Dr. Harris takes his time to explain the course of action and never feel rushed. I moved an hour away, but well worth the drive to get quality medical care.

I very much like Dr. Stephen Peterson, my…read moreprimary care physician from this practice, but I have now had 3 separate issues with their billing department. 1. I was charged for a full 30+ minute visit ($255) for what was actually a virtual Covid diagnosis call, which should have been something like $25 as advertised at their office. This happened 10 months ago and I am still getting the run around from their billing department. I spoke to someone months ago who said she was looking into it and has never called me back. Their outgoing voice mail says they will return voice messages within 24 hours. They have not once called me back after 3 or 4 follow-up inquiries. 2. They charge a higher amount for 30 minutes-or-less visit, as they do for a 31-to-40 minute visit. If I schedule a 30 minute visit, and it happens to go over by a minute or two, I don't think it's my responsibility to watch the clock. I find it dishonest to let the appointment run over and then charge me more. The efficiency of the office flow should be on them, not the patient. I am not a difficult patient who sticks around and asks multiple extra questions. This happened on a different office visit than the Covid call mentioned above. Strike 2. 3. I just got charged a $25 appointment cancelation fee for a recent appointment I had to miss due to showing Covid symptoms. From my point of view, I didn't cancel the appointment -- they did! Of course, no once answers when you try to call and discuss (see point 1). 3 strikes, time to move on to someone else.

My previous doctor that I tried turned out to be one of the worst experiences and I never returned. I actually don't like going to the doctors because I feel most of the time that my time is wasted and I feel like an inconvenience. However, I found this office and made an appointment. The entire process from start to finish was unbelievably easy and pleasant. When I called to make the appointment, I assumed I would have to schedule the appointment for a month or two in advance since I would be a "new patient" (like my previous office made me do). Nope! The lady on the phone scheduled me for an appointment right away. So easy I couldn't believe it! I go in for my appointment, the atmosphere was cozy and pleasant. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I checked in, filled in all my paperwork on the computers they provide and was called back within minutes. My doctor was Dr. Brayboy. I just want to say he is and will my doctor for a very long time!! He actually listens to what I am saying, explains things in detail, takes his time, very knowledgeable and I genuinely felt that he cared about my well-being. I can't say that I've ever experienced this before and I can't explain how happy and relieved to know that there are still great doctors out there. What I thought was also nice about this office is that they have a pharmacy literally in the waiting room, so when I finished up, Dr. Brayboy sent over the prescription and it was ready within 10 minutes. Also, they didn't have a prescription that I needed but got it in the next day- they will deliver it to me! Overall, I loved the atmosphere, the staff, the doctor, the pharmacy onsite, the process from start to finish! I HIGHLY recommend this office!!!!!

If you're looking for a new doctor's office, skip all Avance Care locations. After years of…read moreheadaches and being treated like a number, I'm moving on. The doctors and PAs aren't the problem--they're professional and capable. It's the system they operate within. It's profit-driven, demands unnecessary follow-ups, uses platforms that constantly malfunction, and if you find a doctor you like, don't get attached. They leave. Here's what pushed me over the edge: I submitted a prescription refill request a week ago, a few days before I ran out. I've sent multiple messages and left voicemails. When I finally reached someone today, I got attitude and zero accountability. My provider had been out for over a week with no coverage plan. Nobody was monitoring her messages or prescription requests. No one communicated this. My voicemails went unreturned. When I called to ask what was happening, I was told: "I'm not responsible for anyone else. It's not my problem." That's Avance Care in a nutshell.

I've always enjoyed interacting with staff, nurses, PA's, and doctors. They were always super-kind and even made sure during cold/flu season to make sure that patients with possible infectious viruses waited in a lobby that's separate from a waiting room for people coming in for other concerns so that communicable viruses are less likely to be shared amongst patients. Since the merger with UNC, I've tried to be patient with staff who are struggling to master what appear to be very complicated systems and record storage. The reception folks no longer have personable contact with patients, who wait in line for 10-25 minutes, with no regard for communicable diseases and no separate waiting area for folks who may be infectious. I've been in line more than once when a patient began to collapse, and we fellow patients are their only direct line of care. Staff are noticeably frustrated; their work days must be incredibly stressful. The UNC merger took place almost a year ago, and still staff whom I know to be super-smart, kind, and compassionate are struggling to master "the new system." Patients who check out have to go back to stand in the same line as patients checking in; there's no sign indicating there's a separate line for check-outs. I feel such sympathy for the staff at the front office. It must be awful for them. Those who have been there for several years seem cored-out, burnt out. I can't imagine why the practice hasn't ironed out the kinks in the "new" system that's no longer new, or found ways to treat patients kindly from the moment we walk in through the door knowing that we patients are experiencing concerns and exposure to communicable diseases before we even get checked in or called to an exam room. Staff morale seems low, and I wish there were something we patients could do to help front-office staff have a better experience and be able to focus on patients more than their computers.

This has been the worst experience I've had with UNC ever and I have seen many doctors and nurses through UNC. They do not read anything that is written inside MyChart nor do they respond to pharmacy requests to change a medication which is a medication that I rely on for my life. I do not recommend anyone adding this practice to their health care. There are other UNC practices throughout the triangle that are top notch and are much better than this one. I will be searching for another UNC practice soon.

I recently brought my mother to live with me who is 70. I was seeking more comprehensive patient care as a caregiver to someone with dementia. CenterWell delivered. Our first visit was impressive! This location is excellent. This is one of the best looking primary care facilities I've visited. Very warm, bright, immaculately clean and inviting. The reception staff greeted us at the door upon arrival. Latisha was excellent assisting us with a warm welcome and helpful information for other resources. We met with Nana Addai who took her time meeting with us and asking questions. The medical assistant was phenomenal as well. They treated my mom with respect and provided a comprehensive assessment for memory testing and checked her feet. Many providers have skipped this in the past. As a patient with diabetes, this is crucial. Mom received a senior goodie bag after her visit. With a ton of helpful resources for seniors. This site is equipped with snacks and a cute coffee station. We were grateful for the Green Mountain hazelnut k-cups, Skinny Pop and Kind granola. This isn't something doctor's offices offer typically. After her assessment, she completed lab work and we joined the Fitness Friday Chair Exercise class in the activity room. This class was high energy !!! The instructor was excellent and the women attending the class seem to have formed a community of regulars. It is excellent that they go above and beyond providing this program for seniors in the community. I appreciate the staff offering outside resources. I highly recommend CenterWell and Humana as an insurance company.

Beginning from the top, with the less proficient education of their doctor, LaToya Fulton. Unless a patient is naïve and/or oblivious, the medical incompetence is obvious throughout this practice. Their lack of available doctors makes it more difficult to treat their patients in a timely manner. That's one reason why they're not a reliable medical practice, especially for seniors. During my 6 months, their patient portal never worked, Dr. Fulton wouldn't prioritize my cold symptoms enough to schedule me in to see her, so I had no other choice but to call a more professional, competent, and compassionate medical practice. Although previously, I saw Dr. Fulton's PA, and she stated in her visitation summary that my pain started weeks ago, when actually, I told her it returned weeks ago but started a year ago. Details are important, although you'll never know they know this. Unfortunately, I relied on them again, even though I hadn't heard back from Dr. Fulton previously. This so-called medical practice is dangerous, because it's the total opposite of what it portrays itself to be. You'll be better off using Duke, UNC, or Wake Med. All three have working portals and their doctors won't ignore you when you need them most. I started to take Dr. Fulton's ignorance and incompetence personally, but I realized that subjugated people like her have their own agendas. Obviously, she can't differentiate being blessed from being cursed, which I should've taken into consideration when we first met. In ALL of my years CenterWell has to be the most medically dysfunctional practice and it need to be discontinued before they're sued for medical malpractice.
