I went there yesterday and got the half bbq chicken plate with fries and fried orka. When I started to eat the chicken I realized that it was undercooked. The breast was slightly pink and the thigh still had blood coming from it. I took tge food back to them and showed them the blood coming from the thigh. The older lady came to the windows and as I was explaining how undercooked the chicken was. She saw the blood and told me that that wasn't blood coming from that chicken. Because they uses a thermometer to test the temperature of their chicken. To tell if its fully cooked or not. So I told her that they couldn't have tested the temperature of that chicken because it would've showed that it was undercooked. And she asked me if I wanted some chicken or something else on their menu. And I said no I just want a refund back and she go so mad at me. And slammed the drive through window in my face as I was talking to her. So I started laughing and said don't get mad at me because youre serving people undercooked chicken. But ill never go back to Shanes ever again and if yall ever go there and get the bbq chicken plate. Please check yall food because im sure other people had experience the same thing. The lettuce in my house salad was not fresh at all and contained a decent amount of brown pieces to make me stop eating it. The best thing about the 1/3 burger is the bun I promise. The burger patty reminds me of what I ate in school. I would've said the service was pretty good in the drive thru, but I asked for jalapeños on my salad in order to test the culinary boundaries of Shane's and my salad came with no jalapeños at all. They are good, but I have noticed that their prices have doubled. It looks like, where they are just at the limit before customers wd think or accept that the prive was too high. $65 Lunch for two. I had three meat combo as did my wife. Total was brisket, sausage, pulled pork, ribs. Brisket was tough, flavorless and dry with not even a hint of smoke ring or smoke flavor. Basically it was dry roast beef. "Smoked" Sausage tasted like it was heated in the microwave. No smoke no color. Ribs would be good for a meatless Monday. What they call BBQ ribs are maybe 3 inches long, dry, flavorless, mostly bone with almost 0 flavor from invisible rub. Pulled pork was old, smokeless, and an unsuccesful attempt was made to moisten the meat by drenching it in sauce. Potato Salad, only the finest Foremost brand potato salad. This would only serve to be enjoyed in a 4th grade cafeteria with lunch ladies who hate their job. All in all, a waste of $65. read more

Was out of town all day & when I FINALLY got home...I wanted GOOD bbq so I stopped by Shanes on Youree. I think they have the BEST ribs in town....the flavor is second to none. Sometimes bbq places will serve ribs that have been sitting too long that the actual flavor of "bone" gets in the Ribs and its nasty. We're traveling through the Shreveport, LA area and thought we were going to get some good BBQ and frog legs. We stopped in at Shanes across from the North WalMart. The frog legs were good; just what husband was looking for. However.... I ordered the 3 meat plate. Tried to order 2 ribs and 1 sausage. I was told that they won't let me do that.....why not? So I settled on 1 ribs, 1 brisket, 1 sausage. The sausage was on the cool side of tepid, the ribs were so tough and dry I couldn't eat them and the brisket was just OK. Everything on the plate was dried out. The kernnels of the corn on the cob were all dented in indicating that they had been held hot in the kitchen too long so they weren't full and juicey. And what is going on with hush puppies??? We got 2 hush puppies that were about the size of a large marble, over cooked and DRY as dust. I don't thisk that's how they are supposed to be or foks here in the south don't know what a hush puppy is supposed to be. I have to say that the service was very good. The young wait staff were pleasent and attentive. Through the week we did get some good BBQ - At the Krewe Sobek parade we parked next to Smokin' A's BBQ trailer. It was AMAZING! read more

We visited this Shane's location today for the first time. The following are my thoughts: Service - quick and friendly Drive Thru - definitely a plus! BBQ chicken and sauce - excellent! Good portion; good price; nicely cooked and tender. Side green salad - the dressing was amazeballs! Corn on the cob - nasty. It seemed to have been sitting around for quite some time. The kernels were really dry and didn't even taste like corn. Texas toast - not a fan. Banana pudding - ahhhhhhhh! Huge portion and totally tasty; especially when I added some whipped cream at home. Got my 1st crawfish of the season today. They were served HOT and seasoned JUST RIGHT! Before I ordered I asked what size they were running and the lady said medium. I would say they ran small to medium, maybe 65% small and rest medium. Today I think they were $6.49lb with a 3lb minimum. I also got potatoes and butter sauce. I wanted corn also but she didn't hear me so I missed out on that. No problem. I thought they were very good. Unfortunately a couple behind us said theirs were like water logged, soggy. She was really upset over theirs and they didn't really eat any of theirs. They just left. We got their about 330pm so it wasn't very busy. There was one other guy there eating crawfish but I didn't ask how his were. My wife got a fish plate and all of hers was pretty good. Unfortunately, I haven't found a place close by that has really good catfish. These fillets were thin cut and to me just didn't have a "stand out" taste. Not that they were bad, just not great and I prefer thick cut fillets. I'll be back for more crawfish. I like the way they are seasoned at Shane's. Loooove crawfish, so we came to Shane's to get our fix. Prices were high, so we decided to get the 5 lb special to split between 2 of us. It came with your typical potatoes (4) and corn (2) for $40+. Service was poor. The girl behind the counter couldn't even fake a smile. Clearly did not want to be there. Nonetheless, we wanted crawfish and stayed. Our order came out, and we were disappointed by the size of the crawfish and the size of the order in general. The crawfish lacked flavor and even salt. They were definitely overcooked and too soft. This didn't stop us from eating every last one because 1) we paid for it 2) it's crawfish. A worker asked a couple next to us how they liked their crawfish. They commented on how soft it was, and the man offered to give them 2 extra pounds for free. Very kind gesture! But it was odd because we were sitting right next to this couple with the same overcooked batch, and we were never approached. Unsure why that couple received special treatment while we were overlooked. All in all, I'm glad I got my crawfish fix. But honestly, it was a waste of $40-$50 and a waste of a meal. I'm a big fan of barbecue and seafood under one roof! Options make me happy. My husband just HAD to try the barbecue because we are from Texas and you know how that goes. He got a loaded spud and hush puppies as his side PLUS two whole slices of buttered Texas toast. I will say they ARE generous with the portions! They really loaded that potato too so if you don't like a ton of sour cream/cheese, you may want to request toppings on the side. I wasn't a fan of the ribs, though they were tender they lacked spice. The chicken was really tender in some spots and dry in others? Good flavor there but with the patchy dryness I suspect it may have been old. Someone should also change the frying oil more often because the hush puppies took on a dark color and burnt taste as a result of old oil. My fried oyster po' boy could've been better if the oysters hadn't been...well, I honestly feel like these could be a frozen, pre battered variety as they had a different look and texture than all the other fried oysters I've ever had and resembled a chicken nugget. They weren't BAD but they are definitely in my bottom three because they were fried in the same oil as the pups. I did appreciate that they put all the veggies on the side. The bread was perfect, soft but with a good little inner crust. The fries were cold and undercooked but I didn't have room for them anyway though I would request crispy if there were a next time. We are not from the area and didn't realize there were two Shane's. We drove to the first one but after reading reviews of the large portions and having an almost four hour drive ahead of us, we decided to hold off for a bit and explore the city. We live right around the corner from Shanes and will never pick up or eat there again. We are done. Loaded potato had almost nothing on it, a little bitter, a teaspoonful of sour cream--I mean it was SAD! They no longer have the stuffed shrimp that I did like. Turns out they had a vendor that made them, Shanes just sold them. And the vendor quit selling them. French fries are NOT fresh cut. Hate frozen fries. Even if you order over the phone & then go over to pick up you will sit in line for 30 to 45 minutes. They charge extra for everything, like $2 to use charge card, $2 to add butter to 2 orders of new potatoes, $1 for seasoning for the new potatoes and on & on. This place is not worth the price or the trouble and the food is not that good. About the best thing they have are the boiled new potatoes. How sad is that? And I can do them so easily in my kitchen. And the pricing is crazy, and all adds up to unreal. Like they charged me several dollars more to get a pound of catfish. Menu outside said half pound and whole pound so I ordered a pound. They charged me for 2 half pounds which was way more. I said no the menu said I could get----and the person at window said well my boss said this is how we are to price it. I give up. Done with Shanes. And will tell you that 4 blocks up the street is Crawdaddys, which is really really good and priced way better. Try it, you will like it. read more

So this review is a few months in the making...I recently took a trip to Shreveport with a client to review a portfolio of properties that he was looking to possibly make an offer on. We arrived late in the day and the days were getting shorter, so we finished up in the dark. The local realtor suggested this place for dinner. Never tried the ribs before tonite (they actually let you buy one single rib) which I added to my order. BEST BBQ RIB I have tasted. Once we arrived home we realized that they didnt include any crackers for the two large seafood gumbos we ordered. That was very disappointing. I ordered the pulled pork plate and specified that i wanted the original BBQ sauce, only to find out that they left out the BBQ sauce all together. Thankful I have store bought BBQ sauce at the house, but its not the same. We wanted extra butter sauce for the blackened fish and 1lbs of boiled shrimp only to receive 2 sauces. If you want a quick catfish dinner with most of the fixin's, then this is the place. They have several different options for your catfish cravings. You can choose from a 3 pc., 4 pc., 5 pc., 6 pc., or all you can eat. Each meal comes with coleslaw beans, tomato relish, cajun fries and hushpuppies. I ordered the 3 pc. The fillets weren't that big and the sides aren't that plentiful. So by the end of my meal I was actually still a bit hungry. It's a good thing my grandmother didn't want all of her food so I was able to steal some food from her plate. In fact, my uncle had ordered some Zwolle tamales. I had two of those too. The tamales were really good. A bit salty, but good flavor. I guess, if you want to feel full order at least a 4 pc. meal, if not more. All the food is lightly breaded so it's not too fried. The french fries have a slighly spicy seasoning on them that livens them up. Also, you only get one cup of tartar sauce that quickly runs out. I went up to the counter to ask for more. I thought I was going to have to pay for it because the menu said extra tartar sauce cost $.50. Well, the girl just gave it to me. She said not to worry about it. So that was cool. The place isn't fancy by any means. It's a very casual/laid back place. There were a few TVs airing the Monday Night Football game. It wasn't too crowded either. Shane's also has a drive-thru. The staff here is really quick to get your order out. So you don't have to wait long. Oh, and if you run out of soda or iced tea, there is a soda fountain near the ordering counter that you can refill your cups. The menu has a lot to choose from beyond catfish. You can also order shrimp, oysters, alligator, frog legs, po boys, stuffed crab, gumbo, tamales, crab legs, crab cakes, and desserts. When in season you can also order crawfish and crab live or boiled. In fact, they even offer up bbq. When we first arrived, I noticed one sign that told everyone that you could order cajun turkeys for Thanksgiving. Now, how's that for a livened/spiced up turkey for the holidays. read more

We went all the way to Arkansas for a few days and since we drove from Dallas I was hell bent on eating some crawfish in Louisiana...and, Yelp delivered. Crawfish I had. They don't serve any alcohol so it was fortunate that we stopped at the CVS pharmacy further up the road and bought some local brew which we proceeded to sneak in the back door (literally) and enjoy... It wasn't hard to hide, so I'd recommend doing that. Just make sure to bless your meal really loudly and you shouldn't have any problems with the locals. My boo says the bugs were a little smaller than they should be but perhaps it's just the beginning of the season? The giggles I got out of taunting crawfish holding them in front of my face by a single claw and saying "i'mma eat you!' and the quality of the photo we took outside the restaurant easily put this place at 4 stars as it was the highlight of several days of a trip in the south. read more
