After questioning, the restaurant states menu pricing is wrong online. That isn't good. The pot stickers were hard as rocks - ordered salt & pepper squid. They said no squid. Nothing to be scared about!!! After the reviews on here I was really nervous to go into this place, but I needed a Wonton Soup and I didn't want to drive to Port Townsend. When I pulled up I was still nervous, but when I walked in, the place was clean and I watched the cook make the food and it was definitely authentic. The lady that took my order was so pleasant to talk to. The leap of faith did me right. I only ordered Pot Stickers and Wor WONTON SOUP, But the food was on point. The pot stickers were fresh, hot and the dipping sauce was fantastic!!! Even has a little spicy kick to it but not to much! The soup was hot, the veggies were fresh and the wontons and meat were plentiful! The broth was delicious. We were so delighted to find the Joy Luck restaurant. The employee who answered the phone (and later delivered it to our waiting car) was very pleasant and helpful. We ordered several dishes (Kung Pac shrimp, sesame chicken, broccoli beef, hot/sour soup, pork fried rice, and egg rolls) and they were all outstanding! I was concerned that the egg rolls might lose crispiness before we got home , but they were delightful and delicious. We had enough fantastic food for 3 of us for over 3 meals each. Ordered a chicken and veggies stir fry, way too much rice. Had to dump it in the waste can at the neighboring QFC. The food was hot and had massive amounts of broccoli and mushrooms. Both I love. We were excited when we opened the containers it looked fresh and the veggies were cooked perfectly however the beef and broccoli was too salty and the beef was unchewable. Just stopped in to this restaurant and had EXTREMELY racist experience! My husband and I (we are interracial) walked in, to pick up our order with our three year old daughter. The owners children were sitting at the counter and began talking to and interacting with her. The owner immediately rushed in, snatched up her kids aggressively, scolded them, all while giving our daughter and us the most disgusted dirty looks I have ever witnessed!! It was so shocking that the poor server apologized profusely for the owners behavior and explained that she only worked there. We got a refund and left. This is our favorite Chinese restaurant in the Port Townsend, Port Hadlock, Chimacum area. Prices are very reasonable, and the food is hot and fresh when you get it. We've been coming here for a number of years, and it's consistent, something that's often hard to find, especially in a semi-rural area. Very generous portions are PACKED into the traditional style white paper containers. We are about 2-1/2mi from them, and normally from the time I call, and drive there, the food is ready when I arrive. Highly recommended! read more

Five years ago, I would duck into the tiny lunch counter on a cold winter day and order an egg-drop soup with broccoli for about $5. A great lunch, filling and with fresh and bright broccoli. The owner is always on hand, and hands on, and you can hear her arguing with her chef in the tiny, two-wok kitchen (always a good sign). She cares about the preparations and does much of the prep-work herself in the pms, rolling out the won-ton wrappers. Prices--under $10 for most entrees--can't be beat. Despite the somewhat mixed reviews we decided to give them a try. We were not disappointed, the food was very good and reasonably priced. We had the Orange Chicken and BBQ pork fried rice which was enough for the both of us for two meals. We were impressed when they pulled a fresh orange out of the cooler for our order. Personally I'm a huge General General Tso's fan. That's all I've ever ordered from here, and 7 times out of 10 it is really decent! The other 3 were over cooked. It was still not bad though and way better than Safeway could ever imagine lol! To their credit, Joy Luck are the only ones around the area of Jefferson County that can make it tender on the inside and and The perfect crunch on the outside. My only downfall I have is sometimes the chicken pieces are way too big. If you're on the go, the plastic knife will not cut through those big chunks, and you're on your own till you find a knife. But I'm sure if you specify for a smaller cut pieces it would never be an issue. Not much to be able to complain about. read more

The food is actually a little hit-or-miss, I've found. I think it's a matter of who's in the kitchen; most of the time it's perfectly acceptable generic Chinese food, but occasionally it's way too salty or otherwise just not very good. I've had the mu shu pork a few times now and it's typically been okay, as has the curry chicken and the general tso's. The sweet and sour sauce is really bland, as are the egg rolls, but overall I'm changing my rating to 3 stars. Original Review: (1 star) Really disappointing.
