Shannon is the BEST. She was our wedding photographer. She. Was. Awesome! First, we had to change the time of our wedding ceremony because of potential rain. I called Shannon the day before the wedding and she changed her schedule to make it work! Who does that!? Shannon does. She was SO willing to be flexible. Next, Shannon had quite the job lined up for her as we are two VERY UN-photogenic people. In addition to this challenge, my husband and I have a 16" height difference. Tl;dr- Shannon and Aaron are amazing! Communication is easy and they listen to what you want. They're reasonable, and their food suggestions are as strong as their photography skills. As a local girl living in the east coast, my Hawaiian Time is pushed back more by the time zone but, communication with Shannon was really easy. She responded quickly and concisely to all of my questions. Then, when I mentioned I needed to hit up some food spots while I was home, she and Aaron even gave me some solid suggestions on where to go. If they give you a food recommendation, take it! They will not steer you wrong. Wedding day- I'm not very comfortable in front of a camera normally but Shannon made me feel so comfortable it wasn't an issue. She even got my (now) husband to have fun with it. She and Aaron were willing to go with whatever weird idea I had, and we all had some laughs in the process. Met this humble but passionate woman at a friends wedding this past weekend. They say a picture says 1000 words, but No words can describe her artistry in her profession. At first I was mostly impressed with how she flowed at the wedding and was so approachable and kind. Then I asked for her card cause I wanted her to do some real estate photos for me cause I loved her passion. When i has some time and got home I went on to her website. And whats amazing to me is not her ability to capture the moment or do it in a way that will leave a lifetime of great memories but what I loved about her work was that she also captured the emotion. We could not have been more pleased with Shannon Sasaki Photography's services. She has this gift for putting couples at ease and capturing both posed and candid photos. She and her assistant Aaron took so many photos throughout the day in various places, shot different poses, and there were so many beautiful photos to choose from ranging from tender moments between my husband and I, to sitting our Pom, Kimo perfectly in the shots, to large group photos of the wedding party. The photos helped us to relive the day and we felt the love, joy, and laughter from our special moments all over again. Shannon was my photographer for my engagements and for my big day last week! I was so excited that she was available to come out to California on a holiday weekend and cover my wedding! Throughout the whole planning process, Shannon was very easily accessible through email and that made things less stressful the day of the wedding. I hired Shannon as a photographer for my wedding in Hawaii on April 27, 2020. Unfortunately, the wedding was during the peak of the pandemic and had to be cancelled due to the shelter-in-place and venue being closed. As our wedding was planned back in December 2019, without notice of an impending pandemic, it was devastating that our wedding had to be cancelled involuntarily. Shannon's retainer was 50% of the deposit roughly $1,400 with a contract that simply declined refunds for "any reason". No specifics and no force majeure. This would mean that Shannon would keep your money regardless of any disaster or unpredictable circumstance. Since this was a destination wedding with no family or friends living in Hawaii, postponing was not an option. She offered credit towards her services, which means absolutely nothing to us. She knew that my fiancé lives in Fl, and I live in NJ...thus, giving us credit to use her services was an easy option for her, with no consideration for the financial burden or complicated logistics for us. There have been plenty of wedding vendors that have gone against their contract and given clients 100% of their money back, no questions asked. As a photographer, no time, money, or effort had been spent on our money. No services were rendered, PERIOD. I have attempted to reach out to Shannon regarding a full refund, which she declined. BUT she had the audacity to send a card and a package of M&Ms as a way to "cheer" us up during the quarantine. Her words are empty and she clearly does not feel sorry or feel devastated for us. What's devastating is to lose the money I saved up for years to plan my dream wedding. If Shannon was genuinely empathetic she would've given us our money back so we can use it towards re-planning our wedding day. It's really unfortunate and sad to see people like this taking advantage of the pandemic. It's stressful and difficult enough to deal with the heartbreak of a canceled wedding, but to have vendors take your money without providing a service is putting salt in the wounds. This is an example of the pandemic bringing out the worst in people, so I wouldn't recommend Shannon. Once she has your money it is hers to keep no matter the circumstance. There are plenty of other reasonable and compassionate photographers out there. read more

I don't even know where to start. We were planning a destination wedding in Hawaii from California. Even though we had been many times before, we were unsure about hiring vendors. Shannon was the first vendor (even before the wedding coordinator) that we choose. Her positive reputation preceded her, and we were not disappointed. She was fabulous from start to finish. She took care of all of our questions and helped us create our photography must-have list long before we arrived on the island. The pictures were all we could have hoped and dreamed for and more. Shannon is a really good friend of mine, and it's been amazing to watch her grow her business on her own. So this may skew my review a little, but trust me, it doesn't matter if you're a stranger, Shannon will treat you exactly the same. My boyfriend and I have done two couples photo shoots with Shannon. We are not models by any means, and I thought it would be so awkward to be in front of the camera, but that wasn't the case at all! Shan talks you through everything and makes it all feel very natural... It's also really fun because she is really creative, so you end up going to very different and unexpected places to take your photos. For us, the first shoot we did was at night, in downtown Honolulu. The second one we did was a wedding shoot ... We weren't actually getting married, but Shannon wanted to do a few "trash the dress" type photos, because normally real brides don't want to get their dresses dirty :). I squeezed into my old prom dress, and we got some dress clothes for my bf. We shot photos at a bus stop, climbed some trees near Diamond Head crater, and finally went over to the fountain at Kapiolani park, looked around for cops and jumped in! That was so much fun, it was pretty cold but I couldn't stop laughing ... Which made it really hard to avoid swallowing the water. Probably wasn't the cleanest, but it was so worth it. I am actually another wedding vendor (hair and makeup artist to be exact). I have got the honor of working along side of Shannon twice now. Both times have been an excellent experience for both myself and the client. I think with photographers, naturally they take on more of a role than just someone who takes your photos for one of the most important days of your life. They also kind of coordinate in many ways, and they are a lot of times responsible for setting the mood and ora of how your day will go. With Shannon, she was always so pleasant to work with you can tell she made the bride and her party feel very comfortable even being that they are not models and this was most of their first times getting their picture professionally taken. Besides her "just another one of your girlfriends" personality, it's apparent her work speaks for itself. When you look through her pictures, you see actually want to smile. FIRST GUY POST: I can say that Shannon Sasaki is a true professional. She did our engagement and wedding photography. Our engagement photos are amazing. We just had our wedding, so we haven't received those yet. What sets her apart is her skills and patience/attitude. It seemed like my wife kept asking Shannon if we could do more pictures with different backgrounds and props, without hesitation Shannon enthusiastically obliged her requests with a smile.
