I would NEVER recommend this place. Lulu was terrible to my little boy. First she didn't even say hello or try to introduce herself to him. She just picked upped the razor and asked us what we wanted. We tried explaining and then she said "I need a photo. This explaining stuff isn't going to work." Then she put her hand on my son's head and started using the razor, didn't even say hi or try to warm up to him. Then my partner asked her a question about what she was doing and her response was "are you serious?". We are his parents, we get to ask what she is doing. For the record, he was very thoughtful in his question, so her delivery wasn't warranted. My son was crying so much and we had to cut the haircut short. When my partner said to her "why didn't you say hello to him?" Her response was "we are on a time constraint so we don't have time for that." The experience wasn't what we expected at all. Not worth $30 dollars. Not worth the hype. Very disappointed. read more

We absolutely LOVE Sharkeys! You get much more for about the same price in comparison to other kid salons in Charlotte. Our daughter loves it and we found a stylist who can help us with her hair! Fine but curly hair can be challenging. The shop is so bright and welcoming and the staff is friendly. For just over $30, she got a relaxing hair wash, fantastic cut in a cool chair, fun style to her hair, nails painted, ring, and a balloon! Highly recommend. Want a quick kid cut, some parting toys, and lots of fun? Check out Sharkey's!! We have been multiple times with our twins and have had a great experience each time with every stylist we had. It's a vibrant, colorful, interactive experience for the kids and they are so stimulated they cannot get bored. If you have kids that can get overstimulated easily and need earbuds or headphones, I recommend. There can be lots of sounds and lighting options that may easily push a little one over the edge quickly. Price is a bit much for a kids cut that lasts only a few minutes, but the experience plus the cut makes it a fair deal. They keep the floors and chairs fairly clean but my only feedback is that sometimes the scissors or other supplies used by the stylist may not be as cleaned as I would personally like. Parking is very manageable and hours of operation are wide to accommodate most family schedules. Overall, 4 out of 5 stars!! read more

Took my 2yr old son there, and the stylist was not very patient with the child, which should have been a given, considering the salon specializes in servicing kids. The place where I cut my hair can handle kids much better, and they are not self proclaimed specialists in serving kids. if I had more time I would have complained on the spot. read more

Overpriced and terrible service. Have had to wait 25 minutes with an appointment before being taken. Get there today 10 mins late for appointment. Place is empty except for one boy in a chair getting a haircut. They tell me after I check in and wait for 5 minutes that we need to reschedule because...wait for it...we were too late and the woman who will cut my son's hair is very busy. The place was EMPTY! There was another barber doing NOTHING! You're open for another hour and a half, so it's not like we're near closing time either. I'd apologized for being a bit late and asked if there was a grace period for appointments; was told it is 7 minutes (not posted anywhere in their store or on their website, by the way). My little boy says to me: Daddy, they don't want me? So, it's perfectly OK to commonly keep us waiting (happened several times, usually 15 - 20 mins, once was 25 mins as I said), but the one time we're a little late there's no reciprocation. No, we won't be rescheduling or ever frequenting Sharkey's again. Gave Sharkey's in Ballantyne about 7 or 8 tries, and at most twice my son got a good haircut from them. Plus it's an overstimulating half-a-toy-store. . $28 + tip for a 4 year old boy's haircut is expensive. Here's a tip: Take your children someplace else. read more

Had a lot of recommendations to use this salon but we won't be coming back. I really loved my sons long hair but it was just getting a little too long so we decided to finally go for a trim. Told her I just wanted a little length taken off since I like it long. She told me it looked messy. she then cut his ear, cut his hair SO much shorter than I wanted and it is completely uneven all over. I understand kids move but he was way better then we expected and she cut his hair in maybe 4 minutes total. It's sloppy, my kid is cut up and we absolutely hate it. It's was a nice place until recently, the owner always seems to have a weird attitude. Every time we raise a question, she immediately goes to a "defense" mode... Seems like she had a hard time to take constructive feedback, or even an ask... We love one of the staff who works here and kept coming back for her. But I think is time to change to another place. They in general have big attitude problem, never seem happy for their job. Meanwhile, don't clean often, left the hair in the car seat but ask my son to sit until I found the problem. I will be sad not to see my sons go to hairdresser, but we would like to give business to another place who appreciate their customer more :) read more

if i could give this place zero stars, i absolutely would. they handle themselves with zero professionalism this afternoon. my son had his very first hair cut at 11:40 this morning. we received our confirmation text this morning before we left our house IN YORK. so we drive 40 MINUTES to charlotte to arrive to an empty store front with no lights on. we pull on the door and it is locked. we knock and wait a few minutes until i see that the store next door has their door propped open so we walk inside and ask if there's anyone inside of sharkeys. they tell us "no they don't have electricity so they left." we've still not received a phone call, text, email, go f yourself, nothing. absolutely no professionalism but i'm not surprised. seems to be a running theme of this area. we will not be rescheduling our appointment and i most certainly will not be recommending this place to anyone else. genuinely hope they go out of business because they can't conduct themselves with any kind of decorum. read more

Every time we come here we have to wait 20-30 minutes for our appointment. Today we were late due to a traffic accident and they cancelled our appointment saying that they only give a 5 minute grace period. The hair cuts are usually okay. My daughter loves that they braid her hair and paint her nails. We've only had one really bad cut in all the times we've visited, but if not for the fun cars for the kids to sit in, we would definitely go elsewhere. read more

Very disappointed in my experience with Sharkey's today. We have been here in the past and the hair cuts are decent and my daughter likes the atmosphere so we tried it again. We made an appointment online and I received confirmation email but when we got there they didn't have reservation in system. I showed them confirmation email but they just said they aren't sure why the system would "do that". Offered me appointment in 2 hours with no apology. I understand things happen but it was the lack of apology and acting like they don't care about my business that promotes the low rating. Since going back and reading reviews it looks like I am not the only one that has had this occur. Would think they would fix their broken process. read more

Honestly, I wanted to like this place because of the cute chairs and kid atmosphere. We walked in around 1:40pm for a 2pm appointment figuring we would have to wait (no big deal we knew we were early) around 2:05 the lady came over to get us and stating she was taking us before the client in front of us? Although we had the 2pm appointment. Anywho I just wanted my sons hair a little shorter as it's getting hot and he had a lot of hair, but I specifically told her I didn't want to get rid of his sideburns just thin them out. I totally understand cutting a 4 month olds hair is not easy especially if he's upset but this lady was 100% rushing through his haircut as she had someone else waiting. If she would have been patient my son wouldn't have been screaming the entire time. I didn't realize until we walked out how jacked his hair was. I don't even think if it's worth it to say any more, I'm adding pictures to explain why Im absolutely infuriated. I don't even trust taking him back to get it fixed.
