He was notified but chose not to come to the ER. There was no other ophthalmologist available so i was unable to receive the treatment I needed, and as a result I am now blind in one eye. I was in ICU for two days and the hospital did not attempt to find another ophthalmologist. No physician on staff was qualified to dilate my eye to asses for a retinal artery occlusion or a detached retina, I was visiting from another state and had to make an Emegency flight home to see my ophthalmologist but, unfortunately , the window of time for appropriate treatment had passed.

A lot of people came after I arrived and one by one they were called in. I was called inside at 11:15 am, 35 minutes after my appointment time. Was taken to exam room, told to sit on the uncomfortable exam room chair. I waited there until 11:50 am for Dr. Plotnik to make his appearance!! An hour and 10 minutes after my appointment time. He saw me literally for 5 minutes in a hurry! I had another appointment at noon which I completely missed. What bothered me the most was the fact that, not the front desk. Not Dr. Plotnik, not the check out people had the courtesy to apologize for the 1 hour and 10 minutes delay, like nothing has happened and this is charity work, and this delay is NORMAL! It is NORMAL! This is unacceptable. I don't understand how they can do this all the time and no action is taken to correct this unpleasant experience for their customers. I really don't recommend this practice to anyone.

He made a rude comment at his surgery facility which he owns. He talked the entire surgery to his staff in the op room about his European barge vacation, rather boastfully. I couldn't chime in as I was anesthetized enough to keep me alert, but unable to speak. My bruising was over the top although I followed the protocol. I went back several times to have stitches removed that were hanging and uncomfortable. During one of the post visits he agreed he could have taken more off one eyelid. I inquired how much it would be to correct. Another $5,000! Both eyes upper and lower were 8-10K. What was he thinking. I continue to have black looking stitches above both eyes. I called to request a visit and the front desk attendant said it would be a $50 copay. ? I called a week later willing to "say" I'd pay it, and this front desk attendant said, let me look at your record. I should have come in earlier to have these removed. ? Really? Maybe I should have been advised to talk to my eyes to ask them to heal quicker. They asked for photo's which I sent immediately. The Doc was on vacation for a month but got back to me through his attendant, and she said, "quoted, this is called junk." It will cost $500 to remove. Business must be really bad. And I have cysts." At my recent facial, my beautiful aesthetician removed "4" pieces of stitches for no extra charge. She is furious the way he has treated me. The doc also said I have cysts, which happen to be on the incision line. When I pull the skin back slightly, I can see more stitches. I can't wear eyeshadow because it looks like I have a line of lumps. Would have been nice to have been treated kindly, and cleaned up his mess for the first $10,000. I have put off writing this for a year or more and I couldn't help it, as it just kept getting worse.

I was also in a car accident. The doctor did not think there was any relationship to the inflammation in the eye. They ended up getting a check out of my settlement for $1000 and we've been going back-and-forth. Insurance paid for everything. I informed the doctor I had a workplace injury. He did not take it serious even though he had all the doctors notes and passed notes from previous doctors with no other issues except for my underline glaucoma. He was subpoenaed when they asked him about the scarring in the eye he said there was none and then I reminded him, and then he did admit there was scarring. I went to another doctor showed her all the doctors notes and she sat down, took several days and put all the different information together instead of my Doctor putting all the notes together and going over everything with me. He keeps telling me I did not have any issues related to my injury, especially after another doctor stated this because he does not want to deal with Workers Comp in injuries. He also knows the doctors that treated me in the past and since they all know each other, this is a big problem! The Billing office and they tried saying the payment for $1000 was part of his council to the ICA. I informed them this was not $1000 fee and it was something that should not have went to the doctor it should have came back to me for my accident I had in my settlement. Dr. Reiss nothing to do with my settlement nor they should not have $1000 and being dishonest about it after my health insurance paid for my treatment and I paid my co-pays. I do not know what they're trying to pull, but they are not working in good faith.

When we arrived we waited for 2 1/2 hours he then proceeded with the laser not checking whether I was still numb enough-I was NOT. I screamed with pain & told them to stop. He then proceed with a regular cataract removal without consulting me. No apology what's so ever. Ever since that time I have problems with my right eye. I asked to see Dr. Patel but they shoved me off to a young Optometrist. Never saw the Dr. again. I would be very careful using this Doctor for anything, he has an Independent surgery Center with an Assembly line.
