Large selection but very little help from the limited staff. there are so many beer places that are happy to help you with selection and put the beer in your car for you. Dont expect that here. If you are buying common every day beers. you do not need this place. If you are looking for weird brews, go to Wegmans. After seeing so many reviews about poor customer service on here, I have to weigh in. Maybe I just look like a person who needs help, and I do usually have one or two small children with me, so maybe that's it, but I almost always get asked if I need help within a few minutes, and generally get good advice (I'm usually buying for my husband, with some loose sort of guidelines on beer type). I also never attempt to carry a case to the register myself, either. If you just decide what you want and go to the register and tell them, they'll ring it up and have someone get it and bring it to your car for you. If you love the sport of beer drinking as much as I do then Shangy's is the place to go. The selection is impressive and may be somewhat intimidating to the novice beer drinker. However, if you are looking to please a crowd it is your one stop shop. Everyday beers to off the wall variety packs can be found by the case loads :) Enjoy! read more

I only shopped at Shangy's once, and it is interesting to see their beer selection. But after walking around for ten minutes I finally had to ask if they had the Angry Orchard I was looking for (strange for a popular drink to be stuck in a far corner or the building.) Even then I had to ask (was not offered!) for one of the half dozen idle employees to help carry the case for me and help me load it into my car. Although polite, service could be a bit more attentive. Price was ok I guess, but specialty beers cost more. read more

Best selection of beer, super clean and very nice staff. The descriptions included in each sign they have on top of the cases of beer are very helpful and I love being able to walk around and find the perfect case. Prices are wonderful as well. I wish they had a larger selection of cold beers, but obviously space is limited. Either way, definitely stop by Shangy's and stroll through the aisles for awhile; it's worth the trip! read more

A fairly large beer distributor with a huge selection of great beer. The entire floor is packed with great craft and bigger breweries. This is the only place on the east coast that carries certain breweries so you can always find some unique beer here. Prices are pretty good considering the variety and rarity. Service is also very nice and helps carry beer out to your car. It's gets packed on weekends. read more

You've gotta tip your hat to a wholesaler that controls the market for particular brands and doesn't exhorbitantly mark up the price. To further extend kudos, restricting sales of the most sought-after brands to one per customer ensures that everyone gets some, not just the hoarders. Another review mentioned they wouldn't get a brand if they didn't wholesale it or carry it, I beg to differ. Founders comes to mind, in that they carry a supply of it due to customer demand. Regarding the case law, it is what it is. Find 3 friends and split 4 cases if you want a six pack so bad. Service and value are exceptional, what more do you want from a beer distributor? read more

one of the better selections around town. Would get more stars if they would ship the beers I ordered to my local retailer. I know they have in stock and the retailer said Shangy's will have it on the truck for delivery....but....they don't send it. Saves me a long trip to their retail location. read more

5 stars, simply as a beer distributor. Very clean store. Unbelievable selection, especially for European beers from Germany, Begium, Great Britain. I requested the manager, Matt, to order me a very hard to get German beer and set it aside for me. He followed through exactly as promised, and called me when it came in. Even put it away for me until I could get to the store. Was a very nice, customer-oriented guy. Even though it's 35 miles from where I live, I will most definitely make a return trip. The incompetence that I experienced today while I was attempting to pick up a keg from this establishment, something that I had pre-ordered, turned out to be a major inconvenience, a complete annoyance, and a massive disappointment with the service u received. I purchased my keg beforehand, left a deposit, and when I went to pick up the order, I was given a tap that did not fit the keg that I had ordered. I drove 25 mins back to the distributor, returned the first tap and got another, only to get home a other 39 mins later to find out that I was still given another tap that did not fit the keg. On my third attempt, I decided to bring the keg back with me this time along with the tap that still was not functioning. This entire ordeal took approx 2.5 hours, which pulled me away from my sons 40th birthday party. I was not offered any sort of apology or consolation for the inconvenience that this caused me. I felt that the service I received was extremely unprofessional and the ordeal was mishandled. read more

As supposed Beer enthusiasts according to their website, I looked forward to calling them for help in finding a beer for which they are the only distributors in a section of Pennsylvania. I was let down. The person on the phone was extremely unfriendly and unhelpful. Probably for the best since several other reviews note they sell expired beer. read more

While Shangy's has an incredible selection of beer if you buy anything that is obscure the chances are that it will be old and taste like crap. I used to live next to their store and frequented them all the time until I got tired of buying expensive beer that was bad. I finally went to retun two cases of expensive German beer that was skunked and the owner was very rude and refused to take it back. I have never gone back since and I usually avoid any beer that I know he distributes to other stores since it is likely to be outdated. It is a shame that this man has this type of selection and doesn't take any pride in it!!!!!! read more

sells stale beer. I'm a bargain hunter and shangy's has a clearance section. most of the bargain cases I bought were good, but I've now purchased two cases in the last few months that were very outdated. I know I'm taking a chance with bargains, but the beer should at least be drinkable. I confirmed the age of the two cases by contacting the breweries directly and both breweries said they were going to have the remaining bargain cases pulled from shangy's shelf. read more

One main feature which Shangy's should develop is an online listing of the beers that they carry. When I questoned the owner why none exists his retort was "we like talking to our customers". Around Philadelphia and its suburbs, a wider selection cannot be had. read more

Love the selection and prices. The store is nicely laid out. The owner has taken the time to place his review on some of the stock. His advice is mostly on target. Additionally, there is always someone there who can give sound advice. My only issue is that they could do a better job of marking the prices on the cases that line the walls, or at least have a master price board on display. read more

Absolutely wonderful distributor for a craft beer consumer- the only downside to this place is that they are a little bit unorganized. They have many cases of seemingly random beer stacked along the outside walls but it is definitely worth going to if you are in the Allentown area. read more

They have a good selection of beer. But they don't know how to treat the employees and they also run them into the ground. So if u need beer go to the store. But if u need a job don't go their because they don't appreciate anything u do plus they want u to sacrifice everything just to deliver beer for them. read more

Today I went to Shangy's as I have been for many years. I was treated with the utmost disrepect while checking out. The lady, I mean cashier, said something to me which I didn't understand, because I wear Two Hearing Aids. I kindly asked her TO REPEAT WHAT SHE SAID, and the issue followed. She then said to me in a very broken way "Do you have a chip in your card"? I in turn answered the same way to her "yes I do have a chip in my card"! It will be a long time, IF EVER that I go back there. And speaking of "CHIPS", the one on her shoulder should be removed. Thank you for making fun of my disability!!!!! read more

Shangy's is the largest distributor in the area and if they don't have it, they can get it. Good prices, well organized and clean. The original owner was great, he knew every beer and was always more than helpful. The son I hear is a little different. If you're into beer, this place is worth the drive. read more
