Decent portions. Good flavor on the food, but was a bit luke warm which was confusing because it all came out pretty fast. The only thing that was a damper on the dinner was our server. Tall white guy with the baseball cap is a weirdo. Maybe he was having a bad day but he was passive aggressive, snappy, and just had very poor serving etiquette. Stopped here with my good friend. We bought food to go. We ate along the water at some picnic tables. However, the ambiance in the restaurant was lovely, they had these neat modern lights that I wish I would have gotten a picture of! I ordered pad see ew to go. They said it would take 20-25 minutes (it was a busy lunch rush on a Tuesday). That time frame was accurate and I waited with no issue because I was on vacation with friends. The pad see ew was average, in my opinion. The noodles were a bit over cooked and mushy which wasn't ideal. The chicken was cooked well and I asked for a spice level 1, which was done to my liking. If I was in town again, I'd stop here and definitely try another dish. I love supporting mom and pop shops! read more

I first tried Banana Leaf this past summer. I found the service to be quick and friendly and the Fresh Rolls with Shrimp was a generous portion. This visit I tried the Pineapple Fried Rice with Shrimp. The presentation was mouthwatering and I wasn't sure I'd be able to eat the entire portion. However, it was so delicious I felt a bit embarrassed having asked, up front, for a take-out box that I did not use! I LOVE Thai food and I'm pretty picky when it comes to taste, service, atmosphere and price. Absolutely will be returning and referring! read more

Had a wonderful lunch here recently with my friend as she recommended it. Service was perfect -- attentive but not overly so. We could hear each other well. Decor is charming and lovely. And the food was delicious! She had a yellow curry and I had a gluten-free pad thai which is such a treat for me as not every Thai restaurant has it gluten-free (probably bc of soy sauce I suppose). I've ordered from Banana Leaf in late 2021 and enjoyed their food. My experience this time was very disappointing in contrary. I ordered the seafood sukiyaki noodle soup because it seemed intriguing, even though sukiyaki technically is "Japanese mini-hotpot". Honestly, I should've known better and avoided a Japanese dish on a Thai restaurant's menu. I remembered their spicy level being no joke, and the sukiyaki was supposed to have a "spicy sesame broth base", so I asked for a 3/5 spicy level. That was also a big mistake. The broth reminded me of sesame-infused sugar water - bland with a subtle sweetness (???) and a lot of sesame seeds floating on it. I saw some sign of red oil in the broth but couldn't tell if it was chili oil, since there wasn't even a hint of spiciness. All the ingredients - seafood, mushroom, veggies, and egg were flavorless. The appetizers we shared were okay. Our waitress was nice and friendly. Even though she was the only staff serving 6+ tables, she kept a positive attitude. I really appreciated that. read more

I always get yellow curry at Thai restaurants and this one was pretty good. Not my all time fave but I'd still get it again. They seem to be pretty good with food allergies and working around those. Honestly, we did order to go and not dined in so I understand that presentation of food can look not ideal packaged. However, I requested one star since we are feeding my toddler. This was not one star but more like even 3. Beware and buyer warning. Also not sure why there was only two strands of bok choy in my Singaporean noodles. Pad Thai had like only noodles. My son only at his fried rice since it was not spicy. He liked it which is why I'm giving them 3 stars. My husband ordered the larb and they only offered chicken. It was good. read more

We took a chance on this place and learned that it's very underrated. The food is excellent. I ordered the Duck Noodle soup and a daily special, Chinese Sausage Fried Rice. Both were amazing. The soup broth was rich in delectable earthy tones and the duck serving was generous, perhaps an entire duck breast sliced with the fatty skin still on and perfectly cooked. The rice was my favorite, the sausage was sweet and made surprisingly from chicken. The dish was topped with pork floss which added texture, saltiness, and fat that balanced out the sausage bright the whole dish too a culinary acme. The service was a bit slow, but they also seemed understaffed, (in fact all the restaurants in the city seemed desperate for additional help) so we set our expectations accordingly. I don't like to be bothered much at restaurants by the staff so this suited us fine. Even the bathrooms were clean and comfortable. Definitely check this place out if you're in the area and hankering for some Thai. read more

The food was excellent! We sat outside on an October hot day. The food was soo good. My husband had the lemongrass chicken that was cooked to perfection. The chicken was tender and it even had salad. I had the duck curry dish, and the duck tasted like fillet mignon but, tender and the curry sauce gave it a unique better test. It came accompanied with carrots , broccoli, and green beans and rice. This place has really gone downhill in the past year. I ordered Pad Thai with tofu and got THE WORST Pad Thai I've ever been served. The rice noodles were over cooked and mushy, and there were no vegetables on it except for a handful of bean sprouts. There was hardly any flavoring. I returned the "Pad Thai" and asked for my money back ($18!!) and was refused. Left my phone number and name for the owner to call me, and never heard back. Since the pandemic two of our great Asian restaurants have changed ownership. The golden ocean and banana leaf. I think they were purchased by Italian chefs who hate Asian foods. We had terrible Pad Thai, a side of sticky rice which was maybe a quarter of a small container wrapped in plastic wrap like a little brick. When my Chinese child says it's awful...it's awful! The pork fried rice was the same chicken as the pad Thai and equally unseasoned. The spring rolls were again wrapped in plastic and put onto of the super hot rice (they should be served cold). The sweet salad that is to be served with the say tai (sp?) was four pieces of veggies swimming on bitter sauce. We used to eat here often but had heard the rumours they went downhill. We took a chance tonight and we are very sorry we did. We will never go back. We eat a lot of all types of Asian foods as it is a favourite for my kids from China. To them it's comfort food. This...was anything but comfort. Panda garden does better and that's BAD. read more

I've been ordering from this restaurant since 2019, and today my order was very disappointing -- especially the customer service. Always ordered the same thing from the Banana leaf Thai Bistro, and I'm absolutely shocked from my experience! Todays order: 1 Chicken Satay 2 Fresh spring roll (tofu) 1 pot stickers Only received 3 chicken satay pieces (normally there's 4) For the last three years I've ordered the fresh spring rolls daily, and today I noticed they changed the rice wrap. Ok that's fine - but they were falling apart in the Saran Wrap they package them in (in pictures). The first bite or even just picking them up they fall to pieces... they're normally perfect so I was surprised! Never received the pot stickers. My friend who called in the order called back to the restaurant when we got back to the house (20 minute drive home), and the employee who picked up the phone was the same one who took our order. We nicely told her we never received the pot stickers, and if we could get a refund. Also, we mentioned how poorly made the fresh spring rolls were -- just to let them know because they're normally great. The women barely spoke (our servers name was Neya), and when she did it was very rude. Said, "well what can I do for you then?" We replied asking for a refund for just the pot stickers, and she said "I can give you credit for your next meal, or I guess I can somehow figure out how I can give you a refund" we reluctantly accepted credit for our next meal, because we were so frustrated since we had only 3 chicken sticks we could share, and she was so rude + uneducated! The server who took our order originally was named Neya (was typed out on our receipt) Thought I'd write a review and let others know about my experience! Hopefully it was just an off day, but I won't be coming back after that experience. I really enjoy the food, and supporting local businesses but that was incredibly unacceptable for an employee to talk to a customer like that! read more

I've been to Thai restaurants from San Diego to Seattle and this is the absolute worst I've ever experienced. Chicken Pad Thai seemed like it was cooked the night before and re-heated. It did not taste fresh, and the noodles looked like they'd been around a while. Both the flavor, the texture and even the appearance was off. The chicken with the Pad Thai and it was awful, even my husband, who likes just about everything thought it was bad. He said his curry dish was " just ok" Tom Kha soup was flavorless and once again the appearance was off. Bland. I've never had bad Tom Kha soup in 30 years of eating Thai food. We were greeted by Osha who is one of the friendliest , most efficient servers I've had the pleasure to meet. In Fact I think she did everything except cook the food. And speaking of food. I had the golden cashew chicken. And to this date it was the tastiest chicken cashew I've had. And I have never had so many cashews in one meal, and I'm in it for the cashews. We really enjoyed our meals here. Service was not the warmest or friendliest I've ever had but I care more about the food anyway, and the food was great. We both got the specials of the day: the Mango Ginger Curry with Tofu and the Lemongrass Mahi Mahi. We got the mushroom wontons for the appetizer because they were out of spring rolls. Normally wouldn't have got the wontons but I'm glad we did because they were hot, crispy, and savory! The way the meals are plated and with some of the menu options this does not feel like your basic Thai restaurant. I would definitely come back to try more on the menu if I'm ever in Port Townshend again. read more

5 of us came here around 6pm on a Tuesday. Seated right away and a bit of a wait to order drinks and food, but it was a little busy. After we ordered, and things slowed a bit our service was way better! My water glass never dropped below half a cup. We got our food rather quickly. I would say if you like spicy and think you're a person that likes spicy food then 3-4 level is your level. They amp it up a bit compared to what I'm used to in Reno. I wish I knew what all my friends got, but we all ordered differently and we all were very happy! I had the Singapore noodles and omgosh amazing! The ladies are super sweet, like I said before I don't think they meant to make us wait long initially because they were very attentive after the first couple of minutes. Now just cabbage, a few mini slices of carrots and I kid you not 2 small bits of broccoli for $20. $80 to feed four Dirty pickup window, The inside looks like a giant storage locker.
