The service here was reasonably prompt though a bit overly familiar. We visited for brunch, and they provided both a specific brunch menu as well as the general dining menu, presenting us with a concerningly excessive number of options. The execution turned out as flawed as expected - the chicken and waffle were quite dry, served with a modest amount of underflavored compound butter. The syrup was a grotesque pancake syrup, unforgivable in general but especially in New England. My friends got omelettes, once of which was sort of a scrambled egg pancake and the other was open face, conforming to neither the French nor Western styles. Their texture was dense and muddled rather than light and fluffy. The brunch drinks were large and inexpensive, but my spicy bloody mary was neither spicy nor strong - it basically tasted like tomato juice. After a long day on the road for business, I was too wiped out to venture out very far from my hotel near the Providence airport, so I decided to try Shannon View Inn because of the favorable reviews. Less than a mile from my hotel, this was the perfect choice for a good meal and a delicious craft beer! I had the Reuben with fried along with a Wachusett Octoberfest Ale and couldn't have been more satisfied with my choice. The Irish pub was full of locals and business travelers all gathered to the backdrop of a cozy pub with plenty of TV's to watch sports. It was also trivia night, which is always a good way to unwind. The music between questions was right up my alley, playing a mix of 80's & 90's Alternative Rock. I greatly enjoyed my evening at Shannon View Inn. For folks who may have known the Shannon View before the new management took over, this place is nothing like it. We drove BY it because it looked so different. Totally cleaned up with a dark green exterior and black canvas awnings. Classy interior with varnished wood - well - the varnished wood is everywhere. Perfect Irish pub decor. I fancy myself to be an expert on eggs Benedict. An aficionado , if you will. I can whip up a mean hollandaise in my humble kitchen and feel that there is no excuse why any restaurant couldn't create one that is at least above average. I tasted an Eggs Benedict here today that was absolutely, without question, AMAZING. I ordered the Trinity which is basically your classic Canadian bacon on an English with the egg and hollandaise goodness. The English muffin was perfectly toasted with crispy, nearly burnt edges (which I love!). The egg was prepared "loose" as requested so that that when my knife touched the perfectly poached egg, the yolk cascaded out on the plate with the hollandaise flowing like a gentle river alongside it. Seriously...if I could cue some classical music to accompany this description I would (Maybe Vivaldi "Spring"...). I digress. The buck didn't stop here, folks. All four of us had meals that hit it out of the park - the jam-packed, tasty toasted Reuben, the open-faced Carpenter omelet and the pick-two eggs were done as requested with a generous side of well-done corned beef hash. Real deal corned beef hash that was more corned beef than anything else. All the food came out piping hot - such a winner with me. Drinks - Homemade Bloody Mary in my own personal mini-pitcher made my heart soar with every sip of the spicy, horseradish love put into this homemade mix. Mimosas - solid. And the beer choices? Many...many...many delightful craft and micro brews. They also have the Bud and Bud Light if that's your thing. Service was peachy. He was super patient. Too bad I don't know his name, but everyone there was really friendly and eager to please. First, let's discuss the 32-ounce PITCHER of Bloody Mary's or mimosas that get planted on the table. For a Sunday morning sipper, I'll happily take it. The service is pleasant at worst, and brilliantly witty (Heather!!!) at best - depends who you get, but whatever happens, you're golden. The food is stick-to-your-ribs pub fare, that is incredibly good. My favorite dish is the Mamacita: two eggs, served on a bed of chili and jalapeño cornbread. I splash it all with a few shakes of Tabasco sauce, and I achieve nirvana. Other standout dishes include the nachos and pancakes. I have it on good authority that they make a mean hash omelet. Wash it all down with an Irish coffee, if you haven't been rendered completely immobile by the aforementioned bloodies or mimosas. Shannon View Inn also offers regulars a shot at 15 minutes of fame: join their beer club and, when you've finished 50 pints (the variety on offer is outstanding), you get your name engraved on a plaque on the wall. Classy! Finish 100, and you have the added distinction of getting a clever epigram of your choice, engraved on said plaque. The servings are generous, the signature Brunch cocktails Mimosa and Bloody Mary are served in big mugs and are not watered down. I found out this place is under new management; hence, the promotion. Well, it is worth visiting. While the layout of the place yells Irish pub at night, there were enough dining tables for the big Brunch crowd. I see on their website that they are related to another good Irish Pub-cum-Brunch spot, Doherty's in Pawtucket. What's so different? Their menu -- presentation, serving portion and taste! Great choices named creatively and intriguingly -- from signature favorites (there's "The Usual Suspects"), Eggs Benedict ("Emma Dilemma"), to their side dishes including White Bean Tempeh sausage that was delicious and good enough for vegans and meat sausage lovers. My only concern is their listed phone no. when googled on the Internet, is wrong. So is the no. the Inn itself. They should be concerned about not being reached or found especially with what they have to offer. Last I checked, I'm still getting wrong nos. I plan to keep coming back to this place. Atmosphere We walked into a friendly welcome and sat ourselves at a high top table. The places is decorated like a typical pub with wood tables and chairs and a a large bar st the center. There are many large TVs playing various movies and sports. Feels cozy and comfortable. There is a good mix or high tops and regular tables. The exterior does not give you the impression this place is going to be as warm and cozy inside. 4 stars Food We ordered the Nachos and a Reuben sandwich. Good came out pretty quickly. The large plates looked great and the nachos were huge. The Reuben was outstanding. One of the best I ever tried. True perfection. We ordered it with sweet potato tots which were also really delicious. The tri-color nachos came with salsa sour cream, crispy pickled jalapeños and guacamole. Nachos were great, but just a tad short on the toppings,. I also prefer melted cheese, not cheese whiz type of cheese sauce. 5 stars for the Reuben and 3 stars for the nachos. 4 stars. Drinks The place has a good beer selection. They have a whole fusion section, which I thought was cool. I had "the dark side of the moon" which was Guinness fused with Blue Moon. I really enjoyed it. My wife got a glass of wine, and then a dirty martini. What I thought was so cool, is the waiter asked how dirty she wanted the Martini. Not a question you hear very often, but she just had one that had waaaaay too much olive juice in it at the Comedy Connection so this was a pleasant change. 5 stars. Dessert We got the cheesecake with strawberries for dessert and I was a little disappointed when it came out with just fruit and no strawberry sauce. But after eating it I have to say it was amazing. I've been to Shannon View a few times and thought it was time I add a review because I'm always very satisfied when I leave there. For me, to get 5 stars I have to be wow'd and the place has to be excellent in many ways. This place is probably the closest to getting one from me. For starters lets talk food. Not only have I gone there but I've taken other there as well and no one has ever complained about the food. The nachos are a meal in of themselves and LOADED. They do not skimp on toppings. Their chili is hearty and delicious. The burgers are great and always cooked to your request. I personally like spicy so I almost always get the wicked hot burger. Its topped w/ pepper jack, jalapeno bacon, wicked pickles & a habanero pepper relish. It'll clear your sinuses and might make you shed a tear, but it's not hot for the sake of hot, its very flavorful. I've also had the Dublin burger with corned beef hash, Irish cheddar and their house sauce. Can't say enough good things about the food. Good food never tastes as good when the service stinks right? Well the service here is top notch. You are never forgotten, the staff is more than willing to answer questions or offer suggestions. Again, you won't be disappointed in this area either. The place is also very clean any time I've ever been there. Lastly, they have a very nice selection of beers including a number of craft beers. Their fusion section is very interesting if you're into that. The mixes they come up with are not only unique but taste quite good too. If you're looking for a good local bar, you're in for a treat! They have all the drinks, ambiance, and friendly staff you'd expect, but it gets better! The food is fantastic. We have yet to have a bad meal here, and the brunch selection is an unexpected treat. Each year around St. Patrick's Day my elderly mother, my family and I go out for an Irish meal in memory of my father, a bona fide Irishman. We miss him so much. We tried this place two years ago and the food was horrible so we crossed it off our list, but a neighbor told my mother that it had changed ownership and we should give it another try. So, tonight, we did. I would review the food, but the problem is that we had a terrible experience with the pierced, tattooed woman who was sadly assigned to us as our waitress. Please, I have nothing against tattoos or piercings, but I do have a problem with mean, snarky, rude waitresses! I won't go into detail, but my impression is that the happiest people here are indifferent and the unhappiest people here are, well, embodied by the nasty woman who ruined what could have been a lovely evening. A few samples of her behavior: 1. I would like the reuben, but with turkey instead of corned beef...Mean Waitress: We don't HAVE turkey. 2. I am here with my elderly mom and the music you are playing (70's headbanging, acid rock, and loud!) is not quite what we expected. It's actually really kind of awful. I was wondering if you might play something else, perhaps some Irish music?,,,,Mean Waitress: This is a jukebox selection (I honestly don't see a jukebox anywhere), so somebody paid for it so I can't very well turn it off because they paid for it (duh) and we always just play classic rock. It's what we play. Me: Gee, thanks so much for your gracious response... 3. She finally just sent another waitress over to finish up. The new waitress was just fine. The craft beer selection was ample and familiar to the bartenders. Prices were right. I don't happen by the airport in a non-flying situation too frequently (and when I do, I'm usually at a neighboring establishment), but this place has caught my eye.
