Honeybear and his humans love Shampooch. I have to be careful not to tell him "tomorrow is Spa Day!" too early or he scratches and whines at the closet where his Adventure Vest (harness) hangs. Kristen does his cuts as she knows his coat well and for baths we're always happy with whichever groomer is available-especially when they fit us in for an emergency cleanup. The owner has stepped in to help when Honeybear arrives exceptionally tangled or matted, which seems to occur overnight sometimes. We once dropped him off-first dog of the day-and as Kristen held Honeybear, she and two other groomers all kissed him a bit before his session started. They say he has a gentle soul. Positive- Friendly person at the front desk for check in. Friendly groomer. Convenient location. Negative- NOT friendly person at checkout. FAILED to mention 2.83% surcharge to use a credit card. The surcharge makes the service too expensive. They should either build it in to the price of the service or get rid of it altogether. Uneven, raggedy cut in several places, particularly the chest and feet. I feel I was overcharged for the results I got. I have a very mellow older dog who tolerates handling/grooming with out any fuss. I only went there because I couldn't get my dog in at our regular groomer. These people were so generous to me and my kitty. I had just purchased my new cat from the Pope County Humane Society and he proceeded to puke and poop on himself. He smelled so bad and was quite uncomfortable for the two hour ride back home. As I was almost home I saw that this place was open and popped in to see if they could do anything for my cat. I thought it was just a groomer for dogs, but they said they also cleaned cats; however, the cat cleaners (I guess they are specialized) were not there and the owner said that he didn't want to risk the dog groomers being hurt. Luckily his wife was there and she took pity on us and offered to clean him up herself. They let me drop him off with them and go to Target to get more cat goodies for his arrival. The cardboard carrier sent home with me was covered in... you know what. This gave me a chance to get a plastic carrier for him. Usually they charge $40, but because it was an emergency they only charged me $20. I am so grateful to them. They didn't even give him a wet bath. They have this dry cleaner and it worked like a charm. He came out smelling like he'd been sent to the dry cleaner. read more

I've been bringing my dog here for 2 years. Up until grooming this last Saturday, 12/11/21 I was satisfied. The gal who usually trims my dog has notes on what I like and I thought she would be doing the grooming. I handed my dog off at the door, said instead of a bellbottom look at her ankles to please make her legs full and straight otherwise cut her like we usually do. Her fringe around her eyes was cut off (never done before), her legs look like little little peg legs and cat like not full and straight but most upsetting is her tail was cut short on top and underneath (never requested or done before). This was done at another groomers 2 years ago and why I switched to Shampooch. I liken it to a girl who has grown out her bangs and she tells the stylist to leave them long and proceeds to cut off the bangs after many months of growing them out. I called to talk about this and I didn't get "we're sorry to hear this, we'd like to make it right and we'll be happy to give you a discount on her next grooming" afraid all I got was "you said to cut her legs straight" I paid $100 including a tip. I've been in outside sales for years and when you have a dissatisfied customer you do something to make things right. They've lost me as a customer and I can no longer sing their praises. read more

Friendly, professional and high quality all around. I brought my dog in for a nail trim at a busy time- Saturday late morning- and they were able to get to him in less than five minutes. My dog really really hates nail trimming, and they were able to do it very quickly and really well, without him getting very bothered at all. They did a fabulous job on my new 5 month old Pom today! He gave the Groomer a kiss when I walked away. They did so much more than I asked for. He looked fabulous when I picked him up! Even better, he was not stressed at all. He had never been kenneled before, but he was very calm when I picked him up. They got rid of his mats, which has been a challenge as a new puppy owner even though I have had two Pomeranians before. No mats at all when I picked him up! We brought our rescue dog into Shampooch for our first grooming with her since the adoption. We were already a little leery knowing the foster had some trouble getting her groomed. Our dog is great with people she knows but is very afraid of people she doesn't know. To our surprise our dog took to the woman right away. She had a calming effect and knew how to handle a scared dog. We showed a picture of how our last Yorkie was groomed and they duplicated it exactly. We would and will recommend this place to anyone. This place was recommended to me by a friend. I stopped bringing my cockapoo to PetSmart for grooming because they would always end up with cuts and then an infection by her neck. Shampooch is located in a small strip mall by Caribou and Walgreens off Hwy 7, a pretty convenient location. Prices are reasonable and service is great. They keep good records and always know my dog's "usual" cut. She comes home with a stylish bandana and sometimes a few ribbons in her hair. They don't accept credit cards, so remember to bring cash or a checkbook. read more

If I could rate 0 star rating I would! Waited 1 month for an appointment that was scheduled today, and was treated so rudely on the phone I really can't believe it and in shock still! What absolute horrible customer service they have! They called me this morning to tell me my appt has to be canceled since they have three groomers out, which I totally understand that, but I do anticipate to be rescheduled at a later date! but it Didn't sound like she was going to do that since she just now chooses to tell me they are not taking any new clients and she has no idea how I got on the schedule in the first place, I simply said "oh well I hope you would still honor and reschedule my appointment? I just took my dog boomer here tonight for the first time and we loved it! All the girls there were really nice and welcoming. The lady at the front desk took him in the back a little just to get him used to the place while I was filling out the paperwork and then our groomer Melissa came out to meet us and talked with me for awhile about boomer before she took him back. I really liked that and I think he did as well because he could see me interact with her and that she's a nice person. He has a little anxiety with grooming but I could tell he felt ok here because he wasn't shaking. When I picked him up there was a $2 service charge to pay with a credit card but now I just remembered reading other reviews saying they are cash only. So heads up, they now accept credit cards but with a fee. Boomers ears were a tad longer then I liked and she offered to trim them up right then with no problem at all! Super nice staff and clean place! Glad I found a groomer close to my new apt! I would highly recommend! read more

I've been taking my toy poodle to Shampooch since he was three months old he is now six years old. The last two times I have taken him have been the worst experiences I've ever had. I had to beg for the groomer to trim his feet. So the last visit they shaved off six years of growing out his ears! I was not asked if I want all his hair on his ears cut. I just came back to pick him up and his ears were shaved. The groomer would not even speak to me. Needless to say he will never be going back to this groomer or this facility again! read more

I looked this up on YELP before I even took my dog to this place and had all good reviews. Well, here's the first unhappy customer I guess. I took my dog in to get her nails cut. When I called they said that they will cut them and then "shape" them (so they're not so sharp)for $5 more which totaled $18.50. So I took her in. I was watching the whole time and watched for the 5 minutes that it took for them to "cut" and "shape" her nails. They were very gentle with her and I thought for sure that she was just whining because I was standing there watching. She finished in 5 minutes and brought her out. I pull out my debit/credit card and she then tells me they don't except anything but cash. That would have been nice to know on the phone since they don't have a website to tell me this! So, I had to go down to the ATM at the end of the block to get cash. I get into my car to leave and look at my dog's paws and I'm not pleased with the "shaping" they did to make the edges smooth. They were actually jagged and she obviously caught her paw with the filing thing a couple of times. I just wonder if she would have taken more than 5 minutes it could have turned out like she cared for what she was doing. I know it's gotten 4 good reviews but I will not be bringing my dog there again! read more

Julie is the best. I have taken my dogs there forever. The first dog I took there was Sadie. When Sadie was in her twlight years and had some achse and pains. We have been taking our standard poodles to Shampooch for about 2 years. We just had a very disappointing experience with the groomer, Kristen. Last Fall she said we were going to have a "hard talk". Asking her what she meant, she said our 12 year old poodle would need to have her bracelets shaved off (the longer hair around he ankles). I told her under no circumstances should she do that. She said it was too hard on her to have them brushed. We then went to Florida and I asked the Master groomers (Kristen is not a Master groomer) about what Kristen said. They just laughed and said it was not hard on her and that she did just fine on all her grooms down there. I took my girls back to Shampooch a couple of weeks ago and Kristen shaved off our 12 year olds bracelets. I was beyond furious. Kristen was confrontational and nasty. I left without saying a word and e-mailed the owner. I never heard back from him. Absolutely a terrible way of running a business. read more

STRONGLY ADVISE AGAINST BRINGING YOUR PET FOR A GROOM HERE. First time scheduling with them, I gave them details regarding my puppy, they didn't plan enough time for experience, for which they later became upset with me (not their scheduling representative). Grooming team didn't didn't hear me enter the lobby while they were finishing up clipping my pup and I overheard them -not prompting my dog- but using curse words and trash-talking me on how I supposedly 'don't care for my pet'. When a fellow co-worker at the front desk realized I could hear what they were saying, she slipped behind the wall and revealed to groomers I was in front lobby. At once they became quiet and abruptly their whole approach to my dog changed i.e. baby-talk started, used a soft-gentle nature, etc. Minutes later, they had the nerve to charge me almost twice what I was quoted when I originally made the appointment. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL-TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. read more

After reading the last review, I felt compelled to write a review of my own. I had been going to Shampooch for several years and can only say good things about them. We lost our "golden" two years ago, so we have not needed their services in the past two years, but my opinion of was nothing less then positive. The couple that own the place are wonderful people with great! They have always been kind and concerned about my dog, willing to go out of their way to groom her at a time that works best for her, as she had very high anxiety. Julie (owner/groomer) would even stay late or come in early to appease my "golden" so she wouldn't have to go into a kennel or crate, as the stress of that would bring on "hot spots" on her face. You would never find this kind of customer service at one of those big chain store groomers! No, they do not take credit cards, but why would that be a big deal!?!?! I can understand why they wouldn't want to, as the cost of swiping a credit card is high and a business has to pay a fee each with each transaction. The owners are a younger couple who are probably just trying to make "ends meat" just like the rest of us. I would bet if they accepted credit cards, they would have to pass that fee along to us, and I, for one, rather not pay more for the service, but just simply bring cash or check to pay!!! Thank you Shampooch for the quality of service you provide to us consumers and the love and gentleness you give our pets while they are in your care! Keep up the great work!!! read more

I was a loyal customer and fan of Shampooch for the past 4-5 years. Recently after a groom, I returned to pick up my dog and was a bit surprised to be rushed out the door I noted that he was shaved close in a few areas. Our golden doodle is a service dog and when I returned to work large blood spots were noted where he was sitting within minutes. I suspected that this was why our end of apt was so rushed. I called and expressed my anger and disappointment with not being told he was injured. I was told it happened in the bath and it was forgotten when I picked him up. Two days later I ended up at the vet with this nick that occurred while being groomed as our service dog was sent home as he couldn't be in school and bleeding. I promptly called to get an e-mail and filed a complaint along with haz mat report for the blood clean up at my work and a vet bill requesting for removal of the growth that was nicked and injured during the groom. I also requested refund for the groom and tip paid. I was told by e-mail weeks later after asking what was determined on their decision as they never contacted me back that Shampooch would refund the groom amount and vet bill for visit. I have not received this refund or heard anymore. Beware! read more
