This is a very nice quaint place to dine. It has about 10 tables inside and seven bad seats. There's space for about three tables outside. I had the Cajun boil with sausage, snow crab legs, and two boiled eggs. It was decent and they held the garlic for me. Because I got a half order boil it wasn't much to show. Three sausages, one cluster of four crab legs and two boiled eggs. The sauce is a little saucy and oily but other than that it was good. I ordered a kid's catfish dinner to go because I want to see how their fried catfish taste. It came with sweet potatoes fries and corn as sides but the waitress put garlic broccoli as a side instead and I am not a happy camper given that I don't like garlic and I was looking forward to putting the corn in my leftover Cajun sauce. read more

Honestly i've had this before. The first time the sauce was horrible and this time the sauce was just a bag of oil. It seeped on the table. The service started off decent, it's insane that one of your servers don't speak and then the second one hasn't tried any of the food to give opinions. She made a mistake with my bill admitted to the mistake and still chose to charge me rather than fixing it. We then asked about a to go cup for the drink while paying she said yeah let me see if I can grab you one... Then once she noticed there was no tip she chose to ignore us and sit down with her food... We asked again and she said you can't take the drink to go. Another person had clams in their boil, but several of them were empty and the kitchen said it was from when they shook the bag to distribute the seasonings so the clams were in the bottom of the bag. Stopped into Shaking Crab today after my weekly acupuncture appointment. Solo dolo, I sat at the bar. I ordered a guava margarita and an appetizer of deep fried pickles to munch on. My drink was tasty and my pickles were deliciously crispy and spicy. I plan to come back for a ladies night to pig out on seafood boils. The cajun sauce was definitely the best part, and for the price it was a reasonably generous serving of crab, clams, crawfish, and shrimp! The cajun seasoning is incredibly flavorful (but not at at spicy even though we got their medium spicy level). Upon entry we were greeted by a nice young man. The spot is an open space with seating to the right for dine in patrons with a bar to the left. We were told we could sit anywhere & luckily found a table in the middle. We ordered our own meals instead of a pan. Boil comes with potatoes & corn. I added sausage to my Louisiana hot. My daughter got the garlic butter hot. We killed it. Satiated we were! Bartenders showed up late but not to worry. They made up for it with the humor & hospitality. I came here tonight with a friend and upon entry was greeted by a beautiful young lady who seemed to be doing everything yet made the effort to make us feel at home and walk us through the menus and offer suggestions. As it turned out, she was the manager but obviously one that wore multiple hats! The food was satisfying as expected and the bill wasn't too bad either. The way the space is designed allowed us to not only enjoy our food but also see the Football game on one of the two TVs behind the bar. May I note I have been here plenty of times but today was the first time I was completely dissatisfied. I went with my nephew who ordered a jumbo shaker (crab legs and shrimp) in MEDIUM shakin' sauce. I ordered the jumbo shaker in REGULAR shakin' sauce. When we got our orders, both bags were clearly medium - plenty of chili flakes visible in both. I told the waiter, and he said he would go and ask the kitchen. When he returned, he told me the kitchen is giving him a hard time and won't make another bag hence them making the order wrong. He said they suggested to "dilute" my sauce by adding more butter to it. Upon receiving the diluted version- I can still taste the heavy spice. He took the bag, came back with what I thought was a new bag that was prepared for me but to my surprise it was not because I saw a potato that I had already bit into inside the bag. I approached the manager and asked what is happening here? He told me they WASHED my shrimp and crab legs that were previously given and added the regular shakin' sauce. Totally disappointed in the customer service today. How dare you wash my seafood and then hand it back to me in a thrown on sauce. I won't be returning after how that was handled. read more

It was so well prepared, the meat just came out of the shell. I loved their signature sauce but my husband thought it was way too garlic-y, which it was but I love garlic. Honestly not that great compared to other cajun places in NYC. Their sauce is way too oily and not buttery. It's not as flavorful and fragrant as some other cajun boil places I've been to. Their clams and mussels are tough, chewy and small. Makes me think it's not fresh? Shrimp was good, plump and not mushy. Thank goodness.
