I ordered the BBQ platter and chose potato salad and baked beans as my sides. The sides were pretty solid. You can't trust everyone's potato salad, but theirs is definitely good. As for the BBQ, that's a bit of a different story. Let me say this first, nothing was nasty, it just didn't have the flavors you expect when eating BBQ. There was zero smoke flavor, the main BBQ sauce was too sweet with no heat, and the ribs and pulled pork lacked seasoning overall. Everything seemed to rely on the sauce, which didn't really hit the mark. I wouldn't turn anyone away from it, 'd say try it for yourself. I'm more of a Carolina BBQ guy anyway. Give me a BBQ plate from Smithfield's Chicken 'N Bar-B-Q and I'm a happy camper. read more

This is going to hurt some feelings, but Alabama BBQ in Montgomery is awful, except for Shanes, which is out of Georgia where they have lots of good BBQ. Most anyone can do pulled pork. However, ribs are the dish that matters. Except for Hooks in Troy, Shanes is the only place nearby, where I can be confident that I will be served reasonably meaty and tender ribs. read more

It's a big place with plenty of room to sit. 6-8 people or more with the tables. Good place to stop and eat. read more

Food: meat would have fit in the little cup they give. It was cold and dry. I HAD to put sauce on it to not choke from the dryness. Okra was also cold. The portions on the sides were only a half filled little cup so maybe 3 ounces each. Frount counter service was ok. But we had a group of seven and there was no way for us to all sit together. They have signs up saying dont move the tables, but you are not even allowed to move a chair to accommodate one person extra. Note that there was a couple at the only big table and then my group, no other patrons there. The place was nasty. You would think with the building almost empty they would clean something but the tables were sticky, the floors nasty with trash everywhere, the bbq sauce on the counter looked like the bottles hadn't been wiped since they were opened. We are visiting from another state to visit family. I ordered the BBQ pork plate and the meat was cold, tough and I had to pour bbq sauce on it to try to soften it up. The tables were so sticky, we had to lay paper towels down so our hands and cups wouldn't stick. The health rating is an 87, we should have left but my family was hungry. The food was just okay--nothing special. I placed a call-in order around 3:30 on a Thursday, so it wasn't a busy time. I ordered a plate with two meats and another plate with one meat. While they took my order correctly and charged me correctly, one of the meats was missing from the box when I got home. Unfortunately, I live too far away to go back and have it fixed. Should have checked the Yelp ratings from the past couple of months before entering this establishment. The portions were extremely small, food was cold, meat was dry and flavorless. I mainly grab takeout here. My usuals are the cowboy burger or ribs plate. Both are very good! For the sides, I like the fries and okra. Not really a fan of the mac and cheese. The workers here are really nice. This is one of my go to places and every visit is consistently good. I definitely recommend eating here read more

This was my 1st time here. The place was not too crowded. The food was awesome and the restaurant was spotless. The cashiers were nice and helpful. The half chicken plate was awesome. Not only was my order (6 pc traditional smoked wings-crispy with medium sauce on the side ) placed incorrectly but when I got them home I discovered the wings weren't smoked to even become done (rubbery and chicken skin was still white. Also, over soaked with medium sauce). Had to place them in the air fryer for extra minutes to even get them cooked done! Not to mention the macaroni (overcooked/mushy) and cheese (sauce not real shredded cheddar cheese which was also soupy. Yuck! Looks like box macaroni and cheese and I asked the cashier if they make their macaroni and cheese from scratch and if they use real cheddar cheese and bake it. Shane's rib shack is exactly what our little part of Montgomery needed. Located right across the street from Publix's, Shane's is in a great spot that's extremely convenient for those who don't want to travel to the east side and the food is top notch. We go there often and will continue to so long as the food stays hot and delicious. The employees are always pleasant (something you don't see often in Montgomery) and have a smile on their face. I recommend the tenders with lemon peppers I do not recommend a Burger. It's not that they aren't delicious- it just takes 5 years to get one. read more

Me and My son came here yesterday, I had been meaning to come here months ago but since I've moved I'd haven't had the opportunity to go. When we walked in we were greeted very well, do the fact they were in aww with my son, haha, but it was nice. I had ordered the ribs and smoked wings combo with baked beans and onion rings. The food came out in a decent time and it was a good amount of food for the price I paid. I enjoyed every bit and so did my son, especially the toast and peach tea with lemonade mix. I placed a online order for two meals one was a rib basket. I was VERY DISAPPOINTED!!! The ribs were not good at all and very small. This was my second time that I ordered them. The first time the bones were cut individually and looked like regular ribs not baby backs , this time they looked like the small end of the rib like the tip, and it was fatty and did not taste as good as my first order!!! I am so upset and disappointed with Shane's. I will not be going back to Shane's anytime soon. I will try Full Moon or Jim N Nick's!!!! Ordered the Sampler Platter that comes with ribs, tenders, and your choice of pulled pork or chicken. It also comes with French toast and two sides. The ribs were good and tender. I also thought the pulled pork was decent. However, I was disappointed in the tenders, and the fact that it only came with two small pieces. The brunswick stew was a huge disappointment for me. There was very little stew in it as it was mostly made up of just liquids/soup mix, and the stew itself was not very good. The baked beans were ok. Overall, for the price, I would've expected a little more food and I wish the brunswick stew were better. The wait staff was very attentive though, and I really appreciated that. read more
