My friend and I are traveling down to NC leaving from Providence airport which should be Warwick airport and had dinner at this restaurant. Our server Nick was fantastic and chef made clam cakes with chowder that rivals many others that I have tried. Everyone who works there was so friendly. Stopped by on our way out of town as the menu looked good and the reviews seemed to support it. Walked in on a Friday afternoon around 1:00. Both the bartenders were helpful and service was good. However, the food, pretty bad all the way around. I know most people don't go to a bar for the food, but I think it needs mentioning. The fish tacos tasted worse than they smelled. They have a great selection of beers from breweries near and far. I was also impressed by their variety of hot wing preparations. We tried a couple and loved them all, and the cook on the wings was perfect. Staff are really friendly, which is a nice surprise if you're visiting any bar/pub on a busy night. Came here today for a bridal shower. The atmosphere is very nice and the restaurant is beautiful. They have a private room upstairs that you use an elevator to access. It has its own bar. We had a list to choose from I chose the clam chowder and grilled chicken sandwich. The chowder was excellent. The chicken sandwich was very well made. A chimichurri sauce with avocado and bacon. I had a disappointing experience with Grid Iron. We ordered two dozen wings to go, but upon reaching home, we discovered an unusual and funky taste, along with a noticeable smell. The unpleasant taste and smell suggested improper storage and then they went ahead and cooked/served it making me hesitant and not much confidence about any of their food. We ended up tossing all the wings out because the taste and smell were unbearable. The overall experience was terrible. I would definitely NOT recommend coming here. read more

First time here. Wings were not cooked. Flavor was good. But not cooked. Steak sandwiche was over cooked.

We decided to come back to this place after the very pleasant experience we had last year. Unfortunately, this year was a bit less pleasant. The food was great in that we had the BBQ Pork Nachos, and they were delicious. I also had a couple of Guinness on draft during the wait for the game to start. However, rather than being told that the game would not be on the main TVs in the restaurant, we were just left to 'grin and bear it'. Since there were 'issues' with the satellite provider and the network, they could only 'stream' the game on a few of the TV's. Then they had the sound going from three different TVs on for too long which got annoying. Finally, they did bring the sound back to just the main football game, but each of the three TV's that showed the Pats game were coming in at different speeds and the sound for the game was for the TV that was running last was what we had to listen to. The Grid Iron is a local watering hole that is a nice place to visit if you're not a local. They have an extensive draft beer list along with a lot of canned and bottled beers. They also have a lot of cocktails and liquor choices so everyone can find something they'd like. The menu is typical pub grub but we had the chicken club and fries and it was great. They cook the bacon and crisp it up before putting on the sandwich and that makes all the difference. I tried two local beers and I highly recommend the Gray Sails "Captains Daughter" IPA. In the running for worst meal I've ever had. Started with nachos which, aside from boring and bland, would be considered a hearty portion only for a table of toddlers. Moved on to the French Dip accompanied by all-the-rage coated fries, freshly cut from the freezer bag. The "meat" was an odd, slightly slimy, chewy, and staggeringly salty mess on a stale roll. Actually would say 2.5 stars, not bad, but not great. We had chicken wings which were okay, but I had a grilled chicken sandwich which was below average. The fries seemed like they came from the freezer, tater tots the same thing. Onion rings were delicious and super greasy. Salad was okay, nothing particularly wrong with it. Ok place to catch a game. Or catch some food poisoning. My burger was fine, but beef stew looked like it came from a can. My beer was from tap and tasted a bit flat. They had one server on a friday night that was also working the bar. I gave 2 stars because there were lots of TVs so it serves a purpose. That purpose is not having a good meal. read more

Pretty busy Saturday night, had a musician playing guitar. It was pretty busy but we managed to get a small table by the bar. Great bar fare, Ryan & Arthur were friendly and came around checking on customers often. They also were great at making beer recommendations. This place has to be the most RACIST place I've ever been to! First off, yes I may look young and beautiful but I am 35. Just because you can't properly verify a NY license then maybe your business should invest in an ID verifying machine. After they served our drinks, they asked us to sign some weird book about how we state that we are over 21! Then they stated we didn't have to put our license number in the book and another lady came and said that we did. I just think they didn't want to serve us because we were Spanish. So we ditched the place. And their margarita was weak! I don't recommend that place at all! Most RACIST unwelcoming place I EVER been to. read more

A good sports bar with a decent menu and beer selection. As evidenced by the name, its focus is on being a good place to watch a Football game - rather than being just a regular bar that happens to have a couple TVs. The food is typical sports bar fare - think wings, pizza, burgers, potato skins and the like. They also some salads, wraps and other options if that's your thing, and a few actual entrees. They have a good selection of beer, but the focus is definitely on Bud, Coors and such. The prices are good - especially if you're used to Providence prices. Service is good, and the crowd were all there to watch the game. There weren't any little kids at the bar (which always creeps me out a bit) so it's okay to yell when the football gods bless or curse your team. read more

Don't sleep on this place. No thrills and frills. But the food and drinks are Great. Is the menu expansive? Nope. They clearly specialize in what they are good at. Best Garlic Parm wings I've had thus far in the area.(sorry Hooters) Hubby thought Burger was way better than Chelos and fries were delicious. Also, a small outdoor seating area, which is nice for summer nights. Decent beer selection, and I like the fact they display the Beer Advocate rating, not many bars share that information. I ordered a cheeseburger club with fries. The sandwich was pretty good, nothing spectacular but not disgusting by any means. Pretty decent. Let me count the ways: - have never been taken care of by a friendlier staff, they took care of everything and even anticipated my needs. - the wings (sweet chili) and the burger (gridiron) were beyond good. - I had two specialty drafts (one local, one not) that I've never heard of and they were great. - every person I met or sat next to in the bar was friendly and they all knew the bartenders. Recent visit on Sunday to watch BOS vs. OAK. Decent amount of beers on tap and TVs to make sure we saw the game. Decided to have lunch. My grilled ham and cheese was awesome and my husband enjoyed the nachos. It seems like the place has a large amount of regulars ( the people who wake up in the morning to go sit somewhere and drink) but they were social and harmless. Really a bar with some food. I had a burger with sweet potato fries. Burger was good but nothing special. Fries were also just OK. There were a little soggy, but i did take out so they maybe better if eaten right away. Prices were good and service was pretty quick and friendly, although they did include tamoto when I did ask them not to. They do have a long beer list so if that is your thing, I would suggest checking the list on their web site. read more

I've usually had a pretty good experience with the food and experience with this place and I've never reviewed this place so that is why I am not giving it just a single star. This last time however, we ordered nachos and some entrees to go, I'm not kidding when I say wow did we get gypped. The carton which contained the nachos was less than half full. For $8 I would've expected a little more. Our entrees were also very much on the skimpy side. If it wasn't a 5 mile drive back through rush hour traffic I would've returned the food and demanded a refund. I'll give this place one more try, however if I have another bad experience such as this I'll give my business to the other 12 or so pub style places within a few minutes of this place. read more

Every time I go to Providence area or Warwick a must on my to do list is to hit the Grid Iron. The food is fantastic, and I've had everything from NY style pizza to sandwiches to chicken & even corned beef. They have an abundance of beer on tap as well as TVs with every sport imaginable. But the real draw is the staff and the regulars. I'm a Texan through and through and everyone at the Grid Iron makes you feel like you are family, from Pete the owner to bartenders Randy & Chris remembering your name to the waitresses like Tiff making you feel special. The regulars are super welcoming. They have poker & a buffet Mon & Wed and the regular players are super nice.
