is helpful.

The seafood was amazing and the shaking blend had to right amount of spice. Thank you Amy for your service. The fisherman's bowl was tasty.

I come here every few months with my friends for a catch up. This has to be one of my favorite seafood restaurants! The price is great! The food is great! And the servers are very sweet, attentive and quick! I have never waited too long to get seated. The servers would ask what drinks I would order and I always ask them for recommendations. They're all very patient and give the best recommendations. They have alcoholic and virgin drinks. The seafood comes out steaming hot. Note: if you come here with a group, order a combo, and order more when you're almost done with the previous order. This confirms your next batch will be steaming hot!!! Amy usually serves me when I come. And it's been a pleasure having her as my server! She makes great drinks and gives great recommendations. I usually order the snow crab + headless shrimp combo. But if you're looking for a mix, seafood glore is the way to go. You can customize your spice levels which has been a plus for me. Their appetizers are really good too, have you tried their cat fish?

Stopped into Shaking Crab today after my weekly acupuncture appointment. Solo dolo, I sat at the bar. I ordered a guava margarita and an appetizer of deep fried pickles to munch on. My drink was tasty and my pickles were deliciously crispy and spicy. I plan to come back for a ladies night to pig out on seafood boils. I love that on a Sunday (brunch day), there wasn't a wait to be seated and sweet R&B tunes were in the air. I like the vibe.

I always loved the shaking crab at flushing, but they closed down. So decided to try this one, service 10/10, ambiance 6/10 The food wasn't as great as it used to, the shaking crab sauce I'm accustomed to had lots of garlic, this time there wasn't any. Their drinks was definitely delicious, had the passion fruit mojitos

    pina coloda

My brother and I stopped by the Shaking Crab in park slope for a seafood lunch. I must say , the food was very good. Lightly fried lobster tail was perfectly cooked and the pina colada was perfect. This is a "must dine" spot!

Such a great array of seafood and a fun eating experience with friends! The cajun sauce was definitely the best part, and for the price it was a reasonably generous serving of crab, clams, crawfish, and shrimp! The cajun seasoning is incredibly flavorful (but not at at spicy even though we got their medium spicy level). The other platter with the garlic butter was also good, but definitely bland in comparison to their cajun seasoning. Definitely did not skimp on the garlic in either!

Gosh it was my first time trying sea food boil and it was delicious! Wish we had ordered more but sea food is so expensive haha.

My daughter and I had been wanting crab legs and decided on this spot. It opens at 5pm so we headed out early to beat the rush. Grabbed a margarita across the street while we waited. Upon entry we were greeted by a nice young man. The spot is an open space with seating to the right for dine in patrons with a bar to the left. We were told we could sit anywhere & luckily found a table in the middle. We ordered our own meals instead of a pan. Boil comes with potatoes & corn. I added sausage to my Louisiana hot. My daughter got the garlic butter hot. We killed it. Satiated we were! Bartenders showed up late but not to worry. They made up for it with the humor & hospitality. All in all this was a great experience and we'll be back! Note they do have pickup & a lot of folks were popping on & out for their boil bags!

Dear Shakin' Your 38/100 online score is a bit off-putting. I'm glad I followed my craving and still supported you. I was extreamly pleased to see an updated "A" in your window, by your presentation and food taste. Please fix that abysmal 38. It may be huge deterrent for many. I've tried their crab, headless shrimp (didn't realize shrimp head-eating was a thing) and mussels numerous times and everything always tastes amazing! My sauce of choice is the Cajun and it's soooo garlicky and great! The 1lb shrimp/crab combo feels like so much! They're only doing takeout at the covid moment so order delivery or pickup. You won't be allowed inside at all and food is collected at the table at their door. Everything tastes like 100 to me so I hurt for them with that online 38. I'll always be back! The End.

It made such a strong impression on my friend that she demanded we eat at this restaurant. The restaurant was packed, but we managed to get a spot at the bar and watch the Mets game. The food was immaculate, and we ordered the Hot Crab Dip, Garlic Biscuits, and I ordered "The Connecticut." On this 250th birthday of America (4th of July and 97 degrees), I was in the mood for a Lobster Roll. I realize my first review mentioned the appearance of their Lobster rolls were underwhelming. They still are . Having tried it today, I'll narrow it down: Delicious? Yes. Fresh? Yes. Overpriced? Yes. Small Roll portion? Yes. Our server was courteous and attentive and my Narraganset Beer hit all the right notes to accompany my Lobster Roll. Ice cold and light. We chose the Conneticut style Lobster roll which was a warm style poached in butter (no mayo). In total, the menu offered four Lobster Roll styles. I splurged by selecting fries to accompany my Roll because who wants a salad when it's a holiday? There were two prices per each roll. For Conneticut, it was either $41 or $51 with the latter including a more pile high serving of lobster: however, we were informed the smallish bun will remain the same. The best Lobster Roll I ever had still holds its title from North Fork, Long Island at one of the vineyards. RHLB Roll was very good. Chunky pieces of warm Lobster, not too buttery and accompanied by crispy French Fries. Overall, a very good holiday lunch. I just wish the bun length size were larger. It should be for the prices they charge.

The menu also says it comes with house special dessert but we never gotten any. For any seafood, it's market price plus they add a 30% processing fee, which is strange to me. For a Chinese restaurant which usually does not charge tax if you pay with cash, they charge tax here whether you pay by card or cash. The restaurant is pretty big and spacious. They have pretty large tables, suitable for parties and celebrations. There's a private space upstairs with 3 large tables for parties. The restaurant is pretty slow in the afternoon.

Every dish was incredibly unique, featuring exquisite flavors that truly "dance" on the palate. Squid (5/5): Cooked to absolute perfection, it was bouncy, chewy, and paired with a sauce that tied everything together beautifully. Steaklette (4.75/5): A fantastic dish. The sauce was once again the highlight, and it paired perfectly with the potatoes. My partner found it a bit salty, but for me, the seasoning was just right While they are currently Michelin Recommended, I truly believe they deserve a Star. I told our server this when she asked if it was our first time dining here and she found it similarly puzzling. That said, this sentiment is one rarely expressed these days, as Saint Julivert's longevity puts it in what I'd imagine to be an exclusive, highly coveted class of restaurants that have stood the test of time in the face of changing trends, the pandemic, rent, etc. And perhaps more importantly, it has stood the test of time *and* maintained its high level of execution and quality. Saint Julivert is a neighborhood spot as memorable as it is unassuming. We came here at around 7:30pm on a Saturday night. I live quite far from Saint Julivert which is the main reason I hadn't gotten here before this past weekend. Luckily, a friend who recently moved to the area was having a party, describing the offered fare as "drinks and light bites" -- code for "not sufficient for dinner" and an opportunity to find a fun restaurant nearby to try beforehand. Walking up to Saint Julivert was a bit of a thrill for me -- both because of how long it's been on my radar and also because it's nestled on a block that otherwise seems completely residential. The space itself is much smaller than I imagined, very cozy, friendly, and down to earth. We had, in my opinion, one of the best seats in the house, which was a pair of high tops by the kitchen with loads of space for folks (read: us) who like to order a bunch of smaller plates to share. To start, we got a round of cocktails. I had to go with the Kanpai Martini (vodka, gin, shochu, cap corse, guindilla), as I pretty much always start with the martini if one is featured on the cocktail menu, and my partner got the Puerto Escondido (mezcal, beet, grapefruit, jalapeño) which is a super tasty spicy mezcal marg variation. I then tried the Diamond District (mezcal, persimmon liqueur, cocchi americano) which is a variation of one of my other go-to drinks, a white mezcal negroni. No complaints here. Food-wise, we obviously leaned into the seafood here heavily. Tried to sample as much variety as possible and I'd say we did a pretty impressive job. We weren't able to finish everything but we tried our very best. Truly everything was exceptional so my usual letter grades aren't all that necessary because it was As across the board. Eats, below: Amberjack w/ tomato water, crispy shallot, shiso oil Ideal first dish, definitely had some amuse bouche qualities, being both light and bright. The fish was incredibly fresh and the concept overall with sophisticated with use of texture and flavor that was impressive in its subtlety and execution. Chicory Salad w/ blue cheese, walnut, persimmon, coffee cider vinaigrette Our one veggie of the night and it was well worth our while, fresh winter greens with that tried and true blue cheese/walnut combo made unique by the coffee cider vinaigrette which emphasized the sweet and earthy notes of the dish and brought everything together beauitfully. Wild Shrimp w/ salted kumquat, poblano pepper, pomelo If I had to give an award to most unique of the night, it would have to go to this dish. I've had a dizzying amount of seafood over the years and I've been lucky enough try to a lot of different types of things in a lot of different types of ways and this one stands out. Something about the flavor and texture of the mostly-raw shrimp with the delicate and aromatic citrus elements. Just impossibly fresh, bright, and delicious. Octopus w/ pipián verde, roasted tomatillo juice, cucumber, serrano A preparation I'm used to seeing served warm but I enjoyed it cold just the same. The overall flavor profile was predictable but the elements contributing to it were less so. The green mole was delicious and overall this dish was a perfect bridge between the lighter and the richer, a segue so perfect it was as if it was divinely ordained. Squid a la Plancha w/ pine nut, maitake mushroom, tinta, poblano The first of two warm dishes we ordered. A nice complement to some of the lighter dishes we had earlier in the meal that were more aromatic/vegetal/gardenia vibes, this dish was earthier, more umami and grounding. Jerked Hamachi Collar w/ mango-pickle mayo, lime Hard to finish with this because it was probably the richest of the dishes and we were already somewhat full by this point, but I ate as much as I could because it was just that good. The mango-pickle mayo was just sublime, the fish was perfectly cooked and seasoned beautifully -- altogether a playful and powerful way to end the meal.

Before we ordered the Mother's Day special, I specifically asked the waitress if she would like her tip in cash and she said of course! The special was $95/person plus a 20% TIP ($38) which was $228! See photo below! We ordered some other items and the waitress gave me my bill for $252.86. We then drove 10 blocks to Chase to get out cash for her. I then noticed that I was charged $298.86. It was the $252.86 plus a TIP of $45.20! I immediately returned to discuss the discrepancies. The tip that was supposed to be $38 was now $45.20! The waitress then said she would credit my account. My question was how did this happen! All three waitresses stated it was not them and that the machine did this! How was this possible? Not one of them took responsibility for the discrepancies! Had I not looked at my bank statement then I would never have known that I would be tipping her twice! I then decided to leave to explain to my mom! Then the short Indian (I think) than sarcastically stated "Oh so now you're not going to tip us" Really! I drove 10 blocks and I NEVER ONCE STATED THAT I WAS NOT GOING TO TIP HER! I merely was going to let my mom know what happened and then TIP her! Note* I was going to give her a $100 cash TIP! Had she given me the REAL receipt with the $45 TIP then I would have given her $50 CASH but since she only produced the REAL receipt after I came back (how ironic) and told her she charged the wrong amount, she would have received $100 TIP. But since the short Indian waitress made that slick remark, she did not receive anything! After the disrespect and blaming the machine and giving me a fake receipt? I decided to leave! If this is how you conduct business then you just lost a great customer! PS! The food was great!

Between the 8 appetizers and 4 mezes - some we loved, some were just ok. But a lot of that opinion is based on personal preference. We started with cocktails ($14.50 each) and I had the Turkish Coffee Martini, which was very enjoyable, and my friend ordered the Bergamot (gin-based), which they also liked. We got the prix-fixe brunch ($35), starting with the çılbır (poached eggs with yogurt and brown butter), which was very good. Though it only came with one egg each, so we ended up ordering an additional serving on the side. The sides are served family-style and include a nice range of sweet and savory options. The spinach and cheese börek was very good and paired well with the eggs and yogurt. I also really enjoyed the sucuk (pan-fried sausage) and the kızartma (potatoes with eggplant and tomato). On the sweeter side, the akıtma (thin pancakes) with toppings like mixed berries, sweet tahini, jam, and cream was a fun "dessert" element. Overall, it was a really enjoyable and unique brunch experience. I liked the family-style format, and it felt like a good value for the amount of food, though we personally wanted a bit more protein. The space itself felt warm, homey, and natural. One thing to note: there did not seem to be many gluten-free options within the prix-fixe, so that is something to keep in mind. Would recommend giving Rana Fifteen a try!

Regardless of the volume the outside bar had quick service on the drinks while we waited to be called for a table. It took about 1.5 hours for our table to be ready. Once seated the staff came to take our orders quick as this was a no nonsense day for them with every table full. We decided to on the Cajun seafood boil for 2 which was split between 4 people -- definitely enough food. The CRAB was out of this world some of the best dungeness crab I ever tasted. Lobster on point. I definately went to crustacean heaven. The price is hefty tho at 195. We also got the ahi tuna nachos which was a nice app and the lobster Mac and cheese. Definately coming back.

Tucked in the quiet end of Red Hook right by the water, is Brooklyn Crab - a lively, coastal shanty themed restaurant serving up some seafood favorites... but on a cold day in early February the abandoned and frozen tiki bar downstairs and the residue of snow salt on the staircase leading to the restaurant only served as a faint reminder of brighter, sunny days that await us this summer in New York. I plopped myself on the bar seating as cold gushes of air swept in with the opening door. The heating was struggling but so were we - it really was just that cold. However dire these conditions were, I was here for my weekly ritual - two dozen oysters on the half shell. Trish the bartender was a great sport. We chit chatted about the weather and her California upbringing and everything in between. She was great company and a delight to talk to. When the oyster platter arrived I was met with instant joy. Nicely sized oysters, neatly shucked, briny and beautiful with the accompaniments I like. A cold glass of beer I had been slowly working on in the background. They only have the $1 Sunday oyster happy hour during the winter months. Staff simply can't keep up with the shucking when it's busier. I deeply enjoyed this meal as the sun shined in the glass enclosure and it started to warm up. Far away I could see the waves crashing on the dock, as I guzzled down the ocean's perfect food. I also ordered the peel and eat shrimp and they were very good. Nicely seasoned, with ample amount of lemon wedges to make this meal truly one of a kind. This is one of the best oyster happy hours in Brooklyn, and even though I am traveling away from home right now, I can't wait to return and bask in this sunlit bar one last time this winter. Highly recommended!!

The long mirrors on the walls made the space feel bigger and taller as well. First and foremost, I'm giving this place a 5 for the service as they really went above and beyond. It was not the occasional stop by to refill water and grab dirty plates. Our waiter provided great recommendations and offered me a small sample of a wine I had heard him recommend to another table after I had already ordered my orange wine. In terms of food, the bluefin tuna special was very fresh. We enjoyed the hush puppies and the swordfish belly. The fry basket had thin rectangularly shaped fries which were amazing. The only thing is I wish it came with more than two pieces of shrimp and two pieces of fish. The chargrilled oysters were also very good. Lastly they offered free bread pudding which was a perfect way to end the night.

The catfish sandwich was delicious, flavorful, and had a great sauce. The catfish basket, on the other hand, was lacking a bit in flavor. The mac and cheese was good, but nothing that stood out. The oysters were fresh and enjoyable. The restaurant does provide high chairs, which was appreciated, but there are no changing tables in the bathroom, so it's not the most family-friendly option for parents with young children. The staff was wonderful -- very attentive, friendly, and accommodating. Overall, it was a nice experience with great service and a lovely atmosphere.
