I was excited to here NOLA was getting a Sharetea. I often go to the one in Houston. The staff was very friendly. Helped us chose a drink and explained items in the menu if we weren't familiar. The place is has a cute interior. I love the NOLA sign. Although there was lots of seating, the place was packed so it was hard to find a table. The drinks took a long time to come out. But I'll excuse it because they just opened. I got a boba fresh milk tea. I've never had fresh milk before. It's a lot creamier than regular milk tea. I liked it a lot. Decided to try this new place because boba is life! I've heard of sharetea before, but never tried it. It's where the old morning call used to be and the lot is pretty small with other businesses surrounding so I can see parking being a problem if they're busy! Upon walking in, today's hits music was playing on a big tv. Lots of seating with some games to play if you come and want to hang out with friends. Cute NOLA signage hanging up too. If you've never been, the drinks for the most part are iced while there are options that can be made hot. You choose toppings, ice level, and sweetness. I think there's only one size and the cup is pretty big so you're getting your moneys worth as drinks average about $5. Here's what we ordered... Kiwi fruit tea w/ aiyu jelly, 50% sweetness: I always find fruity tea or sweet drinks to be sometimes overly sweet so this drink was perfect at 50% for me. It tasted a bit like orange and kiwi mixed, slight tartness. There was bits of kiwi and then the jelly was clear and didn't taste like much. Overall, I'd recommend as it was refreshing and I'd get it again. Coffee milk tea with tapioca pearls, 80% sweetness: my mom tried this and loved it! wasn't too sweet, and creamy from the milk. coffee gave it that perfect bitterness but she told me she'd get it even 100% regular sweetness because the coffee cuts it down. Wintermelon tea with tapioca pearls, 100% sweetness: my brother tried and he liked it, he loves anything wintermelon and it was quite refreshing. he likes to add his own milk but this was nothing different from your typical wintermelon tea. Overall, I will be coming back here frequently if I'm ever on this side! I love the drinks and service was quite quick despite not many people in front of me, but a girl did order like 10 drinks so it took about 10-15 min. I had Sharetea in California before so I was SO excited that one was opening in Metairie. I went on 2/28, the first day of their soft opening, and waited with friends. When we got inside I saw the employees hard at work keeping up with all the drink orders; there was a line out the door for two hours after opening so people were hype! My friends got some fruit teas while I chose an Okinawa Milk Tea (just your usual brown sugar milk tea) with regular pearls. I think they only offer one big cup size. So for $4.91 I got this huge cup, which is the same size as a large at a certain other boba chain around the block... I think you can choose one topping for free and extras for 50 cents each. The flavor was very smooth and the tapioca balls had the perfect chew. My friends enjoyed their fruit teas. One actually had the QQ Happy Family Milk Tea, which comes with several different toppings, like red bean, as part of the drink so there's no extra charge. There are a crazy number of boba tea shops in New Orleans for some reason and we have planned on trying several of them. Sharetea was the first place we tried and we ended up visiting here every day that we were in New Orleans. Kids loved their blended mango with ice cream and didn't want to go anywhere else! Their blended coffee was also very good and their boba were on point! Their Thai tea and milk tea were a little off..... I can't quite pinpoint what exactly is not quite right with them, but they were not exactly how they should taste (I am somewhat ashamed to admit that I drink a lot of boba tea and this is one area where I can claim to be an expert LOL). However, even at "not quite right", they were still better than a lot of places! I debated between four stars and five stars, but since it's really a 4.5 for me, I rounded up. Our first visit was a great experience: fast service, the owner seemed friendly and very passionate about the franchise, the interior is modern and sleek, and the teas were Delicious. We went with the Wintermelon Creama and the QQ Milk Tea. The Wintermelon Creama is definitely my favorite of all the drinks so far. This drink is best appreciated when sipped from the top (instead of a straw) to get the kick of the flavorful house-made sea salt cheese foam which is then followed by the refreshing sweet taste of the wintermelon tea. QQ MT is good as well as it is a combination of different layers of toppings and pudding. This is now our 'go to' for boba tea cravings and we look forward to trying the other options. It is a popular chain and I have been to Sharetea good bit of times but I have yet to find a tea I truly will go back and order. Usually each bubble tea places have their specialty; something that they are really good at but every recommendation I got was not up to my expectation; I have tried normal milk tea to fruit tea and to something with ice cream in it. This time as well I asked for 50% less sugar but the drink had about the same sweet ness as my friend that got a normal drink. I got many drinks here and they all tasted quite basic, like a powdered milk tea like most chain, and I have tried many better options. I will keep going back to find what I will like and if anyone has suggestion please recommend. This is one of my favorite places to get boba milk tea so far. It's perfect to meet some friends or to hangout with some board games. The interior is sleek and modern and the workers are super friendly. I like getting their red bean milk tea with boba and grass jelly, half sweet. It's perfect! So excited to see that there are more boba places in NOLA now! I've been to this location a few times now and it has not disappoint!! The boba is cooked just right with the right chewiness every time I've been there. The traditional black milk tea is fragrant and handmade taro fresh milk is also decent. The boba fresh milk is also good, although not as good as the ones from Meet Fresh or Half & Half (but lucky for Sharetea, no need to worry about those competitions here!). In terms of bubble tea spots, Sharetea is one of the better places. Originating from Taiwan, the quality of their milk tea is more true to what I think of as the "original." The drink: 5 stars! One size. You can modify sweetness and ice. I usually order with mini-boba which I prefer over regular boba. Haven't had anything on the menu that wasn't good (I've only ordered the milk teas though). The service: They still have a couple of kinks to workout. The staff is super friendly, but their wait time is too long. I've gone about 10 times now and have had to wait at least 15-30 minutes every time. For the first week, that was anticipated, but it's frustrating when there are only a couple of people who order in front of you and you still need to wait that long. The vibe: Super chill spot that just opened up. Lots of bar and table seats with board games and clean bathrooms. The parking lot is pretty small which is unfortunate given the amount of people they see per day. Summary: This place is right next to Kung Fu Tea in New Orleans, which has been in NOLA for almost two years. If Sharetea wants to be comparable, they have got to work on their service. I had my first ShareTea while in Houston and got hook on it. I was so excited one was opening near my work place. We didn't even attempted to go to their soft opening because of the long lines which was wrap outside was what I heard. For their grand opening, they had a buy one get one free so the lines were long but at least not out the door by the time we got there. My wait time from placing my order to receiving it was an hour and ten minutes...yeah, I really did time it ..lol.. They provide playing cards, tumbling tower game and other board games so you can kill the time. I always get the same drink, I had the Strawberry Ice Blended with Lychee Jelly & Ice Cream. You get a scoop of ice cream on top of your drink was what got me hooked. So to compare this from the Houston one, I would say that their drink was not as sweet tasting like the Houston location. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed from dessert drink. Definitely coming back for more since its so close to my work place. My bro in law and wife chose some top 10 items which they all enjoyed along with my kids. 4 Stars for now until they can figure out some time issues. Was pretty busy but plenty of staffing there at the time (6-7 people). Since all the tables were full some were just awkwardly standing around waiting 20 sometimes 30 minutes for their drinks.
