General Tao's #3 star for heat.

Was a great food experience as well as top notch folks. It was joyous and fun both hanging out and enjoying such good (very yummy) food. Watching Jason show us how to clean a crab right off the dock and the service the family gave at their restaurant was impeccable. That will be a must stop every year for me.

    Shanghai special sesame seed beef

We had the egg rolls, pot stickers, egg drop soup, pork fried rice, and the shanghai special sesame seed beef and ALL dishes were DELICIOUS. Service was excellent and this is my favorite Chinese restaurant I have found in the PNW since moving from another state 14 years ago. I actually gave up on Chinese restaurants in Washington and Oregon, but we stumbled across this one and gave it a try, and was surprised how amazing all the dishes are. I will drive three hours just to eat here again. I am jealous of everyone that lives in Port Townsend, because they could eat here as often as they would like. I highly recommend going here to eat- you won't be disappointed!!!!

My son and I are big fans of Shanghai Chinese! One of the owners (and chefs) always comes out to crack a few jokes with my 12-year-old son and goes out of his way to customize our order (my son dislikes vegetables so the chef always asks him exactly how many carrots he wants in his sweet and sour chicken, and he also adds my favorite fried tofu to the garlic beans dish I always get). This last visit, he went over the top and created incredible food art on our plate (see pic below). And of course, the food is delicious-!

This place has been upgraded -- we were really impressed. Definitely the best on the peninsula. Pot stickers are hand-made and pan-fried like they should be, specials are handwritten and change often. We had the special salt and pepper tofu which was both delicate and flavorful. The Shanghai beef with sesame -- flavorful, velvety goodness. I do recommend you actually order Chinese food (as opposed to the Thai they have) as they're really good at it. Will be a regular.

It's a nice change of pace from your typical Chinese service where quality of food matters most and service does not. There is a nice parking lot but they ask you to scan a QR code and enter your license plate to avoid being towed. Dry Wok Tossed Green Beans - solid green beans with a generous amount of sauteed garlic and onions. Tasty with many flavors including savory, salty, umami. Hard to miss with green beans. Combination Dinner - I figured it'd be too good for the combos to have a full sized entree, but was interested in trying the sides. Combos come with an egg roll, two dumplings, a small soup, and rice. We went with option C for the honey walnut shrimp and they were tasty, but I wish we ordered the full size entree because I wanted more. Maybe a little extra on the breading for authentic honey walnut shrimp, but the shrimp meat was still evident.

Located in Port Townshend next to the Washington Ferry. The interior is not fancy or lined with gold chandeliers but there is some harbor and shore views. I feel I ordered the best things here. I got the appetizer tofu (no spice, just on the side) and it was mouth popping little squares of addictive mochi-like puffs. I also ordered the SIZZLING SEAFOOD! It had clean whole shrimp, (no shell, tail or veins), mini scallops, imitation crab and veggies. The sizzle was such a celebration.

The person at the counter was…read moreon the phone but didn't acknowledge us at all when we arrived (as I would have when I used to work in restaurants, but I guess that's just my customer service experience talking). Then a man came up to pay while we were waiting and after she hung up the phone, she immediately started helping him, again without acknowledging we were standing there. Pretty poor form if I'm honest, and was a not-great introduction to the business. The place was pretty packed so we had a 20-minute wait. Fine, not terrible, and we needed to eat and had no guarantees anywhere else would be faster. Tyler was our server and was one of those servers with the superhuman trait of being able to hold a table's order in his memory. I will never know how they do this. We ordered the dumplings and egg flower soup for the kiddo and veggie chow mein and crab cheese wontons for me. The kitchen was backed up so everything was coming out piecemeal (which is fine with me, I'd rather have it when it's fresh). The egg flower soup was good and the dumplings as well. My chow mein was delicious and while maybe could have used a LITTLE more sauce, was well worth it. My kiddo who isn't a chow mein eater even had some! We never got the crab cheese wontons, so whether that was a kitchen issue or a server's possibly human-after-all's memory, I'll never know. Either way it wasn't an issue as I was pretty full at that point and it would have been too much food. It was a bit overpriced for what you get but it was what we needed so I can't complain (except for that service at the front desk, which have I mentioned was terrible?).
